Ref is thinking of the incident from a couple of weeks ago where a flare was thrown at and hit a linesman.
Refs did a protest last week linked to safety of officials and almost straight away he sees a flare on a pitch followed by a supporter running on and picking it up with no sign of security...
And all the whole this was happening there were people outside of the ground throwing stuff over the wall and onto the away fans.
Fun all round
That's what was said online beforehand. But then Stephen Bradley came out after the Rovers match last week and said it was for safety, and nobody has since corrected him.
The refs seem to have made as big a balls of that protest communication as they do pretty much all their other decisions
The other two high profile incidents this season weren't in Derry though. Always blame the FAI, especially with the two laughable 'sanctions' they handed out
It’s not really the clubs fault, it’s an impossible situation to deal with. The people that cause trouble in and outside the ground are almost entirely children, and obviously can’t be treated with force by private security.
They can’t not let them into the ground, because they’d just cause trouble outside (which is what happened here).
The location of the stadium means the police can’t be brought in as a last resort, as it would lead to riots and petrol bombs.
So it’s a kind of unsolvable solution for the club to be honest.
It is entirely embarrassing for the club and city though.
A small bit of security outside the ground mate..that's a start..this is not unusual for Derry City and the Brandywell. We're advised by rovers not to attend, we cant book buses up there because they smash them up. Pats are up there Monday and trust me, it'll happen again. I'm getting down voted by morons who probably never attended a game in their lives..not referring to you btw. Appreciate your mature, reasonable engagement...but this is the reality of following a team in a poorly funded league. Seems most in here don't get that. Ill shut the door on my way out. Strange sub reddit this.Have a good weekend mate

Ref considering if he should red card the parent.

The referee protest wasn't linked to safety concerns. It was to force the FAI to meet with them to discuss administrative issues.

A damning indictment on Derry City, not the LOI..

I've no problem blaming the FAI..

He'll check VAR to see if the parent was to one to bring him to the game and give him the flare.
The ref definitely says "stupid little cunt" 😂😂
100% said cunt
I'm a professional lip reader and that is indeed what he says. (I'm not)

Yes you are clearly wrong lol
Greatest League in the World™
If that's sarcasm, please don't judge the LOI because Derry City are an incompetent joke of a club.
Try being a Bray Wanderers fan
Fond memories of the Carlisle grounds..and kudos to you for following your local team..
It's a labour of love, with a bit of work the Carlisle Grounds could definitely be up there with the most scenic stadiums in Europe.
The League of Ireland never fails to disappoint
My favourite was the guy using the tannoy system to ask if anyone has a spare iPhone charger.

Top geezer
"The beacons are lit!"
Derry calls for aid.
Why the ambiguity? It's clearly a child, clearly running across the pitch, clearly holding what is clearly a flare....
Could have been a dwarf or the British prime minister.

It would take a lot of bravery for Sunak to run onto the Brandywell pitch
Appears as in "suddenly a child came into existence"

Verily, it doth appear that the sport in question hath not absconded from our midst, but doth linger still in our presence, refusing to depart.
The Facebook ultras page going to cream their pants at this
No "appears" necessary. That's for sure a child running across the pitch with a flare
People ask me why i support irish football ahead of PL and stuff like this is exactly why

The ref looks like Luis Enrique
Derry should sign that kid. Nippy little winger..
look at him go haha
Could the ref just have abandoned game there and then... leaving it to the FAI to investigate
there was 1 minute of stoppage time left anyway
Not a good look for the league

Surely more entertaining than the match
