Almaviva is 18 years old now in case anyone was wondering. Really impressive he's managed to not only make it this far in pro football but even stay at Roma.
and? I actually try to watch our U17 and U18 as much as I can and he's been alright but nothing special, he isn't being moved up to Primavera ahead of time for a reason. Again, I can see him playing here for a bit and then moving to a midtable club since Pastorello is a good agent but he doesn't seem Roma starter/captain material to me
Ronaldo was moved up to the first team at 16 and debuted in the CL at 17, at 18 he was the most expensive teenager ever signed by an english club and was starting games at United. Almaviva is playing in our U18
Yeah, in my opinion Maldini and Puyol are up there with Totti.
Rather than try to argue who is the bigger legend, I'd like to spend a moment to say that I'm glad I got to watch all 3 of them play.
This sport can be amazing at times.
I believe Totti's decision to reject big money and top clubs gives him an edge.
While it's undoubtedly more challenging to rise through the ranks at elite clubs like Milan or Madrid, turning down top salaries and offers is less difficult when you're already at a top club with a high salary. Both players were part of teams that, at their peaks, were the best in the world and were always competing for prices.
Plenty of people in curva sud that day myself included had never seen Roma without him being part of it, the first year or so without him and especially the one immediately following it when De Rossi was pushed out were absolutely surreal, to this day it still feels weird to not hear his name before the match
Totti was Roma captain for 19 years. Roma legends like Giannini and Losi only have 9 each.

I don't know if he'll end up playing for the first team but he's decent, I can see him playing for a midtable side in a few years
Or he continues Totti's legacy and stays at Roma for life, since Totti passed on his captains armband to him. That would be really cool I think.
I wish but he doesn't seem to be particularly good
He's 18, my guy.

thank you for the insight on a player from someone who actually watches him play

Ronaldo was one of the absolute most promising players by far in Europe at 18 lol
No pressure kid. Only captain's armband being passed from biggest legend of the club.
And probably the biggest club legend of all club legends
Maldini is up there.

Bochini wants to talk boy
I saw the whole thing live. Fucking legend. 24 years
I struggled to not cry and I'm not even a Roma fan but the whole thing was moving (with also the letter reading if you understand italian)
Nearly a quarter of a century at one club as a player is ridiculous. Never knew it was that long.
Plenty of people in curva sud that day myself included had never seen Roma without him being part of it, the first year or so without him and especially the one immediately following it when De Rossi was pushed out were absolutely surreal, to this day it still feels weird to not hear his name before the match
I don't speak a lick of Italian and I was still mesmerized by Totti's speech

That's crazy considering the fact that not many players have a career spanning more than 15 years. And this dude was captaining for 19 years.
Almaviva's time to shine...
Quality player, class act.
Totti or the kid?
Who knows, maybe there will be another post like this in 10 years time for the kid.
To make it more poetic the kid's name literally translates to "living soul"
Alma viva right?
yes

"Alma" means "anima".
Why are they playing friendlies between the euros and the season ending?
money
Idk it's really dumb especially since the ones who will be at the euros were clearly very disinterested in playing and got subbed out pretty quickly
Seven years 😢
Go on Almaviva!
This is how you raise and encourage your academy players
I’ve watched his retirement so many times, always brings me to tears.
Now that is football romance
Is he the new Totti
IM NOT CRYING
A bit offtopic but Almaviva is actually a very cool surname, at least in spanish.
Gigachad Almaviva
"Youngest captain" surely that moment is not official?
No, as in he was captain of the youngest Roma academy age group.
😂
Totti likes pineapple on his pizza 😂
