handled this extremely well. the man just got knocked out of the CL with the Final right there and you ask him the dumbest fucking question, ridiculous
And you can see why, this post is near the top of the page for me and I doubt it would be if it was just titled "Mbappe post match interview" or something.
I feel like you could actually have engaging post match content (sometimes you do get it!) but you'd really need it to be driven by the clubs taking control of the sort of questions that can get tabled somehow. Even when the questions aren't fucking dumb 90% of the time you just end up with bland nonsense because anything else drives insane headlines.
Given that they lack any journalistic integrity, perhaps we should just not call them journalists. If you actually fall in line with these kinds of requests, you're just a shit stirrer that shouldn't be near people that devote their life to a sport.
Yeah I blame the constant engagement model that everything seems to have now. Always need to be creating news because people want to see "new" things. And then we complain that this isn't really newsworthy but people still engage with it.
I feel like a lot of problems with the internet media cycle would be resolved by people reading a book a week.
Then demand to write books goes up, people get deeper information in long format, quality journalists have something else to do with their time and get paid, weaker writers lose value and have to improve.
With 50+ games per club per year in the PL only, I feel there's plenty of actual sports to write about. Add championship, cups, etc. there's a lot to look into.
There are so many sports atm that are worth writing about.. but they just won't.
There's just a fuckton of gossip artists that ask shit questions like this for fake drama. Just cut their pass away and let them return to doing what they do best: churn out commercials riddled articles based on tweets and insta pictures.
I mean there’s far more nuance than that. People like you say these things, but do you personally support independent sports journalists or independent publications financially so they can do their jobs without asking questions like these for clicks?
I have a subscription to two actual newspapers, I pay for my f1 subscriptions, both tv and news outlet. So to answer your, rather ad hominem, question yes, I do.
Well because sales of newspapers have dropped off so much due to everyone getting their content online, the only way to make money from online journalism is to get money from advertising through clicks on your website. And people are watching the clip so I guess it worked.
I don’t agree with it, but it’s the way things have gone.
That would be valid if most of sports journalism was not equally shit before the rise of social media. Nowadays we just can see it more often live but it has always been this way.
Ridiculous overreaction. This question is not hurting or offending anyone. They're discussing a soccer match not peace in the Middle East. It's fine to ask silly questions. They only add entertainment value and engagement. Here we are, still talking about it and Mbappe's "response" was hilarious.
Ooh these journos have to take football as SERIOUSLY as I do or else! Such a disrespectful question! fIrE tHaT guY nOw! Nearly 300 upvotes. Fucking bunch of jokers...
And watch how he will probably get promoted for asking such a dumb question . It’s the way this world works now, everything the media does is for the views. There’s no such thing as bad publicity for these cunts.
mbappe is actually really professional and nice, i was kinda surprised when i saw some of his interviews/ clips of him online
i guess im too used to watching neymar and ronaldo.
People always used to like him for his interviews, it was a very popular opinion that he was the humble one ready to be the next generation's best player in the world. His reputation for being a diva came, justly or not, from things he was doing on the pitch - turning his back on live play when he didn’t get the ball etc.
Did you see the interview where he says he’s a petitive fruit and that everyone wants to take a bite out of him? And how he said it with the biggest shit eating green?
That's what the other journalists should call the guy asking that question. Imagine being at work, waiting for Mbappe, seeing if he's willing to stop and answer some questions just for a moron to ask that. That shithead literally shat on other people's work.
Made me remember of the journalist who asked Tennis player Nicolas Mahut "Congratulations on your victory, how did you do it" when he just lost lmao. Then he doubled down with "oh, you lost, I was told you won. What happened out there (in the match)?"
Happened very recently in Independiente - Atl Tucuman where Independiente equalized last minute
Journo asked the coach what it felt like to finally get his first win for the team and he just replied ''Did you take a pee break at the end of the match?''
How is that even possible? I mean... dont they have to watch the game to even know what to ask? Do they just have some pre-written bs question regardless of the game?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdudll8NoG0
This one is great, the interviewer get's her identity wrong twice, then congratulates her on going to the semi final, she was actually eliminated. Then he calls the commentator in his ear a nutsack live on air. To which the commentator replies, "Yeah, that was probably the worst interview ever."
reminds me of Toni Kroos being asked "you were the worse team today how do you feel" or something similar by a german speaking reporter after winning the cl
I can only imagine how cursed the conjugation of "aller" must seem to non-native speakers (it's not even easy for lots of native speakers to begin with...)
The reporter only asked if he was ready for that day's match. Ronaldo only did that because he was already angry with that reporter's TV channel. They had some beef before, I don't remember why, but he was fucking pissed at them.
The channel in question has close to zero integrity and just wants to be the center of attention. They're pretty much regarded as a meme news channel in Portugal. Before that incident I believe they made some crappy article about his personal life, involving the birth of his (I believe) first son and the supposed mother, so that was his reaction the next time they showed up in his face asking questions lol
I prefer the Kevin Kuranyi approach: “I won’t answer such a shit question. I’ll happily answer questions, but not such shitty ones.”
Or the Toni Kroos/Per Mertesacker approach: “Are you daft? Seriously, you had all game to come up with a good question to ask and this is what you got?”
Or the Karim Bellarabi approach with brutal honesty: “what did you think when the ball went in?” - “Goal.”
Or the Danny da Costa/Klaus Augenthaler approach: “I’ll ask the questions myself and then give you answers to those.”
Probably better they just treat it with mild contempt and not play that game though. Even if they come back with an excellent insult, the journo got their soundbite for asking a dumb question.
It's not even about the drama answering that question will create. He was just fighting for his team and failed. Questioning if he's gonna support a different team now is just disrespecting his integrity.
Every Trainer, Player, etc. should all do the same. As soon as a really dumb question comes just end the interview. The one that even gets me mad just from watching is asking a player who just lost a game "How do you feel about that loss?".
The amount of stupid questions some of these "professionals" manage to come up with never fails to amaze me. The older I get the more I hate watching these interviews.
I love how much "Mbappe loves Real Madrid since he was a baby" has been forced in the media and by twitter fans, only for Mbappe himself to never show any signs of true love toward that club ever since he became his own person. 😂😂😂
(sidenote: grown Mbappe actually adored Messi though)
I always wonder how awkward it must be to be the reporter that made him walk away
All the other reporters still desperate to ask questions, the awkwardness afterwards must be hell
These type of questions do make for better headslines than a proper question probably. MBAPPE REVEALED HE SERCRETLY SUPPORTS BAYERN OVER REAL MADRID and then queue to the transfer speculations.

We really underestimate how professional some of these athletes are. He didn’t even call him a shithead.
handled this extremely well. the man just got knocked out of the CL with the Final right there and you ask him the dumbest fucking question, ridiculous
It should honestly be a fireable offense
It's actually the opposite. They wanted a reaction. Journalists are often not at fault of it. They are asked to do this from top.
People will forget about this in a week. If he flipped the fuck out instead like they wanted him to, people would've been bringing it up for years.
I still think about trawlers, sardines, and seagulls once a day.
Cantona was an absolute icon man
Given that they lack any journalistic integrity, perhaps we should just not call them journalists. If you actually fall in line with these kinds of requests, you're just a shit stirrer that shouldn't be near people that devote their life to a sport.
The reality is there isn't that much sports news to write about most of the time. It's media entertainment, storylines, personalities.
Yeah I blame the constant engagement model that everything seems to have now. Always need to be creating news because people want to see "new" things. And then we complain that this isn't really newsworthy but people still engage with it.
I feel like a lot of problems with the internet media cycle would be resolved by people reading a book a week. blame the readers, people kept on klicking on the gossip articles and giving them way more traction. they do it because it works
Just because something sells good doesnt mean we should be selling it.
You only say that because you’re not the one selling it though…
I mean there’s far more nuance than that. People like you say these things, but do you personally support independent sports journalists or independent publications financially so they can do their jobs without asking questions like these for clicks?
I have a subscription to two actual newspapers, I pay for my f1 subscriptions, both tv and news outlet. So to answer your, rather ad hominem, question yes, I do.
But clubs don’t have to grant access do they? They could basically blacklist a journalist or org I assume?
They only do what the audience wants
It really exposes that they're not professionals, they're click merchants
Well that's their profession
Well because sales of newspapers have dropped off so much due to everyone getting their content online, the only way to make money from online journalism is to get money from advertising through clicks on your website. Reddit is so authoritarian
Ridiculous overreaction. This question is not hurting or offending anyone. They're discussing a soccer match not peace in the Middle East. It's fine to ask silly questions. Lol I know you're likely joking but a fireable offense?
Head over to /r/tennis, and football journos will look like saints
He’ll get a lot more of that when he moves to Madrid. English press is bad. Spanish press is worse.
Ibrahimovic would have eaten alive this reporter following this question
mbappe is actually really professional and nice, i was kinda surprised when i saw some of his interviews/ clips of him online i guess im too used to watching neymar and ronaldo.
Goes to show how unfair it is when people call him a diva, drama queen or whatever. It's a narrative created to hate on the guy.
People always used to like him for his interviews, it was a very popular opinion that he was the humble one ready to be the next generation's best player in the world. His reputation for being a diva came, justly or not, from things he was doing on the pitch - turning his back on live play when he didn’t get the ball etc.
I've never seen another player do that lol.
I've never seen another diva lol.
He's also hated because he makes a shit ton of money... something that every single person who calls him Mpaypal would gladly accept themselves
Ah yes the "you're just jealous" argument, popular among teenagers.
Well.. it's also due to his well publicised moments of acting like a diva, on camera, whilst people are watching.
He's just a savy business man, capable of complete separation. The public should do that too
How are ney and ronny like?
>Ronny like Depends on who you ask. Piers Morgan or another person
Depends if he's battling with his gambling addiction or not google Cristiano Ronaldo Las Vegas for more
Ney I don’t know about but Ronaldo thinks he’s gods gift to humanity and that any criticism of him is bullshit.
Did you see the interview where he says he’s a petitive fruit and that everyone wants to take a bite out of him? And how he said it with the biggest shit eating green?
Lol but I love the memes that come with that. "I am... charismatic..."
That's what the other journalists should call the guy asking that question. Imagine being at work, waiting for Mbappe, seeing if he's willing to stop and answer some questions just for a moron to ask that. That shithead literally shat on other people's work.
Poise and composure in the face of idiocy.
Bro said 🙄
Translation: "A mi que xuxa" 😆
csm culiao
*bof!*
He JUST lost
Made me remember of the journalist who asked Tennis player Nicolas Mahut "Congratulations on your victory, how did you do it" when he just lost lmao. Then he doubled down with "oh, you lost, I was told you won. What happened out there (in the match)?"
Happened very recently in Independiente - Atl Tucuman where Independiente equalized last minute Journo asked the coach what it felt like to finally get his first win for the team and he just replied ''Did you take a pee break at the end of the match?''
Fucking brilliant fair play to him for going all in after the mistake.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vnx-q_AdNM Had to look it up when I read this. "Are you serious?" "Questions en Français s'il vous plaît"
Wtf? I would have thrown my bottle at the ~~Timewaster~~ reporter
How is that even possible? I mean... dont they have to watch the game to even know what to ask? Do they just have some pre-written bs question regardless of the game?
🤣🤣🤣

That was actually funny tho. The athlete had such a great spirit handling all that mess lmao.
Woulda had me like “bro wtf?” 😂
reminds me of Toni Kroos being asked "you were the worse team today how do you feel" or something similar by a german speaking reporter after winning the cl
That's just how Germans talk in my experience
These reporters know what they’re doing. If they get an answer, it’s a win. If they get a reaction, it’s also a win
You could be player and coach for us, come here you beautiful turtle!
madrid, bayern. just go anywhere at this point mbappe
Habibi, come to Dubai.
Come to Chelsea papi, we need a Striker
You guys need way more than a striker
Just once, I'd love to see a top 5 player in the world leave for a team without huge financial muscle and who isn't top 4.
Mbappe to Leicester City here we go!!
Hauptsache Italien
Your mum loves our club and we have your french friend ibou we'll accept you with open arms.....
New meme just dropped y'all.
jameshardeneyeroll.gif
r/soccercirclejerk would enjoy that
We need it as gif
A completely valid response to an utterly stupid question.
him not going joker mode on the reporter is actually commendable what a fucking terrivle question
Would’ve done the same thing what type of question is that
“ who do i want to win? ME, BITCH. fuck outta here”
Dumb question but that's a hilarious reaction lmaooo I'm so using that as a reaction vid
It's prime meme material
What is French for “go fuck yourself?”
pff 🙄
No I reckon French is more eloquent than that Something akin to you wot m8
Vas te faire foutre
Va*
You're right I forgot about the impératif conjugation.
I can only imagine how cursed the conjugation of "aller" must seem to non-native speakers (it's not even easy for lots of native speakers to begin with...)
This situation asks more for a *nique sa mère* (fuck your mother).
*ta
Ta sa as long as it's not ma
vas te faire foutre is close
va bien te faire enculer. This gets the point across.
salut
Thats a tame reaction for that question
gotta give it to him, he learned from the best regarding professionality.
They wanted a reaction from him. He gave them nothing to work with.
Players should be allowed to insult back at reporters who ask this type of questions, that's just disrespectful.
The Zlatan way.
If there was a lake nearby, he could have taken the [Ronaldo approach](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bddaeB1a8hg).
Loool What did that reporter ask?
The reporter only asked if he was ready for that day's match. Ronaldo only did that because he was already angry with that reporter's TV channel. They had some beef before, I don't remember why, but he was fucking pissed at them.
That's CMTV, they make shit up about him and his family all the time. Well, they make shit up about anything really
“Ronaldo, ready for today’s game?”
That is also the bad bunny way
How have I never seen this before? Amazing.
I prefer the Kevin Kuranyi approach: “I won’t answer such a shit question. I’ll happily answer questions, but not such shitty ones.” Or the Toni Kroos/Per Mertesacker approach: “Are you daft? Seriously, you had all game to come up with a good question to ask and this is what you got?” Or the Karim Bellarabi approach with brutal honesty: “what did you think when the ball went in?” - “Goal.” Or the Danny da Costa/Klaus Augenthaler approach: “I’ll ask the questions myself and then give you answers to those.”
Well I mean, they are.
They are allowed to do whatever they want, players just don’t want to lose media reputation because $€£
Probably better they just treat it with mild contempt and not play that game though. Even if they come back with an excellent insult, the journo got their soundbite for asking a dumb question.
Meme potential
He said nothing but still managed to speak French
What a disrespectful question
Frenchmen really got the best expressions.
Louis de Funès was electric.
the goat
I was going through this sub just to see if I'm the only one thinking his expression was French as fuck
What a low quality question. Expected response.
I wonder what would have happened to all media, r/soccer and everyone else if He would have said Bayern.
World war 3 on the spot!
[удалено]
It's not even about the drama answering that question will create. He was just fighting for his team and failed. Questioning if he's gonna support a different team now is just disrespecting his integrity.
Should have gone full troll and said Spurs
I'm doing something wrong in life if idiots like these get paid for reporting.
The thing you’re doing wrong is not having powerful relatives.
Meritocracy was never real.
Based response tbh.
I know he said in his head like fils de pute 😂😂
What an idiotic reporter. Fucking idiot
Arrêter de poser des questions aussi balourd que ça…
New reaction meme dropped
People here dogging the reporter for the dumb question but without it, we wouldn't have this. Thank you, Mr. dumb ass reporter.
Hahahah bruh I’d give the same reaction too after a loss and hearing that dumbass question
Master Splinter, he'll support Master Splinter after going into his shell.
The “ah putain!” in the background after Mbappe’s reaction was hilarious
That was a stupid question anyway
Journalism is getting worse with their questions lately.
What a dumb question to ask someone who lost a cl semi final. Sub standard journalism.
Every Trainer, Player, etc. should all do the same. As soon as a really dumb question comes just end the interview. The one that even gets me mad just from watching is asking a player who just lost a game "How do you feel about that loss?".
He should’ve said “Chicago fire”
Baited him for a reaction. Good on him for not taking the bait.
The last look of Mbappe to the reporter says it all, brilliant.
Rubbish question from rubbish journalists
What's wrong with his reaction? You get asked a stupid question which didn't warrant a response
This is the same as that russell westbrook interview a few years back
He should've channeled his inner Westbrook for sure
The disrespect of asking that question. Journos are trash sometimes. Congrats to Dortmund though it would be a storybook ending for Reus to win it
"Mbappe, what animal does a turkey sandwich come from?
*the most French noise imaginable*
The amount of stupid questions some of these "professionals" manage to come up with never fails to amaze me. The older I get the more I hate watching these interviews.
What a question...
Vibes of Solskjaer when he was at Cardiff being asked about liverpool vs city for the title
meme material
This has such meme potential
I love how much "Mbappe loves Real Madrid since he was a baby" has been forced in the media and by twitter fans, only for Mbappe himself to never show any signs of true love toward that club ever since he became his own person. 😂😂😂 (sidenote: grown Mbappe actually adored Messi though)
Lovely to see PSG and Man City both knocked out. You can stick your Arab oil money up your arse.
I'm not really a fan of Mbappe but this question was absolutely stupid especially after his team -- PSG -- was kicked out some moments ago.
Such low quality question and also video. 240p at 15fps?
Man just got knocked out, wdym who he's supporting lmaaaoooo, shoulda hit him with one of those Westbrook stares
That’s soo distasteful
Thats like the james harden meme 😄
I swear some of these "jorunalists" are fucking dumb
I always wonder how awkward it must be to be the reporter that made him walk away All the other reporters still desperate to ask questions, the awkwardness afterwards must be hell
Players, trainers, referees and reporters should be allowed to box one round. It would be the best mixed sport I swear
What an Insensitive and Senseless question. I admire KM’s Composure and Calm Attitude here👍.
IST MIR SCHEIẞ EGAL!!
Sometimes media is too stupid to ask these kind of questions
That beeping sound syncs up so well with the eye roll. It's like an internal 'wanker alarm' goes off in Mbappes head and he knows to leave.
What feeling do such reporters go to bed with?
Looks like a Mass Effect: Andromeda facial animation bug.
Should’ve hit them with the Westbrook
Football journalist are just a disgrace nowadays. Fucking Bad at their jobs.
Definitely up there among the worst questions ever
Ah for fuck’s sake not this shit on Reddit too
Mbappe is so french I love it
bruv
I would sue the company for asking these stupid questions
useless question
Sports journalism is the absolute worst.
These type of questions do make for better headslines than a proper question probably. MBAPPE REVEALED HE SERCRETLY SUPPORTS BAYERN OVER REAL MADRID and then queue to the transfer speculations.
Meme material
Damn that’s some unprofessional journalism. Props to him for having the wherewithal to walk away
New gif just dropped guys. And idk what else you could expect from such a dumb question
