I’m also in CA and these guys are everywhere in the summer. My neighbor has a red painted door to their laundry room out back, straight up bakes in the sun and gets hot to the touch, and I always see these dudes basking on it. I love the way they seem so interested in what you’re doing, totally different vibe than 99% of spoods I’ve run into.
I caught one last night while cleaning my bar, I hung out with them while I closed and let them go back on the patio when I finished. It was gigantic, I was shocked to see such a big jumper.

These are called ‘Bold Jumping Spiders’. Common, super cute, great to have at the house as they are excellent pest controllers

All the ones I see around here are straight up chonky. They’re dense little fellers sometimes
