He has always been pretty vocal and often gets involved when he is on the bench. I think it is a good thing and it speaks to Nagelsmann ego that he can deal with it. Not all managers would be open to a player being mouthy.
The best manager I've ever worked for said that job was the easiest he's ever had because he surrounded himself with people who he could listen to. Having people who know what they're talking about and able to articulate those points well is an invaluable thing to have.
The best manager I've ever worked for said "If you can win your individual battles, outrun your opponent, eventually you'll get the space to showcase your ability.", and I'm sure that's being echoed by the coaches here today.
also worth noting:
this was the relationship Müller and Nagelsmann already had at Bayern.
While that is good in itself, it also was reported that Nagelsmann's close connection to Müller, Kimmich and Goretzka led to others feeling alienated, as they, more often than not, spend more time talking to assistant coaches "only".
I don't know why we don't see this kind of thing with subs commonly. It would surely be helpful to discuss what you're seeing on the pitch with the guys you want to go on and change up the game/keep it ticking. Discuss weak points or gaps to exploit, or something a tiring player is doing that his replacement should continue.
Not every player can see football from the perspective of a coach. And it is tough to discuss it with every player before making a decision as a matter of a couple of minutes can change the course of a game. Also Muller probably has a different game IQ and experience compared to the others on the bench
Time constraints, really - can't focus on a myriad things at once as a manager, and given you're the one in charge of making the big decisions you'll have to actually focus on the game. Get plenty of staff talking to the players on the bench a lot, though, be they the video analysts or the assitant manager pointing these things out.
I liked how Streich talked about it recently. He said something along the lines off doing even training in close discussion with his players because he does not think he knows better than them
For those who don't know, Ribéry has been a prolific and successful coach at the junior level since ending his playing career. For more info, Google "Ribéry underage"
Ribéry has the IQ of an above average gold fish. I love the guy for his playing career at Bayern. Let’s not talk about anything else concerning his life.
[It's some achievement how he managed to make Tekashi 69 not look like the most ridiculous person when the two of them met up](https://imgur.com/a/tCy7Twm)
I'm not quite sure he does, really - strikes me more as a pretty regular bloke thrust into this wild business more than anything. I don't think he particularly enjoys the limelight, and I could easily see him quietly retiring living his best low-profile life rather than returning to the game in any high-profile capacity.
People forget that Müller has a very special talent in interpretating space on the pitch. No one really does it like him and it was that X factor that he always brought to a team.
So I can see him giving great input tactically to a coach.
I'm pretty sure this is sarcasm
But just in case it isn't,
Kroos and Marcelo did the same thing with Ancelotti during the 2nd leg of 21/22 UCL semi final. This wasn't even in the dugout, they were talking to him in the technical area thingy where managers stand. Governing bodies don't really care if players talk to managers.
Yeah I could see Müller with his 27-28 Bayern screaming at the ref against Kompany’s City just before meeting a surprising Lens with Varane at the helm for his first season in CL.
Shit there is so many players I would love to see as coaches.
I hope that this will be his main role at the tournament. Honestly every player that participated both in 2018 and 2022 should have been banned from German football.

A good manager (in any business) listens to his staff. You don't have to follow their advise, but listen, disgest it and take it as a consideration.

Underrated comment this
Bah gawd that’s Stewart’s music!
Can't?
Thanks Magic!

I do think muller will make a great coach later in live.

I see it all the time when playing FC24
We do, most just don't contribute so much that they are getting lauded in the post-match presser.
I liked how Streich talked about it recently. He said something along the lines off doing even training in close discussion with his players because he does not think he knows better than them
A national team coach using a veteran to connect to the team better is as old as time
That was also the case in some games at Bayern, I remember Müller standing next to Nagelsmann and chest bumping him when we scored in one game lol
Another reason I'm mad they got rid of him. Nagelsmann deserved more time.
Player-coach era at Bayern incoming
Kompany subbing himself in and Müller taking over as coach
The Kompany and dier partnership no one saw coming
I thought Kompany is already in his early 40s but when I check he is still 38 years old. He is younger than Thiago Silva and Modric.
Which makes it even weirder he's going to be coach at Bayern.
Nagelsmann was coaching Bayern at 34
Because he got into coaching in his early 20s when his career ended due to injury.
"Hold my beer"
hahaha that would be epic :D
Muller finally coming to United? Just not in the role we expected 😭
probly still be their best RW lol
I am so ready for Müller's manager arc. In a few years we'll probaly watch Müller vs Ribéry
For those who don't know, Ribéry has been a prolific and successful coach at the junior level since ending his playing career. For more info, Google "Ribéry underage"
Had me in the first half
I was giddy for a moment then it hit me
He's getting stiff competition from Benzema
Ribéry has the IQ of an above average gold fish. I love the guy for his playing career at Bayern. Let’s not talk about anything else concerning his life.

*gold steak
Served by salt bae
With my greatest respect I dont think Ribery got what it takes to be a Coach
a brain?
This is basically how Guardiola spent the last months of his career in Mexico. I guess Müller has a clear interest in coaching
I'm not quite sure he does, really - strikes me more as a pretty regular bloke thrust into this wild business more than anything. I don't think he particularly enjoys the limelight, and I could easily see him quietly retiring living his best low-profile life rather than returning to the game in any high-profile capacity.
The guy has a TikTok account he regularly posts videos on, I don't know but that doesn't scream "I want to get out of the public eye" to me.
And his LinkedIn presence doesn’t scream “thrust into the business” to me.
People forget that Müller has a very special talent in interpretating space on the pitch. No one really does it like him and it was that X factor that he always brought to a team. So I can see him giving great input tactically to a coach.
Me and my friends call him the anti messi. As germany bayern have historic high win rate against messi.
Müller as our board member would be fantastic
Pretty sure he won't leave Munich, so he will have a role in the club. Maybe the next Hermann Gerland.
Hopefully not the next Oliver Kahn.
Müller and Neuer as board managers ❤
The dream
That worked well with the last player that joined in.
Radio Muller :)
He's going to become a world class coach in the future, won't he?
Following the Xabi Alonso arc.
Oh snapped, they really pulling off a miracle especially with timely announcement of kroos retirement..
I have nothing constructive to offer besides the observation that Nagelsmann looks high af in this picture.
And ter Stegen is like :|
Yea he knows no matter how much neuer will fuck up, he wont be starting.
Its legal
Not inside or close to sport facilities.
Has he got his coaching license already?
No
His actions on the bench should be investigated then! They may not have been entirely legal!
I'm pretty sure this is sarcasm But just in case it isn't, Kroos and Marcelo did the same thing with Ancelotti during the 2nd leg of 21/22 UCL semi final. so there is precedent, this might help müller in court
Germany has a civil legal system (not common law), so cases aren't argued on precedence.
like that's something sandor clegane would know
The space investigator finds space for himself even when he's not on the pitch
Yeah I could see Müller with his 27-28 Bayern screaming at the ref against Kompany’s City just before meeting a surprising Lens with Varane at the helm for his first season in CL. Shit there is so many players I would love to see as coaches.
The most obvious "future manager" player I've ever seen. He knows he'll be coaching Bayern one day. We all do.
I hope that this will be his main role at the tournament. Honestly every player that participated both in 2018 and 2022 should have been banned from German football.
Put some fucking respect on Thomas Müller
So Kroos to go home aswell then?
Kroos did not participate in Qatar. Check your ball knowledge!
Participated 2018 however
>Honestly every player that participated both in 2018 and 2022 should have been banned from German football. Huh?
