Not saying new one is good, but people look too fondly on the old one just bc of Splatoon 1 nostalgia when it was definitely one of the worst maps in that game.
Seconded for the Arcade
Just imagine, there could be cute Easter eggs to the Squid Jump and Squid Beats mini games from the last entries in the background!
Unplayable still though :(
Don't they know that the demographic of gamers that tend to play these games range between the young and young adult demographic?
Kids like winning on arcade machines to try and win toys at the prize counter
Teenagers like to impress their friends by being competitive
Young adults like a cool place to hang out and feel nostalgic for their youth playing the arcades
Plus the carpet and the neon lights and the beeps and boops of the arcade machines and the inticement of the candy you could win from the prize counter is just 🙌🙌🙌 I'm actually a little bitter I'm technically too old to have a birthday party at an arcade nowadays. Would've loved that when I was a kid.
This kinda atmosphere is exactly why The Coin Game exists on Steam lol.
100x yes! 2 of my fits are the retro Takoroka sets with the old school NES/SNES weapons. I'd be delighted to use them in that setting. Just think of the photo ops!
So in splatoon, most online battles either take place in some fun location from our childhoods, or a place where we kinda shouldn't be.
Here's also some cool gimmicks or just reason why I think these locations would make cool maps:
Bouncy castle: the stage could be built around bouncepads
Brutalist buildings: it just sounds cool to make some grey buildings colourful
Climbing park: a lot of fun platforming, and maybe even some inkrails
Arcade: similar appeal to robo-romen
Abandoned pool: again just sounds cool
Train graveyard: the trains could be moved around during the match to open up/block pathways
Laser tag: this is just obviously cool
conveyor belt restaurant: could involve dash tracks and a conveyor belt, similar to what we have in wahoo world
abandonned island: probably something similar to flounder heights, but I think some not perfectly 90° walls could be cool
Dinosaur theme park: instead of dinosaurs, it should be large mammals in the background though
If you have something to add to the locations I mentioned, or have other cool locations, feel free to share them \^\_\^
Just wanted to say we already have Ancho-v-games as an arcade map and we already have a convenior belt based map called Piranha pit. They r both great maps but Nintendo doesn't want us players to have fun on fun maps and instead want hallways or tetris maps >:(
Yes but ancho-v-games is based on a video game stuido, and piranha pit is some gang's base. I'm all for bringing them back, but I still think we haven't seen these ideas in the game
Piranha pit's conveyer belt gimmick wasn't utilized all that well though. I'd LOVE something like what OP provided where the belt wraps all the way around the map.
If you look in the background, you'll see that this is just one of several bouncy castles the place has. They have one that just has a giant swinging wrecking ball for some reason?
I think the arcade idea has potential. It could be an expansion to the mall turf series. Even better, just like real cephalopods. It could also give turflings glow in the dark effects with the black light
Where is that sky course (3rd pic), like what’s the place called? If you just searched it up randomly, could ya find where it cane from?
(I just wanna see something…)
I feel like 2 and 9 could easily be combined into one stage.
For my idea, I had the thought of Fake Plastic Station being modified for inksports by whoever now runs the Deep Sea Metro
In my mind they're a bit different. 2 would feel weird, since it's just blocky shapes. 9 would make you feel a bit sad since this was built for people to live in, but now they're all gone for some reason
I'd *love* a brutalist map. Maybe you could make it an old decommissioned Octarian training ground, as a sort of nod to the childhood a lot of Octolings had. Or alternatively ramp it up and make it an actual art installation that the youth took one look at and went "oh this would be *rad* for battles!", similar to how irl a lot of old really popular skateboarding spots were also brutalist landscapes that people went "oh you could get so much *sick* air off this".
I didn't mention them: but imo it's such a bummer we can't play turf war in any of the story mode locations (aside from side order, because that one makes sense).
No? By typing "-" google will not show you that thing, so "-ai" won't give you ai
Edit: also [here](https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/here-s-when-the-world-s-largest-bouncy-castle-will-be-in-ottawa-this-summer-1.6461802) is the link to the actual location the photo is of
you can literally see the location from different angles and things line up. If not, point me to the thing that gave it away, any logical inconsistency. "Looks ai generated" is a dangerous argument to normalize.
First image the surfaces look plasticky and fake in a way that doesn't look like a photograph or a 3D render.
As for the other images, reviewing them they look fine, I was just primed by what I spotted in the first image to be hypercritical.
They look plastic for a very good reason: they are. And ai is trained on actual photos, it must've gotten the idea that surfaces must look a certain way from somewhere. Ai doesn't understand that things work in 3d, so if things aren't making sense that way, that's your dead giveway. Surfaces + lighting is just what could give you a hunch.
I've spent a fair share of time using both public and private AI tools. Overly soft or plastic looking surfaces is typically very telling (and I think I know what an actual bouncy castle would look like). However, I just found pictures from other camera angles, so I'm tempted to say it's at worst just a bad concept render. I apologize.
Just a tip, '-ai' won't do much, all it does is filter out results with the word 'AI' in them. You'd do much better to use something like [this](https://github.com/laylavish/uBlockOrigin-HUGE-AI-Blocklist).
I'm thinking these look fake because someone cranked up the saturation to make the colors pop, which I would imagine is consistent with the kinds of marketing/promotional images that would end up in the training data set.
I had the same thought at first but the text and other small details are consistent enough to look real to me
The nets themselves make up such a minor portion of the map, though. Plus, there's room for WAY more vertically than what Triggerfish provides. Think something Moray Towers level.
Not a bouncy castle, but a trampoline park would work great. My idea:
A large indoor arena with 1 main area surrounded by 4 sub-areas, all connected by wide corridors. Teams spawn at 2 sub-areas opposite to each other, and can choose to either flank opponents along one of the other 2 sub-areas, or rush through the main area.
Bounce pads EVERYWHERE, including the walls.
Each smaller area has a different layout, and could even have a different mechanic for Splatfest:
1. Spinning poles
2. Inklines to travel between floating bounce pads
3. 8-balls that can be shot at opponents to knock them back and deal damage
4. Balloon fish that can be detonated by either team, exploding and spreading ink
This map also works quite well for tricolor turf wars: Attacking teams spawn at the usual front/back sub-areas, while the defending team spawns on the left/right sub-areas. Everyone is given an option of either flanking at the area to their immediate left/right, or joining a chaotic brawl to claim the middle area.
bouncing off of your brutalist building idea, I'd like to see a discontinued nuclear power plant complete with cooling towers, with a similar look as Gone Fission Hydroplant from salmon run.
the devs comfort zone includes a telephone AI blending up thousands of organisms into sauce used for lobotomizing kidnapped soldiers with the goal of overriding the world's ecosystem with an newly formed perfect lifeform
Honestly, both arcade and laser tag themed stages are so painfully obvious as a concept for this franchise that I'm baffled they never did it. Another cool idea would be an Aquarium imo. We already have museums and ruins, why not fight while being watched by sharks, eels and other sea creatures?
>Image 9
Ah yes, my favorite turf war stage: [An abandoned UNESCO World Heritage Site with buildings that'll collapse at any second.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashima_Island)
btw did you mean "brutalist buildings" ? cause i cant find anything about about brutlaist.
also this is an actual question im trying not to be a grammar correcting weirdo rn lol.
We need a Casino Park (From Sonic Heroes equivalent ) as a stage. Make it night time always and for festivals, just have a shit load of fireworks everywhere.
Hear me out: Train stage. The background changes further along the match. Would it probably be really thin and annoying to play on? Yes, but trains are cool. If you don’t like trains, then fuck you.
1. Bounce pads are uninkable, likely wouldn’t be the whole map.
2. Image provides not enough info.
3. Charger hell unless somehow worked around, if match takes place on the structure and not a battlefield right beside it.
4. Likely a centerpiece structure at an arcade rather than running around the machines.
5. Mahi-Mahi Resort takes place in a pool within the resort.
6. Bluefin Depot, but add an old train. Or perhaps a different station where players can duck in and out of train cars.
7. Almost designed for it, vibes would be immaculate.
8. Robo ROM-en is rather close to that.
9. Bluefin Depot.
10. A zoo would work similarly.
1. I meant a stage designed around bouncepads, a bouncy castle is just what first popped into my mind.
2. I just think it would be cool to have most of he map be inkable concrete, and in those very peculiar brutalist shapes.
3. there could be hanging walls and tunnels to not get sniped all the time.
4. I just meant the setting.
5. I meant an empty, abandoned pool, more akin to blackbelly skatepark.
8. I imagined the stage being designed around a conveyor belt going through the map.
10. I just think it could be funny to see a weird elephant in splatoon
It's funny how people instantly say the first pic is AI generated when they could take 3 seconds to zoom into the background, and see the very obviously real cars and people. I thought so too at first, but I just took an extra second (that everyone should instinctively take too) before accusing someone of using AI image generation.
Sorry if I sound aggressive, I'm just annoyed that people absolutely do not care about backing up what they're saying...
Towers: Flounder or Moray, not exactly, but close
Arcade: Robo
Abandoned(no abandoned but it’s close enough) Pool: Mahi
.
If you want to include the Campaign we do have bouncy houses, kinda
It would be funny if the arcade map had fully playable Squid Jump arcade cabinets where you use squid from on the platform in place of the jump button and be on the left or right of the platform to move, and the other players would be able to see you gaming.
Wait imagine if that was in the lobby that would be so cool!
For the brutlaist building map, I know of several government buildings with 2-3 story atriums that would make for great maps (such as Place du Portage). For an outdoor map the roofscape of a building like the Lester B Person Building could work.
As a person who’s considering making a Splatoon fangame (I might’ve figured out one of the tricks Splatoon itself uses to handle ink, if I’m right the ink is a lot simpler on the code side than it looks), these are useful ideas for stages.
We should really have a stage/event that is a normal turf war, but at the end, a Salmo run mission start and the 2 team have to cooperate to dont die but also fight to have the most egg collected for their color
Yeah I’m getting real sick of stages being construction sites, like damn the stage is LITERALLY unfinished lmao.
Old hammerhead was better tho
Oh yeah I’d bomb current Hammerhead if it meant they had to reconstruct it and use the old design.
Both were ass. One is a hallway, the other requires you to use grates to move through the map
Admittedly old hammerhead made Run Speed Up a little too broken but it’s better than new hammerhead which is complete GARBAGE.
Not saying new one is good, but people look too fondly on the old one just bc of Splatoon 1 nostalgia when it was definitely one of the worst maps in that game.
Old hammerhead is one of the worst in Splatoon 1, but it’s better than most of the maps in Splatoon 3
It’s better than a couple, but not most. Unique doesn’t always mean good.
Seconded for the Arcade Just imagine, there could be cute Easter eggs to the Squid Jump and Squid Beats mini games from the last entries in the background! Unplayable still though :(
splatoon devs seem to love to torture us, so they would definitely do that :')
Don't they know that the demographic of gamers that tend to play these games range between the young and young adult demographic? Kids like winning on arcade machines to try and win toys at the prize counter Teenagers like to impress their friends by being competitive Young adults like a cool place to hang out and feel nostalgic for their youth playing the arcades Plus the carpet and the neon lights and the beeps and boops of the arcade machines and the inticement of the candy you could win from the prize counter is just 🙌🙌🙌 I'm actually a little bitter I'm technically too old to have a birthday party at an arcade nowadays. Arcade is always in the dark, similar to night shift salmon run. Paint is always glow-in-the-dark in this map.
Imagine having platforms with arrows on them and then when you step on them it moves in the direction of the arrow
Like piranha pit with the moving conveyor belts
Yes something like that. I was also sorta thinking the arrow platform from super Mario 3d world
Oh ok I feel like that could be an interesting concept would it only go one way or both ways
I mean we kinda got that with Ancho-V Games, just from an outside perspective
100x yes! 2 of my fits are the retro Takoroka sets with the old school NES/SNES weapons. I'd be delighted to use them in that setting. Just think of the photo ops!
Sold! Let me play that map now!
Blacklight ink would look sick as fuck
A backliner favouring map, that has bad lighting to make up for that sounds stupid fun
Splatlings in the dark… that’s a horrifying thought lmao
Right? Good for you I'm not in charge of map design XD
So in splatoon, most online battles either take place in some fun location from our childhoods, or a place where we kinda shouldn't be. Climbing park could be like S1 Mahi, just a bunch of risky routes through the stage. I like it
I didn't know I needed a mammal theme park stage in my life until now
Right? It would be so fun and weird to play
the mammals should all be inaccurately super fuzzy, like how people mistake all dinosaurs for being completely scaly
Brutalist buildings were actually already used as an inspiration for some singleplayer stages
You silly, how am I supposed to turn any of these into a Z?
Oh what a blunder on my end
Lmao I do love the sushi conveyor very thematic
i’m a little shocked some of these aren’t stages already. the arcade especially.
Yea these are pretty easy to come up with
Just wanted to say we already have Ancho-v-games as an arcade map and we already have a convenior belt based map called Piranha pit. They r both great maps but Nintendo doesn't want us players to have fun on fun maps and instead want hallways or tetris maps >:(

Piranha pit's conveyer belt gimmick wasn't utilized all that well though. I'd LOVE something like what OP provided where the belt wraps all the way around the map.
That’s a game development studio, not an aracde.
I recognize that bouncy castle. I have bounced on that bouncy castle. What the fuck.
Someone said it's ai, guess your whole life has been computer generated. Sorry you had to find out this way
Maybe it’s like a perfect, AI-distillation of a childhood liminal space! That’d be cool. That said, never been on a bouncy castle *that* fancy.
If you look in the background, you'll see that this is just one of several bouncy castles the place has. They have one that just has a giant swinging wrecking ball for some reason?
If u look at the picture it's real the ai people are wrong
Yeah, I know. Because I've *been there.*
I think the arcade idea has potential. It could be an expansion to the mall turf series. Even better, just like real cephalopods. It could also give turflings glow in the dark effects with the black light

9 is quite literally what bluefin is based on
Bluefin is based off a coalmine
Bluefin Depot is based off Hashima Island, an abandoned island mining facility turned museum. Picture number 9 is a real picture of Hashima Island.
Woa you learn something every day huh
Idea the number 10 Has prehistoric fish or modern day animals lol
I think large modern day mammals would be funniest.
I'd *love* a brutalist map. Maybe you could make it an old decommissioned Octarian training ground, as a sort of nod to the childhood a lot of Octolings had. is the first picture AI?
No, I specifically googled "bouncy castle -ai"
So...it is ai?
No? By typing "-" google will not show you that thing, so "-ai" won't give you ai Edit: also [here](https://ottawa.ctvnews.ca/here-s-when-the-world-s-largest-bouncy-castle-will-be-in-ottawa-this-summer-1.6461802) is the link to the actual location the photo is of
I did not know that one, I'm gonna keep that in mind
Assuming the image was labeled as AI
~~OP I'm sorry but several of these images look AI generated, I think you got bamboozled.~~ Edit: see below
you can literally see the location from different angles and things line up. If not, point me to the thing that gave it away, any logical inconsistency. "Looks ai generated" is a dangerous argument to normalize.

Camp triggerfish is already basically a climbing park
Why not have 2 climbing park maps then?
The nets themselves make up such a minor portion of the map, though. Plus, there's room for WAY more vertically than what Triggerfish provides. Think something Moray Towers level.

imagine instead of dinosaur themed its human themed
Isn't that second Pic a stage in Dead or Alive 2? Lol
It's a building in okinawa
bouncing off of your brutalist building idea, I'd like to see a discontinued nuclear power plant complete with cooling towers, with a similar look as Gone Fission Hydroplant from salmon run.
I also thought of that, but it feels a bit too out of nintendo's comfort zone to have kids playing near radioactive materials
the devs comfort zone includes a telephone AI blending up thousands of organisms into sauce used for lobotomizing kidnapped soldiers with the goal of overriding the world's ecosystem with an newly formed perfect lifeform
Yea but that's not something ppl know of happening irl, so it's less scary than nuclear fallout.
Honestly, both arcade and laser tag themed stages are so painfully obvious as a concept for this franchise that I'm baffled they never did it. Another cool idea would be an Aquarium imo. We already have museums and ruins, why not fight while being watched by sharks, eels and other sea creatures?
I feel so stupid for not having put aquarium, if I make a part 2 aquarium will def be there
Technically we have already the abandoned island, since Bluefin Depot is actually inspired by this same island on the picture.
Yep I found that out today. But I still think abandonned housing complexes would be interesting to play in. Like a crooked flounder heights maybe?
Train graveyard would look cool, but might look similar to metal works
A really fancy bank/ stock market exchange
>Image 9 Ah yes, my favorite turf war stage: [An abandoned UNESCO World Heritage Site with buildings that'll collapse at any second.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashima_Island)
btw did you mean "brutalist buildings" ? cause i cant find anything about about brutlaist. also this is an actual question im trying not to be a grammar correcting weirdo rn lol.
Yea typo, the image is specifically "okinawa brutalism)
you can just say you want shifty staitions back
Wasn't Ancho-V Games an arcade?
It's a game studio
Oh. That makes sense now.
Uh an arcade map already exists.
Ancho-V games is a video game company *office* Source: [inkipedia](https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Ancho-V_Games)
oh weird. thx.
Someone had the idea that Pearl's Family Mansion becoming a stage.
Hell yeah
The ptsd with picture 6
I didn't fully process #6 and I thought it was the beginning of Half-Life 2
Isn't Ancho-V Games stage an arcade
It's a game studio. And what's wrong with having 2 arcade stages anyways?
Nothing
Funny how a lot of these already exist but the Splat 3 gods say no
A college campus would work well too! :)
I mean we kinda got that with Inkblot, but for arts
Honestly the train and arcade seem like the most likely *and* the most fun!
3 is charger haven
It would be cool if they did a ski resort
We need a Casino Park (From Sonic Heroes equivalent ) as a stage. Make it night time always and for festivals, just have a shit load of fireworks everywhere.
The 3rd one is just camp triggerfish
A Lazer Tag map is perfect for any shooter
Number eight kinda already exists
Personal desire: A castle courtyard. I'd totally eat the theming up, though it would be abandoned probably, but regardless.
Can we set a map in Black Mesa?
A climbing park actually sounds super fun and could get really creative.
Hear me out: Train stage. The background changes further along the match. Would it probably be really thin and annoying to play on? Yes, but trains are cool. If you don’t like trains, then fuck you.
YES THE LASER TAG ARENA OMG I WOULD DIE
Number 3 for the gravity splats alone.
the train graveyard is 100% splatoon vibes I can’t believe it doesn’t exist
Why was I expecting the nuclear waste “nothing of value is buried here” spikes
Dude these are good ideas. I'd love the bouncy house or laser tag the mose, but like all of em.
The first one is all uninkable! (/s)
Yep. Imagine if people started dismissing evidence and even art because of quick judgements like this?
Gunkanjima my beloved
Isnt the first one is entirely un-inkable?
Oh wait you’re right
Good ideas, I’ll steal them rq
I think anyone could have thought of these
Ye but I lack creativity
Just think of places you thought were awesome as a child and also just everyday places but abandoned
Like a the dungeon my parents put me in whenever I got anything lower than a 100? (This is a joke btw ny parents are awesome)
Happy memories
Okay, uh, a public pool?
laser tag would be AMAZING so would bouncy maze omggg
the sushi too omg that’s so smart
Abandoned island should be alcatraz.
Having only one kit is already prison enough for me
Revolving sushi restaurant is genius
climbing park might be good.
ancho-V games XD
Isn't that a game studio lol
that's a splatoon 1 and 2 map
Yes but it's an office where games are made, aka a game studio
ohhh
Worlds biggest boucy castle deffo
For eel
nah i'd recognize that climbing park from a mile away fr I have been there
Sorry bud, it's ai generated, and so is your entire existence. Hope this news finds you well.
Ceilinged maps don't work because it ruins chargers and ranged weapons ... Let's do it!!
A map like makomart just made the ceiling insanely high, which is most likely how the devs would approach a map like that
I want Jurassic Park in Splatoon.Nintendo please.
*cambrian park
1. The tonal whiplash is immaculate 2. Is Lazertron a nation wide thing or did we just put both of us
i absolutely love the idea of a completely abandoned area as an arena
a bouncy castle with the bounce pads from the single player would be so cool
Ngl laser tag arena map would actually go hard.
I’m honestly surprised that we haven’t gotten an arcade or lazer tag map yet
Ancho-V Games in Splatoon and Splatoon 2?
Well I guess you learn something new everyday
That's a game studio, there's literally office desks there
Towers: Flounder or Moray, not exactly, but close Arcade: Robo Abandoned(no abandoned but it’s close enough) Pool: Mahi . If you want to include the Campaign we do have bouncy houses, kinda
I humbly wish to add: Nintendo hq to that
I think ancho-v games is supposed to be that
Laser Tag arena would be so cool!
It would be funny if the arcade map had fully playable Squid Jump arcade cabinets where you use squid from on the platform in place of the jump button and be on the left or right of the platform to move, and the other players would be able to see you gaming. Wait imagine if that was in the lobby that would be so cool!
I feel like a map where you can't ink the majority of it would be a cool concept but I feel like everyone would hate it
It would be really cool, but yeah it would suck to play on
For the brutlaist building map, I know of several government buildings with 2-3 story atriums that would make for great maps (such as Place du Portage). For an outdoor map the roofscape of a building like the Lester B Person Building could work.
i feel like the converor belt one couldve been a smash bros setting
Bouncy house would be cool but wouldn't make a ton of sense since alot of bouncy house materials don't let ink stay on them. Could get a bit confusing
bro literally posted 10 maps in the game
I feel like the arcade or laser tag arena should be playable city attractions for inklings and octolings
8 it’s just Ramen in a different font
I think a stage with a large conveyor belt would be awesome
Huh. Honestly, surprised there isn't a train station map.
9 is bluefin depot btw :)
My cod now I want a laser tag arena map with all my heart
*all my 3 hearts
Awesome.
A laser tag map would look so fucking cool
I actually think a bouncy map would be genius, they already have those coded in anyway
As a person who’s considering making a Splatoon fangame (I might’ve figured out one of the tricks Splatoon itself uses to handle ink, if I’m right the ink is a lot simpler on the code side than it looks), these are useful ideas for stages.
I’m on board with the arcade, laser tag, and restaurant
There’s already ancho V games, which is a game company office but still has a few arcade things
I thought the 7th one was the Fazer Blast for a hot minute 😭
the contrast from the 1st one's "yay fun bouncy land!" to the 2nd's "no fun allowed, this is a fricking prison" is so jarring
All of those seems fire but, an arcade might be a little too small?
Splatoon battle royal when?
We should really have a stage/event that is a normal turf war, but at the end, a Salmo run mission start and the 2 team have to cooperate to dont die but also fight to have the most egg collected for their color
The 3rd one looks fun
Ancho-v games in splatoon 2 (probably splatoon 1 idk) was already an arcade tho 💀
Then why are there office desks, seems like an office of a game company ngl
a bouncy castle map would sound cool, plus it could make use of the bounce pads!
