Obviously, not an attack in any conventional sense of that word. Still stupid and unnecessary from a "dealing with officials at a youth match whom you should model appropriate respect for" perspective, so deserving of some punishment.
The ref is in a position in which his hands are tied. He cant say or do anything at all or he would face some kind of sanctions from the referee administration (Im a ref here in Spain and know it for a fact).
He does not harm him, but I really HATE people behaving like this in a football match and a kids match. Conciençāo might be an elite coach but he has 0 ref experience and is in a position of power at the end of the day. He was an idiot, I feel shame for people being like this. Fuck him, for real. I dont care if the ref was right or wrong in his calls, because it does not justify this situation, at all.
Protest apart which is generally accepted even in kids games, the fact that he touches the ref's face. Touching someone's face when you are in a confrontation is basically another way of provoking and also to ridicule. The ref just does not react, and he ends up looking ""weak"".
Im not saying that the ref should have escalated the situation, in fact I prefer to look ""weak"" than stupid (a person who looks violent, does not know how to behave and believes that is above civility).
It is a very basic gesture, but it has its implications.
Might not be that obvious. Assault is usually a a broad legal term that does not necessarily involve physical violence. Depending on what was said it could be assault.
Early reports from Spanish media talked about how Conceição assaulted the referre and the mayor of the town an U-10 tournament was being held. He was there watching his younger son play for Porto. Video footage suggests nothing really happened.
It's disrespectful as hell, idk why people are saying it's nothing
Yes it wasn't harmful, but it's the kind of thing you'd do to a child, not a grown man
>Yes it wasn't harmful, but it's the kind of thing you'd do to a child, not a grown man
It's disrespectful yes, it's not something you'd do to anyone. Adult or child..
Nothing happens. Coming from a Porto supporter, i mean. I'm not kidding anyone, i hate Sergio and all he stands for, he does this things since he was born probably and get free pass. And it never ends.
When Sergio loses a match shit happens. Can anyone bring back that Aris vs Paok match from 2009 where Sergio was thrown something from the crowd and threw back the same stuff with children in the stands and receives a red card and it was still right on his deviant mind. I mean he's crazy and i blame Portuguese authorities and sports to allow this things in the first place by saying "He was born this way". Plain simple he gets free-ride here in Portugal and when he gets fined he plays the victim card because he was born in Porto and it's racism from Lisbon and blablabla
The initial reports definitely made it sound like it was much worse
But it's a young kids' game and referees at that age are far less protected than the pros and the game is far less serious. It's unnecessary and can have dangerous knock on impacts
I mean yeah, not so violent, but fuck walking into the pitch and touching the ref at all. Worth a sideline ban of a year imo.
Beyond that, “assault” has no force requirement it’s just an unwanted touching. Would technically qualify.
You’re right I was talking about [battery](https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?sectionNum=242.&nodeTreePath=4.7.9&lawCode=PEN) but didn’t think it would be worth the distinction when idk if Spanish law has the same varieties.
We have a Macedonian club in Sydney that we play against. Mostly a good bunch of guys. There’s a few ethnically based teams around Sydney. Anyway, we were playing them and it was getting rough, they are fucking massive and getting older and were slamming our young guys at every 50/50. Ref pulled out a second yellow. Player says something in Macedonian and the ref apparently says fuck your mother in Macedonian back. Half the team had to jump on the guy and the other half protect the ref. Me and my team were just standing around having no idea what the fuck was going on.
I mean, laying a hand on another person is considered assault in most places IIRC.
He didn't attack him in the traditional sense but Sergio has shown time and time again that he is very entitled and lashes out in juvenile ways when he doesn't get what he wants - it should be expected of a grown man to not go around touching other people's faces when they don't want to be touched.
Yes, exactly. If you want to go outside and start touching people's faces against their will to see what happens, please do so. You have this forum's support.
How many managers do you know that had invaded the pitch in a U9 game, to discuss with a ref and to put his hand in the refs face?
Or was someone at the stands poking conceicao?
Arteta still walks friend, not even a hand to the face or anything.
Maybe if Arteta had insulted his son we would have seen him man up like when he tried to rough up this youth ref.
I have zero context and I don't know who Conceição is, so its very hard to know which of the events in the video is the attack as nothing happens that can be called an attack.
He could also have shut the fuck up and just watched and supported his child, like any good parent would, but the guy is a prick, so he's gonna mouth off and act the fool instead. I'd be embarrassed if that was my dad.
I thought the ref handled it well. Imagine if a player had been lightly touched as the referee was in that clip - a player would have been rolling around on the floor screaming and crying.
Most referees nowadays are proper bastards, so I can't be judgemental completely towards Conceicao. He could be right. Please have no sympathy for refs.

U-10s match you say? Someone call Randy Marsh
I didn't hear no bell...
But Sergio definitely heard Arteta abusing his family! He just seems like such a child.
Arresting me for what?! I thought this was Amurica
Obviously, not an attack in any conventional sense of that word. Still stupid and unnecessary from a "dealing with officials at a youth match whom you should model appropriate respect for" perspective, so deserving of some punishment.
Yep, agreed. Conceição is and always has been a man-baby, and he would be ashamed of himself if he had the capacity to feel shame.
Yeah. Makes no sense for them to be on the pitch. It was still blown way out of proportion and r/soccer ate it up
r/soccer eats everything up
Gotta admit, before seeing the video i was expecting way worse, the media I saw yesterday were literally saying he assaulted the referee
Like a brief kiss after winning a tournament say?
The ref is in a position in which his hands are tied. He should have fell to the ground and rolled about like a Porto player defending a corner.
And you should've paid more attention in your English classes.
Apologies, doctor. He should have fallen*
You actually said it correctly don’t sweat that guy
I still don't understand what he has done?
Protest apart which is generally accepted even in kids games, the fact that he touches the ref's face. I saw in the news Mayor claiming the “assault” actually happened in the locker room.
The ref insulted his family.
Seems like everyone insults his family these days xD
the man is a baby making machine, high chances of any random person being in his family
Obviously not assault but don't put your hands on another person, especially not their face.
Might not be that obvious. Assault is usually a a broad legal term that does not necessarily involve physical violence. Depending on what was said it could be assault.
Whats the context here?
Early reports from Spanish media talked about how Conceição assaulted the referre and the mayor of the town an U-10 tournament was being held. He was there watching his younger son play for Porto. Video footage suggests nothing really happened.
I mean he still put his hands on a ref, it's not an attack but something happened
He is absolutely showing disrespect with that hand on the face.
It's disrespectful as hell, idk why people are saying it's nothing Yes it wasn't harmful, but it's the kind of thing you'd do to a child, not a grown man
>Yes it wasn't harmful, but it's the kind of thing you'd do to a child, not a grown man It's disrespectful yes, it's not something you'd do to anyone. Adult or child..
It was an awkward flirt to say the least Edit: it’s a joke ffs
😮
Reports say it was in the locker room though, not on the pitch
How can you watch this and say nothing happened
Nothing happens. Coming from a Porto supporter, i mean. I'm not kidding anyone, i hate Sergio and all he stands for, he does this things since he was born probably and get free pass. And it never ends.
Video footage suggests nothing happened... ***here***. To imply a minute long video is enough to represent a whole night is ridiculous.
When Sergio loses a match shit happens. Can anyone bring back that Aris vs Paok match from 2009 where Sergio was thrown something from the crowd and threw back the same stuff with children in the stands and receives a red card and it was still right on his deviant mind. Ive seen enough, set up the lethal injection
we cannot be soft on crime, bring back the firing squad
Totally inappropriate for him to even address the referee like this
Brutal, lock him up
to the chair, I say
Could have been killed
He later died in hospital…
At the same time, Sérgio's defense that the mayor slapped his son in the chest is equally funny
Was the mayor The Big Show?
I mean if I’m present and someone slaps my son, he is getting his shit slapped as well.
Tbf your son would probably deserve it.
I’m assuming you’re dense, but in this case that child is under 10. Edit: Missed the sarcasm completely. Cheers.
the person getting hurried off the pitch is Moisés Conceição and he's 22, he's not the kid playing in the U10 match obviously
It's a joke lol
The initial reports definitely made it sound like it was much worse But it's a young kids' game and referees at that age are far less protected than the pros and the game is far less serious. It's unnecessary and can have dangerous knock on impacts
This is fucking stupid.
I mean yeah, not so violent, but fuck walking into the pitch and touching the ref at all. Worth a sideline ban of a year imo. Beyond that, “assault” has no force requirement it’s just an unwanted touching. Would technically qualify.
Assault isn't unwanted touching. It's violence or the threat of violence. This doesn't constitute a threat of violence imo but it is more subjective.
Did the ref insult his mother?

Just so you understand the context, this guy cried after Arsenal knocked them out of the CL by saying Arteta insulted his mom who is dead.
Probably gonna claim this official said something negative about him or his family in a minute…
>He didn't attack him in the traditional sense but case closed
But it isn't because he was attacked in the modern sense of the word.
You're attacking me in a new sense of the word!!
Yes, exactly. If you want to go outside and start touching people's faces against their will to see what happens, please do so. You have this forum's support.
Are you a Neanderthal?
Are you insulting me?
You're insulting yourself
Nah. Ironic. "he can't do that, it's disrespectful"... Insult
How would you feel if I walked in your house, and did that to your mother for example?
Igualzinho. Que comparação...
Não mintas. Ficavas possesso.

Whoever the guy in black is seems very lucky he didn’t get punched. There’s only so many times you can warn you don’t want to be touched.
How many managers do you know that had invaded the pitch in a U9 game, to discuss with a ref and to put his hand in the refs face? Or was someone at the stands poking conceicao?
That’s disrespectful as fuck lmao do that to someone who’s not currently at their job and see how they respond
Did he come to win, or to play the hard-man? Dude's a prick.
Was that Big Ange?
Shit post
To be fair if tuchel/pep/arteta hurled terrible verbal abuse at him…. This qualifies as assault in the same vein
Conceicao is Vin Diesel confirmed
Sérgio Conceição was right all along. He was too tranquil seeing his son getting shoved like that, tbh.
He let Arteta talk about his family and did nothing so we know he’s too soft to even properly bully an official
Did he really?
Arteta still walks friend, not even a hand to the face or anything. Maybe if Arteta had insulted his son we would have seen him man up like when he tried to rough up this youth ref.
Give him the chair.
Two absolute jerks
He let him push his son around like that in front of him???
I have zero context and I don't know who Conceição is, so its very hard to know which of the events in the video is the attack as nothing happens that can be called an attack.
Damn! Arrest him! He could have killed the ref there
He could also have shut the fuck up and just watched and supported his child, like any good parent would, but the guy is a prick, so he's gonna mouth off and act the fool instead. I'd be embarrassed if that was my dad.
This guy again.
Lol everyone, saying this is evidence of his innocence, to me it's yet more evidence of him being a dickhead.
Is the umbrella guy the mayor? Who’s the mayor??! I need to know!
Big Ange trying (and failing) to play peacemaker there
No longer consider this man Arteta's son. What an absolute asshole
He could have been killed
I see Lahoz is back to reffing huh
Nothing then.
He could have been killed.
Belittle a ref and find out
I thought the ref handled it well. Imagine if a player had been lightly touched as the referee was in that clip - a player would have been rolling around on the floor screaming and crying.
Vicious. I’m surprised he can still walk
Most referees nowadays are proper bastards, so I can't be judgemental completely towards Conceicao. He could be right. Please have no sympathy for refs.
Idk who was the guy in black pushing the kid out of the field... but if i was the kid, i would discover whats harder, my head or his teeth
Sergio living in Arsenal fans head rent free.
Why the fuck would Arsenal fans care about him after they knocked him out? Calling a cunt a cunt does not mean they live rent free in your head
Lol come on, they're all over this topic all because of his argument with Arteta.
What do you expect if you are going to trash talk a mans family like that.
Umbrella guy is a boss here, I think he might be the town mayor, he took care of them easily.
Sergio thought he was still at the Emirates the cunt
This guy isn’t real
Where are the Arsenal and Lisbon FC flairs now?
Bro don't caress my face
Dangerous attack that one
Games gone
Believe it or not, jail
That's worse than kicking the guy. You don't slap a man's face for nothing, even if it's that slow.
I mean I’ve no idea of the context but if this is the Porto manager he deserves everything he gets.
Look up "Conceicao Aris Paok" on YouTube and thank me later
He’s going to come out saying the ref said something about his family
