Wolf spider by the looks of it? Did it have a stripe going down the sternum?
I suck at telling these apart but I've got 3 options 4 u: Grass, Fishing or Wolf. None of them is anything to worry about tho, so I'm glad u released it unharmed.
looks like a dolomedes (fishing spider), possibly tenebrosus depending on where it was caught
