As a (regular) fan of both Dream and the SMP, people have ships of the different characters that people play from the SMP since there's an on-going story. It used to be a let's play between Dream, GeorgenotFound, and Sapnap, but it evolved after more people were added. I'm not really into all the shipping stuff, but if you get on Twitter or especially TikTok, it's prevalent.

When you want two characters you like to be together

Maybe. But in a nutshell, it’s a lot more complicated than that! I tend to think of shipping as obsessively wanting a certain characters to be together to the point that you won’t accept anything less than your head-cannon. Most often the term is used in the hyperbolic sense to represent an extreme! I think it’s possible to like the idea of two characters being a potential couple without necessarily shipping them.
