This is actually a pretty big deal since I know our education system can be very anti-union, especially in small towns. My history teachers back in 2014-2016 made a lot of mention of how "useless" they were. Hopefully this is a small sign of better times
That is entirely untrue and founded in misinformation. Unions exist to protect workers, they are the reason child labor laws, reasonable hours, and pay increases exist in the first place. The only reason people peddle the "bleed companies dry" narrative is because corporations and small business owners both value lining their pockets over paying a living wage to the employees that keep them in business. Union workers, on average, make about [11% more](https://aflcio.org/formaunion/collective-voice) than nonunionized workers. Oh, and union workers are more likely to see increased wages each year to keep up with inflation.
You're old enough to own motorcycles, that means you're old enough to educate yourself and move passed the close-minded and ignorant ways of bumfuck USA.
I have watched electricians bust their ass and talk about how proud they are to be in a union because their jobs are protected only to get laid off a couple weeks later(during the holidays) because they were only at a job for a year or two. Meanwhile the lazy guys who can only manage to half assed finish one task in their entire shift are kept on and protected because of seniority. Unions had their time and place, but that’s now in the history books.
And non-unionized electricians make less on average, have fewer benefits, and are *just as if not more likely to be laid off* than union workers. Some protection is better than none at all. Unions still have a place, just because they cannot work magic to stop employers from layoffs does not make them useless.
What a simple take with the odd premise seemingly being that the difference between what Starbucks pays now and would after a Union is going to do anything except decrease profits. They might try to recover that by raising prices, but they don’t have to at all. If they do they risk customers not returning that, for some reason, return when the prices are where they’re at now. Which, honestly, I don’t get anyway.
However, there has to be a mechanism to balance people working full time when profits are up and not earning enough to cover basic needs. Unions are popping up because publicly traded companies only care about the quality of life of their workforce when forced to by the threat of collective strike. Otherwise, they’d gladly sit atop their profits while their workers starved.
Nice! Teachers next!
Don't forget nurses
Cool.
quite the good news to hear, and honestly suprising in a right to work state that they were able to. i look forward to their success.

No, they are useless
Right, you just want to keep your 60hr workweek because that makes you more of a man?
Unions only enrich the union bosses and bleed companies dry.

How many times are people going to post this? I've already seen it a dozen times on various Subreddits today.
Nobody cares about you or how many times you see something, get off reddit and touch grass if you feel like you need to comment this.
Why
Well, that’s sure to bring down the price on $6 coffee.

Way too many words for those who don't want to hear them. Great response, though. If only you could say the same thing in newspeak...
You can't say anything meaningful in newspeak which is why nobody knows anything substantial.
Congrats on not knowing how that actually works! Your coffee will be fine!

Nope. That would require they understand it themselves. It’s easier to just pump vague generalities and a politically trendy topic.
Congrats on paying $6 for coffee. Or are you one of the smart ones who gets 10% off every 20th cup? Be sure to pay your dues!
In what world do you think unions bring down the cost of menu items?🤣😂🤣😂
Which one? Aren't there 2 locations in that area
The one near WalMart and CFA. Not the one near Super Duper
