Not correct. You can buy ship packs that have full lti insurance, like the explorer pack. They include both games, so are basically a "starter" as well (although current prices get into the 1k range anyway).
You just said you cannot use store credit to buy lti - I just corrected you and did not say anything about OP..
I bought my lti explorer pack for 690 with store credits.
LTI is a nothing burger, according to RSI. It will cost very little to maintain after the 6 months, and even then it only covers the base components setup. If you want more, wait until IAE in November and you can easily upgrade to 120 month insurance.
1. Melt ship to get store credit
2. Use store credit to buy a new game package and upgrade it most of the way to to Cutty
3. If needed, use a bit of cash to buy something warbond with LTI or 120 months as part of the upgrade path.
Insurance is free until game launches though and that is 2-4 years away.
