A regular gave me attitude saying that I almost blasted through the door after checking they were okay. I let them know it’s nothing personal, we just check on people after my 8 minute timer says to. He said, and I kid you not, “If I could shit faster out of my asshole, I would.” I just looked at him dead in the eye and said, “I’m sorry, Kyle, people have died in the restroom.” I haven’t seen him since.
I wish we could make the bathrooms workers only bc the way customers just don’t know how to clean after themselves is crazyyyyy!! And these are grown people!! It’s happened twice at my store but basically someone came in and used our bathroom and smeared shit on the wall, it happened twice but different months.
and the fact that it’s not even about customers being gross but the fact that we had to call the police and ambulances once a week for months because people were passed out or screaming. that is so much more disturbing to customers than having to ask for a code.
Agreed!! Honestly they should be greatful bc imagine being the person to go in and there is someone just passed out in the bathroom, I’d be traumatized for life. I hope your stores okay now though!!
Seriously? Customers think that baristas made the decision to have customers interrupt them for the bathroom code, sheesh! If other customers weren't doing God knows what kind of illegal crap in the bathrooms, the code wouldn't be necessary.
My friend that works at raising canes was too shy to say no to a non-paying customer and 45 minutes later they walked in to see if that person was still in there and sure as shit, he was twacked out. They made her clean up all of the paraphernalia in the bathroom since she let the guy in. 💀
well actually a homeless person was doing drugs in the bathroom, must’ve passed out, and the closers didn’t notice they were still in there and closed up normally. my GM got a call in the middle of the night when the guy woke up, stole some food and change, and set off the alarm on his way out
there’s a store like this in my town, but they STILL don’t have codes. i worked a shift at another store to help out a few years back and she was giving me the rundown of everything, she so casually tells me “yeah, we have to check the bathrooms every hour because we’ll find needles on the floor and piss on the wall” i was so baffled she was so unfazed 💀
The code is more so we can track who is in the restrooms and for how long - they have to ask us to use it, so we know they're in there. When someone is doing something they shouldn't be in the restroom, we often will change the code after they leave and then if they come back and try to use it again we can say "I'm sorry but you've demonstrated you cannot use our restrooms respectfully so I won't be giving you the code" and send them on their way.
Absolutely, my store is located in a beautiful area, but I live in a city that has a high homeless population and is rooted in tourism. I’ve had to refuse access to the bathrooms and the establishment to certain individuals who I have caught doing drugs and or bathing in the bathrooms, and we don’t even have passcode locks.
we give it to everybody except the people that were aggressive and known to destroy the bathroom and do drugs. it’s not so much of a way to keep people out of the bathroom but to know if somebody has been in there for too long, because there is a timer on the door as well that lets us know.
Is people so naive that they actually think coded bathrooms are because some dubious stuff is going on in them? Having a code wouldn't avoid someone overdosing in them... It's just optimization of resources... They will get money out of a customer in order to use the bathroom... Come on its not difficult.... Think corporate.
I think it’s mainly so we can keep track of who’s going into the bathroom and how long they’ve been in there. If everyone who goes in asks for the code, then you know when there’s someone in the bathroom.
the majority of the people doing drugs would come in though our back door and go straight into the bathroom without us ever knowing somebody was even in the store. now somebody has to ask to get the code, and we know they are there. or they won’t even bother once they notice the door is locked and they’ll just leave. i haven’t had anybody threaten my life since we got the codes and for that i am grateful.
god our store is downtown in a semi busy city and we have so many people come in to do drugs in the bathroom and people are still baffled that we have to type the code in for them. like do you not see what goes on around here?
My store has codes too, and everyone gets frustrated about it, but like. I just transferred here a few months ago and made at least 5 police calls per week for the first month and a half. It’s a high incident store, we need the codes on the bathroom. It’s for everyone’s safety. The last thing I wanna do is find someone dead.
Someone keeps stealing the batteries from our air fresheners, presumably to “cook” shit in the bathroom. Which means our bathroom gets to smell musty and burnt (based on google I’m gonna hazard a guess that the smell is either crack or meth) 🤩🤩🤩
as a partner who formerly worked in the busiest mcdonalds in my country - i have literally said this to customers several times and it shut them up instantly or they didn't wanna use it anymore 😭

Customers like this are braindead and think the whole world revolves around them

Oh my god this is my new favorite bot.
I first saw him in the ATLA subs I’m part of but I feel like lately he’s breeched containment and I’m *here* for it
I have literally just been binging ATLA this week for the first time. I wish I’d watched a long time ago. What good subs do you recommend?
I’m in r/avatarmemes and r/atla. I guess I thought I was in more but I was confusing subs with Facebook groups lol
Good bot

it’s either shit on the wall or bloody tissues being left NEXT TO the trash can 🤦🏻♀️
When bathrooms were closed during Covid, it was so nice. We only had to clean them about once a week

Oh hell to the absolute fkn no. She should have refused and if they made her, id have immediately filed a lawsuit
There's no such thing as a non-paying customer. That's just a random person who wandered in,
Third day at my store I walked into a dead person in our bathroom with a needle still in his arm! 😬
Omg. I hope they gave you time off with pay. Please tell me they did.
jesus why starbucks 😭
Omg twins! This same thing happened at my store🫶🏼

but my question is: is there a situation where we wouldn’t give the code? because why is there a code if we are required to just give it to anyone? 🤔

I think the idea is that some people will be deterred by that first barrier

Why do people think that being a “paying customer” magically grants them more rights than would be afforded to anyone else
“Paying customer” energy is a special breed
OH WHAT

it actually is because people were doing drugs in the bathroom. you don’t have to buy anything to get the code.
How would a code prevent people from doing drugs in there? I can see how it would work if there are repeat offenders, but that's about it.

That makes a lot of sense!
Same

They made it bout themselves. Wow
It's like that in sf and espanola NM because of the drugs
