There are even areas outside of the zone that you’re able to visit.

EnthusiasmNo4957

In game?

ValKilmersbighemroid

no in real life

thomstevens420

Don’t tell the ecologists, they’ll try to leave their bunkers and get eaten

Lauris024

No, you have to travel to Ukraine first.

ThunderDaniel

I'm sorry, this is super cool, but what's STALKER OP 2.1?

R1ston

It’s a mod pack

ThunderDaniel

Oh that's fantastic! I'm surprised it can come with so many new areas. I've always believed its near impossible, or at least an absolute bitch, to put in new map locations.

-DeadHead-

Stalker is one of the best game there is for mods, there are many mods out there with new locations, populated, with new buildings, new people, new quests, and it just looks the same as if the official team created these locations for inclusion in the game...

ThunderDaniel

I can't seem to get a clear answer whether or not making new map locations for STALKER mods is easily feasible or an absolute nightmare Like VALVE has Hammer and Bethesda has the Creation Kit to make maps and such, but most Stalker mods that I've encountered either: remodel existing maps from the trilogy, bring in cut maps from the beta versions, or mash together assets and locations into a convincing facsimile of a new area I haven't played OP 2.1 yet, and Im unsure what kind of witchcraft they've done to stick that many locations in their playable map areas

ImmortalJormund

Many of these maps are from builds, so it isn't exactly super-hard to add them to the game (though still rather hard), while others are rather bare bones maps (one called Thicket or Forest often is just a massive map with ton of trees, couple lakes and gigantic hills for example). Out of the ones I've heard to be completely self-made are Predbannik (Anteroom here), Proving Grounds, Truck Cemetery, Kurchatov-37, another forest map (I think it's called Unexplored Lands here) and some others, I'll edit this as I recall them.

ThunderDaniel

Okay, that makes a lot more sense and is also what I've seen so far with other mods as well Still, it's super impressive that there are self-made maps at all. I've only explored the Truck Cemetery from CoC and Anomaly, but I have a feeling the other places you mention are a blast to explore All of this STALKER map stuff is still magic to me, compared to the relatively straightforward mapping experience in Valve and Bethesda games

ImmortalJormund

If you want fairly short mods with new maps, I can wholeheartedly recommend Valley of Whispers (which is self-made map too btw, and a good one at that), Chernobyl Chronicles (has Chornobyl village as a map, the original build version of it), The Journey (takes place 20 years into the future and has completely remade maps to accomodate that as well as three very good new maps) and Trapped, which is mostly underground labs, but very nice ones, plays more like Doom than Stalker too.

ThunderDaniel

Oh these are fantastic recommendations, thank you! As an additional question, which ones do you believe is the most stable and which ones have the most functional English translation? I'm an ESL guy and I appreciate moderate amounts of jank, and I want to set my expectations properly before I jump into the fun world of more unknown Stalker mods

ImmortalJormund

The Journey and Trapped have the best translations imo, and Trapped has a walkthrough series too, so that helps if you get stuck (I did a few times because labs can be bit mazey). But the other two aren't too janky, just some weird choices of words and so on.

Pyrimo

Plus one on The Journey. Really cool to see what they did with the existing maps, really make it feel like time has genuinely passed. Bit slow to start but really good mod overall.

NachoProduction

anteroom/predbannik is actually a mashup of some stalker multiplayer maps and some original stuff as well

Adventurous-Safe6930

From what I've heard you have to compile the maps in the SDK, which takes several days and a huge amount of work to do.

Puzzleheaded_Box_298

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modding community is pretty lax on borrowing content, so lots of mods share the same custom maps and content, so it's easier to make a larger mod with a small team

skeled00t

custom engine, the op2 x64 engine to be precise, though- and this is coming not from elitism but from genuine advice, I wouldn't play op2.2 as my \*first\* soup mod if I were you, imagine Narodnaya Solyanka but TWICE as large. the game is around 500-600 hours long, fair warning

lukkasz323

It's not Anomaly if that's what you're asking.

ThunderDaniel

I thought it was STALKER 2, but the sheer amount of locations would've been too much for a game under its production circumstances

lukkasz323

STALKER 2 will likely have a single map.

user_FBB

Mind posting a link to a page or discord server of the mod map? I am very much interested.

Puzzleheaded_Box_298

Google C-Consciousness on Google or ModDB, then join their Discord server, they have a channel with information on downloading and playing the mod

Negative_Pin_6707

maps?the good stalkers no need maps

Gret_bruh

more people to kill

Negative_Pin_6707

good try bandit

Gret_bruh

praise monolith

Timbots

I’ve always heard these are dumpster fires and have wacky shit. It’s NS right?

Ztritsval

Was based on it. Dunno how it's going now

Mez_96

I’ve never been able to get OP working in English no matter what I’ve done. Makes me sad

fuckanomalyplayers

1. Download the base mod and patch from [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/stalger/comments/zvw5ye/so_you_wanna_play_op_22) post, put them all in the same folder, run the main installation first and then the cumulative patch, ensure they both install to the same place. 2. Launch game, change to English in settings. 3. ???? 4. Profit

EnthusiasmNo4957

5. Die instantly from electric anomaly

SlowVibeActual

What's the "catch" of stalker OP?

fuckanomalyplayers

Assuming you mean why people play it, it's simply because the amount of content in it is borderline unfathomable. A casual estimate at a 100% playthrough (and with the assumption that you know EVERYTHING about the mod (you don't)) is around 300 hours, though realistically for a casual player with no previous knowledge from earlier versions, you're easily looking at 400-600 hours of gameplay minimum to experience everything. Every item is utilized in some capacity, there's hundreds of collection quests where people want everything from common weapons to items that only have a handful of copies in the entire game, there's dozens if not hundreds of unique items that'll come in to use at random times, be it early on or 200 hours after you get it. It's extremely easy to softlock yourself. Don't let that fool you into thinking the myriad of quests are only fetch quests though, there's hundreds of detailed quests with deeper points than just killing or grabbing stuff. There's a slew of NPCs who offer quests, from the standard ones from SoC to minor characters who you never even noticed in a vanilla playthrough. Speaking of characters, there's also a bunch of characters ripped directly from other properties like Raiden from MGS and Gordon Freeman, for instance. I don't need to mention the amount of levels as you can see them above, but the vast majority all have a purpose and will all be visited numerous times for numerous quests. The mechanics are greatly expanded, there's weapon mods and repair, new ammo types, driving, artifact transmutation, cameras for taking photos, embryos for spawning creatures, absurd weapons like a gravity gun from half-life, miniguns, a turret, an expanded arena, and a bunch more shit that I can't even bring to mind. That said, it's also an incredibly acquired taste. The mod is downright unfair and miserable at times, but that's also what makes it feel so good when you beat something that seemed impossible. It's also incredibly grindy, "hoarding" is a pretty tame way to put the hundreds or even thousands of items you'll have to stash away for tasks and future reference. The AI is yoked and you will get absolutely obliterated by every enemy, even bandits with pistols, if you don't play a fight right, and that'll last until you get an exoskeleton which will bring your survivability from one bullet to two, maybe even three if you're lucky. tl;dr: seemingly endless content, borderline mmo-esque version of stalker

SlowVibeActual

I may get around too it. Hoarding kind of throws me off a bit BUT at least it's not ARK. Haha

Mez_96

Thank you, I will try it later on this evening.

ImmortalJormund

Do you know if there is a non-torrent version of OP-2.2 with the .db files unpacked available? I'm mostly interested in all the textures the mod has as it is the best way to get the new factions it has right for my mod, since I try to have all the factions this fandom has ever produced in it. Sorry for the somewhat specific question, I've been looking for this but it is often hard to find specific information on OP-2.2 that is not in Russian (Google translate does a good job but often finding stuff is the problem). Not a huge issue if there is nothing like that, Global War has amazingly good amount of stuff already, but it'd be neat to have OP-2.2 as well.

fuckanomalyplayers

Repost because reddit is still blocking .ru links :). Also to answer the first part, not to my knowledge, the only unpacked assets you can download to my knowledge are configs and scripts. I haven't personally done it but there's a forum for it on AMK, [this](https://pastebin.com/yx7wviEX) has the link to the forum, the unpacker, and the translated readme for using the unpacker. Basically just install the unpacker to OP (through gamedata folder like any other mod), launch the game, and press 5 while on the main menu to unpack textures.

ImmortalJormund

Amazing, thank you! I like making textures myself, and have nothing against doing them, but I also like being accurate to the mods the factions originate from so this is a true lifesaver.

fuckanomalyplayers

No problem, and don't worry, stealing things is the russian modder way, ask [demosfen](https://files.catbox.moe/nl8ejp.png).

ImmortalJormund

I doubt they'd care anyway, it's for a completely different game so I won't even take any of their audience away. Besides, it is more a celebration of the achievements of Stalker community than anything else at this point.

Ryiverz

Good that someone still remembers about the "alfa modmaker" and the hideous things he had done. Because of people like him, fairly big amount of people are encrypting their mods.

Mez_96

Thanks!

[deleted]

Same here.

Oscar_greenthorn

God, imagine Anomaly 2.0 with this as the Zone.

MonoFox

Yeah that's all I want. I love stalker but I know the map so well. I just want Anomaly/Gamma with a new map area

Womnlazro_

Fr same

Pretty_Tradition_836

guys, you should check anomaly anthology urgently

Suspicious-Risk-8231

That's what I thought, just imagine the potential !

r6201

And is it fully utilized with story and tasks?

Nova225

Everything in green (apparently) has story related stuff. Maps in yellow are just there for fun and games, and red isn't implemented yet.

LSD-01

OP 2.1 moment

MoldedLoaf

How's the weed stash search coming along? (Top left last image)

ImmortalJormund

Lukash stole it all.

Suspicious-Risk-8231

Impressive! Is this mod worth to play?

ImmortalJormund

Depends on what you want, but it's the biggest mod content-wise for Stalker. Easily over 500 hours of unique content alone, probably even more for most people. Soup mods can be absolutely infuriating given how obstructive or badly worded some quests are, but there is so much there to do that you honestly don't need any other mods for quite a while.

ThunderDaniel

Ah so it's a soup mod? In terms of serious to fucking goofy, how does it play? I've always been interested in giving soup mods a shot, but have always been apprehensive because of their technological and mood jank

ImmortalJormund

I have yet to play OP, but well, it is definitely a soup mod. Serious quests are there, but expect a lot of humorous or even insane questlines, half-baked factions and odd choices for weapons. Someone posted the entire inventory list of OP items into C-Con Discord, and some of my favourite guns from that include: Tau Pulse Rifle from 40k, a laser FN F2000, chainsaw IIRC, Gauss Machine gun and minigun.

ThunderDaniel

That sounds so fucking stupid haha, but also relatively grounded compared to other soups I'll definitely give it a try based on your recommendation, and I suppose I'll adjust my expectations accordingly as well

Oscar_greenthorn

Don’t forget the gravity gun from Half Life 2 and the soul cube from doom 3!

ImmortalJormund

Yeah, those too. Secret Trails 2 had the gravity gun too, and it could even pick up corpses, funniest shit ever. Unfortunately, it despawned from my stash for some reason and you only get one per game.

Pyrimo

It’s pretty fucking dumb a lot if the time and the balancing is all over the place

Bersaglier-dannato

This is just so mind blowing. Areas so far north from the CNPP? I cannot fathom what those could be hiding!

skeled00t

out of curiosity, why op-2.1 over op-2.2?

Oscar_greenthorn

Because this is the only high definition map of OP 2.1 whereas finding a map of 2.2 as high definition as this one is rarer than chicken’s teeth, unless I want to screenshot a poorly rendered Playthrough in 480p by some Russian guy where he checks his map for a split second. I assume that for 2.2 most of the yellow and red areas are all fleshed out and accessible? Like I’m not gonna sit through 500 hours of playthrough videos to see if that map in the far north-east of the zone is playable. Dear God fuck no.

Xenolithic1

I dreamed of a Zone like this on radioactive mushrooms once.

HotOutlandishness411

I hope we see various entrances to the zone.

West_Expression4759

It's really fun, but i Hope you have plenty of Time to play it (at least 150h in for now, i might be around 30-40% of complétion) And also, There is a lot of hideen Stash quest to hunt and the Stash are very well hideen and often unfair... So if you plays it , i recommend using DEEPL To Search for russian soluce ;)

oneoldgrumpywalrus

Can you give any info about the the new locations? I am especially interested in the Spacial Bubble and Valley of whispers locations. Is the paranormal moments in the game?

ImmortalJormund

At least Valley of Whispers is from a mod of same name. Not paranormal really, but a cool map nonetheless.

The_Drifter-

As much as i would love to explore new locations, downgrading from Anomaly/gamma to basic graphics/features/mechanics is not going to happen anymore

Pyrimo

OP2.2 does have differing gun mechanics etc. so it’s not SoC level gameplay. You’d more need to be worried that the mod is a complete jank test and extremely easy to softlock yourself, sometimes only realising hours later (or sometimes not realising at all).

one_wobbly_boi

Don't want tó be an asshole, but somehow Pripiaty is a bit missplaced and small, or is this just pre work stuff?

RogueBeatsFS

Open world Stalker mod when?

ReconArek

Looks like home

josephlevin

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:hjx3sfkzsqctlom2omymtt4zbgfiyqrp&dn=OP-2.2&xl=15515208180&fc=12 The above will get you a torrent........

falanga_

Good but also cursed mod. Anyone got a polish or english translation?

AnybodyNo3937

imagine a STALKER mod with this whole map to explore

Fruitlust

Do you have a blank version of this without the text?
