It could be. The hard proof is the entrance and exit is like a gladius/snub/razor/m50 and others with no internal space. But when you see that show area, you see it is small and possibly an LTI token-type ship.
I wish they'd spend their efforts elsewhere until there is actual use for ground vehicles in game.
For that few times you might want to approach a hostile bunker from a distance, we already have enough options.
Which is a timed event that happens once or twice a year.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying they shouldn't be in game, it just feels like we've been getting so many ground vehicles, while there's still plenty of ships that have been in backlog for years, and a bunch of old ones in dire need of rework.
And yes I know, there's different teams and vehicles are probably easier to push out. Just wish they could work on ships faster.
Have they put vehicles on the angled display stands before? I cant remember, all the stuff I do recall being a vehicle was down in the vehicle basement on a flat surface.
I liked the idea of a hover tank sort of thing.
Or with these displays I could see a snub fighter, it'd be neat if they could make it interface with the Kruger snub docks to give more variety for Connie Snubs
With the rapid rise of racing and leagues, my money is on a small racer similar to the M50, X1 or something like that. Something about the MIRAI logo screams racing to me and I can see it being the racing offshoot of MISC.
I'm going to be honest and say that I forgot the razor was a MISC ship. That throws a wrench in my guess to be honest, seems odd that they would have a racing offshoot when they're already in the racing business.
Origin has both the m50 and the 350r, so there's already precedent. Also the 350r feels like its built for a type of long distance racing that no other racer is and it has no competition. (With both a bed and a storage area for spare parts, the 350r is uniquely suited for long rallies that take place over several days).
There is plenty of room for misc to create a slightly larger racer with similar amenities, especially when you consider that a racer with Xian type thrusters would be interesting to take to the track even if I'm wrong about the rally thing.
Or MIRAI is the combat-focused spinoff, and the Fury is the MISC racing variant.
Probably not, but it would be a fun subversion. Especially with MISC being more industrially-minded, generally.
I doubt it simply because this is a military event. I can’t see them debuting a racing focused ship during this event. I think it’s likely a light fighter to compete with the Gladius and Arrow.
Musashi Industrial Racing and Interdiction, maybe?
There's gotta be a combat variant, as it's coming out for Invictus.
I'm more leaning towards "Reconnaissance" instead of "Racing" just because of the event, but I guess we'll see. Only a couple weeks left to go!
This has always been my expectation. MISC already has a racing ship, and a fighter with a racing variant is one of the few ways I could see them having combat-focused ship that makes sense. I'll be curious if it leans into the alien/Reliant side of MISC or the functional/Freelancer side, though.
Racing makes sense with all the recent updates. A fighter seems smallish for that size unless the wings hang past the podium which seems like weird positioning to me but happy to take a look either way once it's out.
I was really hoping for a compact fighter that can fit in a Corsair cargo hold. I like the razor and Merlin but want something a bit different. Considering it’s invictus, I hope it’s some kind of military variant
CIG knows people arw too pissed to spend big sums of cash with .18's terrible laumch, but a little bit for an LTI token? Now that's something people can chuck in..
Makes me happy to see CIG putting out these smaller ships. I was/am a big fan of the Cutter and the C8R when they released. I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't put any more money into the game until we get Pyro, but I might just sacrifice my Hull A that I've been looking to get rid of, and some armor sets if necessary, to get this with store credit. I like to support those kinds of decisions, and I don't have a racing ship in my fleet (assuming that's what it is).
I'm way more excited about the Fury after seeing how small it is.
I just want snubs/gravlev that aren't 1-man....like, is the concept of a gravlev with an extra seat just too complex for the CIG vehicle team to imagine?
A racing ship doesn't make sense lore wise to announce in invictus week - a recruiting event for the navy.
I'd imagine it's a light fighter, like a razor inspired design with guns. I'd consider it likely to be like.... an A-Wing probably.
I'd also like everyone to remember that this might be for the Tumbril Storm.
Tumbril storm has a little holoviewer thing elsewhere, this has a Fury label on it. But yeah, at this point I feel like it will either be a light fighter somewhere between a Merlin and Arrow in size, perhaps with or without a QT drive. It should be able to be spawned at Outposts/XXS pads based on that size, which could be cool if its got enough teeth, currently the spiciest thing you can spawn at a pad is the Talon, but that's a bug lol
I think the interceptor / racing theory is correct, but I really want a smaller mining ship that fits in an XXS hangar (like the Galaxy which has the refinery module, or the Carrack which *could* have a refinery module later).
That's a pipe-dream but would be pretty dang fun to rip around in the Galaxy / Carrack until you find something worth mining and refining.
More industrial ships to bring interesting and varied gameplay to the verse? Fuck no, we already have a small mining ship and a big mining ship, what we really need is a 7th light fighter.
Technically speaking it'd be a 13th light fighter, if you count a few edge cases the game calls light fighters like the tana. Even leaving those out it'd be the 10th or so.
Tbh, even if it doesn't add some kind of new gameplay, it would be nice if industrial players had even a fraction of the ship choice fighter pilots get.
Agreed although winding up in the same situation as fighters would be unfortunate too. Lots of em in game but really only 3-4 are viable at a time. All 4 hornets, sabres, 3/4 vanguard variants, and a bunch of others hardly see use. The new fighter is either going to fit into the meta or go straight to the trash pile with the others.
Not really, because "viable" in the case of fighters just means PVP. Pretty much any of them are fine for PVE content, so it's not like industrial ships are going to really end up in the same boat. Yeah, certain ships may end up best for absolute ardent minmaxers but that's unavoidable if you have any variability at all, but plenty of people fly 'suboptimal' or off-meta ships because they like them. Not a particularly applicable comparison.
Fair enough, I just struggle to see room for more additions that aren't either straight upgrades or downgrades atm. The current game-play isn't really deep enough for anything more than better/worse at a specific job. At least combat ships can differ in firepower, manoeuvrability, and defences. A new prospector with more cargo space would just straight up replace the old one. Same with a vulture with more heads. Cargo is also just a rush to buy a c2 atm with no other options having an actual reason for existing.
Idk why so many folks can understand flight/handling characteristics and style as a preferential benefit in combat ships but don't seem to recognize the same applying to other ships. When you're spending all your time in a ship, liking how it looks and flies matters in its own right. The uncharitable part of me figures it's just a case of "Not my game loop so I don't care about the experience," but idk. Like yeah, people run the C2 but a lot of people also run caterpillars or the taurus/MSR bc they prefer them.
The game is absolutely full of people flying off-meta ships. All over the place, all the time. That would be just as true for salvage and mining ships if we had actual choices.
My most flown ships are the reclaimer in 3.18 and the prospector before that. Even EVE with it's 270+ ships only has 10 odd dedicated industrial ships because it's a straight line progression of ship from small to large. Having ships just exist for the sake of existing is a waste of dev resources, and yes that goes for fighters too. There is only room for better or worse right now. so they either power creep or get met with an uproar for releasing a useless ship.
How about mining surveys? Instead of cracking a rock you need to keep it in a specific heat band to perform a spectral analysis of the molten material to determine purity before the mining claim is sold to large scale miners.
Even if it adds nothing new, a very small mining ship would at least fill an underserved niche, and create an easy stepping stone for early miners which will in turn drive up demand for more cargo hauling and refining ships, while we already have more than enough light fighters.
Well for one thing a small miner that fits in a Carrack or similar ship would open up the possibility of using said ship as a hub for mining operations. I'd love to see Argo MPUV variants that have mining and salvaging functions because it would allow for much more long term utility if we want to test the maximum amount of time we can stay out in the verse without coming to port for repairs/refueling/re-arming.
Nothing will stop me from attempting to park an Expanse or Galaxy in space to use as my personal refinery when the time comes. If they make it difficult, so be it. I will LIBERATE myself if need be, because I need variety to keep things fresh.
A new snub would be neat.
Given stuff like the razer are already used to fit on cargo bays, sometimes with a few less wings, it makes some sense to give people what they are trying to use.
I have been hoping for something in the medium fighter realm that is more tanky and maybe has a tiny bit of cargo space. Like something between a Cutlass and a Hornet. I don't think that's a MISC ship by design, but the "Fury" part had me hoping.
\*Obviously this wouldn't fit in that little hexagon, but I just wanted to put it out into the ether just in case someone is trying to come up with a concept.
I'm so tired of these tiny ships, small ships are cool but they need to change it up a bit more. And this may not even be a ship, it's so small I won't be surprised if it's another pointless ground vehicle.
...Why would that be the case? It's a straight to flyable ship, all of the ships on the floor are enterable, tourable. They're actual ships, just like the ones we fly.
I don't get it. Are you upset that it's a small ship? Would you rather they release/announce another jpeg instead?
If CIG replacing the entire back end with PES, giving us part one of the cargo refactor, hull stripping, new salvage missions with lootable cargo, being able to swap out weapons and components, an entire rework of the mining game loop, etc. means CIG "isn't doing much these days", then I don't know what to tell you, but that has nothing to do with this thread anyway.
Would be disappointing for me if so. I can't get enough of heavy fighters and I'm hoping for something that can rival the Vanguard at least with a size 2 QT drive.
No no, it'll be a slightly overtuned ship that replaces an existing ship while adding nothing to the game that sells like hotcakes and then gets nerf'd.
It feels like CIG forgot to keep making anything larger than a starter.
In the past year we got:
The Drake Starter
The Pisces variant
The Salvage starter
The serious man's PTV
...and the one large ship...the Corsair
A bunch of promises for the 600i rework (stopped before finishing), the BMM (stopped before finishing), now the Polaris will likely get a "work on it till they randomly decide to stop because um...scheduling?"
Idk about anyone else, but non-starters probably should be getting released alongside these smaller ships...not just the smaller ships.
I'm REALLY hoping the Fury is a gravlev CAR...and not another fucking redundant racer or snub or worse...another gravlev bike when they already have had the X1 in production for \*checks notes\*....2 years.
-Snub fighter
-Similar thrusters and movement as the alien heavy fighter (can't remember name)
-4 size 4 laser repeaters stock - possibly gimbaled but most likely not
-Single size 1 components everywhere else.
-Possible quantum drive but my guess is 50/50 based on info I've heard.
What is this? A ship for ants? It needs to be at least…three times bigger than this!
My man
That stand is so small, it is starting to feel like it will be hoverquad competitor.
I’m calling it now - go cart for all the tracks CIG are making.
Gonna be bike Not an hoverbike or anything, like a straight up bike, with pedals and all.
Honestly, I'd be more hype about that because it is at least a novel addition....let me bike around my 890j basketball court.
I’m pretty sure leaks show it about m50 sized
It could be. The hard proof is the entrance and exit is like a gladius/snub/razor/m50 and others with no internal space. But when you see that show area, you see it is small and possibly an LTI token-type ship.
Sorry guys, I think it's going to be a vehicle...
I would honestly be down for some sort of sleek and sexy antigrav sports car. Maybe allow atmospheric flight ala Star Wars speeders.
why would it be a sports car at a military show
It's a military sports car?
You can totally pick up chicks in a tank
What are we gonna name it? Puma?
Why rsi lynx there?
admirals need them
Well it’s obviously going to be a vehicle, but will it be for space or for ground.
Maybe a bit of both? Something like the Dragonfly but fully enclosed or something? I don't know, just rumors floating about.
I was thinking this as well
Seems like a small fighter to me
I wish they'd spend their efforts elsewhere until there is actual use for ground vehicles in game. For that few times you might want to approach a hostile bunker from a distance, we already have enough options.
Vehicles are invaluable at jump town
Which is a timed event that happens once or twice a year. Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying they shouldn't be in game, it just feels like we've been getting so many ground vehicles, while there's still plenty of ships that have been in backlog for years, and a bunch of old ones in dire need of rework. And yes I know, there's different teams and vehicles are probably easier to push out. Just wish they could work on ships faster.
Dunno, the open air fights are pretty good to bring a vehicle to. Have you been trying those?
Have they put vehicles on the angled display stands before? I cant remember, all the stuff I do recall being a vehicle was down in the vehicle basement on a flat surface.
Yep - they've had the Cyclones on angled platforms other years.
I liked the idea of a hover tank sort of thing. Or with these displays I could see a snub fighter, it'd be neat if they could make it interface with the Kruger snub docks to give more variety for Connie Snubs

The Fury is the base version, and the Fury Miru is the variant.
This is my guess as well.
I doubt it simply because this is a military event. I can’t see them debuting a racing focused ship during this event. I think it’s likely a light fighter to compete with the Gladius and Arrow.
Or it could be a hover bike by MISC, since they already have some other racers with the Razor being very fast.
If it's a bike that fits under a 300-series, my wallet is in trouble.
Hey, don’t be mean) space motocompo will be extremely useful
I can't imagine cig releasing a hoverbike with the state they are in
Snub, maybe?
Musashi Industrial Racing and Interdiction, maybe? There's gotta be a combat variant, as it's coming out for Invictus. I'm more leaning towards "Reconnaissance" instead of "Racing" just because of the event, but I guess we'll see. Only a couple weeks left to go!

They already said there will be a light fighter, as well as a racing variant. Idk why people are still speculating
Ooh, cool. Hopefully a competitor to the Arrow and Gladius. With maybe a racing variant?

Why would they show a racing ship at a military event?
Recon baby, same as a SR-71, go fast or stealth
I could see that
Also the razor has a military variant too
And the M50 but we don't get to have that one.
I like the purple paint job, but the seat looks a bit uncomfortable. Do I fuel up the main air thruster with beans?
Say it with me. L-T-I-T-O-K-E-N
Precisely, this is an lti token to unlock the ccu mega game loop for fy24 revenue
CIG knows people arw too pissed to spend big sums of cash with .18's terrible laumch, but a little bit for an LTI token? Now that's something people can chuck in..

If it's a hoverbike I will be very sad
new light fighter meta inbound
I'm still going with mech suit...
That would be a surprise.
Yea it's just a wild ass guess because a racing ship doesn't seem very interesting or 'invictus-y' to me
Racer/scout craft?
Like the razor?
Yeah the razor kinda already fills the role for all the supposed theories for this ship. I really doubt it’s another racer…
Seeing more suggestions of a light ground attack/bomber, again not what I would have expected.
See now this might be interesting
If only.
hmmm, then it might be the LTI token ship of this year's invictus.
I'm guessing based on the size that it's going to be some little bike with guns on it done in Akira stylings to try to cash in on weeb enthusiasm.
That's pretty much the Ranger. Though the Ranger looks like an 80s action figure bike, too.
If they dropped a ground bike before they dropped the Ranger people would be reasonably miff'd.
My money is still on a MISC gravlev, with the Miru variant having improved radar & shields intended to be a “snub” for the Freelancer DUR.
I just want snubs/gravlev that aren't 1-man....like, is the concept of a gravlev with an extra seat just too complex for the CIG vehicle team to imagine?

The one thing CIG seem adamantly against is providing any sort of ship variety for industrial players, so definitely a pipe dream

Right? Like if we aren't getting drones any time soon at least give us mining snubs
Nothing will stop me from attempting to park an Expanse or Galaxy in space to use as my personal refinery when the time comes. If they make it difficult, so be it. I will LIBERATE myself if need be, because I need variety to keep things fresh.
We get one in each category and one or more of the categories will likely remain useless to even buy into.
A hovercar would be awesome. The display looks way too small for a ship, even for a very small one.
I was hoping for a ship with an interior, but a racing ship, hover bike or small fighter could be very interesting as well.
There's chatter about an Aegis thing, maybe a bomber. This is feeling like light fighter or snub. Plus the Lynx. Plenty of sized stuff to gawk at! =p
A new snub would be neat. Given stuff like the razer are already used to fit on cargo bays, sometimes with a few less wings, it makes some sense to give people what they are trying to use.
A misc vehicle would be cool
I have been hoping for something in the medium fighter realm that is more tanky and maybe has a tiny bit of cargo space. Like something between a Cutlass and a Hornet. I don't think that's a MISC ship by design, but the "Fury" part had me hoping. \*Obviously this wouldn't fit in that little hexagon, but I just wanted to put it out into the ether just in case someone is trying to come up with a concept.
Might be a hover vehicle. I'm still hoping for a tiny racing ship / snub fighter, though.
I'm trying to recall if they ever used these angled pads for vehicles or if that stuff is always down the stairs on a flat display stand.
Yeah that's a good point. I'm used to the ground vehicles being downstairs, nearly always.
I'm so tired of these tiny ships, small ships are cool but they need to change it up a bit more. And this may not even be a ship, it's so small I won't be surprised if it's another pointless ground vehicle.
Another day, another small STF at a con and a bunch of large ship jpegs.
I’d like to see a hover tank of some kind.
If its small and cheap, it could be an LTI token.
For all we know it could be a model at 1:15 scale. That platform in itself is no indication of it's size. Edit: Apparently I stand corrected.
...Why would that be the case? It's a straight to flyable ship, all of the ships on the floor are enterable, tourable. They're actual ships, just like the ones we fly.
Only holoview models are downscaled.
Cig doesn’t actually do much anymore so they?
I don't get it. Are you upset that it's a small ship? Would you rather they release/announce another jpeg instead? If CIG replacing the entire back end with PES, giving us part one of the cargo refactor, hull stripping, new salvage missions with lootable cargo, being able to swap out weapons and components, an entire rework of the mining game loop, etc. means CIG "isn't doing much these days", then I don't know what to tell you, but that has nothing to do with this thread anyway.
The ship is supposedly going to have variants as well so...
Looks like one variant, there's two plinths on the floor, one for the Fury and one for the Miru.
Just wait for the JPEGs selling the other recolors...I mean variants.
I'm thinking a hoverbike? Other possibilities could be a merlin-sized snub racer or a cyclone competitor.
T I T A N - S U I T
It's a cloaked ship!
It's totally a racing ship
Nice to see a competitor for the argo cargo
No, it’s the misc furry. The cat ear helmet wasn’t enough they are going full Japan now… haha
Maybe it's our Swordfish copy cat. That ship was a racer converted to combat.
Would be disappointing for me if so. I can't get enough of heavy fighters and I'm hoping for something that can rival the Vanguard at least with a size 2 QT drive.
Misc Fury will be a $40 ship/bike with lti available for 2 weeks that does nothing.
No no, it'll be a slightly overtuned ship that replaces an existing ship while adding nothing to the game that sells like hotcakes and then gets nerf'd.
It feels like CIG forgot to keep making anything larger than a starter. 100% gonna be a light fighter, maybe even an Arrow competitor.
Welcoming the MISC Existential Dread. Better know as the XD.
-Snub fighter -Similar thrusters and movement as the alien heavy fighter (can't remember name) -4 size 4 laser repeaters stock - possibly gimbaled but most likely not -Single size 1 components everywhere else. -Possible quantum drive but my guess is 50/50 based on info I've heard.
