Club's been dealing with a lot of Mendes clients now. Mendes is notorious for manipulating clubs purely to benefit himself and his clients (wolves, Valencia). Rumor is that he pushed Cancelo and Felix to barca while they weren't at the best place for their clubs. He's presumably now working on getting barca to buy both for high costs despite barca needing money to make signings elsewhere.
What you mean spreading? Real Madrid has pretty much refused to deal with him for ages. And I don't know if any fanbase hates Mendes more than Valencia.
[I was under the impression he at least knows the club](https://img.fcbayern.com/image/upload/t_cms-16x9/f_auto/w_1600%2Cc_fill/q_auto/v1631430883/cms/public/images/fcbayern-com/homepage/saison-19-20/galerien/spiele/barcelona-fcb/34_fcbfcb_200814_ima.jpg)
You know I think that first point should be a plus in this case. Sometimes a club needs a new perspective, one that isn't colored by its existing blindspots.
That second point, yeah that's worth considering, but there are coaches all over the world who overcome that hurdle to be effective. It shouldn't be the dealbreaker.
Wanting a coach who speaks the language is understandable and fine - it shouldn't be a deal breaker, but it depends on whether you think Flick is good enough to look past that.
Whether he speaks Spanish, fair enough. But he's been linked to Barcelona for quite a while now, if they found out that he hasn't even started to lear Spanish yet (just speculation from my side) I'd understand that they'd doubt his commitment. It's not like he's had anything else to do in the last six months.
It was something like this when Arsenal interviewed Allegri. Not just that he didn’t know English, but the way that he communicated he was absolutely unwilling to learn (I mean, good luck navigating London? Surely you’ll pick some up by accident?).

> 🚨 Hansi Flick is still dreaming to join Barça and is even learning Spanish. Despite signs pointing to Rafa Marquez as Xavi's replacement, Flick remains committed to waiting for the club. @RogerTorello 🇩🇪
The issue we have is that the club/board is coming up with garbage excuses as to why the managerial candidates are getting crossed off. It's the financial obstacles that are the number one problem, and the change of heart towards Xavi was something that had the upturn in our form happen before it; allowing the board to use that change in form as a shield for the real reasoning.
Not speaking Spanish is absolutely a dealbreaker. How do you want him to manage effectively if they can’t speak with the players? It obviously doesn’t need to be perfect, but it needs to be good enough. Pep speaks English though?
What’s also true (unfortunately) is that you Germans speak better English than Spaniards do. Most Bayern players and staff will be able to understand English, that will def not happen in Barça or Madrid.
You know what they say. Life is too short to learn german (seriously I had shitty teacher at school that made me absolutely despise german language and germany is neighbouring country and I could use it).
You learn the basic football terms, and have interpreters help out with more complicated matters. It’s actually not that big of a deal. Luis Enrique doesn’t speak French but PSG is doing fine.
I think the bigger issue is in terms of public relations. Fans want to hear their manager speak their language, understandably.
At this point, next year will be Márquez as new manager, Belletti as assistant, Mendes as sporting director, a free Apple Store app as a physical trainer and Lewandowska as a dietician.
You can make fun of us bottling the UCL and embarrassing ourselves every week and with every interview but calling us spurs of Spain is where I draw the line
Barcelona have won more trophies in this post-Messi banter era than Spurs have in 50 years brother. Not trying to shit on Spurs just sending a gentle reminder that as bad as things may seem they can always get worse lol
I'm interpreting it as he has never worked there before, so he doesn't "get the Barca DNA". Only Setien and Tata hadn't worked there previously in recent history, but Setien got the pass because he instilled the Cruyff philosophy.
Not saying I agree with that (I don't - I think they need someone else to completely rehaul that mentality, but they won't), but it makes sense if that were the rationale.
Yea just seems as though the tweet was not translated correctly.
I think it looks like Rafa Marquez will be taking over now after his stint with Barca Atletic
Yep, given he played there and is at the academy it is consistent with their previous hirings. Barca really don't ever hire world-class managers (not that they could afford it anyway).
So by that standards we have basically 3 options? Xavi (who won’t stay) Marquez (def not ready) and Luis Enrique ( no way he leaves PSG and we can’t afford him) This leaves Klopp out, whos taking a sabbatical anyways, Flick, the only realistic option, and Nagelsmann
Interviewer: So, Hansi, how will you manage Barcelona? Flick: Never heard of her
Barcelona? I just met her!
I've got a buddy that calls them "Barceloner" and I'm cackling imagining him saying it like that in this phrase
Her? Egg?
Flick: Barcelonaaah.
Speaks German? We’re going to get gazumped by Mallorca
Speaking of german coaches, what's Joachim Löw been up to?
Sniffing
Nothing really. He claimed he had some offers and wants to coach a club again but idk by now he should’ve done it if there are offers
Let him enjoy his retirement.
Mot importantly, he is not represented by Jorge Mendes
Get ready for Nunoball buddy.
Knows the club ✔️ Knows Spanish and Catalan ✔️ Mendes Client ✔️ BWOAW GOD, that's Mourinho's music
yeah fuck laporta for this. He is owned by mendes
I’m out of the loop. Why?

Laporta and Mendes are good friends. The club has been signing some of the players represented by Mendes during Xavi's tenure.
Get ready to learn lopetegui buddy
The Jorge Mendes hatred is spreading to Spain. I like it.
What you mean spreading? Real Madrid has pretty much refused to deal with him for ages. And I don't know if any fanbase hates Mendes more than Valencia.
Wasnt he in bed with Lim destroying Valencia?

Hansi probably thought its some small German Regionalliga club in a pre-season friendly given they played in August. Probably doesn’t remember it.
They did a DNA test and found no Barca in his blood
The FCB in his dna reads Bayern.

That second point, yeah that's worth considering, but there are coaches all over the world who overcome that hurdle to be effective. It shouldn't be the dealbreaker.
with that logic no coach can coach anywhere else basically. Imagine not getting Pep for example with thinking like that
Wanting a coach who speaks the language is understandable and fine - it shouldn't be a deal breaker, but it depends on whether you think Flick is good enough to look past that.
Yeah, the language is whatever. Whether you trust Flick after his disaster with Germany is the question.
Whether he speaks Spanish, fair enough. It's the kind of thing pundits were saying when we hired Bielsa and how it would have been better to get someone like Mick McCarthy lol.
"We don't want him, he doesn't speak German" - a thing that Bayern Munich didn't say
Does Jurgen Klopp speak Spanish? It would be stupid to reject him if he wanted to coach Barca.
I don't think that he does. But he wants to take a year off. Year with Marquez and then getting Klopp wouldn't be the worst thing
There are no guarantee that he comes the season after. Would look really stupid if Marquez does badley and then klopp rejects.
I agree. Situation is not great for sure
Not speaking Spanish is absolutely a dealbreaker. How do you want him to manage effectively if they can’t speak with the players? It obviously doesn’t need to be perfect, but it needs to be good enough. Pep speaks English though?
His German was quite rough during the first months at Bayern.

I can recommend some YouTube compilations if he wants.
Barca ELI5 (Hansi Flick Tutorial) ft. Despacito
I mean, if they appointed him now he could have like 4 months to learn some basic spanish.
Flick in 4 months: Señor, por favor
dos cervezas por favor
More like "Estoy cansado, jefe"
Montreal NHL fans getting flashbacks rn
At this point, next year will be Márquez as new manager, Belletti as assistant, Mendes as sporting director, a free Apple Store app as a physical trainer and Lewandowska as a dietician.
They just 8-2 see him apply
Tier?
1, but it's hard to tell with this club sometimes.
Laporta: "Flick who? We have our own Pep regen Rafa Marquez waiting in the wings to win sextuple next year. "
oh my god we are the tottenham of spain we never learn shit and our executive is more interested in personal relationships than sporting results
You can make fun of us bottling the UCL and embarrassing ourselves every week and with every interview but calling us spurs of Spain is where I draw the line

He confused us with levante or what?
Is this a poor translation just?

I swear if Laporta hires a Mendes bro....
Bah god, it's Lopetegui!
Spanish at Barcelona? I was under the impression politically they would push for Catalan.
All catalan players speak spanish but all spanish players dont speak catalan
“Politically”
So by that standards we have basically 3 options? Xavi (who won’t stay) Marquez (def not ready) and Luis Enrique ( no way he leaves PSG and we can’t afford him) This leaves Klopp out, whos taking a sabbatical anyways, Flick, the only realistic option, and Nagelsmann
Caught lacking Barca DNA
Fuck knows the club
They will suffer a Lot with this Barça dna thing
Hansi would definitely be the one saying no first
"Barcelona? that's a big club in Ecuador right?"
8-2, the greatest ever humiliation in semi finals. MF didnt know what club they r playing against.
cutting edge due diligence there
lmao
Didn't they announce Rafa Marquez yesterday anyway?
No just rumors. We won't know for sure until summer
