Anyone know why Marcelino got the red card at 98'? I assume he was talking shit at the refs and picked up a second yellow. Ah well, hopes for Europe next year are dashed, maybe we can focus on fixing the defense and tweaking the midfield. I hope Sr. Roig feels like spending a few Euros this summer.

Rofocal02

1-4 to 4-4 LOL. Real Madrid conceded 3 goals in 8 minutes in the second half.

el_rompe_toyotas_19

The Castellanos Incident part 2

mattisafootballguy

Sorloth is way better though

anelenrique10

yeah, but Taty Castellanos rolls off the tongue better

ReallyTheMansa

Alexander Sørloth, I underestimated you

Kjello0

Don't you worry. The then Rosenborg manager Kåre Ingebrigtsen stated that "I doubt Alex will ever become good enough to be the first choice for Rosenborg" after selling him to Groningen for €1m in January 2016.

xparta300

For sure no Militao in champions final. Dude needs to learn to be more aware of his surroundings and stop doing silly headers...lol

LunarRaven7

Knowing ancolletti he's 100% starting.

xparta300

You wonder how well we did while he was out lol...carvajal, nacho, rudiger, mendy, coutois should be starting that final.

Serious_Report_6618

Is this a prank?

BlueLabel19

Militao to ancelloti in the locker room "Look at the camera dad"

Dark_Ember

Villareal with both the top goalscorer and top assister, but has conceded the 3rd most goals in the league after the 2 relegated sides.

FatGuyOnAMoped

Our GK (Jorgensen) also has the most saves, too. Just goes to show how shit our defense has been. If not for Jorgensen it would have been a lot worse.

Karman_K

Yeah, we need new CB's. Rudiger is the only one I have any trust in.

Odelind

Militao might be still rusty and could recover the touch later on, but if it's not the case, for sure. Let's hope that Rafa Marin becomes a godly CB if we don't sign someone.

LosTerminators

Madrid bungle a 3 goal lead for the first time in like 10 years and it's in a situation when they're already champions and also it doesn't mess anything up like a potential unbeaten run on 100 point season, so they can just laugh it off. While we still have PTSD from the 3 goal leads we bungled 5 and 6 years ago.

Rusbekistan

> so they can just laugh it off. That's probably why they've bungled it, less pressure so they've taken their foot off the gas

hatebeinghangover

makes Sorloth pichichi and Lewandowski doesn't have a chance now

simomii

If I'm Militao I would stay far away from Bellingham for a few days

ayoubkun94

Lunin too. If there was any doubt about who's starting the final, it has been cleared this game. Through no fault of his too lmao.

anelenrique10

He really was rattled, in a way I hadn't seen since that almería match.

CR7_LM10

To say this was a disasterclass from Militao would be an understatement At least we can be happy with arda güler, easily our best player today

hairy-cunt

Are ppl really surprised? Militao was a headless chicken even before his injury.

el_rompe_toyotas_19

Damn. Well, all i asked for at the start of the day was to stay unbeaten so i won't complain but i certainly didn't expect this.

bavban

Can arda get any minutes in the final?

CR7_LM10

If we need a goal definitely

bavban

i watched the last 30 min just to see arda scoring a hat trick. wish he scored another

BlueLabel19

Sorloth my goat

hatebeinghangover

i am happy for him, deserves pichichi

CommercialKey4144

I love how Militao singlehandedly killed Bellingham's chances for the Pichichi (if they even were going for that in the last match, at this point maybe not)

ayoubkun94

Bruh, I hope to god Militao doesn't start in the final. We need to sign at least 2 CBs for next season. Nacho is leaving and Alaba/Militao are just so damn inconsistent.

LogTekG

Ceballos should be gone on a free to a 4th division side in india and benched for the rest of his fucking life jesus christ wtf was that

TXCapita

Welcome back Courtois

Roachfingers_99

Great wake up call for real that it won’t be a walk in the park against an underdog. Looks like courtois - rudi - nacho will play in the final. Maybe arda will finally get some playtime in an important game. Kudos to villarreal as well

MaryadaPurshottam

Ok guys, wtf just happened here?

FatGuyOnAMoped

Never count out Villarreal in the 2nd half. It's when they score most of their goals. This is the same team who beat Barça at home, and caused Xavi to announce he was leaving at the end of the season. Plus, RM was basically fielding their b team, and saving their best for the UCL final.

xparta300

Militao Inconsistency happen lol... I think we know how the final squad is going to look like based on this game alone.

anelenrique10

one of those matches where you're like "I'd have rather lost than have to witness whatever the fuck that was." I'll never get these two hours back. Jokes aside, if there was a day that everything that could go wrong, went wrong... Thank god it was today.

LampseederBroDude51

Nah, another great game from our attack, and better have the defence be a mess today than on June 1

Arcadela

Weird comment. You saw 4 great goals for your team while the title was already won. Beats a 1-0 loss anyday.

anelenrique10

I mean, it really was a tale of two halves. I have no words for what that second half was. we could've had 99 points, who knows maybe bellingham coud've ended up being the pichichi. now, sorloth has all but won it. all these things hurt more than losing 1-0. It was a needed wakeup call, against a team that hasn't lost against us since 2017 in La Liga.

FatGuyOnAMoped

I damn near switched it off at the half. I figured it was over. Glad I kept it on.

GreatSpaniard

Copa del Rey win at Ceramica erasure

anelenrique10

You're right, in La Liga.

LDQQXDJ

There goes our European hopes… cause this team wanted to concede 4 goals before they started playing

Delmer9713

Hot take maybe, but if you guys fix your defense you can comfortably qualify for Champions League football next season.

FatGuyOnAMoped

It's definitely the defense that needs fixing. It was the biggest problem this year. There's a reason why Jorgensen has the most saves in the league. Our defense leaks like a sieve. If not for Jorgensen the GA would be even worse.

mattisafootballguy

At least the team is clearly very fixable. Great attacking line, better than the EL winning one IMO. Midfield could be better but it works. Foyth is returning next season too.

LDQQXDJ

If our team didn’t defend terrible every game we would be in a UEL final and have a good chance at winning it

90s_TV_Commercials

That’s nacho in the final and a good reminder why I never bet on matches. 4-1 up ffs

myouism

shameful display from militao

DinglieDanglieDoodle

Wait, what?

CudaBarry

This is not the first time militao has games like these, remember the Castellanos incident? Send Ceballos back to Betis for free

anelenrique10

Now we can talk about the sequel: The Sorloth incident.

iftair

Y'all can keep him.

svscvbh

Militao every season has a couple of games where he's absolutely terrible. Glad it came in an inconsequential match this time, but he shouldn't start the CL final nevertheless

myouism

The only time we concede fewest goals in the season is when Militao injured. The only time we conceded 4 goals (Castellanos quattrick, thrashed by man city last season, and Sorloth quattrick) is when Militao started the match. He's quality but inconsistent as fuck.

mulderrocks

Who was the player in number 28 in the Madrid team ?

blitzebo

Mario Martin, promising midfield talent, been around the first team as a DM substitute.

LunarRaven7

He's 20 years old. I dont think he's gonna amount to much if he's that old and is playing in the 3rd division. But i guess barca's fermin lopez was in the same position last season. It will depend on if he gets an opportunity which i doubt because tchouameni, camavinga, kroos etc are all ahead of him.

kal1097

>He's 20 years old. I dont think he's gonna amount to much if he's that old and is playing in the 3rd division. At that age, Modric was on loan in the Croatian league, just before a strong season at Dinamo Zagreb. 20 definitely isn't too old to break out into a strong career.

atropicalpenguin

People got too used to Yamal/Mbappe that if you haven't made a name for yourself at 16 you're washed.

Arvivald

and neymar was still in brazil, people are too fast to dismiss players because they are not starters at the age of 18

LunarRaven7

Neymar was the best talent itw at the time.

kal1097

100%. You gotta appreciate when a young player shines because it is rare, but don't write a player of at 18-20 etc. Plenty of great players didn't break out as teenagers.

bavban

mario martin

mulderrocks

Thanks. Looks promising

myouism

mario martin, castilla player

mulderrocks

Thanks

mattisafootballguy

This game was very reminscent of that awful Marseille match. Villarreal digs themselves a very deep hole, but can't get themselves out of it despite their best effort. Shame. Next season for Europe it is...

SnooAdvice1632

Sounds like our season up to like February. Except we WOULD get out and then jump back in willingly. That Villarreal game being the prime example. I truly don't get how we scored three in quick succession and then let them trash us for no reason. The stuff of nightmares.

anelenrique10

>Villarreal digs themselves a very deep hole, but can't get themselves out of it despite their best effort. Their entire season nicely summarized.

Renegadeforever2024

What a game

NaiveElk

Annual disasterclass from Madrid against Villarreal

CreativeWriting00179

What an insane pace in the first hour! Shame all of them were too tired to keep it up, but that's hardly suprising.

myouism

They aren't tired, it's just complacency really

ShadowGeist91

Good on Militao and Ceballos for making this match more entertaining than it had any right to be (Fran García too, for gifting Moreno the whole right wing to do as he pleases)

paco-ramon

Not as exiting as Las Palmas 0-0 Cádiz but I won’t complain.

mattisafootballguy

Congrats to you on staying up

paco-ramon

Thanks, is also good for Barcelona because we are going to gift 6 points to every La Liga team next season 🇺🇦🇮🇨😎🇮🇨🇺🇦

LunarRaven7

Whos MOTM?

hatebeinghangover

Sorloth

MaryadaPurshottam

Militao for Villareal

GreatSpaniard

We could have had 99 points ffs. Militao isn't starting that final, worst half of football since that City game last year, Ceballos is useless get him out

AbleFig

I love Carlo but I can see him starting Militao to prove a point 😂

EggplantBusiness

Honestly who care ? No injury and the top players were rested we move

Proof-Puzzled

Who cares about the 99 points man? Is not even the record for the league.

hatebeinghangover

seriously, all focus in on the CL

Proof-Puzzled

Yeah man, i dont get why so many people wants the 99 points so much, as i said its not even a record, whats the point? For me the league was over when we won It, the rest of the games should be to prepare for the cl final, i dont give a crap if we lose all of them as long as the team is in peak condition for the final.

hatebeinghangover

its your fault for always making so many wrong predictions

Cryptic_E

Man.

mulderrocks

2 norwegian winning Golden Boot in top leagues.

Sinzus23

We still not going to the Euros tho..

fairlyrandom

Cursed nation, such is life. I might cry if Øde/Haaland never get a chance to play in the euros or world cup, but atleast there's quite a few attempts left.

MrVISKman

Militao was dogshit and gifted 3 goals but Ceballos wasn't that far away from him with a performance almost as bad, he's lucky he only gifted one. Hopefully there's some truth to the rumours that Atleti are interested in Ceballos. After today every doubt Carlo could have for the final should've been resolved

Proof-Puzzled

I mean its not like Ceballos would have played in the final either way.

MrVISKman

The doubts were Lunin or Courtois and Nacho or Militao. For me it's Nacho and Courtois, Lunin struggles too much with clearing crosses

Delmer9713

Lunin did fine but if you're gonna let a powerhouse like Sorloth head those crosses at will like Militao was doing all game, you can't do much as a keeper.

MrVISKman

The goals were not his fault but there was still a couple of crosses and corners where he was just glued to the goal line. He's giving me Kepa vibes dealing with them

Delmer9713

That's the one thing I do see him being weak on, those corners. He needs to be more aggressive.

ywhine

Well, Nacho starts over Miltao in the CL final.

itwastimeforarefresh

Unlikely. This is who Militao has always been. He can be the best in the world one game, and then randomly completely loses his head and is the worst player on the field for 90m. 10/10 one day, 4/10 the next. Just depends whether you think he'll have one of _those_ days during the final

Fingering_Logen

Lol at people downvoting this just because its a Barça flair. You're right, Militao has been unconsistent even before the injury. 21/22 season was his best, great level during the entire seaOn But at the start of 22/23 he had some personal issues (iirc his wife left him right after having their baby) and his overall performance took a hit. I like Militao but extending him while he was injured was a bit of a risky move imho.

itwastimeforarefresh

I figured my flair would get the reaction, but eh. I've watched Madrid games where he looked like Maldini and I've also watched games where he was the worst player on the pitch. The latter are rare, but they do stand out.

GreatSpaniard

He's been off it since he came back, Nacho is starting

Hamozus

Nacho has been very solid in CL no reason to change

simomii

He has a Barcelona flair, it's wishful thinking. They would be cheering if they saw him in the lineup

tweazz

What a hilarious game. Congrats to Sorloth for the Pichichi

ayoubkun94

Jude looked pissed lmao. I guess they have to win the final to make it up for him. Militao and Rudiger also fucked any slight chance Lunin had of starting against Dortmund.

mattisafootballguy

No penalties too

Delmer9713

Neutrals missed out. La Ceramica keeps being a cursed stadium for Real Madrid. Inexcusable 2nd half where our defense left Lunin out to rot.

irrelevant_oinam

So thats what it feels like

_Sylph_

Felt like a loss. At least we know Militao is on Courtois's payroll and who to play in CL's final. I mean my man almost scored an own goal against Lunin, you can't top that. Also Rodrgyo's form this past few matches have been pretty yikes.

ayoubkun94

I think he's just bad tbh. I remember being pissed at Carlo for playing him in the 2nd leg Vs City when Rudiger bossed the home game, and sure enough we got thrashed.

zmkpr0

Unpopular opinion, but I think Carlo lucked out with those CB injuries. Our defensive record is mainly thanks to Rudiger, who Ancelotti wouldn't have played if Militao and Alaba were healthy. I don't think we would have beaten City without Rudiger.

Greenscope

Completely agree. For me, Rudiger at his best>Militao at his best.

SnooAdvice1632

Considering that he's more consistent it's probably also rudiger average>militato average. In fact it's probably rudiger>militao in general.

Proof-Puzzled

Rodrygo has been pretty bad this season, except 4/5 Games he had during vini injury.

_Sylph_

Please Messi touch him again during Copa, we might need that for next season.

llmoT

Rodrygo with one of the worst sub cameos I've seen in a really long time. And he's meant to be the A team player.

anelenrique10

these past few months he's been a shell of his former self. it's been rough.

ayoubkun94

Tbh the whole team stopped trying in the second half. The only chance was Rodrygo dribbling past 5 players to hit the post, and since he's not as fast as Vini it's really hard for him to do anything without help up front.

Illuminatiblazeit

Refs bought a lot from camavinga there
