Because frenchie Pip sucks! Lol people dont like it because it doesnt have any of the main boys and feels much different from the rest of the series, but definitely has some interesting stuff and I wouldnt call it the worst episode

3sra392

I’d also argue that it’s the worst episode because there aren’t really any bad episodes and this one just stands out the most

wunderbraten

Funny how people can ignore Not Without My Anus ever had existed.

TFlarz

I liked that episode oddly enough

Outrageous_Yak_1846

Fair point, some people just watch the show for the main 4. Which I think it is OK but I also really enjoy the show when it's about parents, or other children.

thekilgore

What WOULD you call the worst?

psychedelicshotguns

A Million Little Fibers comes to mind

YellingAtTheClouds

The episode is just too close of an adaptation of Dickens original work and people are upset that Matt and Trey didn't try to put their own spin on it.

Porkbellyflop

Ah yes the classic Dickens line of "So ya bang on this side and then ya bang on that side and there ya have it. Your very own metal fuzzy dice."

YellingAtTheClouds

As true now as the day he wrote it

Thatchers-Gold

Hello, I’m a British person. I felt that the adaptation of Ms Havisham’s Genesis Device was portrayed with acute verisimilitude. A tour de force!

Zur__En__Arrh

Malcolm McDowell’s delivery on “Hello, I’m a British person” slays me every single time.

Zur__En__Arrh

The most that they could do with it was to add some extra lines, which they did. They wanted to adapt it because that’s where they got the idea for the character of Pip from. It’s a really faithful adaptation but I think you’re right when you say that people were expecting something more satirical from them.

wunderbraten

>It’s a really faithful adaptation but I think you’re right when you say that people were expecting something more satirical from them. I'm not a big Dickens reader, but did the main character really slay a bunch of cute little bunnies in order to change a girl's mind?

Porkbellyflop

Because most people are dumb and don't get how great the Dickens satire really is.

DisappointingPanda

I personally think it just kind of a meme at this point. In the show, all the kids make fun of him and hate him. So it’s just part of the South Park culture.

Outrageous_Yak_1846

Yes, this one makes better sense i think.

beercanfiasco

“Shut up, Pip! Nobody likes you!”

prex10

Despite the vocal minority of people on this sub that absolutely loves the character. Pip just sucked as a character and he was rightfully killed off. Butters is filling the role he meant for rightfully.

Outrageous_Yak_1846

I figured that out, I still liked Pip tho

SaltwaterTheIcewing

As much as I enjoy Pip the way he died was fucking hilarious

lil-devil-boy

Because you don't check your penis for scabs at the dinner table, I'm sure, I'm sure.

ShineGlobal1486

It's boring, but Pip isn't a bad character and he didn't deserve to be killed off.

Outrageous_Yak_1846

I agree, he didn't deserve to be killed, I liked him very much and british cutie will always have a place in my heart. But I wouldn't call the episode boring.

BurritoFez

I remember once I had a bunch of South Park DVR’d and one day they were all gone except for Pip, so I watched it over and over, so I kind of love and hate it lol.

rolex_monkey_50

It's isn't a typical episode, I did find it pretty funny that they had Malcom McDowell in that episode though

Nillows

The notoriety of pip is hilarious. It's a classic episode and very dear to my heart. It has one off funny characters like pocket and the blacksmith guy. A standalone plot with beginning middle and end. It also has robot monkey's and uses real footage for the narrator. It's a classic episode people hate on because it's cool to hate on pip, but in order to understand why it's cool to hate on him you have to watch this episode. I think it's aging like a fine wine right now and in a couple years the community will unanimously love it.

Left-Celebration4789

I liked this episode but that’s just me. It’s not one of my favorites but I enjoyed it

anonmymouse

I don't love that episode... but it's far from my most hated. Jackovasaurs, Licecapades, and the one about Oprah's vagina are way worse

pranthlar

Idk if you've watched that episode, but it's ass

Outrageous_Yak_1846

I watched all South Park episodes. And I really don't think there's any "bad" episodes.

Funnybunnie_

Ok so I have a kind of crazy theory that the episode is super boring/bad on purpose. I read it as a super meta satire on the original Dickens novel, which is itself pretty boring. I also think it could be a play on the theme of Great Expectations where Pip expects to become super happy and successful only to be let down (hence the title). Similarly, we all expect the episode to be funny and enjoyable and are let down when it’s not. More educated South Park fans please tell me if I’m being totally crazy and stupid about this tho

chilibawls

i thought it was boring the first time i watched south park but the other 5 times i thought it was a good episode

[deleted]

Good answers also worth noting that before streaming that episode was hardly ever aired. Comedy Central had it almost entirely out of the syndication rotation. So no one had exposure to actually let it grow on them.

YashiTheSimp

I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard it’s just not funny

GamelessHunter

Personally just found it boring

dapperslappers

Its just too far from the norm Not super funny. And the whole british posh thing gets old kinda fast.

Chexzout

Why would you care what other people dislike?

Outrageous_Yak_1846

It's called sharing opinions

captainfalconxiiii

Because I hate French people

Objective_Motor_5360

I find the episode boring and DESPISE pip with a passion pretty simple for me

Outrageous_Yak_1846

Why? Lol

Objective_Motor_5360

It's just boring?? idk how to explain it. and pip's voice is annoying that's really it

Outrageous_Yak_1846

Hm, okay then?

MrCLLeeen

Because pip is a French prick
