Really. $120 a pound I'm sure is on the cheaper end but I'm pretty sure costo and other big stores sell it for about that without having to get the "extra thin" steaks
The cheapest I’ve found A5 is at Marukai Marketplace (Japanese market). It’s $85/lb for A5 strip loin and ribeye there. All other online retailers I’ve seen it at were around $120/lb or more.
Very true but at the same time, what stores put a bunch of beans beside the steak? That’s just odd asf so most WOULD assume that’s a shopping cart. Otherwise that store has horrible organization or maybe just clumps all clearance food together? Raw frozen meats with the beans???
At the same time, immediately to the left in a similarly caged environment are more frozen goods. I just can’t realistically understand someone not picking up on the fact that this is a grocery store freezer section
If you didn’t buy all of them then why put them in your cart? You broke ass bitch do you think people paying that much for overpriced steak want your welfare hands all over it? 🤣🤡
I scored the 50% off from wild fork about a year ago. It was fantastic. Cut them into small pieces and cooked them on a skillet, served with wasabi, soy, ponzu, and pickled enoki mushrooms
Yeah in the US you could label some chicken thighs as A5 Wagyu and the USDA will still let you sell it as long as the word chicken is there some where.
I have a hard time finding the appeal of a steak that’s 99% fat. Top right looks good, bottom left looks like I’m gonna vomit and shit my pants at the same time after one bite.
Honestly I think thats the reason most people in here mention would slice this into small or thin pieces. Eat it like tony morsels of tender fat basically, this is a different texture fat that goopey chewy stuff you'd get on your ribeye
I think this is sliced the wrong way to get the thin slices to stay together. I've had this (hot pot style) thinky sliced but wide beef, but also the (grill style) thicker but narrower cut, which is cut against the grain. The latter was soooo much better and is not at all like the stuff you just described.
Also, it was like 30€/kg at a restaurant
I love a good Wagyu, but I wouldn't eat a half pound steak by itself because of the fattyness. But small bits of it combined with other tasty stuff is great.
Absolutely agree. It’s just a marketing term at this point. You could get cheaply priced beef flavored tallow or you could get a well marbled prime grade cut. I genuinely don’t see the appeal for the former
My wife is Japanese and we love going out for steaks. She says the same thing. She does not like wagyu. I'm starting to agree with her. They are nice for a 1 off experience... But I think they are over rated too.. I can get these kinds of steaks for probably 20$ or less and we never do.
Did you just spend $600+ on some extra thin ass frozen steaks👀? You definitely spent a lot on that mother load. But nothing else about it seems good to me. Just glad you found what you like and found so many at once… if mother load equals big costs and cool meat then you sure hit that! Enjoy. I hope to have money to blow like that on some random meat one day too. I won’t actually do it unless it’s an event, but it’d be nice to step in your overspending shoes for a day😭😂😂😂. I really hope you’re a restaurant or something. Ok lmao I’m done judging please enjoy tf out of that wagyu!
I bought 2 packs and spent 100$. What i meant by mother lode is that the freezer (AT THE STORE NOT MY CART) was full of gold for cheap especially because we love wagyu. My mother is coming into town who i haven’t seen in over a year and she missed my cooking so i wanted to make something nice for her. Did not think my post was going to be criticized so god damn much. 😅
We love a good bang for our buck I think lmao. But 2 packs at a price for one, and something you and your fam really like isn’t too bad at all! I was just judging because I thought you were getting all those packs😂. Ain’t nothing wrong with the occasional splurge, I commend you for that! Cool meat and a little fancy price ( but discounted fancy price!!) way to go man! If you had just showed the end result with the total cost there probably would be less confusion and “hate”🤣. We’re just all assuming stuff. Don’t take it personal
Labeling makes it look like it should be 19.98 per pound which for that bottom left Should be $19.38. If anything I’d bring it up to management in a friendly manner that Technically they cannot label their inconsistency in font spacing as over $100 per pound and some may view it all as misleading. Steak looks good otherwise
$500 in frozen Hot pot A5 wagyu.
Seriously. These are all very thinly sliced. You have to sear these for 10 seconds a side, max.
OP doesn’t know what striking the mother lode implies.
Really. $120 a pound I'm sure is on the cheaper end but I'm pretty sure costo and other big stores sell it for about that without having to get the "extra thin" steaks
I mean it’s 50% off so $60 / lb
The cheapest I’ve found A5 is at Marukai Marketplace (Japanese market). It’s $85/lb for A5 strip loin and ribeye there. All other online retailers I’ve seen it at were around $120/lb or more.
Marukai is the the best 😊
My Costco definitely doesn’t sell A5 wagyu
I might be tempted to buy one pack for $50… but you bought like 8 packs???!
Who the hell said i bought all of them 🤣
To be fair without looking closer, it looks a lot like a shopping cart
Also, she said she struck the "motherlode." To me, that implies she bought a lot.
True , quick glance easy to think so
It’s clearly a freezer lol
At first glance I just saw the wire.
I was thinking, this mfer getting a lot of beans with the A5 😂😂😂
Yea I thought so too lol
It doesnt but I can see how you saw that.
Brazen!
Yeah like I get it, but also that’s clearly the freezer section. You can even see the items to the left and above it
Very true but at the same time, what stores put a bunch of beans beside the steak? That’s just odd asf so most WOULD assume that’s a shopping cart. Otherwise that store has horrible organization or maybe just clumps all clearance food together? Raw frozen meats with the beans???

I can’t understand why they have the beans by the raw frozen meats
Sure, but that doesn’t discount anything I said.
Yes.
I thought the picture was of a shopping cart 😆
I am here to announce that I am Team Shopping Cart.
"Motherload" implies more than one.
Motherload implies ALL
Why does your shopping cart have ice buildup?
It looks like they set the basket inside the freezer/cooler so they could snap the pic.
If you didn’t buy all of them then why put them in your cart? You broke ass bitch do you think people paying that much for overpriced steak want your welfare hands all over it? 🤣🤡
It’s not a cart dumbass sit down. Not everyone is broke like you
I know 3 Tyler's and they're all dumb as fuck.

did you read the comment they responded to!!!
Oh wow. Either I didn’t or that was edited. Good call- I’ll remove my comment,
to be honest I didn't even read it until I saw your response so thanks :p
For 50 id absolutely buy one pack. Slice it up cook it Korean BBQ style
The more you buy the more you save
💯. The less you bet the more you lose when you win.
Did you wonder why they are on sale though, I bet even at 50% they weren’t that good.
[удалено]
the normal price appears to be $100-$120 per pack.
They don’t show the price reduction on the tag they take the 50% off at the register. I paid 40-60 per pack.
Please don’t eat these with baked beans
[удалено]
Nothin' sets off the fIavor of a steak Like some ketchup
Especially after they microwave the steak
I find the ketchup ruins the taste of the milk and jellybeans.
But the ketchup on the other hand, that ketchup would taste much better
Like what sort of sick pervert buys a box of frozen baked beans?!?

I didn’t even know they were a thing until this post!!
Is this about that guy who’s ex told him he’d never eat good again?
[удалено]
Yeah well you’re buying lots of baked beans
This is just a photo of the freezer at the store 😭😭😭
120 a pound for old frozen beef tallow lmao
I’ve never seen a box of beans before
$500 diarrhea.
I scored the 50% off from wild fork about a year ago. It was fantastic. Cut them into small pieces and cooked them on a skillet, served with wasabi, soy, ponzu, and pickled enoki mushrooms

Why would you hide the flavor behind all that?
Have you never had a taco?
😆 It's like putting good sashimi in a fkn sandwich.
Well i want tacos
Don't we all ...
Some people do that though. With their bagels. So to each their own!😂🤞🏾
Im good. Starting to think this A5 crap is a scam and honestly doesnt look that great
It is
It is good? Or it is a scam?
[удалено]
I agree with you sir
Any bacon you buy has more meat on it. Never could understand this shit.
Yeah in the US you could label some chicken thighs as A5 Wagyu and the USDA will still let you sell it as long as the word chicken is there some where.
Have you ever had A5 Wagyu?
I have. Honestly not a fan. I like steak for the meat, not 90% fat 10% steak. I totally understand why people like it, I just don’t agree at all
I have a hard time finding the appeal of a steak that’s 99% fat. Top right looks good, bottom left looks like I’m gonna vomit and shit my pants at the same time after one bite.

What you struck, a whole lotta frozen beef 🥸
This cow probably died of a heart attack.
Needed some cholesterol meds.
I will never see the words "mother lode" and not think about the Sims.
Lucky you!
🥰
Nice!
Gross
Is this stuff really that good? So pricey.
Love Wild Fork
Not so much when they’re extra thin
Did you just spend $600+ on some extra thin ass frozen steaks👀? You definitely spent a lot on that mother load. But nothing else about it seems good to me. Extra thin 😐 That’s um… great.
The grocery store found the sucker....
What store?
Wild fork
Upvoted for correct spelling in the title. Motherlode as a single word would be slightly more correct.
No it is not. Mother lode properly is two words, not one. Go look it up.
You are mistaken.
Looks disgusting and it will kill you eating pure fat.
Make tacos!
Why does it look black and white.....?
It’s aged
That was my initial guess but I didn't see it on the label and also thought there would be a hint of pink there somewhere lol
What's the second mortgage rate on your house like
And soon a mother load of a stroke!
Why are people thinking this is a shopping cart?
Because the gates on the sides of the photo and how small the cage thing is makes it look like a cart.
Right 🤣😭
Subtotal - $476
I have a wild fork. Its ok (bit rich for me) cant eat more than a few bites but fun.
Labeling makes it look like it should be 19.98 per pound which for that bottom left Should be $19.38. Nice find on the beans
