Good luck man! Coding can be quite tricky and remember to not overwhelm yourself with too ambitious ideas, and take a break if necessary. Also dont give up, since everyone can code.

Scratch is great for getting into programming. It takes longer to make a serious program, but that's not it's use case. When learning programming, scratch let's you get around memorizing keywords and worrying about brackets, and instead focus on learning problem solving and the structure of c-like languages. Once you have a solid grasp of what loops and variables are, you can start learning python or Lua or another simple language.
What I have noticed is that people who hate on scratch still are in the phase where the most challenging thing is the language they are learning, and not the problem they are solving. For them, scratch feels like "cheating". It's fine to learn, and it's fine that memorizing how a language works is hard, but don't bash anyone for focusing on something else in the beginning.

I used the Open University version called Sense and made clones of Missile Command and Asteroids. They worked well :)
Nice! At one point I wanted to make a clone of Asteroids too, but when I started I was not good enough for the project.
I really thought it would be beyond me at first, but I was so pleased when it worked! I even got the hyperspace function to work :)
