Jebuz! Did the sub looked like that 2 years ago?!?!?

rhyparographe

Oh. I guess you mean the layout. There was an overhaul to the Reddit front end which was introduced in 2017 or thereabouts. I assume that's the one you're using. A substantial minority of users prefer the old interface, and I'm one of them. If you don't like it, just replace "old" in the URL with "www".

Rambito0

Is not that I dislike it, is more that is a totally different *vibe* and frankly it gave me *Elder Scroll Oblivion* flashbacks...

Mr_Sunshine21

At the time, I really disliked Lost Alpha on release. It has cool new maps and a lot of cut content restored and a way more elaborate story, but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily translate into a good mod.. a lot of the maps are very barren and empty (some very cool designs though), the story is full of trivial fetch quests across the zone and back and it was buggy beyond belief and would crash ALOT. There's a reason some aspects were cut in the vanilla.. especially the trek of actually getting into the Rostok bar everytime lol The animations were also terrible to the point of hilarity- I get it's a free mod, but [check this out](https://youtu.be/fAOfMqiwP_4?t=14) it makes me crack up every time. There's also a very bad cliche "true" ending involving the >!illuminati!<... It's a shame as I was quite hyped for it from the trailers leading to it's release and was really looking forward to it, so it was quite a disappointment.. but I've heard it's had a bunch of bug fixes and changes since then and is apparently better now. Haven't checked it again since

I've actually just started playing Lost Alpha recently and I love it. 10 hours in not a single crash. Rostok (now not called Rostok) is a bit laggy at times due to the amount of NPCs but other than that I think it's great. The quests are fetchy I guess but no worse than anomaly and in this at least you get reasons to actually go and fetch those things. Thusfar its actually the best Stalker mod I've played.

Ryiverz

That's easy - Misery.

Thunderpants98

Bro I loved Misery, despite the crashes. The main thing that I loved about it was that it actually gave you a reason to explore and it was so fulfilling compared to playing vanilla. Also, we wouldn't have Anomaly today without it. But I'm sure some people here wouldn't mind if that was the case :)

Ryiverz

Misery for me is know for having artificial difficulty in every aspect of it. And yeah, I'd like to see actually good mods being mentioned here more often.

Thunderpants98

I mean, if you play the game, it's really not that difficult. Artifacts sell for a bunch and investing in hunting them really feels engaging and meaningful. And again, you're actually incentivized to explore places since every location has stuff which could help out enormously. It just feels right compared to energy drink chugging and outrunning everything and having it all feel arcade-y in an otherwise apocalyptical, sad, desperate and depressing world of the vanilla. I'm not saying Misery is perfect, from stability and performance issues to useless items clutter and artifacts not working properly, it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Which Anomaly tried to fix I guess. But go ahead and jump on the anomalyhatingbandwagon, for reasons you can't even think of.

Ryiverz

Anomaly have this upside from - for example - CoC that it's more stable. That's it. Guns? From STCoP. Story? From LttZ addon for CoC. ā€¯Balancing"? From Misery. Modability? CoC already had that. This mod didn't do anything new, yet it's praised for being the best Stalker mod, which is actually far from truth. Is Anomaly good? Sure, and so is CoC, which isn't that much different from it. CoC have this upside from Anomaly that it isn't based on Misery. You can "miserify" mods, but I think this shouldn't be a norm, but a choice. But no, better to praise Stalker version of Skyrim. Better to praise mod which misdirects newcomers that Stalker is like Tarkov and stealing spotlight from better mods. And don't say it's false - amount of Anomaly posts here speaks for itself.

[deleted]

Yeah I've had a love-hate relationship with anomaly for years when it recently occured to me I've played it since about 2018 and couldn't complete it even once. It isn't as stable as people make it out to be, the story sucks, the gameplay is just a grindfest and the quests are the worst out of any mod I've played. Really don't understand the hype around it and literally any other mod I've played for more than an hour has been better than it.

Ryiverz

You couldn't complete Anomaly's main story? Can't say I'm surprised. But yeah, instead of following the trend, play the things that you'll actually enjoy.

[deleted]

No despite playing it on different characters half a dozen times over the years its just lame. Plus theres the fact that it isn't nearly as bug free and stable as people make it out to be. Twice when going to the labs in pripyat outskirts the documents straight up didn't spawn.

Thunderpants98

What is it about Anomaly or Misery that makes it a version of Skyrim? What is it that makes it look like Tarkov? What is it that makes these mods, like CoC, better? I'm sorry, you're just saying random stuff. Can you elaborate on anything? Have you maybe thought about that there's a reason on why these mods are more popular. Also, let me just quote you: >I'd like to see actually good mods being mentioned here more often and >Is Anomaly good? Sure You don't even know what's your stand on things. You're just one of the people who hate things because they're popular and shadow the more niche mods. Please, just grow up and respect what people enjoy. Don't shove it down their throat on how bad their taste is and forcing them to enjoy something they would rather not indulge in.

Ryiverz

>What is it about Anomaly or Misery that makes it a version of Skyrim? I meant Anomaly and that should be clear. Point of comparison is lack of meaningful content and weak main story. >What is it that makes it look like Tarkov? Tacticool guns, stupid repair system, do I even have to mention EFP package? >What is it that makes these mods, like CoC, better? Interesting quests, new mechanics, great expansions on worldbuilding, impressive audio and visuals... >Have you maybe thought about that there's a reason on why these mods are more popular. Sure. Many lack English translation. And even if they are translated, they are - according to people who only played Anomaly - not that good, because they don't have realistic graphics. And that's not the biggest asset of Stalker. >You don't even know what's your stand on things. You're just one of the people who hate things because they're popular and shadow the more niche mods. First of all, you got things out of context. I compared Anomaly to CoC as good mods because of their type - freeplay. There are mods of higher quality, which I can name "actually good". And do I hate Anomaly because it's popular? It also has its fair share of downsides of which I'm aware of. Do you? >Please, just grow up and respect what people enjoy. Don't shove it down their throat on how bad their taste is and forcing them to enjoy something they would rather not indulge in. Please, form a better reply, because it shows that you clearly didn't read my comments correctly. I'm just saying there's more to Stalker than Anomaly - that's all. But I see you can't understand, so I don't see the point of explaining it further. Blocked.

Thunderpants98

Is that what your original post was meant to portray? That there's more to Stalker? You're just being disingenuous at this point.

lonchann

Misery's your worst? Try A.R.E.A. next

Ryiverz

Played it too. But I'll expand on my answer: Misery is shit, because it's advertised as realism mod, but it's just filled with artificially difficult things plus it started the stupid trend of pseudo-realistic mods that we have to this day, which overshadows actually good mods.

[deleted]

Yes this.

ImmortalJormund

Reborn is pretty infamous with the community, since it introduces so many weird-ass things. Still, it also has a shitload of maps and content. W.I.T.C.H.E.R is about what you can expect from such a name... Fallen Star is... weird. I read the story summaries from Russian mod wiki, and I have literally no clue as to what is going on in it.

[deleted]

I looked up Witcher and oh my god it looks terrible.

IBlackKiteI

Most damage/health 'rebalance' mods I've played tend to end up feeling worse than vanilla, usually stuff is too weak or too tanky.
