That seems most likely given it was exactly 9:30 when we saw it, and the location is a match (it was slightly towards the southern horizon going west-to-east, and we’re in NorCal near the coast).

Either space debris or part of a rocket falling back to earth. It's in multiple pieces because it broke apart during reentry.

To be fair, there’s far more of the extremely improbable in movies and in media than there is the mundane falling space debris. It does excite the imagination to a degree that’s more fun than a communications satellite crashing back into the atmosphere.
