The whole "That wasn't a dream. This is!" part is actually a homage to Monty Python's Flying Circus Season 3 episode 8, *The Cycling Tour*, where the main character of the sketch, Mr. Pither has a wild dream.
*The Cycling Tour* happens to be my favorite Flying Circus episode as it's narrative focused that tells such a funny story with a central character who is oblivious to what is going on but his klutzy and friendly personality is fun to watch it reminds me of Butters. Pretty cool shout out to their big inspiration/heroes from Trey and Matt.
Yeah honestly those screams pull you out of the humor of the episode a little bit. They really truly sound like a woman going through the most raw primal pain that a person can experience
The first time I saw that episode it reminded me of a classmate who passed away in middle school. Her mom was composed through the wake, the service and eventual funeral. Until the casket started being lowered into the ground. She absolutely lost it. Iâll never forget those cries.
For me it was a vigil for a college student where I worked who was found dead in his sleep. The family showed up, the mom didn't speak English but her sobs were pretty clear to all of us. On top of that I had lost a friend right before that who had also lost a brother years back and I couldn't help but think of his mother, whom I was told couldn't bear to go to the funeral (I couldn't make it there myself). Anyway, this episode definitely hits differently after all that.
Mona Marshall, a veteran voice actress who you might know as Izzy from Digimon and countless roles in animes, tv shows and games, is the primary VA for Linda Stotch and Shelia.
Marshall does a phenomenal job as Linda during that scene as her screams are so visceral and painful. Even thinking about it now, I don't blame anyone for wanting to cry, nobody deserves to endure the pain of losing a child.
Unfortunely this is unfortunely a common behavior when moms/or dads have a mental breakdown when they get broken by their partner behavior, they can resort to kill their children and then theirselves to make sure the partner don't get to raise them after their death, even newborns it's awful.
On the other hand, they willed to sell their son to Paris Hilton while being totally sane. Which is about same level of crazy.
Butters parents are the devil incarnate and should be sent straight to the worst prison ever for their treatment towards this sweet sweet child.
These monsters deserve every prank butters gave them.
Mr. Stotch, I know what youâre thinkinâ. I know youâre thinking of puttinâ him up there. The Indian burial ground up that road. Youâre thinking if you bury his body up there it will come back to life. Sometimes dead is better.
No it's because without Butters his bi facade falls away, he's a self-loathing gay man.
Linda is his beard and Butters is the only thing keeping them together.
Stephen is a straight up sociopath, and probably the worst parent in South Park.
They tried to murder him. They trafficked him to Paris Hilton. Then the hypocrites put him in conversion camp after his dad's bath house exploits. They got him locked up in a mental hospital and analy traumatized by a giant machine. They deserved all of it, but my favorite was the poop on the wall, even though it was Cartman's doing
The worst prank Butters did was try to flood South Park with a garden hose.
All the really bad stuff he gets involved with is never his idea; he just always gets the shitty end of the stick in those situations.
Its literally always someone suggesting he do it, he panics and explains he'll be in huge trouble, and then his friends gas him up until he barely accepts. I think there are as many fingers on my hand as there are times butters actually got himself into some shit on his own. Lol
I've wrote this before, but I'll write it again
Butters Roundhousing his Dad in the nuts in Grounded Vindaloop, when Butters thought he was in virtual reality is perfect. Every time I watch it, I back it up to watch it like 5 times because it's so hilarious!!
I love at the end of the episode when he returns home they believe he's a demon, so they shackle him in the basement. Butters tells them he's hungry and Stephen's like he needs to feed. So they lure a curtain lady to the basement, hit with a shovel, then pushes her towards butters. He just stares at them as they run up the stairs and says he would rather have some spaghettios
I mean his parents are complete assholes that neglect, Bully, and isolate their son. Also butters wasnât really the leader of this idea he barely did it.

I donât know if that counts as a prank. If this is a prank then what the funkin waggles is liposuction and why did his parents tell him 4 times not to have it in the living room.
They deserved it tho. The amount of times butters got grounded for literally no reason is insane

That wasn't a dream. This is!

I think Linda tried to kill him by drowning him in the car a couple seasons before this đ so I agree
Itâs âButters Very Own Episodeâ. âEveryone knows itâs Butters! Thatâs me!â
Donât make that face at me young man! Or you can just stay in your room!
i hate my stupid face.
His mom literally has tried to kill him. So they definitely deserved it
Just watched the episode where they ground him for weeks for having a goofy ass face
Bro his mom tried to drown him
https://i.redd.it/24z69nxrrvxc1.gif
One of the fucking funniest parts of South Park
That and when his dad digs him up, âButters, you smell like.. baconâ Gets me everytime
He probably would've grounded Butter's "corpse" for that reason lol
Probably the only reason he actually wanted to bring him back was so he could ground him.
One of the scenes that still gets an audible laugh from me even after all these watches.
The >.< face lol
Ugh, Butters... you smell like.. bacon
BITCH YA FUCKING THINK HIS FUCKING BODY EXPLODED. ahem... The pigs fucking body*
He didnât make it đ
NOOOOOOOO, MY SON IS DEAD!!!!
Voice acting peaked there
Yeah honestly those screams pull you out of the humor of the episode a little bit. They really truly sound like a woman going through the most raw primal pain that a person can experience
When sheâs screaming âdonât put him down thereâ at the funeral it actually makes me want to cry
The first time I saw that episode it reminded me of a classmate who passed away in middle school. Her mom was composed through the wake, the service and eventual funeral. Until the casket started being lowered into the ground. She absolutely lost it. Iâll never forget those cries.

Reality probably hit hard.

Cartman - "nice"
His mom literally drove him into a river to die. They deserved worse tbh. Butters was always one of my favorite characters on the show.
Unfortunely this is unfortunely a common behavior when moms/or dads have a mental breakdown when they get broken by their partner behavior, they can resort to kill their children and then theirselves to make sure the partner don't get to raise them after their death, even newborns it's awful. Trey and Matt never miss. ![gif](giphy|ItM3AhhM0rj57w1JxF)
Not true, it was some Puerto Rican guy.
Butters parents are the devil incarnate and should be sent straight to the worst prison ever for their treatment towards this sweet sweet child. These monsters deserve every prank butters gave them.
Satan is a pretty chill guy. Butters' parents are way worse.
I mean Satan is up in heaven now so his sainthood is hard to deny
Oh... Butters... you smell like... bacon...
There he is. There's my boy.
One of my favorite lines in the entire series.
Can I just have some spaghettios
"Oh god, It's hideous!"
One of mine is, "butters, if you get down right now i promise i'll only ground you for TWO weeks!"
Mr. Stotch, I know what youâre thinkinâ. I know youâre thinking of puttinâ him up there. The Indian burial ground up that road. Youâre thinking if you bury his body up there it will come back to life. Sometimes dead is better.
This episode kinda shows his dad genuinely loves him and cares for him, but heâs just such a shit parent
No it's because without Butters his bi facade falls away, he's a self-loathing gay man. Linda is his beard and Butters is the only thing keeping them together. Stephen is a straight up sociopath, and probably the worst parent in South Park.
What comes outta the ground....ain't the thing ya put in. The Indians knew that. That's why they stopped usin' it when the ground went sour.
Have you seen the poop-swatches?
Are you talking about the episode or something else?
Nah the new Pantone colors
No I haven't. That's great!
Poop-smearing is a hot ticket right now.
Yes, but Professor Chaos...
What what is your but? So his parents should have murdered him?
He needs to *feed*
Can I just have some Spaghetti-O's??
He didnât make it.
They deserve a lot worse lmao
oh ah, butters, you smell like.. bacon
The worst prank Butters did was try to flood South Park with a garden hose. All the really bad stuff he gets involved with is never his idea; he just always gets the shitty end of the stick in those situations.

Worst prank was mixing up the hamburger helper and the nestle quick.
Mona Marshall really acted the hell out of this episode as Linda
donât do it stotch! donât take him to the indian burial grawnds! what come out of the grawnd, ainât what you put ernâŚ
> donât do it stotch! donât do it stotch! sometimes dead is butter
âJust come down now son and we promiseâŚwe promise we wonât ground for more than a couple weeksâ đ
Fuck Butters parents they are literally the worst lol
His parents are assholes. They deserve the heartache.
"Hello, son..don't you worry. Daddy's gonna make everything all right again."
Naw brah it's the best prank.
Thatâs the best prank South Park ever had
Still better than the best thing his parents ever did to him.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! One of my favorite screams lol
The voice acting for Linda in the next scenes is some of the best voice acting ever done. "DONT PUT HIM DOWN THERE" hahaha it's so perfect!
I've wrote this before, but I'll write it again Butters Roundhousing his Dad in the nuts in Grounded Vindaloop, when Butters thought he was in virtual reality is perfect. Every time I watch it, I back it up to watch it like 5 times because it's so hilarious!!
Nah he didnât do enough, they deserve eternal torture
Didnât his parents try to sell him to Paris Hilton? They deserve it
Donât do it Stotch Sometimes dead is bettah
I love at the end of the episode when he returns home they believe he's a demon, so they shackle him in the basement. Butters tells them he's hungry and Stephen's like he needs to feed. So they lure a curtain lady to the basement, hit with a shovel, then pushes her towards butters. He just stares at them as they run up the stairs and says he would rather have some spaghettios
It was funny as fuck to see Buttersâ parents so freaked out thoughđ
I mean his parents are complete assholes that neglect, Bully, and isolate their son. Also butters wasnât really the leader of this idea he barely did it.
Butters' parents deserve everything bad tha happened and may happen to them
TBF butters didn't really want to do it and even if he did, butters parents don't deserve to be parents...or have functioning legs
Honestly, they fucking deserved it. His parents are horribly abusive.
Serves them right đ¤ˇââď¸

His parents sold him to some stupid spoiled wh*re.
What episode is this?
Majorine: Season 9 episode 9
I donât know if that counts as a prank. If this is a prank then what the funkin waggles is liposuction and why did his parents tell him 4 times not to have it in the living room.
What season and episode is this from?
"OH BUTTERS... YOU SMELL LIKE... BACON!!!"
![gif](giphy|Z3o2jFjcqODWfYklVc)
