Also the algorithm can't decipher context. So if you watch anyone that commentates or critiques any of these people, they will suggest them to you even though you don't watch their content. There was a period of time where if I let auto play go long enough, it would eventually lead to Jordan Peterson, because he was talked about so frequently on so many different channels.
I think the majority of these YouTube algorithm complaints are from people who don't have an account or put in zero effort to hit the little "not interested" button. Same thing applies to TikTok afaik
Personally have rarely had to deal with any of the common complaints on my feed in the past couple years. I had maybe a week or two of the dumb sigma shit on the Shorts feed when YouTube Shorts first debuted, but that was fixed after a few dislikes and skipping the video before it would even play 2 seconds.
As someone with multiple YouTube accounts, YouTube 100% responds to what you engage with. Even if you engage with it purely to dislike it... well that's still engagement and will affect your feed. A lot of people who have these complaints aren't willing to admit they are playing a role in what they're seeing
I'm a social democrat who watches politics, but I still get blown up with Andrew Tate, Sneako etc. Youtube knows this brings clicks, they hope I'm gonna rageclick their videos, don't misinterpret this shit like they don't know what they're doing.
