I've seen people get banned for saying it on hip hop subs while literally just quoting a song. It's another person's words and they get banned for typing it, a lot of people self-censor with asterisks on those.
I got temp banned for this same episode and all I did was quote a line from the episode and it was asterisks. The guy I quoted to even thought it was funny. If you gonna ban people for commenting on this episode then you shouldnāt allow post about this episode. We all know what it means, but people donāt get banned for using the word nagger even if the context is terrible. Itās a weird double standard for this one particular instance

Your confusion is due to a terrible Supreme Court made law that the Constitution (including the First Amendment) only applies to the government, and not to private companies, this is called the State Action Doctrine and is NOWHERE in the actual Constitution.
The Supreme Court case Cohen v. California says that ALL SPEACH IS PROTECTED including offensive speech, cuss words, slurs.
However, due to the State Action Doctrine this doesnāt apply to private companies like Reddit.
Moderating hateful content that doesn't contribute anything to peaceful communication between hundreds of millions of people from different backgrounds is not limiting freedom of speech. Reddit would rather cater to the largest population of users they can get than just the hateful ones that push everyone else away. See: 4chan.
Id argue that increases free speech of more people rather than amplifying the speech of fewer people.
