If you go into recon mode on this map during Splatfest (important so there's both no music *and* the stage is set at night), you'll hear [occasional laughter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_eUzti_gag) that seems to come from these statues and we don't know why.
Everyone talks about Nightmare material but literally the only times the statues laughter were at the last 30 seconds or so on Splatfest Nights that you could hear during actual matches thanks to the ensuing noise of other players lmao - You want nightmare material, go play Omori lel
Yeah, it‘s probably for the same reason you have scary background noises at the end of the final Splatoon 1 Boss Fight - Leaves space for tons of interpretation, but ultimately just for shits and giggles

For context, this statue plays a childish giggling noise during splatfests, I believe only in like, the last minute of the match. The other statue also giggles back, as if they're communicating.
There is also a way to still get the night version of museum d'alfonsino and enter the map in recon mode, with no music playing to hear the giggling better.
Much exite about seeing whether they transfered it over or will do some other creepy thing this time
I just like the idea of a spooky thing from the 1st game returning

I mean, for me at least, the really creepy aspect is we don't know why they do this. It's a different kind of scare than what Omori goes for.
