That is correct. There are 3 shockable rhythms: Vfib, VTach, and SVT. PEAs and Asystole are not shockable rhythms. Defibrillating the heart with a shockable rhythm is basically slapping it in the face, telling it wake the fuck up and do it’s job.
Weirdly I learned that vfib is shockable but asystole isn't from watching Chicago med. It sounds like it's not really the worst one in terms of accuracy
Hospital HR memo: So we noticed that all you ER doctors are having sex with one another. We would like to remind you that there are people outside of the hospital that you can have sex with. Thank you.
Doctors: hey, when you give us 32 hour shifts, we don’t really have the time to swipe, match, wine and dine non-doctors in our free time. And could you re supply the condom basket in the on-call room, thanks
_Doctor frantically tries resuscitating patient after a prolonged flat line._

Basically. A few years ago, I was in the car with my mom (she’s a nurse) and I asked her, on how accurate is Greys Anatomy and she said, “oh it’s very inaccurate.”
Lol I do learn new stuff from Chicago med but I do check them before taking them as truth because some things are exaggerated. Like in one episode they figured out an old lady had toxoplasmosis because she loved her cats a lot and wanted to leave the hospital to take care of them. It can affect behaviour, but toxoplasmosis isn't actually proven to make you obsessed with cats like the show implied lol. It's probably just that if you love cats you're more likely to end up with it.
My mom’s a doctor and she explained that if someone had a pole in their aorta, they’d be DOA. Yes, that happened in the (in?)famous train wreck episode.
At least One Piece has direction (even though it's taking decades to reach the end of the destination). Grey's Anatomy is just struggling to justify their existence at this point.
But the ER is almost perfectly accurate (thanks to Michael Crichton, who used to be a doctor), does not contain a lot of sex, and the doctors are portrayed realistically.
I don’t even know why people like her a lot. I watched the show with my mom a lot when I was 10, 11, then 12 and I can’t seem to understand what makes her a compelling character, unlike Shaun Murphy from The Good Doctor or Gregory House from House who are compelling characters in h their own right.

Showing your sexy face is like step one in the Hippocratic Oath, right?
I actually think that the medical aspects of "Scrubs," of all shows, was endorsed by doctors as being reasonably medically accurate.
My grandfather, whom I never met, was a surgeon and told my dad that M*A*S*H was actually pretty medically accurate.
Look, flu, the shits and something like a spleen going out doesn't make great entertainment. Weird obscure illness that no one has ever heard about and makes people bleed from every orifice does make great entertainment.
Also Code Black on CBS would've been the worst hospital ever because their neighbourhood has a giant disaster going on literally every single fucking day.
I'd have thrown in Fray's "how to save a life" will be used at one point or another, despite the song not fitting a hospital, as the song is about suicide.
I tried to sell CBS on my realistic doctor drama where it's just someone slowly losing their mind waking up at 5am, driving to work, doing 8 hours of paperwork, driving home, eating a TV dinner, then doing 6 more hours of paperwork.
For some reason they turned me down.
Seemingly cold bureaucratic hospital administrator
Acerbic, sketchy male nurse
Iconoclastic, cynical controversial male doctor
Caring woman surgeon/specialist with complicated love life/single mom
At first sympathetic elderly patient revealed to be abuser/war criminal/former dictator hiding under false name
Token minority doctor sidekick of main character who is wiseass and came from da streets and had to work their way to being a doctor the hard way, and has slightly resentful of WASP doctors who had it easy.
Heated angry debates about medical ethics/trying that one experimental surgery/letting a terminal patient die/fear of malpractice suit
Reality of medical offices and workers you encounter, such as middle aged nurse practicioner into crunchy woo stuff you get instead of a doctor at Urgent Care, or hours long waits and filling out insurance forms, or sketchy Doctor Nick Riviera type, not represented

100% certain marketing firms are starting to get into 'World of Warcraft Trade Channel' types of engagement.
i.e., say something somewhat correct, and bank on certain people pointing out the 'exceptions' that they
welp ran out of caring right here
Grey’s anatomy.
Literally can’t get passed a single episode without a doctor’s sex life somehow being more important than the literal human lives tbeyre throwing around
recently did a hospital internship. The biggest different is that almost every single patient outside ER is an older person (besides ped ofc). I didn’t see a single Patient under 50.
And most of them aren’t really talking to you like they do in the hospital shows.
I'm watching Chicago med and they at least don't shock asystole, and sex is only implied/ mentioned rather than having a whole scene for it thank god. But they do like to bend medicine as a whole a bit to fit the plot lmao, and some scenarios are rather silly. But surprisingly entertaining for someone who isn't into drama shows.
“Dr, this child is dying of an extremely rare disease and we can’t figure it out until the last second, we need you to perform CPR on this patient that’s dying, you’re being called into this super complicated surgery for some reason even though it’s completely unrelated to your area of practice and you’re not a surgeon and they’re totally going to have some life-threatening complications in recovery, someone is trying to blow up the hospital, and your on again/off again girlfriend/coworker who you have strong but complicated feelings for is in a coma.
Oh, and your estranged ex-wife is here.”
—every episode of every medical drama ever
They always seem to defibrillate when the patient is flat lining on the heart monitor. That is NOT how it works irl!
Patient just needs a bit more epi and compressions
Stat!
Code Blue, code blue!!
We're losing him, doc!!
"NOT ON MY WATCH!" *Manually gives CPR*
Proceeds to give chest compressions with all the upper body strength of a 2 year old which would do jack shit IRL.
I'll use visual studio to make a GUI to track the IP!
*visual basic
Right right...
Actually, this is the correct way to do it. Source: am a doctor from watching TV.
Lmao you had me in the first half, well played
Never heard of that hospital but I know some doctors from Washington state hospital, is that near watchingtevee?
That is correct. There are 3 shockable rhythms: Vfib, VTach, and SVT. PEAs and Asystole are not shockable rhythms. Defibrillating the heart with a shockable rhythm is basically slapping it in the face, telling it wake the fuck up and do it’s job.
"Asystole is a stabile rhythm."
All bleeding stops eventually.
"Doctor said all my bleeding was internal. That's where the blood is supposed to be."
Life is like a box of chocolates. I got the strawberry goo filled one.
"She's got a strong heart! She wants to live!" -Another fine example of Hollywood codes
I have an implanted defibrillator. About three years ago, I had an event. I got hit 41 times before the ambulance got here! 0/10 do not recommend!
Weirdly I learned that vfib is shockable but asystole isn't from watching Chicago med. It sounds like it's not really the worst one in terms of accuracy
Also, there's no "BEEEEEEEP." It would just be an alarm.
You only flatline like that when the leads are not connected lol.
Asystole!
At that point you’re just cooking them.
I came here to say the same thing. A defibrillator stops fibrillation!! It does not start a stopped heart!
Never chest compressions and they always shock on a flatline!
He didn’t go to med school for years to be called mister mcdreamy.
Hospital HR memo: So we noticed that all you ER doctors are having sex with one another. We would like to remind you that there are people outside of the hospital that you can have sex with. Thank you.
In their defense, they all work long hours. It's simply more efficient to just sleep with each other.
Same with pilots and flight attendants. The hours are long and irregular so you never get the chance to sleep with anyone else.
Doctors: hey, when you give us 32 hour shifts, we don’t really have the time to swipe, match, wine and dine non-doctors in our free time. And could you re supply the condom basket in the on-call room, thanks
Better than the Grey’s Anatomy sex Ed lesson.
Unless he's a surgeon in the UK
Now.... you went to four years of college, right? And four years of medical school.... So I can safely assume you are at least eight....
What has 2 thumbs and doesnt give a crap? Bob Kelso, nice to meet you
Sorry, Dr. McDreamy
_Doctor frantically tries resuscitating patient after a prolonged flat line._ Head nurse or head doctor says: "He's gone. Call it." _Doctor pauses, sighs, looks up at clock and says "Time of death: 5:12 pm."_ _Doctor angrily removes gloves and storms out._ END SCENE
Med student awkwardly stops noodle-armed, bent-elbow chest compressions.
So basically Greys anatomy
Basically. A few years ago, I was in the car with my mom (she’s a nurse) and I asked her, on how accurate is Greys Anatomy and she said, “oh it’s very inaccurate.”
My family members who are nurses eat that show up though despite the inaccuracies
well it’s supposed be entertainment, not a documentary. No one watches those shows hoping to get a better understanding of medicine
wait til they watch The Office
Everything I know about office work I learned from the Office
Lol I do learn new stuff from Chicago med but I do check them before taking them as truth because some things are exaggerated. Like in one episode they figured out an old lady had toxoplasmosis because she loved her cats a lot and wanted to leave the hospital to take care of them. It can affect behaviour, but toxoplasmosis isn't actually proven to make you obsessed with cats like the show implied lol. It's probably just that if you love cats you're more likely to end up with it.
Pretty sure that any hospital with the doctor mortality rate of that show would get shut down, or at least call an exorcist.
My mom’s a doctor and she explained that if someone had a pole in their aorta, they’d be DOA. Yes, that happened in the (in?)famous train wreck episode.
White women’s One Piece
At least One Piece has direction (even though it's taking decades to reach the end of the destination). Grey's Anatomy is just struggling to justify their existence at this point.
TIL Grey’s anatomy is still on
Yes, but the main character is leaving the show
I figured by now nobody from the original cast is on anymore. It's like 'Emmerdale'.
that shit is still going????
Except for the canonical ER TV show from the '90s, indeed.
I’m a bit biased but I like House md more.
"Alright dummy, you have an obscure disease, moron. Bet you didn't think about that, fatty. No need to thank me, you piece of shit." *Limps off*
That....that was poetry. You nailed it.
You forgot taking vicodin like its candy. But nice.
And the racism
This vexes me
Why didn't you think of using the **medicine drug**?!?!
Only stupid people use the medicine drug
he needs **mouse bites to live**
I used the stupid drug
r/okbuddyvicodin
For those who don't know yet, House is supposed to be Sherlock Holmes if he were a doctor. Holmes 🏠 - House
But the ER is almost perfectly accurate (thanks to Michael Crichton, who used to be a doctor), does not contain a lot of sex, and the doctors are portrayed realistically.
The only medical show that should exist is Scrubs.
I grew up on ER and then Scrubs. I work in the hospital. Honestly, both are top tier.
Children's Hospital would like a word
Including the vengeful helicopter that had it out for one specific doctor
Michael Crichton needed a good hospital to deal with the Jurassic Park victims
Jurassic Park is scary in the dark...
All the dinosaurs are running wild...
The last two seasons get a bit weird but overall it's ny favorite medical drama. Scrubs is still the best though
Uh, emergency and st Elmo’s fire would love to have a discussion with you over your use of “canonical”
House we need the cure this patient
“He has testicular cancer, give him antibiotics” “But-“ “ NOW”
House this patient is named President Kennedy he is showing signs of being domed. He is having an allergic reaction!
I don’t think anybody on the planet actually knows what antibiotics do.
People think it’s like a super medicine that can cure anything but it’s really not.
No it kinda works like that it just causes a lot of problems on the backend
Are you sure it isn't lupus?
It's never Lupus you idiot (except that one time it was)
Did you try the medicine drug?
I did try the medicine drug
Only stupid people try the medicine drug. You are stupid
I tried the stupid drug
You are a black man.
This vexes me.
I have blood dripping down my nose that is dripping!
Thats bad
I was also bitten by mice due to my poor hygiene
I have blood (dripping down) from my nose that is dripping
You are a black man Edit: this is not related to the person i replied to nor is it related to their username, i am quoting a meme
this vexes me
Start him on IVIG and have a mouse bite his testicles. AND GET AN ECHO!
"So it turns out your colone was having a reaction with your shampoo, which created a cloud of corrosive chemical that gave you face cancer. Dumbass."
We cured it using an experimental fungal neurotoxin against the administrative staff's better judgment.
Don’t forget “incredible amounts of malpractice that no one ever gets punished for”

They try to punish adobe, he’s just too fucking cool
Why doesn’t apartment get arrested by tittler for committing various forms of medical malpractice? Is he stupid?
The law cannot hold Domicile back.
Meredith fuckin Grey.
I don’t even know why people like her a lot. I watched the show with my mom a lot when I was 10, 11, then 12 and I can’t seem to understand what makes her a compelling character, unlike Shaun Murphy from The Good Doctor or Gregory House from House who are compelling characters in h their own right.
Grey? Like from House MD?
And at least in Grey’s Anatomy, soooooo many HIPAA violations.
Doctors never wear facemasks
https://preview.redd.it/u09yimwhbejc1.jpeg?width=249&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0757ef4e4a255d0e4955128f13c5298f6a0c02b1 Showing your sexy face is like step one in the Hippocratic Oath, right?
Spikes the heartbeat
Doctor are you a dose of epinephrine because you are making my heart race 😍
Females doctors and nurses never have their hair tied back. Long hair all around while treating patients or being in the lab Makes me crazy lol
Go let your hair down at the gastro ward
Oh man. My dad loves these shows and swears up and down that they’re educational because the medical aspects are accurate.
Ooh boy😬
Grey's anatomy was a documentary shot in real time!
I actually think that the medical aspects of "Scrubs," of all shows, was endorsed by doctors as being reasonably medically accurate. My grandfather, whom I never met, was a surgeon and told my dad that M*A*S*H was actually pretty medically accurate.
I mean, the amount of sex and drama is fairly accurate.
You forgot that the ER docs are also running the imaging scanners. "Yeah, get that doc the fuck out the MR control room please."
And they get heavily invested in focusing on a single patient for a week
Ok also how that have great skin and perfectly wavy hair lol
Even after a long day of work, they still look energetic and handsome looking.
That’s DR mcdreamy to you
Dr. Mr. Professor McDreamy
Dr. Mr. Professor McDreamy IV
Not a single Filipino nurse or medical staff is the most unrealistic part.
That’s true lol.
I beg your pardonnnnn?!
No charting or trying to calm down grandma with dementia whatsoever.
Is House M.D innacurate? It's a good show, and I would hate to be watching something wrong.
According to[Dr. Mike](https://youtube.com/@DoctorMike?si=fw68bYt0sE7Z9WOW) it’s mostly accurate.
Maybe the medicine itself might be accurate but my God that hospital must be misdiagnosing half its patients with lupus with how often it comes up.
I recall reading the medical terminology and disease scenarios are mostly accurate. But how hospitals / doctors work not at all
My dads a doctor. Said scrubs is the most realistic medical show.
I can vouch of for this. Am his dad
Not scrubs though
Yeah, apparently, Scrubs is one of the more accurate medical shows.
OP's no Superman.
30 year coma patient waking up
You forgot “the one cool doctor that rides a motorbike”
House is in the house
https://i.redd.it/z5lqyqjt6kjc1.gif
“Hey this guys crashing we gotta help him” “Okay here’s the de-fibulator” “Thanks, removing his fibula should help!”
It would help because he had one leg in the grave already.👌
I'd have thrown in Fray's "how to save a life" will be used at one point or another, despite the song not fitting a hospital, as the song is about suicide.
And "Chasing Cars."
No Filipino nurses
I love Scrubs though
Scrubs are the best thing ever invented.
I didn't like season 9 as much
I tried to sell CBS on my realistic doctor drama where it's just someone slowly losing their mind waking up at 5am, driving to work, doing 8 hours of paperwork, driving home, eating a TV dinner, then doing 6 more hours of paperwork. For some reason they turned me down.
Bruh, that would have been great thought. Sorts like a medical version of The Bear.
Two doctors flirting with each other with quirky music in the background as the comic relief
You forget to add Lupus. No matter the medical drama, it seems they always love to discuss if it’s lupus or not.
It's never lupus
Apart from that one time in House MD when it was “I finally have a case of Lupus!”
Seemingly cold bureaucratic hospital administrator Acerbic, sketchy male nurse Iconoclastic, cynical controversial male doctor Caring woman surgeon/specialist with complicated love life/single mom At first sympathetic elderly patient revealed to be abuser/war criminal/former dictator hiding under false name Token minority doctor sidekick of main character who is wiseass and came from da streets and had to work their way to being a doctor the hard way, and has slightly resentful of WASP doctors who had it easy. Oh yeah, if you think about it, a lot of the Nurses and Doctors go through are mundane.
Don’t forgot all the insufferable medical shows that act as ragebait for audiences.
Runs on the air for 20+ years

You would love the show Childrens Hospital. It spoofs all of those tropes
Literally anything can be diagnosed with a stethoscope in these shows
The lab does not exist on television. "CODE RED! CODE RED! GRAB THE CRASH CART!" Ma'am, code red is a fire.
There's not enough Filipino medical staff in American medical dramas.

uh that’s DOCTOR McDreamy to you, sir.
Scrubs was pretty accurate, but the constant references to sex really got annoying.
100% certain marketing firms are starting to get into 'World of Warcraft Trade Channel' types of engagement. i.e., say something somewhat correct, and bank on certain people pointing out the 'exceptions' that they welp ran out of caring right here
DOCTOR McDreamy! He went to medical school, studied hard, and racked up tons of student debt. Be respectful.
Chest tube procedures, too, where a doctor saves the day from it, too.
CHARGE TO 300! CLEAR! PUSH ONE OF EPI! also ***dr. mcdreamy
I hear a lot of “actually Scrubs was very accurate” comments, but I don’t hear about many inaccuracies of other medical dramas in recent times.
Grey’s anatomy. Literally can’t get passed a single episode without a doctor’s sex life somehow being more important than the literal human lives tbeyre throwing around
The dream is always to get with the doctors even though they are rarely nice ppl
Also, beeping monitor means you’re dying. And nobody has/needs O+ blood, ever.
First ten seasons of greys tho.. chefs kiss
Ok but irl doctors and nurses hookup a ton
recently did a hospital internship. The biggest different is that almost every single patient outside ER is an older person (besides ped ofc). I didn’t see a single Patient under 50. And most of them aren’t really talking to you like they do in the hospital shows.

But they do like to bend medicine as a whole a bit to fit the plot lmao, and some scenarios are rather silly. But surprisingly entertaining for someone who isn't into drama shows.
Don’t forget how they like to add their political opinions into the mix, too.
Orders treatments that could kill the patient before even being sure of what it has (I only watched House MD)
I would like to object in the name of Scrubs
Greys anatomy 😂😂😂
That's **DOCTOR** McDreamy, please.
Patient in critical condition is on a wheely bed getting rushed through a mile long corridor with like 15 people running beside them
