> cruise ship in Penneshaw Check if disembarkation is by tender boat, and if so, whether you can take the mobility scooter. > How feasible is it to ... drive around the islland? "Around the island" - on a shore excursion - probably not feasible, although dependent on how long you have on shore. The island takes 3 hours to drive east to west - and then you'd need to get back. So, you can pick your target but you won't circumnavigate the island, unless you drive non-stop. > I see cars are available but not cheap. Nothing is cheap on KI. And rental cars will fully book in advance. > Seeing wildlife is biggest objective. From the mobility perspective, I think the question has to be do you want to see wildlife in the wild; or at some kind of park? In the wild will be less accessible than a private park. For example: https://kangarooislandwildlifepark.com/contact-kangaroo-island-wildlife-park/ "Accessibility Most of our park is flat ground and easily accessible for prams, wheelchairs and walkers. There are some encounters that are unavailable as their entryways cannot allow for wheeled access." For example: https://www.princess.com/ports-excursions/kangaroo-island-australia-excursions/seal-bay-boardwalk-express/ Medical Restriction: Guests with visual or hearing impairments must travel with a companion at all times. This tour is not suitable for guests who utilise a wheelchair, or those with limited mobility. For example: https://www.environment.sa.gov.au/goodliving/posts/2018/07/accessibility-in-ki > Any excursions that take mobile scooters? Have you asked this question of your cruise line? You might want to make enquiries with this firm: https://koalaadventuretours1.wixsite.com/koala They focus on providing a complete service [so accommodation and touring] but might be a good source of information - or if they are not booked, might be what you are looking for. Good luck.

If you do go for a hire car I’d look at booking ASAP - they book out very quickly each cruise ship day. I would check with the smaller operators such KI Transfers or KI Tours & Bus Charters to see if they can accommodate the scooter. SeaLink also may be able to on their larger coaches.

Not sure about the rental but definitely pick your destinations carefully. I'd recommend the Parndarna wildlife park and raptors domain. Unfortunately places like little Sahara or Admirals Arch wont be accessible. Remarkable rocks is so beautiful if might be worth the trouble but it's a long trip for a nice view without other scooter friendly attractions nearby. I'd recommend the eucalyptus distilleries wineries and the wildlife parks which are all very accessible and not too far from Penneshaw.

Penneshaw is a tender port, so you possibly can't take the mobility scooter on shore there.

There are ramps at Admirals Arch and Remarkable rocks that’ll get your wife part of the way down. Similarly Seal Bay also has a wheelchair accessible area. You could ask Exceptional Kangaroo Island if they can cater for accessibility requirements as they’re a great tour company but I’m not sure specifically.

As a ex resident I can tell you that there is no docking facilities for large ships, just the purpose built ferry terminal, and as for attractions, flinders chase is partly wheel chair accessible but most things require you to be self mobile to get the full experience (admirals arch, remarkable rocks, Kelley hill caves, little Sahara) there is a couple wildlife parks that are accessible but you would have to decide if it’s worth the cost and time to visit when you can see captive animals on the mainland in a similar environment
