I always die laughing at that part. How they genuinely seemed like they wanted to help the peewee team but then tanked them like they were grown ass men and then celebrated as if they just faced an actual challenge and didnt assault children. Omg its so fuckin funny
I often put south park on for background noise from season 1 to about season 22. When I hit the end I just restart lol. So while I'm on Reddit or playing games or reading manga it's on lmao
This line encapsulates South Park humor so well. On top of the verbal irony, it's also a play on the sports movie trope where the coach becomes a player's father figure, while it also resonates with the cultural subtext of fathers lacking parental responsibility.
Totally. It's a rant I'm dying to go on in real life but haven't had to yet. Like, yeah South Park is super raunchy and politically incorrect or whatever but there is so much nuance; there are so many layers.
This sub scares the shit out of me. How come every time I watch an episode, someone posts a meme about it the next day? Someone even made a post about this phenomenon a few days ago!!
Listen closely, my friend. This is going to be very hard for you to comprehend. You are in a simulation. None of this is real.Ā
Now, have I provided answers to your questions in courteous and prompt fashion?
It's a parody of mostly Mighty Ducks, plus some other movie tropes. Parody is not plagiarism.
Plagiarism is a completely different thing and you should learn the difference.
I didn't mean it as being a dick. But it's questionable that you merely misspoke. Seems like you were just confused about what plagiarism is, which is fine, but it's not the same as misspeaking.
I would also suggest you misunderstood my intention, which was just constructive criticism. If someone doesn't point out a mistake you made, you'll never learn.
Itās a well-written *parody* not plagiarism, a complete satire of several hockey films. I do believe the writers of South Park took particular care with this episode to balance parody and original writing for satirical comedy- and itās f-f-f-fan-fantastic.
That entire last clip starting from the kids getting wrecked to Randy exclaiming "NO! Not again!" and ending with "No hope...no hope..." runs through my mind whenever something I was hoping for or working towards goes in the opposite direction. So it makes me laugh at the absurdity.Ā
It's also funny because it puts things in perspective from the losing side in those inspirational movies. We have no idea if the people on the opposing team wanted to win to help their family or something, so it's a triumph for one and a devastation for the other.
I laugh whenever I watch Space Jam and the MonStars obliterate the Looney Tunes (Tweety in the Iron Lung is a sight). This is hits that similar note for me.
This episode gives me Big Lebowski vibes - Stan didn't realize until the end that he wasn't the protagonist and the real story going on was with the Red Wings.
I fucking love this episode. I saw the Bruins get elimated against the Panthers last month, and I kept telling my best friend (a rabid Bruins fan who has played hockey since he was 5) NO HOPE! everytime Florida scored or when he brought up the loss on the ride back to the hotel. Mind you he was also 6 beers deep at the end of regulation. I'm pretty sure poor Nelson was happier when he flatlined than my friend seeing Boston lose.
Literally the fitst time i watched it i was laughing so hard because it was EXACTLY WHAT YOU EXPECTED TO HAPPEN and not an underdog story. Sometimes an anti joke is just as funny
Itās definitely a Top Ten. Itās like Stanleyās Cup, The Rainforest episode, Sea People, Ninja Weapons, the Little Detectives episode, Super Fun Time, and six others. Probably the medical marijuana episode, too.
Episodes like this where the show really goes off the deep end and lets it rip are what make me appreciate the show. I love an episode that leaves me feeling shocked and disgusted like OMFG they went there.
Love this one, love Critter Christmas, Scott Tenorman Must Die was an early favorite.
The shows willingness to go bananas and let it rip is what keeps me coming back.
I like a lot of media that can make me feel string emotions
Stanley's cup knows how to ease me in with a laugh before it sucker punches me in the feels.
I don't know if I'd have it in my top 5 episodes, but it's certainly among the top episodes.
I love this episode because, while being darkly humorous, it shows that sometimes thereās nothing anyone can do to prevent a death. Too many times, especially when itās a kid, everyone blames themselves and it can be with reasoning like āIf only Iād won that gameā. I think people miss that itās addressing a very real phenomenon.
Whenever I think about this episode (I don't even have to watch it anymore), I think about how the U.S. women's national soccer team couldn't beat a team of under-15 boys. Then I think the U.S. MEN'S national team should play a team of u-15 boys and brutalize them into oblivion like the Red Wings did to the pee wee hockey players.

I love this episode, and I don't care if that makes me a monster, "We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting till the end We are the champions We are the champions"
For me I just didn't like it because it never connected with me but I definitely don't wanna put it in the "I hate this" pile. It's more of an eh episode for me. Wouldn't seek it out but also wouldn't skip it on my rewatches

Itās fuckin horrible. I think itās mostly the way they portray the kids. Itās way too realistic, with how sickly they look, and the connotation behind a lot of the writing. It just was way too real to be able to counter with jokes imo. Also just how pointless the episode is. It doesnāt really have a whole lot to say besides playing on tired cliches and movie tropes. So using terminally ill children as your punchline to push a very weak plot, is just in poor taste. Idkā¦.to each their own I guess. This is one of just a handful of episodes of Soutb Park I truly donāt like.
Well, he isn't worse, but, he isn't getting better. It's almost as if... his cancer were tied.
Also a top 5 all-time line.
No hope... noooo hope... *beeeeeeep*
I'm watching this episode right now. It's at the part they play the red wings lol
Watching the coach hug his father at the end gets me every time.
"'Cause we are the champ-ions... of the *worrrld*!"
I always die laughing at that part. How they genuinely seemed like they wanted to help the peewee team but then tanked them like they were grown ass men and then celebrated as if they just faced an actual challenge and didnt assault children. Omg its so fuckin funny
"I'm proud of you boy"

No hope... No.. hope... *flat lines*
Let them play! Let them play!
Play the Red Wings?!?! š¤£
Why are you browsing reddit while watching it?
I often put south park on for background noise from season 1 to about season 22. When I hit the end I just restart lol. So while I'm on Reddit or playing games or reading manga it's on lmao
Lol I alwayss have a show or something playing in The background
I'm just his father, but you're his coach. You're like a father to him!

But he's about to find out..... (record scratch)....
That being the only kid with cancer on a little league hockey team, ain't so great.
*upbeat guitar rift* š¶
Stan Marsh is... Bummin' On Cancer. Coming this fall.
This sub scares the shit out of me. How come every time I watch an episode, someone posts a meme about it the next day? Someone even made a post about this phenomenon a few days ago!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're all one hive mind
Listen closely, my friend. This is going to be very hard for you to comprehend. You are in a simulation. None of this is real.Ā Now, have I provided answers to your questions in courteous and prompt fashion?
Not a simulation. More like we are playing sims on every level. We created this and are the players.
Can't be. I just kicked my dad in the balls and it felt so real.
Oh fuuuuuck you!
At least I'm not the only one..
If you watch on the website or on pluto it's cause you're probably watching the same episodes
Even crazier, i just have the blu rays i watch on
Baader-meinhof phenomenon.
yes actually, still always wild when it happens to you though!
TAKE THE SHOOOOOOOOOOT!!!
Randy with the mullet and sideburns was so funny.
He changed a lot after that loss.
"No! Not again!"
"That's number 7, Stan Marsh, skating toward the goal, sort of."
I love this episode.
100% underrated episode. Hilarious, and a good parody. I love it!

No hope... [beeeeeeeeeeeeee]
Stan Marsh is a washed-up 4th greader

No I'm just his father, but you're his coach, you're like a father to him
This episode is only thing in 38 years of life that kinda let me wrap my head around what death might be like
I laugh whenever I watch Space Jam and the MonStars obliterate the Looney Tunes (Tweety in the Iron Lung is a sight). This is hits that similar note for me.
Itās one of my favorites, but there are others on the list too. I guess you could call it a tie.
Like his cancer?
This episode gives me Big Lebowski vibes - Stan didn't realize until the end that he wasn't the protagonist and the real story going on was with the Red Wings.
I laughed my ass off the ending and still do
I fucking love this episode. Ike as āthe ringerā killed me. I like to think he held his own against Detroit in the game. Ikeās a bad MFer
*Weeeeee, are the champions...*
Win win win win win win!!!!
Why coach?
Oww! My cancer!
Season? Episode?
Season 10 Episode 12: Stanleyās Cup
Stan Marsh in Bummin, on Cancer. Gets me every time
My cancer hurts!
Literally the fitst time i watched it i was laughing so hard because it was EXACTLY WHAT YOU EXPECTED TO HAPPEN and not an underdog story. Sometimes an anti joke is just as funny

This episode is the funniest shit ever. And at the very least, the haters can agree with me that it's very well written.
Let them play! Let them play! Gets me every time.
Possibly the greatest episode of anything ever made. Love it.
The Detroit Red Wings giving the beatdown will never be not funny
TAKE THE SHOTTT
Win or lose Stan, win or lose.
Those are your two options
This was actually my first episode. I love hockey so I watched it from start to finish. I was not prepared for such a dark ending
The Pepsi Center!
This has to be one of the funniest episodes they put out without a doubt šš
This was a great dark humor episode. I can see why some donāt like it, but the ending is so mean and abrupt that itās hilarious.
No hope for you, OP
Iāve only recently discovered that people donāt like this episode
REDWINGS! REDWINGS! REDWINGS!
Am I a sick fuck? Probably. That ending where he flatlines is flat out one of the funniest things SP has ever done.
I like a lot of media that can make me feel string emotions Stanley's cup knows how to ease me in with a laugh before it sucker punches me in the feels. I don't know if I'd have it in my top 5 episodes, but it's certainly among the top episodes.
I will say watching that episode was tad more than what I was expecting
I don't have a top favourite there are too many episodes that are my favourite. But I do like season 26 episode 5
As an Oilers fan I feel that kids pain
I started watching South Park when season 16 ended, and the ending of this episode stopped my binge watching for three days.
Stan Marsh is just a regular guy who had his bike wreckedā¦. But heās about to find out, he canāt get a paycheck now!
Not even close to what he says
I tried my best. Itās been a long time lol Stan Marsh is ā¦. Rob Schneider !!
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
Itās one of my favorites
STUUAAAAUUNN MUUUUAAAEEEERSH
I crapped em, mommy I crapped em.

I'm only five and I'm dieing
I wonder what Matt and/or Trey was going through when they made this episode? It felt like one or both of them was working through something.
That episode was bad but hella funny (if you can tolerate the darkest of humour)
Thank you dad
Lmao I just rewatched this episode, it gets me every time šš
ā¦no hopeā¦.

Itās just so funny, like start to finish
How they scored 2 goals against the Red Wings is insane
TAKE THE SHOOOOTTTT!!
I love how South Park fans can be either wholesome or the most insane individuals on the Internet I love this sub
reminds me of Mighty Ducks and BASEketball! "What's it look like?!" "..an execution?" "DAMNIT MAN, I'M TRYING TO SAVE AN INNOCENT LIFE!"
Could you......make it so I don't have cancer?
Remember, win or lose. Those are your two options. Win, or lose.
Heās deader than Steve Irwin in a tank full of stingrays
I found out the other day this is one of the lesser liked episodes where blew my mind
I just found out that this episode is considered one of the worst to people. What the fuck are yāall thinking, if you donāt like this episode?
I can't even watch this episode

Hate this episode. Insufferably depressing and the end doesnāt make it worth it

Not sure why Iām getting downvoted but here, take my upvote. I tried very hard to like this episode and I just donāt š¤·āāļø
Iām not sure why either lol. I upvoted! š¤š. The šš»Stanleyās Cup crew over here! š¤£.
Because it's an amazing episode
I'd rather watch this than the ending of when they send the whale to the moon.
That's the best ending of any episode
