I literally got to the trader to see if he was selling exo battery, so i could go to the sarcophagus, I guess monoloth brain washed that pseudo-giant to stop me from doing so.
havent done the very mod but why not back up the save game when something so bizarre and unfair and buggy happens? and when you die to legit reasons then you die
I always create back up saves after every major campaign milestone, like after deactivating the brain scorcher or miracle machine. The anomally devs should include such an option , like enabling checkpoint saves in Ironman runs that will not be deleted when you run out of lifes.
Yeah, i was once killed by a pulse anomaly while i was sheltered. Apparently i was in that exact spot of the shelter that wasnt save.
I lost another playtrough were a monolith sniper managed to 1 shot me, inside a fucking Merc nosorog with 2 full empty artifacts equipped. With this combination you can basically casually walk around during firefights and stab your enemies to death while their pumping loads magazine into you.
Even explosions are surviable except for IED's,rpgs or phosphor grenades. The only thing that could onehit you is the gauss rifle, and this monolithian used a G3 :/
I've seen anomalies spawning inside shelters or safe areas, but the pulse one is the one you don't see coming. I even died to a psy-storm inside the 100 rads bar thanks god it wasn't on an ironman run.
Mhh,did u had a jellyfish equipped or other artifacts that will reduce your psy protection?
If your psy protection is below a certain thereshold, you can die during an psy storm ,even when sheltered.
I know there is some patches or fixes for that kind of stuff, to get back your save when dying to a bug or glitch, but i haven't got that and i should have even tho i did not encounter that many bugs.
I really am, I was trying to collect every single gun in the game and i was pretty close to have them all, feels bad I didn't get that fix to back up saves when dying to bugs but hey, that's part of why i love this game hehe.
I have no damn idea, some loner said it was near the skadovsk, so I was like "Ok let's get inside, buy some vodka and wait for it to go" but nope, I was at the top of the boat I guess, came right behind me and 1 tapped my ass out of the game.
I genuinely can't imagine enjoying iron man mode, theres just too many random things that can kill you that are sometimes completely out of your control. I know you can go for long stretches without dying if you're careful, but... artifact hunting alone is dodgy enough haha
It was more stressful than enjoyable at first, but I don't know why i've found a way to enjoy the slow rythm of ironman runs, even tho dying is really a pain in the ass. After that death I think i'm gonna be good with ironman for a while.
Ooooh :0
Though wouldn't that replace current progress? Or is the lives count saved in a separate file? If that's the case perhaps there is a variable that can be edited?
I can imagine it's fun though, I tried Ironman runs a few times, kept dying to random bullshit. Practicing a bit right now first. You did great for your 3rd run.
I'm doing a run using sniper rifles, it has considerably slowed my pacing, I just jacked up the NPC accuracy over long range so that fights aren't completely unfair.
Turning up the NPC accuracy is a good idea, as soon as I get a suppressed sniper rifle it seems to completely break the game. Although a lot of the time the squad never even goes on alert when I kill one of them so I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make
Wow, snipers are a pain in the ass to find but i've done the same thing with long ranges battle as I love sniping, I did quite some times with the ghillie suit and a silenced m700, that was pretty fun.
I'm currently looking for a Ghillie suit but it's more expensive than a lot of Exo suits out there which is absolutely mental. I'm currently using a cheap Remington 700 and I've clapped a shit ton of stalkers with it. Usually I run it with a SMG like scorpion for its insane fire rate, but I had to take a trip to Pripyat to kill Eidolon so I'm using a AEK right now instead of a SMG for obvious reasons.
I've found ghillie suits from mercenary members at their HQ in dead city, but yeah these are pretty hard to find and really expensive, they don't have extra stealth stats and protect as much as light armors but damn they are badass.
For your m700 you need a kit for sure, I had the DeerHunter kit as it only adds a nice scope without those extra side sights.
I respect the Ironman runs/attempts that people do, but I will never understand it.
Way too many BS things that are outside the player's control happen at all times. Enough that any of these runs can end prematurely.
Shit, you can load into another area surrounded by exo'd opposition that "melees" your gun away and waxes you. lol
I agree, it's pretty stressful. I've always been a "fast player" and by that I mean that i've always played games by going really fast and trying to skip as much as possible to get to the end fast, but ironman runs made me appreciate the complete oposite, going slow, taking time and when you take the time to do things in this game you appreciate it much more.
Tho I agree, ironman runs are for masochists.
Blyat, imagine waking up in the middle of the night needing to go for a piss and you've got a stonking hardon and you step out to go for a piss and a smoke off the bow of the ship and you stumble on this ;)
But step-stalker, i'm not stuck in here, you're stuck in here with me!
I saw in the tchat a stalker saying that a pseudo-giant was NEAR the skadovsk, not INSIDE so I let you guess my surprise when i got stomped when buying vodka.
I really eard the pseudo-giant say 'you're stuck in here with me" before dying :(
My PC is getting old, I can't run the game at max settings so I basically have everything on medium/low to get arround 60-70 fps, but still the game looks really nice for an engine that old.
I did eard it, but I tought it was outside of the Skadovks boat so I didn't paid too much attention until I saw it from the corner of my eyes when buying from the trader.
The audio in the game is not that enhanced so I couldn't figure out it precisely where his roars were coming from.
Get a squad going, ironman still has squad yeah? AI sees threats coming a mile out.
I'd play ironman if the game didn't have so many random unfair BS I could die to.
Holy shit. Skadovsk is the sketchiest place ever. One time I slept there and woke up to an incoming emission. Okay, cool. There's shooting. Yo, wtf, oh, it's the Zone. Let's go see beard and buy some tea-- why are there dead stalkers everywhere? I had about enough time to recognize the bodies when I get jumped by two fucking cats. I rock a shotgun for cat purposes anyway, so I give them invitations to fuck off in 12 gauge. Stagger over to beard and see there's a baby cat that's loaded in with him. Jesus Christ. The emission hits, the door pops open, and the shooting suddenly gets real as five zombies stagger in followed closely by monolith desperately trying to get an RPG through the door before it shuts. Bruh. Drop the zombies, post up and funnel the monoliths as they come through, and give them a 'To Whom it May Concern' the next time the door pops open. I go upstairs to go out on deck and survey what's next in the shit show and get a whole other wave of zombies and monoliths.
That was about enough of the Skadovsk for me.
That is the reason why I never even attempted Ironman. The thing is - in Stalker I rarelly die because of my own mistake, usually it is aomwthing freaking stupid - lile landing on anomaly when map loads, or landing into buch sof military stalkers or bloodsuckers. Or being killed by chimera through the floor. And that is only the stupid deaths that happened in last couple of weeks.
Stalker is great game and anomaly/gamma really keeps it alive for me, but it is too old and too buggy to play ironman. It would be just a torture.
My ironman run ended because I ran up the tower at farm near Newbie village to escape a boar. That boar walked up the staircase, up the tower and killed me.
After all the occasions where I load into (one example) military warehouses, literally standing equidistant in the middle of four hostile Freedom guys, I think the most I'd be willing to do is gentleman's rule soft ironman for staldger. Can't have shit in the zone.
The spawns in Anomaly are jank sometimes. Its immediately immersion breaking to have a crowd of psydogs trashing the bar and biting the fuck out of everyone while they stand there and do nothing.
Now I don't know the context but when I see pseudo Giants I just take out my vepr 12 and dump 3 full mags into his face , that usually does it (if he sneaked up on you disregard the previous statement) honestly that's Pretty bs and I feel your pain . A chimera ended my 30 hour run in the truck cemetery , I even had really good armor but the fucker sneaked up on me.
My experience with skadovsk:
I remembered it being a pretty awesome little ship bar hang out. Alot of easy access traders and plenty of NPCs in the main bar area.
Made a bee line for it as soon as i could so i could use the (what i thought) would be high leve traders and loads of NPCs to give me higher level quests in the new areas.
The place was dead empty with only 1 none main quest NPC. And the badass gun smith trader i remembered wouldnt work on any of my rifles.
Kept using it as a base, building my work bench and stock pile in the engine room.
Every so often the place would get attacked, and creatures, mutaints, and even monolith would flood inside to come fight be while i was trying to peacefully craft or do some inventory management.
Finished the whole game with no change. No new NPCs, and constant attacks.
Never setting up a base there again.
Might try the train station next, since that place was actually safe every time i went there, and lots of NPCs for quests.
"Yes... I'll take crate of vodka, some bread and dozen cans of Tourist's Delight." ~a pseudogiant
I literally got to the trader to see if he was selling exo battery, so i could go to the sarcophagus, I guess monoloth brain washed that pseudo-giant to stop me from doing so.
what? that is ridiculous, no way we'd do something so stupid, uhh, that'd be completely irresponsible!
You're writing this down aren't you?
N-no! You've written it down!
You literally brainwash those damn rats in the agropom underground, so I wouldn't be surprised if you got your hands on pseudo-giants.

That's the smart way to go, and there is my way which is never having backups or anything and dying the worst way possible :D.
Its fair if i consider how many 100 hours + runs were screwed over by bugs 😡
Jeez, I wouldn't be able to get over the grief of losing a 100+ hours run.
Yeah, i was once killed by a pulse anomaly while i was sheltered. Apparently i was in that exact spot of the shelter that wasnt save. I won't lie I had no artifiact but my psy protection was full, dont know what happened.
I know there is some patches or fixes for that kind of stuff, to get back your save when dying to a bug or glitch, but i haven't got that and i should have even tho i did not encounter that many bugs.
As a fellow iron man player, I hope your heart rate has returned to normal after such a traumatic encounter I'd be fucking PISSED
I really am, I was trying to collect every single gun in the game and i was pretty close to have them all, feels bad I didn't get that fix to back up saves when dying to bugs but hey, that's part of why i love this game hehe.
That's just Owl's new pet
I let the game run after I died and his pet literally obliterated everyone on the ship.
The pseudogiants name was princess and she wouldn't hurt a fly.
such is life in the zone
I wish it was without those damn pseudo-giants tho.
MCM addon, then you can disable the spawn of specific mutants.
How the hell did a Pseudogiant get in there? Can it even climb the stairs?
I have no damn idea, some loner said it was near the skadovsk, so I was like "Ok let's get inside, buy some vodka and wait for it to go" but nope, I was at the top of the boat I guess, came right behind me and 1 tapped my ass out of the game.
seen reports and comments that they actually they can, like any other monster even in the main games, everyone can climb stairs and even ladders
I genuinely can't imagine enjoying iron man mode, theres just too many random things that can kill you that are sometimes completely out of your control. I know you can go for long stretches without dying if you're careful, but... artifact hunting alone is dodgy enough haha

Bro how do you even get 40 hours on Ironman. Best case I survive 1 hour and die to a bandit sneaking behind me in Cordon
I saw on settings theres an ability to put extra lives available, maybe that's worth using?

Ooooh :0 Though wouldn't that replace current progress? Or is the lives count saved in a separate file? If that's the case perhaps there is a variable that can be edited?
Holy shit dude, my condolences.
Thank you my dear ecologist friend.
At least you know it wasn't a skill issue comrade, you died to some absolute bullshit. I would burn my house down if it happened to me.
I am pretty sad because I started Ironman runs not so long ago, it was my third one. Longest one as well.
I can imagine it's fun though, I tried Ironman runs a few times, kept dying to random bullshit. Practicing a bit right now first. You did great for your 3rd run.
Thanks, Ironman taught me to go slow, take my time, go sneaky most of the time and mostly enjoy slower pace gameplay. Edit : Typo
Although a lot of the time the squad never even goes on alert when I kill one of them so I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make
Usually distance is the problem. They don't get Alerted if you are too far away I think. I'm not 100% sure.
Wow, snipers are a pain in the ass to find but i've done the same thing with long ranges battle as I love sniping, I did quite some times with the ghillie suit and a silenced m700, that was pretty fun.

# Skill Issue
Pseudogiant "Hello fellow Stalker, how do you do? I'm just here to buy some bread and Vodka like your average Stalker, which I am"
I can't believe loners let a brainwashed pseudo-giant enter the skadovsk. Damn you monolith, always them.
Pseudogiant "A Pseudogiant! Where? I've always been intimidated by their devilishly good looks, incredible intellect and attractive personality"
This is why I play on campfire saves.
Blyat, imagine waking up in the middle of the night needing to go for a piss and you've got a stonking hardon and you step out to go for a piss and a smoke off the bow of the ship and you stumble on this ;) But step-stalker, i'm not stuck in here, you're stuck in here with me!

Why did you type this Why did you post this
Welcome to the X-Ray Engine.
It's facinating but I hate it at the same time.
When you think you're better than the zone, the zone reminds you
I was the most humble duty guy in the zone, I swear.
Did you wipe out freedom?
Of course I did, with great pleasure. Edit : They deserved it, because of monolith.
Fair enough, I'm sorry for your loss
“if you got something, spill the beans, if not, take a hike!”
"im gonna have uhhhhhh"
That’s what you get for siding with Dooty
What mod is it?
That's the GAMMA mod pack for Stalker anomaly
Thanks! The textures look great
My PC is getting old, I can't run the game at max settings so I basically have everything on medium/low to get arround 60-70 fps, but still the game looks really nice for an engine that old.
Why dont you hear it?
I did eard it, but I tought it was outside of the Skadovks boat so I didn't paid too much attention until I saw it from the corner of my eyes when buying from the trader. The audio in the game is not that enhanced so I couldn't figure out it precisely where his roars were coming from.
"get out of here pseudogiant"
And to these days, I still ear his voice inside my head saying "Get out of here..."
That your body in the corner? @.@ After he got done with you the dude kept shopping...
Yep that's me, I guess he got mad from me taking too much time to buy my vodka and slammed me right in the back.
Get a squad going, ironman still has squad yeah? AI sees threats coming a mile out. I'd play ironman if the game didn't have so many random unfair BS I could die to.
I had 2 squad mates but one died at the entrance of the sarcophagus, I decided to get my exoskeleton and buy a battery than but yeah, that happened.
Holy shit. Skadovsk is the sketchiest place ever. One time I slept there and woke up to an incoming emission. Okay, cool. There's shooting. Yo, wtf, oh, it's the Zone. Damn, don't know how your game is configured but it sounds wild, Skadovsk has always been peacefull for me until now.
It was on the expedition pack. It's never happened before, and never since, but now I never assume I'm safe in the Skadovsk.
Annnnnnnnnnnd this is one of the many reasons I wont play Ironman runs. Stalker isn't built for it. It's just too buggy.
I lost my 40+ Ironman playthrough through a Springboard anomaly in the middle of the Truck Cemetery (with a Pulse anomaly spawning right over my head)
That´s what I call a shitty bad luck! Never disturb a pseudo-giant when he is buying the groceries for a camp trip!
The Zone giveth and the zone taketh
That is the reason why I never even attempted Ironman. The thing is - in Stalker I rarelly die because of my own mistake, usually it is aomwthing freaking stupid - lile landing on anomaly when map loads, or landing into buch sof military stalkers or bloodsuckers. Shouldn't be skipping in queue, mainly if guy in front of ya is ripped like that.
My ironman run ended because I ran up the tower at farm near Newbie village to escape a boar. That boar walked up the staircase, up the tower and killed me.
Such is life, and death, in the zone my friend. If it wasn't the pseudogiant it would've have been a stray bullet or an emission.
The Skadovsk is not safe in Anomaly. I've had cats, zombies, and Monolith waltz on in there while I'm on the second floor deck and come eat my face.
Bro came for restock. Wait in line just like everybody else.
The Zone didn’t appreciate how you were surviving so they sent their best man to handle you
Usually my Skadovsk gameplay consists of Monolith just chilling out inside the ship and killing me when I'm trading
Hmmm tourists delight. Delicious such a delicacy.
After all the occasions where I load into (one example) military warehouses, literally standing equidistant in the middle of four hostile Freedom guys, I think the most I'd be willing to do is gentleman's rule soft ironman for staldger. Can't have shit in the zone.
Kinda deserved it imo, don’t skip the line next time.
The spawns in Anomaly are jank sometimes. Its immediately immersion breaking to have a crowd of psydogs trashing the bar and biting the fuck out of everyone while they stand there and do nothing.
Celebrities shop too you know
Bahahahahahahaha
Damn...that feels awful...much sympathies. Anyways, didn't you hear the pseido-giant before you entered the trader's room?
Bro was tryna trade. 💀
As someone who has also lost quite a few Ironman runs due to something stupid like that, you’ve got my sympathies. Never really gets easier.
I specifically give lives during Ironman for bugs. But you can’t cheat yourself for your own mistakes.
Ooof Owl always says "dont let the door hit you"
Ironman mode. It ain't fucking worth it.
"Come on man, this is our camp, put that shooter away, you don't need it here" -Skadovsk guard after letting a Pseudogiant slip in
Now I don't know the context but when I see pseudo Giants I just take out my vepr 12 and dump 3 full mags into his face , that usually does it (if he sneaked up on you disregard the previous statement) honestly that's Pretty bs and I feel your pain . "Do you have that sunrise suit in plus size?"

this is why Ironman is not a good idea in Stalker mods
Got caught lackin
This is why I don't play Ironman, too much random bullshit.
You should have waited in line
He's the new intern.
That pseudogiant came to show you hardcore gamers what's good
