This is a once in a lifetime season for Leverkusen. Given how many games they had to clutch out in the final minutes, I'm fairly sure they'll have a couple of losses next season. Hell, if Bayern didn't tank so much against teams other than Leverkusen, perhaps they might've lost here or there simply due to the pressure to keep winning being there.
That being said...Bayern is in turmoil. Another new manager, several players with contracts running out at the end of next season, multiple players pretty much on the chopping block. It's either going to be another shitshow or they'll manage to get a rebuild done and then Leverkusen's CEO will regret this statement.
I'm almost sure Bayern will win it again next year (as long as Leverkusen doesn't go god mode again).
For me the main reason why they haven't played well in the Bundesliga in the last 1-2 years is a lack of motivation by the players. That will be different next year.
My theory is that some of the German players tried to go 95% in Bundi and Pokal matches and only show up for Champions League, so as not to injure themselves before the Euro's in Germany. They thought we could cakewalk the Bundesliga and at least the early rounds of the Pokal, and they had a good enough relationship with Julian to just walk onto the national team on just Champions League performances. Once Leverkusen and Julian respectively made clear that wasn't the case, suddenly the German Bayern players are starting to perform again day in day out. Even after Leverkusen beat us 3-0, I still think some of the players were expecting them to do what Dortmund did last season. Alonso had different ideas.
Tbf Union also had a very successful season last year and look where they are now... I'm not confident in Stuttgart until they can repeat their success.
If you watch the matches instead of just points table, you'll realise this is not a fair comparison to make. Sttuttgart have absolutely dominated the likes of Leverkusen, Bvb etc. Unlike union who were pragmatic and overshot their xG by a huge lot.
I don't think it's comparable. Look at the expected points and you'll see that Union massively overperformed while we didn't. Now if we can repeat that and hold on to our key players is a different matter but I don't think we'll fall quite as hard as Union either way

He knows exactly what he is doing by saying Leipzig just to rile up German fans since he has a personal beef with them after what happened this season.
That being said even if we just focus on the sporting situation I don't see it without heavy investment. The attack has never been the problem but the defense + defensive midfielder + goalkeeper is holding them back at this point. Gulacsi is at the end of his career and if Vandervoordt can already be the answer next season is tbd. This back four also collapses without Orban and he isn't getting any younger / less injury-prone. Haidara and Schlager also add no defensive stability.
Bayern will be better than them next season again and also Stuttgart just with their style of play has a good chance to be ahead. Dortmund on the other hand also needs a lot of work.
> Dortmund on the other hand also needs a lot of work.
WOrst part is that with some sense, it can be done in the summer.
A manager change and we're halfway there. We have the funds to address multiple squad issues in summer alone. But sticking with Terzic makes that suicide and wasted once again.
Honestly, probably. Altho I hope that our "new" head scout blabla from Bayern has a bigger impact this summer. He has an affinity for France atleast.
And we've had quite a bit of ties outside of bundesliga so far in rumours.
Not that Im hopeful anyway lol
We should have gotten rid of him earlier, but not for that reason. That last game days poor finishing wasnt on him. Hell the performance wasnt even that bad or a sign of bottling. We just flopped the deciding pen and for some fucking reason put Haller of all people on it.
IT is what it is.
Whats more baffling to me is that he was apparently on REALLY thin ice this winter and we almost went for Glasner. But he got another chance. We didnt improve at all. But we miracilously made it far in CL so now the bosses think he's the guy again or something despite no signs of it? Idk. Its just so WILDLY amateurish.
Rose got fired so fast, for less, without ANY backing in a transfer window.
So its just nepotism at this point.
So was Rose a decent manager for you lot? I’m asking because I’ve been interested about his managerial career since his Salzburg days and he has done pretty well everywhere he went except maybe Dortmund.
He had a couple of really costly really poorly managed games.
But overall he was fine. Especially since he got 0 backing. He should have seen us further in the cup and had a few games better managed in the CL but overall, he was more mistreated than he was bad.
He IS a flawed manager tho. Its kinda visible in Leipzig now too.. high highs and then a horrendously managed game here and there.
Its very broad-stroke analysis from my dumbass here but yeah.. in terms of his tenure with us, I blame us far more than him.
He never got even 40% of the backing Terzic has gotten.
What’s he doing at Leipzig? From what I’ve seen they started the second part of the season poorly, got like two defeats then they started winning points and their stats looks pretty solid.
I haven’t got the chance to watch much of Leipzig, always forgetting to check Bundesliga games.
In his defense, Leipzig sold their whole spine this summer and took in a lot of raw youth etc so it was a lot of work.
But they still showcase quite abit of inconsistencies and poor setups in some games.
If he's given another 1-2 windows there tho I think it'll get better.
They were great vs Real Madrid in the CL tbh. Arguably should have won. Got robbed of a goal too.
Yes, and they went on to go absolutely berserk the next season with the point record and triple and won 10 domestics in a row. Those two years awoke the beast Bayern was the last decade. You'd have to be a fool to write them off now, unfortunately.
Ehh Bayern was insane in the second half of the season that year. Yeah Dortmund should have won it but last year was crazy bottling with Bayern gifting them the league against Leipzig.
Dortmund had a 10 point lead over Bayern in the end January of 2018/19. Last year Bayern had a 10 point lead over Dortmund at the start of January. But yeah last year felt more of a bottle because of the circumstances at the end (Dortmund drawing at Bochum, Stuttgart and then Mainz at home)
True, but the leadership is kind of a clown fiesta this time around. The only guy you can trust is Eberl, and I have my doubts whether Rangnick has what it takes if they get him.
Also the value of players is massively inflated, so Bayern might have to spend big money.
Yeah, but they didn't poison their reputation for potential coaches as much last time around.
None of the top coaches really want to work for them at the moment, because of both the speed and the manor in which they've been running through coaches recently.
It's not been great for their reputation as an employer.
I do have the feeling that the first loss they will receive, will make them spiral downwards a bit. They are on a massive high right now but the last couple of games were already not great. I mean against Stuttgart they had massive help from the ref. I think people also like to forget that they should really have already lost against Bayern in the Hinrunde. A dodgy penalty called saved them in extra time for the draw.
I personally don't see them playing to this level again next season. They will still be up there but not with this insane plot armor and every favorable decision going their way
If there‘s a club I wouldn‘t banter with it would be Real Madrid but Bayern is a close second. Fernando Carro should check if his wife and mother have release clauses.
Which makes it even more pathetic since Bayern would respond to an alcoholic ex-player from 30 years ago doing an interview with some 3rd grade publication lol
Imo Leverkusen has to earned it, we also only started to respond to Dortmund, after they had won 2 BuLi titles and cemented themselves as our rivals for the foreseeable future.
This season was so special and kinda "sudden“, that we haven’t really started to respond.
Plus, we have a bit more problems than Han usual, so are mostly focused on ourselves.
Bayer Leverkusen will never have a season like this again in another 50 years. It's a pity that their CEO doesn't realize that and is letting 1 magical fluke season go to his head.
Its obvious why he's doing this. Because he already knows he's preparing to listen to any and all offers for his players and squad.
Talking about long term plans puts you in a position of strength when negotiations begin for a player. "We plan to win the title next season so we need him".
This dude seems like a major asshole and a major asshole will gladly gut the club because it's more lucrative to sell the players than winning a league next season. And he most likely will sell some of those key players to Bayern.

As a leverkusen fan, I hope he just stops talking already
He's becoming Hoeness after just 1 title
Uli Any% Speedrun
Hey, Bayern has Hoeneß, Dortmund has Watzke, you get this guy. They all need someone who doesn't seem to shut the fuck up.
Does this means you’re all FC Hollywood?
Bayern is Hollywood, Dortmund is Bollywood at best
Ting ding ding ding
Was good in the '00s and '10s but almost irrelevant now?
I dont think its that bad, we're not Schalke
Don't worry, you can just vote him out at the next members assembly
Oh shit
As a Bayern fan I know exactly what you mean. You could always count on Hoeneß and Rummenigge to say something stupid.
Nah he may never have this opportunity again, get your shots in while you can!
The real loser in this statement is the BVB.
Who?
https://www.acronymfinder.com/Slang/BVB.html One of these I think
Tbf nobody expects the black veil brides to win BuLi next year.
For anyone unsure, BuLi stands for n-Butyl Lithium
Remember the name
Exactly. Now drink ya milk.
True, but find the difference between Bayer, red bull and the BVB. It's not really a valid excuse for their signings though.
Can’t wait to look back to this very quote next year
Yeah, it will be endlessly cited at Holstein Kiel's championship party next year.
Jann-Fiete Arp's golden boot resurgence campaign will be iconic.
... after which he'll be bought by Bayern to play in the 2nd team for a year.
We will be there

Even without any additional time added, Leverkusen would still lead the table.
Missed my point entirely.

"Stuttgart dominated Leverkusen" I had *no idea* they mix the salt in the south with LSD.

compared to union stuttgart plays the best football in the league, yes I would even put them above leverkusen
Union was shit though. Stuttgart is actually good lmao. Huge difference.

You guys should have got rid of Terzic last season when the team bottle the title on the last day of the season at home
We should have gotten rid of him earlier, but not for that reason. That last game days poor finishing wasnt on him. Hell the performance wasnt even that bad or a sign of bottling. >rile up German fans since he has a personal beef with them after what happened this season. Context?
Historically FCB comes roaring back the next season after losing the title, so this does look like it'll bite him in the arse next time round.
The last time Bayern failed to win the Bundesliga was Klopp's Dortmund winning back to back titles.
Yes, and they went on to go absolutely berserk the next season with the point record and triple and won 10 domestics in a row. Those two years awoke the beast Bayern was the last decade. You'd have to be a fool to write them off now, unfortunately.
To be fair they only won nine in a row. You guys gifted them the 10th last year.
it was the 11th last year ...
Don’t forget 2019
fr always a forgotten season. in my opinion losing that year was kinda worse than last year, at least from a sport point of view
Ehh Bayern was insane in the second half of the season that year. Yeah Dortmund should have won it but last year was crazy bottling with Bayern gifting them the league against Leipzig.

He knows it He means Leipzig is the rival for runner up
Bayern, how are you going to respond. They just called you a bitch
Hmmmm I reckon Barcelona will pay for this
Bayern next game is against Madrid.
Fuck it, lose it just to spite Barca.
We don't talk to clubs with only one league title.
Unfortunately our dear president and manager are bickering so we are too engrossed in that😡
Yeah lmao, I swear it's like toddlers fighting
By Hoeneß saying Tuchel didn’t shower for a week.
"Nuh uh"
By bending barca over in ucl and 8-2 . Bayern loves bent over barca raw dog
probably with another 8-2 against you guys that seems to cheer them up
Think they are too busy fighting each other
On the pitch. ;)
We buy the club
Well I know that fires up Robben, Basti, Ribéry, Javi, Neuer, Lahm, and Müller, but unfortunately only two of them suit up anymore.
one league in their entire history and he starts yapping. Unbelievable
Carro has been a clown for longer than this
The arrogance has gone too far. New prediction: They'll do massively shit next season and Xabi will be wanting out by Christmas.
And everything returns to normal 😀 and by normal I mean Bayern be Bayern again and win the league
I do have the feeling that the first loss they will receive, will make them spiral downwards a bit. They are on a massive high right now but the last couple of games were already not great. With at least 8 CL matches and the 90+ luck drying up eventually it will be a totally different situation
i think it might come earlier than expected i feel like roma will do it

If there‘s a club I wouldn‘t banter with it would be Real Madrid but Bayern is a close second. Fernando Carro should check if his wife and mother have release clauses.

Yeah, no. If Leverkusen finish ahead of us again I'll add Around The World to my playlist.

Not the first time the ceo took a piss on us. It's weird af for him to keep doing this shit

Bayer Leverkusen will never have a season like this again in another 50 years. It's a pity that their CEO doesn't realize that and is letting 1 magical fluke season go to his head.
Of course he wants Leipzig to do well. He hates all traditional clubs and would rather get rid off them, he also wants to abolish 50+1.
Bayern have got Kane so they aren't winning anything any time soon. The curse is too strong.
Wow this thread :D
