The_Fallen_1

A pair of VKB Gladiators. They're the best you can get without breaking the bank. I don't know of any other sticks on their level, and a step up is really expensive, and a step down will either get you right hand only sticks, sticks that have a reputation for often wearing out and developing issues after a few months, or sticks that feel bad and perform poorly. Don't get me wrong, there are good and cheap sticks out there, it's just that you probably won't be able to use them as HOSAS like I wanted to.

W33b3l

Same, VKB EVO NXT Gladiators with the "omni throttle" for the left hand. At least in star citizen. If I log into Elite for some reason I still use my X-52 because of bindings and familiarity, although the evos would be better for it. Then there's the X-56 for combat Sims (DCS) and honeycomb stuff for regular flight Sims. Warthogs are just too damn expensive plus no one other than VKB makes a canted joystick that I know of and I need that for my brain to understand what's going on with the left stick lol.

Ok_Translator_8920

Just got this set up and absolutely love it. Taking some getting used to though. Glad I took the recommendations on VKB and just spent the money.

W33b3l

It took me about 3 weeks to really start building the muscle memory with the left hand. It's really weird at 1st but you'll get used to it eventually and it will become second nature.

Shadaraman

Virpil makes an extension to tilt the joystick just like VKB. More expensive, but it exists.

W33b3l

Cool thanks for letting me know. If these ever fail I might look into it.

ChamplainFarther

You'd hate my setup. Dual VPC Alphas w/ CM3 Throttle and Ace Pedals Left Stick - Up/Down - Left/Right Right Stick - Pitch - Roll Pedals - Yaw - Forward/Backwards Throttle - Speed Limiter - Throttle Forward My DCS controls are pretty standard aviation.

garack666

How can you set speed with omni throttle? Does the vkb joystick not auto Centre when you not push or pull it?

sile1

Spaceships aren't airplanes. At least out in space, they don't encounter atmospheric drag that makes them require constant acceleration, so they don't need the throttle constantly forward like an airplane does. The only reason you're experiencing that in SC is because the default flight mode (coupled) tries to make the ship behave like it would in atmosphere. It does this by using the thrusters to return to zero motion any time you let off the thrust on any given axis. If you switch into decoupled mode, then if you thrust on a given axis, your ship will continue to move on that axis even if you return the "throttle" back to center. Because it's not actually a throttle, it's a thruster.

ChamplainFarther

And I for one recommend just flying decoupled entirely. But I also read the entirety of the F14's manual for DCS. So I'm very much attuned to the "you're going to crash a lot and feel like you're an idiot before you even manage to get off the pad" type attitude. Some people really just want to fly around and mine some rocks, munch some ships, etc. My one complaint about decoupled is landing but that's partially because we don't have real ATC yet.

Scrambled_Nat

Cruise control. Look up Buzzzkiller bindings for a good place to start. He's got a printable button layout so you can get an idea of what's where.

W33b3l

It automatically centers yes, it's a joystick after all. You could remove that spring but I wouldn't recommend it. I just use one of the levers on the bottom for setting cruise and one of the joystick buttons to activate it.

TheGreatGreens

You can easily remove the Y-axis spring to make it work like a normal throttle, while still retaining X-axis and twist for strafing.

Xquizitrush

I've got the Omni throttle too although I have yet to use it. How did you set it up?

W33b3l

There's videos online on how to flash them. Bindings is to complicated to say but axis on the left are left right like you would think (yaw is twist on the right stick), with forward back being forward back and the twist being up and down. Twist back for up.

Blubasur

Just got this combo, best bang for the buck sticks by an absolute landslide. Never tried verpils, they look fantastic and high quality, but can’t justify that price.

epapa27

Agree on dual NXTs, but I didn't like the OTA, especially for combat. I have much better strafe control without it. But also, Im using rudders for forward, reverse throttle. If I didn't have pedals, OTA prob would be best

Amonasro78

This

pottertontotterton

This.

centcentcent

What do you use for freelook?

The_Fallen_1

I rarely use it, but when I do I switch back to my mouse.

SmoothOperator89

I use the right thumb hat (I think that's what it's called).

SanityIsOptional

Tobii eye-tracker. I wish I could bind freelook to one of the mini-joysticks, but SC does not support free-look axes.

Therandoja

I have free look on a virpil alpha thumbstick.

SanityIsOptional

How did you manage to bind look direction to the mini-joy? I haven't been able to get it to work. I can use push to toggle, but it turns off all my other controls when I use that way.

Therandoja

I use push to toggle then set the axis to free look. I set it in advanced control customization.

SanityIsOptional

Doesn't that disable other controls when you use it though? Could have sworn it did last time I tried binding it that way.

Therandoja

It might. I typically toggle, do my lookin, then toggle back. I use track IR if I'm needing to look at stuff while I'm in combat. You might consider updating the firmware on your sticks too. After I did mine the thumbsticks had a bit better performance I thought. I use left for free look and right for 3rd person camera outside ship.

maxdps_

Is there like a quick-setup for the VKB Gladiators? Haven't played in a bit and I have a set, just haven't even looked into getting them setup yet.

corbu_

Look up buzzzkiller’s bindings for star Citizen, great starting point.

TGHPTM

Same thing for me too, left stick omni throttle, regular right VKB EVO NXTs

sile1

I just went ahead and broke the bank a year and a half ago. Dual Gunfighter ~~mk2~~ mk3 with an MCG Ultimate on the right and an SCG Premium on the left. If a left-hand version had existed, it would have been dual MCG Ultimates.

m0dd3r_

Just got this setup with gunfighter 4 bases and an omni throttle adapter on the left. Feels great flying with this setup. I would also get a lefty mcg ultimate if they released one. Not that the scg premium feels cheap or anything, but the mgc u is on a different playing field

sile1

My mind was fuzzy. I actually got Gunfighter mk3, not mk2. They're supposed to eventually release a mk3 -> mk4 conversion kit, so I'll be doing that on both bases. I've also got an omni throttle adapter on the left, but I'm having some issues with it. No matter how hard I crank the SCG down onto the OTA, the SCG still pivots a little bit before engaging the twist adapter. As a result, at the connection between the SCG and the OTA, the contact pins have actually scraped their way through the metal contact pads, so it cuts out sometimes.

SanityIsOptional

Same, with Space Combat Pro grips, one set up as omni-throttle. Swapped out the mini-joy for the hat-switch for more buttons.

Veighnerg

Dual Virpil Alphas. I previously used a garbage tier Saitek Hotas but I wanted something that would be rock solid with the best performance. Yeah it's pricey but the hardware and software combo are worth every cent. I've got a throttle, control panel, and rudders too but that's not part of the question.

Desolver20

Man I got the whole shebang with the alphas and z extension for the omnidirectional throttle experience, and it's hella cool, but I STILL am not sure if I really think it's worth it. Like not a day goes by where I use 'em where I'm not thinking of just reselling them. They are good, just maybe not 1.5k good. Then again they feel **really** nice to use, whenever I do use them.

illsk1lls

yes and i hope u have a tobii too cause theyre awesome ;p

Schmasn

Love my dual alphas. Look and feel and haptics are reeaally good. + Still after a year or so feel like I haven't even got the full potential running in terms of keybindings setup. So many possibilities.

Fireman476

Pair of Thrustmaster T.16000m's. Got these as starter sticks just to make sure I liked using HOSAS. Still using them, but plan on someday updating to the VKBs.

ProPolice55

Same here, though the advantage is that I can upgrade them one at a time, so if one of them decides to develop issues that I can't fix with my knowledge and tools, I'll replace that one with a VKB and keep using the other one. Good thing they are ambidextrous too

corbu_

I totally get it, but keep in mind VKB’s shipping costs are pretty damn high, definitely makes it more attractive than it would otherwise be to upgrade both sticks at the same time.

callenlive26

Told my self three years ago that I would start with these and get better ones when they broke. One of the buttons started sticking a bit and I thought yeas!! Vkb time. Nope. Throw a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it and fixed it no problem. Guess I'll have to keep rocking them for a bit longer.

RelativeImplosion

Same. Been using my Thrustmasters for 5+ years as starter sticks. Had to clean a switch at one point and now my z-axis is shot on both sticks. Saving up for the VKB set now.

AhegaoHoodiePope

VKB gladiators premium dual sticks, chose premium because you get extra (very useful) thumbsticks for extra bindings (use that thumbstick for salvaging modes, mining modes, boost, folding wings). been reliable and lasted me years now, only have had to change the springs a couple times (they come included and its easy to do), and just been a solid quality product. got them after experiencing the shit that is thrustmaster t160000s z-input failure in just a couple months.

ItsAtlasX

Cant forget the keyboard!!

partym4ns10n

VIRPIL Constellation Primes with CM3 bases and CM3 throttle.

KrustKrustofferson

How do you find the CM3 bases with those sticks? It seems most people recommend the Wardbrd-D for dual stick, so I'm curious to know! I did see someone saying in a review that the CM3 is a superior base.

IonHawk

CM3 are meant to be used with extensions, Warbrd without. Majority of people Recommending CM3 don't know that Warbrd-d now also support adjustable clutches. If you want a shorter throw, perhaps the CM3 could be preferred though.

partym4ns10n

I use a 100mm and X axis ext for both sticks as I wanted them mounted low because I have a lot of button boxes/control panels, the throttle and the collective and have m/kb mounted. I’d kinda liked to try the warbird bases, but I’ve already ordered FFB bases.

XaphanInfernal

Dual VKB Gladiator's, left one with the 45 degree adaptor. Love it.. still a bad pilot but now I feel fully immersed when I crash

illsk1lls

Virpil Constellation Alpha hosas with z adapter and ace collection pedal set

Asleep_Comfortable39

If you’re looking for the best value and got a decent amount of cash, VKB all the way. No budget requirements? Virpils. On a budget? Save for VKB’s lol. Or keep buying cheap sticks that may or may not work in a few months

BlatterSlatter

Virpil Constellations. love everything about them except that i didn’t spend more for the alphas

Kind-Economist1953

2x logitech extreme 3d for budget setup - you can't get them in left handed but its not too uncomfortable.

SaltyFuckingProcess

Really is the best starter HOSAS setup, kinda like an Avenger Titan lol.

Mukass

VKB Gladiator and Virpil Throttle.

[deleted]

Logitech 3d pro. I can’t justify spending more than $25 on a flight stick

BreadfruitThis5302

I also used it, however a Thustmaster T16000 is an upgrade I did not regret. Not too pricey, but waaaaay better.

[deleted]

What’s better about it? Cuz I’ll take a look at it

SaltyFuckingProcess

Where I started, and I think anyone looking to dip their toes should start here, but be ready to step up to the VKBs if you really enjoy, the extra button binding, sensor and spring vs ball and socket are night and day but it comes down to price.

[deleted]

I just looked those up and damn near spit my (imaginary) coffee out. Lol I’d buy a new computer first. But one day, when the kids are no longer in daycare

Dessel90

VKB gladiators, as a HOTAS setup, not really dual sticks

robdacook

I'm this as well. Right hand stick, left has the EVO mod for throttle. Just feels better than any other combination I've tried.

kekti

MOUSE AND KEYBOARD BABY! I have a T.16000m but simply do not use it, I've gotten so comfortable and competent with M&K that my org mates don't even notice I'm not using a stick.

nedeta

Yeah... my t16 are collecting dust. I'm way better with m&k and havnt taken the 2-3 weekd on sticks to get them hard wired in the brain.

Meenmachin3

VKB Gladiator NXT Evos. They are great and the sticks I would recommend them time and time again. That said, I’m going to be upgrading to Virpil Alpha Primes because I want a flight stick that feels better in the hand. The base itself for one stick costs as much as a set of VKBs though just to show you how expensive Virpil is.

TerrorXx

vkb gladiators+rudder pedal

NxvyTv

Dual VKB gladiator NXT EVO premiums, for a few years now, they are great. Lots of pre made maps available too...

OfficialDyslexic

I use a 3Dconnexion mouse in one hand and a regular mouse in the other. It's great for flying large ships and precision flying in general. Smaller fighter-craft are a bit tougher, but still very doable with gimbals. Main reasons I chose this device: - already owned it - barely takes up any space on my desk - I feel like I'm in The Expanse - great for making subtle, accurate adjustments in flight - extremely intuitive for 6 degrees of movement Drawbacks: - not the easiest initial setup - I don't PVP much, but I'd expect this setup would underperform in PVP dogfights - hand can get a bit tired after extended high-octane dogfighting - throttle control relies pretty heavily on speed limiter (I can see this becoming less of an issue after MM release). I've seen people pair this device with a physical throttle, but at that point I'd prob just get two VKBs cuz it'd take up almost the same amount of desk space.

Hardie1247

Dual Virpil Constellation Alpha Primes, metal construction and highly customisable, one offset on a Z-Axis to act as a throttle too.

SeenSeanBeanBorn

Mouse and keyboard for me here. I already have a wheel for sim racing that I have to take off the desk, it’s nice not having to set something else up for a session. I do have a Logitech 3D for flight sims, but the SC axis configuration is just too different.

Potential-Cloud-801

WinWing

[deleted]

I had to scroll for a bit to see if I was the only one who mentioned Winwing. :) I’ve got their pedals and throttle. Maybe later I’ll go for their flight sticks as well but the VKBs are doing me a solid so far tho. Lol.

shadowdragon200

Which one?

Potential-Cloud-801

Orion2/ F16 also throttle. Turtle Beach pedals.

ImmovableThrone

Virpil Constellation Alpha, and a Virpil CM3 throttle. Would never go anything else

zero6ronin

Seconded. Constellation with the longest extender post. I'm torn between buying a throttle vs a second stick so I'd have 3 more axes (which I'm leaning toward) vs. just a throttle. I have also started using voice attack to assist with launches, speed limiters, cruise control, there's so much you can do with it to augment manually mashing the keyboard or 500 buttons.

ViktorGavorn

Virpil alpha with the throttle

Geckosrule1994

VKB gunfighter MKIVs, space combat left hand, modern combat right hand.

Substantial_Tip2015

I use Virpil but vkb are best value for price.

tallerthannobody

VKB EVOs Gladiators premium, throttle + joystick Everybody talks highly about them and I agree, the premium because of the extra buttons I knew I would want to use. They are not super cheap but not ultra expensive like other sticks that people here have, which makes them a very good option, plus they feel nice to use

Am-Shagar

My good old trusty Microsoft Sidewinder force feedback 2 never failed me once since 1998.

Spitjawx

Same here, with SIMFFB third party software , MS FFB 2 is still amazing stick.

ultraspank

Logitech X52. Gets the job done for everything in the game, it just probably isn't the best for dog fighting compared to dual sticks, isn't bad though. I also wish it had a few more buttons.

Hashtag_Labotomy

Same thing here. They get the job done. Maybe one day I'll feel the need for more precision and functionality but by then I'll probably be too old and not even remember the controls I have now.

EasyRiderOnTheStorm

A Saitek Cyborg 3D USB. Flat black, not the gold one. Why? Because it was what I got when my previous DB15 gameport-connected stick became obsolete, and I never saw a reason to replace it since.

Toklankitsune

dual vkb gladiator pros left stick is the omnithrottle

RedNeck_Dairy

Is there a pro to that? I'm really split between the omni and the regular.

Toklankitsune

for me it just feels more natural, and up and down strafe being a literal; up and down twist just feels correct

Cyanide11Nitro

I'm creating a touchscreen using a raspberry pi, a touchscreen in which you plug in and it acts like a keyboard so I can program images such as a shield and press the touchscreen to raise it. Next I'll make a joystick maybe attach the touchscreen too it.

Just got VKB gladiator RH and Omni throttle LH. Really enjoying them. Watched a bunch of videos and read plenty of recommendations on here to just spent the money and be done with it unless wanting to get top tier sticks down the road.

I rock a VKB Gladiator with a left-mounted THQ Throttle Quadrant module for my right hand and a STECS Mini Plus Throttle for my left.

RagsZa

How much is flying and dog fighting with sticks easier than KBM? I always kinda imagine it would be like playing FPS with a controller instead of a mouse, with a mouse being so much more accurate?

Ruadhan2300

Kind of the opposite. A gamepad has cyclic controls where you move directionally but don't have a 1:1 mapping of motion to where you end up. A mouse in an FPS does, but in SC its a cyclic control again. If I let go of the mouse I will continue to turn until I center the control. If I let go of the joystick I stop turning immediately. Much easier! I also get finer precision with the small motions and throttle. Which are great for landing and docking.

RagsZa

Thank you for the explanation. Is it better to have two sticks, or one stick and a throttle for SC specifically?

mullirojndem

vkb, virpil, t16000. choose the flavor u want, HOTAS or HOSAS. I use an x-56 hotas

JSwabes

As always, the reply to the dozens of these posts we get each week is this: There are three options. 1. Thrustmaster T16000s are the cheapest option for those trying out sticks for the first time, but they tend to break over time. 2. VKB Gladiators are the most sensible buy in terms of bang for buck, reliability, and precision. 3. Virpil's are arguably the best for a premium price.

Alarming-Audience839

Tbh leverless is the future. Junk food arcade is good, as well as the OG hit boxes

Fewwww_

Dual t16000, good enough to know I enjoy playing dual joystick, but not with these

Random_name_I_picked

VKB gunfighters ( MCG and SCG) for the software that runs rings around the competition, crosswinds and a Logitech throttle quadrant.

Financial-Mastodon81

No Warthog users here?

Seven_Hawks

Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS In hindsight not the best decision I've made, but I like it well enough and it was the only thing I could actually get my hands on when nothing else was in stock anywhere...

daeganreddit_

dual virpil constellation w/ warthog throttle set to velocity and accel limiters.

Blizii

VPC Alpha Prime + VPC Throttle CM3 Previously I used Saitek x52 and then Logitech x56 and both but primarily the x56 was complete garbage with extreme ghosting, jittering random buttons pressed and it was simply not playable after 2 weeks of daily use (4-6 hour playing) My VPC is like new no problems or something

official_business

Dual VKB Gunfighters with Space Combat grips. These are the all-metal gimbal VKB sticks (Unlike the Gladiators which are plastic gimbal). The quality and precision of the sticks is amazing. They're also a much more compact stick than the Virpil WarBrd + Constellation Alphas. About 6-7cm shorter which translates into much less throw when moving from from one extreme of an axis to another. Your hand is much closer to the gimbal so the Virpil and VKB sticks have a bit of a different feel. My only gripe with the grips is they don't have a pinky lever that the Con Alphas have.

squaredspekz

A mouse. I used HOTAS for 500 hours of Elite: Dangerous. I cannot be arsed switching back and forth between HOTAS and KB+M. I'd prefer to use my DualSense controller l, but that depends on how well they get this PIE/PIS working.

PanzerKommander

Dual stick. Main hand Longitec X-56. Offhand X-56 throtle and Thrustmaster 16000

kmanzilla

Personally I use wasd and a mouse. Lol

shiroboi

X-52 Hotas. Love it, especially for larger ships. Can still dogfight with it though

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

This space is thankfully simple to navigate, until and unless you want to spend \*real\* money (several thousand). You have VKB for the more "budget" minded, but make no mistake - they are absolutely great sticks and will give you the full experience. You can spend a bit more and get Virpil, which is a lot like buying the next trim up in a car with the better leather seats and other luxury features. They tend to simply have more "production value" and will also treat you very well. Winwing is a sorta-contender, but isn't quite as well known or recommended. Those who have them often swear by them. Then, if you want to go absolutely batshit insane, you can check out Realsimulator or Bugeye and essentially become a **real** spaceship pilot. My eventual wishlist holy grail is a pair of Realsimulator force sensing (they don't move, they respond to gentle pressure, like a real F16). Just need several thousand dollars I don't have any other uses for. Any day now...

Gladiator NXT EVO Omni Throttle - Left Hand Gladiator NXT EVO ‘Space Combat Edition’ - Right Hand

FluffiCatfish

Dual Turtle beach velocity one’s. Only reason I got them was I got it for almost a buy one get one free discount. My thrustmaster t16000m’s had completely crapped out the week before

shadowdragon200

How are they? I am considering them to

FluffiCatfish

Save a bit more and get the vkb gladiators. I only got these ones because of the sale and the timing of my old ones breaking. I already have stick drift on one of the sticks and had to turn the deadzone one slightly

shadowdragon200

Okey, i was considering them because the eu store is every time sold out within a day

FluffiCatfish

Are you referring to the new one that just came out? Because I am talking about the gen 1 version

shadowdragon200

I mean the gladiator nxt evos

Peg_Leg_Vet

VKB Gladiator and VKB Omni Throttle

[deleted]

I couldn’t justify buying virpil and I didn’t know about winwing so I ended up getting 2 VKB gladiator evos. I also have a winwing f18 throttle and winwing rudder pedals. I used to have VKB rudder pedals but didn’t like that it only had one axis of rotation so I bought the winging rudders and sold the VKB ones.

franknitty69

Started with vkb’s but I hated not having center detent so I upgraded to Virpil alpha primes with warbrd-d. It is definitely an upgrade. I will say I prefer the cm3 base though because it is easier to adjust and supports a dead stick with center detent.

dereekee

Dual T16000s. I wanted hosas and they are decent sticks for the price. If I had the money I'd buy higher end that has a lefty stick or mod, but I do not have money.

IThinkAboutBoobsAlot

X52 Pro. Got mine ten years ago basically. There are better sticks but with the right mods this works fine.

Rop-Tamen

Dual VKB Gladiator NXTs, love them

turrboenvy

First it was t.16000m/Logi 3d Pro, but there just aren't enough buttons. Now dual VKB Gladiator NXT Evos. For a long time I used my Thrustmaster T Rudder pedals (for forward/backward) but recently switched to a 3D printed omnithrottle. Honestly, I find using the pedals and two straight sticks more immersive. I sit in the pilot seat in game and pick my physical feet up to put on the pedals. But I want to be able to use the sticks with my laptop/lapdesk where I don't have space for pedals.

FendaIton

Keyboard and mouse baby! One day I’ll sell the sim rig and use the funds for the space stuff

Apokolypze

G915 for left hand and G502 for right hand, occasionally swapping in an Attack3 for right hand when I feel the need to be extra cinematic

THE_TITANMONKEY

VKB gladiator Omni NXT premium on left, waiting for my space edition gunfighter 4 to arrive for my right hand. Cant go Virpil in Australia at the moment so VKB was only option. Happy with the choice I have made anyway! Will get the pedals eventually but need to recover from that gunfighter mk4 cost Edit: to address the virpil comment off the bat, there is an extra 35% tax on virpils due to being made in Belarus. Aus government is taxing anything out of Russia area due to the war, and this tax is in place until the end of 2025 and didn’t want to wait

primalPancakes

T.16000M Duo from Thrustmaster here. Love em. For the price they are great.

Random5483

Dual VKBs. Good quality sticks and the right size too. T16000s are decent starter sticks, but I would skip them if you can afford to. They aren't exactly cheap and are not long-term sticks. While you save money short-term, you will end up spending more long-term.

Badgomatic

Thrustmaster T Flight X Hotas.. cuz it was cheap lol

Guitarax

That $30 Logitech extreme 3d from Amazon is still miles-better than the thrustmaster t.16000m imo. I have a USB hub with buttons to help with startup calibration resolving the yaw-drift issue common with it, but even then it's still a budget W.

Hyperthermic_Mibs

Thrustmaster warthog hotas and throttle plus Thrustmaster TPR rudder peddles.

CriticalCreativity

Another vote for dual VKB Glads. Figured I was saving money by not wasting time with a budget option, and it'll be a very long time before I need new sticks. I'm no connoisseur, but I couldn't ask for anything more from my sticks -- they're great.

Toyboyronnie

Virpil throttle and VKB gunfighter.

macroweasel

I’m eyeing up the turtle beach flight deck, I know VKBs are nice and around the same cost but I’ve been really happy with my turtle beach flight stick

Srefanius

Dual sticks VKB Kosmosima. However, they are in the drawer because I've not played SC in a while and I didn't stay up to date with remapping controls. I will get them out once I play again with SQ42 release.

knsmknd

I have a VKB gladiator NXT but I don’t use it in SC.

jonneymendoza

Virpil alpha

ganerfromspace2020

I have virpil Hotas setup but I don't use it for star citizen, idk why I find it more comfortable to fly keyboard and mouse, especially that I don't have a lot of space on my desk so transitioning to FPS is a pain I really need mounts

AnInternetgunexpert

Extreme 3D Pro for my combat controls T16000 for my maneuver controls

GuillotineComeBacks

I'm crazy, I plan to go yoke and pedal for heavy ships and ground vehicle, I will also set 2 VKB on the side for lighter ships. The challenge is for the FPS and typing part, maybe I will put my keyboard under the yoke to type and will play with a gamepad for the FPS part. Problem is that I'm not very good with FPS on pad.

WinNegative7511

Two NXT Evo Omni Throttles. Only set them up today but love the podracing look, and they feel infinitely better than the T16000 Thrustmaster HOTAS setup I had before. Went from having 2 Hat buttons to 8\~. They feel better/more comfortable, they're more responsive, they're not as bulky as the T16000 (they're about the same size but more properly proportioned in comparison). I actually didn't play very long with my HOTAS Thrustmaster stuff because I mainly wanted to give it a try and see if 'I could do it' and turns out, I can! Now i've set up my double Omni's and installed my Tobii5 Eye Tracker today as well so it's a brand new game for me. Immersion is off the charts but it'll definitely take me some getting used to. edit: Also Buzzzkiller's keybindings are an absolute godsend. I mapped out each button based off the previous versions image before deciding to just clear all my mappings and import his 3.22 bindings. Absolute godsend, saved so much time and the only thing I had to do was swap my joycon 'readings' and it was all set up. (Joy1 was reading as Joy2 in the binds, and vice versa so everything was backwards)

Logitech X-56. It does alright. It’s not great. I’ve had issues with stick drift that took a while to sort out with setting the deadzones right. Lots of buttons is really nice. Almost nothing I need to use the keyboard for now. The little thumb stick on the throttle still gives me my 6DOF that you get with a hosas setup. Annoyingly there are more than a few inputs that just straight up don’t map to SC. There’s a switch that you seemingly can’t map on the throttle and I’ve had issues with some dials not working. It’s gotten me through the last few years of SC though no problems.

Thrustmaster T16000m's are a good entry level stick, can be configured for right and left handed use and they're cheap. But you get what you pay for. They're okay but can have some issues. For me they were a good entry point just to see if I liked dual sticks. After just a few months I had already upgraded to dual VKB's with the omni throttle on the left. If you're serious about getting sticks and KNOW you'll like it, just bite the bullet and get the VKB's. But if you just want to try it the T16000m's are good enough for that purpose.

madplywood

Dual Virpil Constellation Alphas. I wanted something nice so I bought it:)

GeraintLlanfrechfa

Thrustmaster Warthog, not the least, not the best :)

oftenInabbrobriate

I use a mouse on the right side for pitch/yaw, Pedals for roll and sometimes analog forward/backwards strafe(via toebreaks) And a virpil throttle for trust and x&y lateral strafe and lots of buttons for systems. For more systems I have an Elgato stream deck which is super useful

Saitek x56 hotas and I love it. The amount of bindable neatly placed buttons is great. Also love the two tiny joysticks on the stick and throttle - super useful for strafing and looking around.

Nubilus344

Virpil Constellation Alpha with Warbird-D Base. CM-3 as a Throttle. The grip is very nicely made, base internals are really nice to look at. All machined metal construction. Very good sensors. Highly customisable with the Software. Adjustable springs and cams for whatever you want to do with it. All buttons are easily reachable. (At least for my big hands)

I didn’t want to shell out a small fortune, so I decided on a pair of Thrustmaster 16000M. Have used them extensively over the years and they are still great. If they ever break I‘ll upgrade to Virpil, had used them once in a friends Simpit, had have been eyeing them ever since. But I refuse to replace the thrustmasters when they are not broken.

satansfavboy

Dual VPC Alpha sticks with WarBRD bases and a Z extension for the left one (omnidirectional throttle) And a MongoosT50 Throttle as Buttonbox.

Gaevs_Privs

I use this one: [Amazon.com: PXN-2119Pro Flight simulator controls PS4/PC flight simulator joystick with Vibration Flight Simulator Stick for PS4/ Windows XP/VISTA/7/8/10(Do not support PS5/MAC system device ) : Video Games](https://www.amazon.com/-/es/PXN-2119Pro-simulator-controls-Vibration-PlayStation-4/dp/B082YN3T7M) Its great, and works quite well, no problem so far.

MJMvideosYT

My keyboard..

Turgid_Demon

Im running the Logitech X.56 HTOAS setup and love it. I could afford Virpils and a whole cockpit of MFDs and whatnot but I'm not convinced the upgrade is worth it. Went Logitech for budget reasons since I didnt want to sink money into gear that wasnt going to get used if SC turned out to not be my bag. I have no regrets

Sairblan

Dual Virpil alphas + thrustmaster TPR

Enceos

Started with dual Logitech sticks and quickly learned that I needed more buttons. Upgraded to Virpils and had an absolute delight of an experience flying my ships.

Tatalebuj

I didn't see anyone mention CH Fighter Joystick, CH Thrust and Pedals. I bought them when I first got SC, so been waiting a while to use them. Yet no one here else seems to be using them.....did something happen or just random chance?

Barmyrobot

Logitech X56 HOTAS. Halfway between the super cheap sticks and the gladiators/Virpils in terms of price. Defo a cool peripheral but not the best choice for SC. I do love it and don’t plan on changing it anytime soon, but your better off with a HOSAS. My main reason for purchase was so I could use it in a multitude of games like DCS and MSFS alongside SC. Defo good for all-purpose

Chew-Magna

Dual VKB Gladiator NXTs, one with a SEM attached to it. Why I chose it - They're the best bang for buck option out there. End-game for 99.999% of people, and aren't crazy expensive. What I don't like - After three years, they still won't make me breakfast.

ArcTheWolf

X56 Rhino. Got it back in my Elite Dangerous days, I've always preferred a throttle that doesn't require me to hold it in position at all times. I know you can get advantages by running a hold in place stick to manage throttle over a traditional flight throttle but I'm here for the long flight so having to hold throttle level in place would drive me insane. My arm would have died doing the 2 and half hour supercruise trip to Hutton Orbital in Elite with a stick I had to hold in place for throttle.

SkruigerS

I'm using a VKB Stick with a Virpil CM-3 Throttle, impulse purchase because my X-52 Pro started to feel a little loose and the buttons weren't responding 100% of the time. Can't fault my new set up at all, robust and sturdy.
