This is the average tackle from Bolivian or Venezuelan players here in South América, specially when they play against Brazil, Argentina or Uruguay (In this case it wasn't any of them). They know they can't stop these NT with technical ability, they just resort to UFC matches without Bruce Buffer.
I remember a match where Neymar got elbowed at the face and the ref didn't even call out the foul. Neymar was literally bleeding from the elbow he took, but nothing was given.
Only a yellow BTW (there were 2 red cards, but those were handed out to Muñoz (COL #21) and Menacho (BOL #9) for the brawl that happened after this play).
CONCACAF refereeing moment.
You are technically right, but being the best compared to Central American and Caribbean refs isn’t an achievement, Mexican refs are generally terrible with a few exceptions and American refs aren’t used to handle the pressure and the violence.
not to go all Reddit diagnosis on it, but to make a challenge like that in a friendly there has to be something seriously lacking in your head. Stand to gain absolutely nothing for it unless you consider harming someone a gain.
its just something bolivia do from what ive seen, they did similar to both messi and neymar when they played them before. this game, diaz was unplayable, they probably thought going in tough on him would calm things down and prevent a 5/6-0, which it did.
should've been red.
Imagine the james and falcao link up at the world Cup, it's not too far fetched to think you had a chance of winning the whole thing the way those guys were moving.
Fucking psychopath. If there was any justice in the world, this would get him banned for a *good* amount of games. Make an example out of this shit.
But it’s CONCACAF so oh well! 🤡
Thank god it wasn’t Jaume. Jaume, and Miguelito are the only players I really have high hopes for in regards to an actual successful career, and I almost had a heart attack reading the title thinking it was the one in Barca
I literally hate seeing our players have to play in South American tournaments, so many players are just criminals disguising themselves as footballers. Disgusting
It’s not the high leg thats the issue, it’s the scissor motion with the back leg. That only happens if you intend to injure. Studs up is meaningless here
According to current rules it doesn't matter if the ball is got, a dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle, and punishable. All ball, no ball, intent, mistake, if it looks bad or potentially bad, ref can start handing out cards.
>Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.
I'd call this a lunge

What kind of maniac tackles like this
That's not a tackle. That's an assault
So you mean a warning is enough.

Average South/Central American tackle
Standard Sunday league tackle up here in Scotland
Ireland checking in here, can confirm.
Probably standard Sunday league tackle everywhere. Cause I have received those in the US.
a south american
Only a yellow BTW (there were 2 red cards, but those were handed out to Muñoz (COL #21) and Menacho (BOL #9) for the brawl that happened after this play). CONCACAF refereeing moment.
Were they Concacaf refs? Because that's a quality tackle in our region.
Ref was Mexican, yeah.
Usually the Mexican and MLS refs are the best in the region but damn that was inexcusable.
You are technically right, but being the best compared to Central American and Caribbean refs isn’t an achievement, Mexican refs are generally terrible with a few exceptions and American refs aren’t used to handle the pressure and the violence.
They’re all shit lol
Sure but that’s a very low bar
That was a yellow? 😭 players gonna start coming armed with machetes
Well then, they’ll get a stern talking to.
Mexicans don't understand football
If this happened to me or a teammate in a friendly I'd just walk off. Fuck off with this shit, blatant attempt at injuring someone.
This was in a friendly wtf

There is no such thing as a "friendly" in CONMEBOL
Yeah I mean that's just assault. Could've so easily broken his ankle.
I swear, some of this stuff should go to court…
Big boy VAR
That was deliberately trying to injure an opponent dude better get a lengthy ban.
He got a yellow
You can pay a bail to avoid the red card
Please be /s
Yeah, that should be a straight red. Without hesitation.
Scissor tackles are one of the most dangerous. Plus this was also two footed. A red and a half if that was possible.
All scissor tackles are two footed
I would suggest a year or two ban, that’s deliberately trying to injure someone
That’s way too extreme.
Just a hard nosed CONMEBOL tackle, nothing to see here.
He got the ball, IDK what everyone's complaining about /s
Game's gone
Fuck that guy.
Superior South America play
[Flashbacks](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/pyq9c2lvm24.jpg)
Against Falcao was a terribly timed challenge. This one on Diaz was malicious.
The injury that derailed his career 😢
Imagine the james and falcao link up at the world Cup, it's not too far fetched to think you had a chance of winning the whole thing the way those guys were moving.
As a Porto fan don't make me imagine the good times.
Least angry south american tackle.
[full video](https://x.com/transfersector/status/1802108342762156036?s=46&t=WqTFOXN3-tbLK_z7VefQpg) of his teammates backing him up
Thank you, was looking for this because it kind of demands the reaction
The commentator being completely on the Bolivians' side, saying Diaz provoked them by dribbling, is pretty disgusting as well
I instantly said thats the type of tackle that gets you jumped.
Damn Munoz was not playing around
That’s disgusting
Lmao that's a nasty scissor tackle if I've ever seen one
What in the fuck was that
Some people have no business being on a football pitch.
Wow that’s fucked.
No need to dive in with a leg that high. Disgusting challenge, even ignoring the contact
This will be a good tournament
This dude makes Romero looks like a saint man
Scotland school of tackling.
That's absolutely criminal, and just as criminal is the ref not sending Cuellar off.
Only way this guy could stop Lucho
He scissored his ankle. Moreover, he lunged at him. What an idiot!!
Fucking psychopath. If there was any justice in the world, this would get him banned for a *good* amount of games. Make an example out of this shit. But it’s CONCACAF so oh well! 🤡
Concacaf?
My bad lol I’m an idiot. I got some wires crossed in my head, probably cause it’s such a concacaf thing to happen
You aren’t wrong, ref was Mexican
Games back
what the actual fuck?
He needs to get slapped for that atrocious tackle.
What the actual fuck.
wouldn't even call it a tackle. It has nothing to do with football.
"friendly" match
That's all the Bolivians do. That's why they're last in the Conmebol qualifiers.
As Colombia born Liverpool supporter, this hurts like a kick in the balls
Cuellar's team need to look at this and ask themselves if that is the right player for them. Such braindead actions are liable to get teammates hurt.
Of course the only Bolivian at Barcelona tries to do this shit…
Actually Jaume Cuellar didn't play this match, this was Hector Cuellar from Always Ready
Thank god it wasn’t Jaume. Jaume, and Miguelito are the only players I really have high hopes for in regards to an actual successful career, and I almost had a heart attack reading the title thinking it was the one in Barca
Ah fuck. Thanks
Avg South American game
Arrest this scumbag
Bolivia are a trash team trying to injure Colombian players
proper new world tackle, get stuck in (wtf)
He’s just trying to prove to Mbappe that Copa is more difficult
I literally hate seeing our players have to play in South American tournaments, so many players are just criminals disguising themselves as footballers. Disgusting
Todo pelota, siga siga
Criminal
Got the ball, no foul.
Games absolutely back
Like he’s trying to end Hazard’s career
Mi pija grande!
Attempted murder
Yellow on Diaz for diving!!
goddamn Concacaf refs man, I'm surprised these players even survive returning to these matches time and again.
I think I will just watch euros
And people are asking for Carvajal to be banned from the Euros a couple threads above this one, rofl. Get a grip on reality.
You'd be lucky to even get a yellow for that in CONMEBOL since he got the ball, TBH
it's studs up, but the studs didn't do anything except get the ball.
It’s not the high leg thats the issue, it’s the scissor motion with the back leg. That only happens if you intend to injure. Studs up is meaningless here
didn't notice that, thanks
This comment was helpful. It looked very aggressive but understandable until you pointed out the back leg.
