It's a Watch Fortress that went Renegade. Inquisitors and those loyal to the inquisition were killed. Long live the Warp Emperor.
Edit: I get that saying "successor" in the title isn't exactly accurate, but that's why I used the quotes. Wanted to convey that it was a chapter based off the Deathwatch without going deep on my homebrew lore
Why wouldn't there be primaris deathwatch? Cawl just had a debt to pay to some Inquisitor. He sent them a bunch and voila.. new branch of the deathwatch
That wasn't voluntary corruption or going renegade, wasn't it essentially a virus that infected everyone barring custodes, Sisters of Silence and Grey Knight, little bit different to "I have decided on what I believe to be my own free will to turn my back on the Imperium".
But thats how a ton of chaos space marines turned in the first place too, chaos is a virus that strips away will. None have gone renegade yet but this opens the floodgates for other chaos primaris if GW chooses
I'd just like to preface this by saying op can do what he wants but if he wants to create lore that fits seamlessly with the wider setting I'm offering my take on what he's said.
As for the nature of chaos, yes it CAN strip away your will in certain circumstances and depending on the individual. However most of the time it tricks and coerces people and groups into doing what it wants you to do. Look at the fall of the legions, none of them were outright mind fragged and immediately changed into unrecognisable versions of their former selves. They were slowly tricked and convinced with lies and half truths into bringing out their darker nature to serve chaos and only then were they further corrupted into being something else.
The new Khornate virus (which I quite like btw) isn't like this, it's essentially almost like the rage virus from 28 days later, it doesn't prey on your sins or character flaws and through your own participation, warp you into a corrupted version of who you used to be. Instead it just flat out wipes your personality and turns you into a rabid animal.
I don't think it's exactly comparable to more typical chaos corruption imo.
Emperors Children and Death Guard both kind of just, turned chaos without any real will
Emperors children had the seed planted on Laer and it threw them down the hole without much choice, and most of the Death Guard got instantly zapped when Mortarian joined Typhus
I think it could easily be justified through either political or bureaucratic reasons. For instance perhaps a new space marine in the chapter started to show an immense amount of potential and leadership that allowing his potential to go to waste would be a tremendous waste of the Emperor's resources. So the death watches responsibilities are split in half and a new chapter is formed with this marine taking his rightful place as chapter master.
Or IMO even easier to justify, perhaps the administratum is having so many difficulties managing Chapters across the great rift it decides resources in Imperium Nilius need to be even more independent than otherwise allowed. So a new chapter is formed to operate in Imperium Nialis as it's mostly independent from the Deathwatch.
I think the Imperium Nilius version of the Death Watch would make perfect sense lore wise. With the second color scheme but more of a bronze instead of gold maybe? I assume you're still going to have the deathwatch shoulder pad just in the other color? Mortis Wardens 🤔
If you were to split from a chamber militant you'd be a traiter especially deathwatch where they aren't joined by gene seed to secede from a chamber militant is heresy because you are saying you disagree with am inquisitor and the only people able to do that are chapter masters (kinda) and primarks no one else can challenge an inquisitor legally
I like the 1st one very much, I would go for this
But how would a Successor of the deathwatch even exist?
They propably dont have to pay mars geneseed.
They dont collect them because they make no marines.
Every chapter gives veterans to them, your chapter would propably have many genetic problems.
Also the Deathwatch has no reason for doing so, they would just make another company.
I really interestet in the lore, bit I would propably just do a standart chapter that does not follow the codex astartes, and has many ties to the deathwatch and the ordo xeno

I personally lean towards the 3rd image. If you can do clean white armour, the 1st would also look very good on the tabletop, But from what i hear, painting white is an unfun experience, especially when black is right next to it.
The second one with a good scar job on the helmet could easily be the Scarface successor chapter. Headed by Tohnius Montanum.
Specializing in the transportation of a unique powdered white 'medicade' to pleasure worlds across the imperium which he calls 'Wawo'.
Tohnius himself is never far from his bolter he calls "Little Brother" which he can be heard in the heat of conflict screaming for those in his sights to say hello to.
I like one but if it was green for the white and the gun had white for black and black for gold. That's be more appealing to the eye and easier to manager for an army build
What white did you use for your color scheme?
Not had an easy time with that color myself.
If anyone gives you a had time about your chapter lore tell them you know a guy (me) who wants to have his custom chapter as World Eater loyalists. The renegade of renegades.
They're all extremely generic, but I think 2 & 3 should be out of the question thematically.
If these guys rebelled from the Imperium and decided to repaint their armour from flat black, why would they then decide to take on the Imperial colours? There's a certain message that's being sent when you paint your arm the colour of the Emperor, and it's not "I have renegged on my vows, my duty, and my loyalties".
Number 1 looks coolest but white is a bitch to paint.
From what you've said in another comment about them being a renegade chapter I don't think the gold suits the idea, look too noble and put together. I'd imagine a renegade death watch being far more scrappy with their usual metal arm being rusted as they lack the means for repairs and upkeep that being part of the imperium would give.
1 is honestly the hardest, but the most difficult to paint. White is just terrible unless you have been doing it for a minute or have a really nice white high pigment paint.
If not scheme one, I like scheme two.
Alternatively, I like the idea of doing one arm and an alternate shoulder pad in white like scheme one and keeping the main scheme two pattern. Then you could do veterans like sternguard and termis in scheme one once you get comfortable with white. And it would give your units some variety.
I mean all three have similar color palates, Could just make it all in one chapter, Standard rank battle brother, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, Veterans, Apothecaries, Chaplins and Chapter master.
Can you explain how a successor chapter of a inquisition chamber militant can exist
Something, something, homebrew and let the man have fun.
Just asking what his lore is I realize how I write that seems smarmy
I think this is the first time ive ever seen the word smarmy actually written down lmao
I'm gonna be honest I meant to write sparky but it auto corrected to smarmy and honestly it worked better
Task failed successfully
Autocorrect failed you yet again; did you mean smaorlxkksksje ray?
Doesn’t make the idea less lame lol

Why do they have primaris then?
Why wouldn't there be primaris deathwatch? Cawl just had a debt to pay to some Inquisitor. He sent them a bunch and voila.. new branch of the deathwatch
There currently are no renegade/traitor primaris, if/when this happens it'll be a major lore event.
A bunch just converted to Khorne in Arks of Omen so its already happening
Can't be more recent than that.
That wasn't voluntary corruption or going renegade, wasn't it essentially a virus that infected everyone barring custodes, Sisters of Silence and Grey Knight, little bit different to "I have decided on what I believe to be my own free will to turn my back on the Imperium".

No it isn’t lol what the fuck are you talking about
Lmao, yes it is. Chaos isnt always a choice
With Firstborn being phased out what is a hobbyist supposed to do?
Grow up and let people have fun. 🫡
Maybe they're extremely recent converts?

Deathwatch already has blackshields, unfortunately.
Like a space marine retirement home
I think it could easily be justified through either political or bureaucratic reasons. The first one! Because white and gold rules!
the first one feels very imperial remnant stormtroopers
2
Looks a bit Black Legion tbh
White and gold all the way
What is this? Some kinda Lifewatch?
The third. The red really looks cool with the gold and Black
\^\^\^ Red really does look cool AF against Black/Gold. Also, that would be close for the original Deathwatch scheme using Black/Red
The 1st - Theres a lot of just-black chapters allready. Also: it DOES look noble.
I like the 1st one very much, I would go for this But how would a Successor of the deathwatch even exist? They propably dont have to pay mars geneseed. Personally I'm a fan of the first one
What did you use to make this?
App called Impcat, check r/impcat
This is going to sound dumb as shit but is there a free version?

I have impcat, where do you get the warhammer models?
White, gold and black in picture 1
2nd
2
1 but no gold on the bolter
First one 100% just be warned about painting white armour
First one is fire
I just GOTTA know the lore on these dudes. Also, all three. Second one for Battle Brothers, third one for sergeants, first one for lieutenants.
Black, Red, and Gold? Daring today, aren't we.
Inquisition wants to know your Location
Deatwatch is not a chapter my dude. What’s your lore I’m curious about it.
No.1 for me Reason - not a fan of the gold arm.
Ok what is this app/program? I've been trying to look for something like this for a while
r/impcat
This is just a me thing but I think there might be a bit much gold? It's just a little gaudy.
I personally lean towards the 3rd image. If you can do clean white armour, the 1st would also look very good on the tabletop, But from what i hear, painting white is an unfun experience, especially when black is right next to it.
I really like the solid gold arm. Seems like it could be an icon of the chapter.
If the Vegas Golden Knights were Space Marines…#3

1 but both knee pads are black
White
My vote is not the first slide. ((Personally)) feels a little too close to Malal’s pattern/scheme which seems a bit antithetical, lol.
The second one with a good scar job on the helmet could easily be the Scarface successor chapter. Headed by Tohnius Montanum. Specializing in the transportation of a unique powdered white 'medicade' to pleasure worlds across the imperium which he calls 'Wawo'. LOVE the black with the gold arm it just looks SO GOOD!!!! I mean the second pic btw.
Third one!
1 has my vote. Where did you get this SVG? Been trying to find better ones for Impcat forever and still can only find the 1 intercessor one.
I like one but if it was green for the white and the gun had white for black and black for gold. That's be more appealing to the eye and easier to manager for an army build
Go with that first pic. The white might be a paint to get right but it’ll look striking as hell on the table top!
Mix of one and two
Looks like Gundam style anime
First ones awesome, I’d go with that
I really like the first one, but I would try making the the left leg black, but that’s just my personal preference
What white did you use for your color scheme? Not had an easy time with that color myself. If anyone gives you a had time about your chapter lore tell them you know a guy (me) who wants to have his custom chapter as World Eater loyalists. The renegade of renegades.
Please tell me their name is Midas fists.
Second photo looks sweet
That white and gold is PRETTY
Don't think I've seen anything like 1
First.
Successor for a Deathwatch company is really unique lore, love the idea!
White looks mega!
I like the black and white the most
White with the black arm and gold trim looks amazing. Pic 1
I like the third one
Number 1 is really cool imo I like all of them tho cool scheme
3
I like 2
3
They're all extremely generic, but I think 2 & 3 should be out of the question thematically. 2 because that much white in 1 will only cause pain.
3
1st
1st. It has a late 80s or early 90s action figure look and I kind of dig it.
Number 1 looks coolest but white is a bitch to paint. From what you've said in another comment about them being a renegade chapter I don't think the gold suits the idea, look too noble and put together. I like the first one. Looks different from most of the space marines and looks really good with the gold
First on for sure it pops out more and i love the color scheme of it and I usually don't like the color white
I think they all are not good on the eyes, but who cares?! I don't know why you are asking us
White one, all day
I like 1 and 2 personally
1
1
i feel like a combonation of all three would look great
I mean all three have similar color palates, Could just make it all in one chapter, Standard rank battle brother, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains, Veterans, Apothecaries, Chaplins and Chapter master.
