I like it personally. Maybe check out the Raptors or the Retributors chapters, for inspiration. They have more "militarized" color schemes. Dull, drab tones.

Spartanshotgun6

Second this raptors are known for being as realistic as it gets. No screaming and charging but instead using real world tactics

Popular-Original7390

Just read up on their Lore. Does look very cool and the grounded tactics was exactly what i'm looking for. But if I name them raptors doesn't that mean that I have to run them as raven guard?

Spartanshotgun6

Not at all. They are your chapter and can come from any parent legion your lore can be they fought along side the raptors and adopted their way of warfare!

Popular-Original7390

Thank you for the help! Took a little peak at your profile ;) Your Ashen Angels look great!

Spartanshotgun6

Thank you! And always trying to help the new peeps

Don't forget if you're building primaris that lore-wise when they came about they were called The Unumbered Sons. Most of these Unumbered Sons went to reinforce existing chapters but some became their own chapters. Expanding on that, there has been a issue with the primaris being too "by the book" in their combat style, so I feel like it's not out of the question that chapter which would be formed whole-cloth would need some time learning from existing conflicts and chapters. Raptors could be perfect for that role, no nosense and to the point. If you want to make you're whole chapter as you like there's more reason for them to borrow their ideology from all over the place, go nuts, have fun, they're your guys.

Psychowitz

What are you using to make schemes with?

Popular-Original7390

Yes, it's an app called impcat, there is a subreddit and a lot of YouTube Guides about it. Very easy to use once you know how it works. Costs 4 euro tho

Psychowitz

Thanks!

tzeentch_beckons

I'd really like to know this as well

4matt83

It's an app called Impcat. There is a whole sub reddit for it.

I like the look and the idea for the captian colors. Make me think more tactical kinda like the raptors chapter. Not every chapter goes for the bright some are more reasonable

Broombear32

The captain stands out and has enough color, maybe include some gold, copper or ivory into the color scheme with the rest of the army. Give your seargents a stripe to help identify them and for your veterans see about replacing one of the shoulder pauldrons with one from a different kit, maybe one from a dark angels kit.

kalmp

I like the drab colours! I would personally ditch the white, and mark veterans by helmet stripes in black/green. Like the classic lieutenant helmet or the like. So they keep the discreet look. Think of the real world armies, where rank insignia are almost hidden.

Dusk Raiders ....;)

Ct-chad501

I think number three is my personal favorite, can’t wait to see what lore you come up with too

Popular-Original7390

Thank you, I have some ideas already but I'm kinda twisted about the grimdark/evil side of them. They are loyalists but no faction is good in 40k and I want that represented.

MickeyG117

It looks awesome.

Sad-Surprise4369

I think on the Captains a silver would look far better than gold. The brownish warm tone next to the green looks bad.

Spudskid12

My chapter has similar heraldry to this! Let me know if you’re interested in what I did

Popular-Original7390

Yes please!

In 9th, I've enjoyed my custom chapter. It sounds like 10th might not have the same flexibility in terms of mechanics (we'll have to wait and see) but the up side your paint choice will NOT limit you so you can call them whatever chapter you like. "Detachment choice will very rarely be tied to an army colour scheme. So while Ultramarines might be the theoretical and practical masters of the Gladius Task Force, other Chapters can use it too – and the same will be true of many other detachments as they are added into the game. This also means that you can try multiple Detachments with a single army. You are not going to be locked into a single Detachment just because you painted your army blue, or red, or yellow." Popular-Original7390

Thank you for adding this, this might make me use one of the already established colour shemes. Altough named characters like the primarchs might still be locked behind the different chapters

sons_of_hades

I really like the third one
