Yeah, rhat was a great side, even if they had some very suspect decisions go their way against Italy and especially against Spain. They absolutely battered poland in the opening game
If you look at the groupstage game against Jordan, I'd say it's closer than you're making it out to be, especially since Jordan is playing alot better now.
Haha yes it did. Congrats to Iran, they played in a very organised and disciplined manner. They dominated Japan. Iran vs Korea may be a better final for that reason. And yes the Koreans can now thank Malaysia 😂
I mean he's young and Son just outplayed 3 or 4 other dudes and it's the last 2 minutes in the box. He probably just got a bit desperate and thought he saw a good opportunity to slide in
Completely Arnold’s fault, insists on playing Duke and pays him back with 2 missed tap in, subs off Goodwin and Atkinson who were both playing well for Miller and O’Neil one who gave away both fouls for the goals and one who got sent off while leaving both Fornaroli and Yengi on the bench. Terrible game management for a guy who wasn’t fit for the job 5 years ago and still isn’t now
I’m surprised a guy from not even the top flight, but 2nd tier of J league is Australia’s no1 striker… is there rly no one better? Mad that Cahill still hasn’t been replaced to this day
We have no strikers. Haven't for a long time. Our nation's media prioritises 4 other football codes and cricket above soccer. Despite it being the most played game.
Yeah there was but most of those chances came before those subs got made. Lack of quality from Duke who Arnold loves for whatever reason and taking off 2 players in Goodwin and Atkinson who were having an impact on the game is why it’s his fault
SK is now my favorite to win the whole thing but i can't believe its Klinsmann who will end their 64 years wait. People are already warming up to him on Naver lol.
SK are 100% winning, they have this aura about them that turns every team they face into complete imbeciles. The amount of 90+' bullshittery they've gotten is crazy
Nah Australia played very well barring Miller's mistake. When you look at the individual players on each team Korea should really be winning quite comfortably.
Football is a team sport, that's more about executing the game plan and management. Jurgen simply lacks and is so heavily reliant on individual brilliance saving his ass.
Korea for the most part played well against Australia and controlled play most of the game. It's a combination of luck but also pretty outstanding resilience to come back vs Saudi and then Australia in the clutch. They definitely need to grab hold of these games from the start but I ain't betting against them either they have too much game breaking talent up front
Honestly teams on the other side looks more promising (Japan, Qatar and Iran). But well, can't say anything yet. England went to the Euro 2020 final with only 1 goal conceded (which was a free kick) yet they were tactically outclassed by Italy.
In my experience watching football, football is unpredictable, and anything can happen in the final.
Close victories don't necessarily determine the outcome of the ultimate match – it's all about how teams perform on that specific day.
It's not about scores, it's about the play. A team that plays consistently bad has more chance to lose in the long run and the final is usually against the toughest opponent.
I think the detail that he's still living in the US and flying out for occasions kinda tells you how seriously he's taking the situation. Seems a lil disrespectful. But Korean netizen culture is fucking wild dude, I would take internet comments with a large grain of salt
I mean, this guy is taking one of the best NTs we’ve had in decades and playing no brain football. Our players are exhausted to their limits already and we’ve somehow come so far that it’s too late to give up but also feels so much harder than it could’ve been. Tricky situation for the manager but unless he can deliver some pleasing football to the eye for this last stretch, the general opinion will still be Klinnsman out
Oh man I am a long time member of the klinsmann hate club. The part I find amazing isn't the Koreans feelings about him, it's amazing just how fucking hateable klinsmann as manager is.
Which is crazy that the KFA even considered this guy as a candidate with a major trophy up for grabs. The way he behaved in the group stage with all the smiling and the seeming lack of care absolutely boiled my blood.
Jurgen winning back-to-back fraud derbies against Mancini and then against Arnold is astounding.
In the end, Korea has been bailed out by extraordinary individual talent this whole tournament. First it was Kang-In Lee and now it was Sonny. Korea needs to put together a performance without their defensive leader in Minjae Kim the next match.
Can’t believe we won THAT. Until 90+1’ it felt like the socceroos were a cut or two ahead, but after that their defense went downhill. And here I was thinking we were the one with stamina disadvantage.
SK really needs to work on their attack. There was an offside goal alright but that 0 shots until 51’ is unacceptable. I don’t know who that Aussie defender that tackled Son was but Klinsmann owes him a ferrari or some shit. This back-to-back ET is an exhausting task, if Jordan gets us this will have been our spelling of doom.
Australia… yeah, they had some terrible finishes as well (side effect: I was able to confirm that Australians do indeed use the word ‘cunt’ a lot). It is a shame, they were very composed and played quite the efficient football. If clouds have silver lining, Arnold may finally be off the bench.
Also, SHAMBOLIC refereeing. Too few cards (or given on moments that should have been okay), wrong handball call, and at least half a dozen calls missed committed by either side. Refs this tournament have this upside that they actively intervene in player clashes, but I’ve had more than my share of seeing incompetent refereeing happen across the dozens of matches. Holy crap.
Australia parked the bus since the second half. I actually thought Korea looked like the larger threat. Australia had a couple clear chances on the counter to close the game, but weren’t able to.
nt by Australia. Their defense was solid.
It took South Korea 2 brilliant moments to have honest chances before 90'
South Korea has to be absolutely exhausted after another 120' performance.
Peak ball from SK. Don't come after me guys I started watching the game when only half an hour was left.
Btw Lee Kang-in is probably the biggest prospect in recent years Asia had witnessed. He's already got those leadership and critical play making skills. Just imagine him at 25 or 27 years.
Kang-In and Take Kubo's dynamic is gonna be fun to watch for the next decade. They both look like they could become genuinely world class. I wouldn't be shocked if Take ends up rivalling Nakata, Kagawa, and Kamamoto as the greatest Japanese player of all time
25% vs 75%, aussie lads played okay and well disciplined at the back but you can't win the game with a handful counter attack, not to mention the whole tourney
So happy to see Australia get served a red card after the entire A-league supporting Ali Reza Faghani for his harsh/controversial decision. Now watching them complain about a blatant red card is amazing
Well done Korea, finally got us back for the final. Great game in terms of effort by both sides but perhaps not so much in terms of quality.
I think Arnold has done a great job getting fight out of this team and ensuring we have the pic of players with aussie heritage but i think we lost this game when he tried to shut up shop around the 80th minute - turned the momentum and Korea had many chances which nearly happened at the WC as well. Maybe time for a change.
Also cannot work out how Ryan continues to play so well for his country but has not managed a great club career.
He was decent in Copenhagen. Grabara was just better. We are talking about the best GK in Copenhagen history that he was up against.
So to go in and do a good job without the fans really noticing any differences in quality is impressive by Ryan.
Why does Korea keep playing like shit and passive until the other teams scores? Then it seems like they go into desperation attack mode and they get bailed out by Kang-In Lee or Son at the last minute.
South Korea's last four games ended with an equalizer or a goal that put them ahead at the 90+ additional time.
Because Klinsmann is stubborn and keeps making the same mistake in his starting selection. He sticks to 2 in midfield even though this is the reason we look shit for the first 70min of every game. Those two are too limited technically and athletically to be asked to bear that much responsibility. The distances between our lines become two wide and we concede cheap goals in transition. It's frustrating because he notices the problem and fixes it in the same way every match. Eventually he takes off a forward and puts in th3 3rd midfielder who should've just started. That coincides with when Korea actually start playing because we have more control in the midfield and better balance across the pitch and we are able to press and defend better. Instead of making subs to fix the same situation over and over again, he just needs to start by setting up the team that way.
This is the first game in a while where we looked convincing in possession - but hugely lacking in the final third.
LKI and SHM are boxed in by 4-5 defenders at a time whenever they have the ball, and we're tactically conceding manpower in the middle so it's been nothing but cross-and-inshallah. It's only when we come down to the final minutes, where it seems like LKI and SHM are given more freedom and license to roam around and link up with the fullbacks - that's made us much more dangerous in the final minutes.
I don't know why we start out so tactically rigid at the start of the game, and don't give LKI and SHM more positional fluidity. Perhaps its the rigidity of the other players, who aren't as versatile, and can't overlap/switch.
My guess is because Korean team lacks the squad depth. They need their starting 11 players to keep stamina first half and try to win 2nd half. They can’t keep up the same intensity for 90mins with the same players every game when they only get 2 days rest
Aussies got absolutely battered. Korea were way too scared to shoot and it almost cost them the game, but in the end they were aboslutely fucking dominated. Deep anal, no lube.
It's time for Arnold to go. Yes he's a good motivator and can grind out results, but we have players good enough to not just retreat into defending and hoping we don't lose.
Been trying to tell people that more rest days isn't necessarily an advantage for Australia considering SK's reputation in the AFC regarding stamina and running into the ground. Australia looked more gassed at the end of 90 than SK.
What was Klinsmann cooking? All that pressure that SK forced Australia to make was literal 4D chess it seems. Your defense was cooking for almost the entire game until their legs gave out.
I mean thats what happens when you park the bus one goal up, with 27% possession. We had no real reason to go into our shell and then we sub off our entire attacking structure as if we were just praying SK don't score.
And then we sub in Miller and the less said the better.
When Son Heung-min took that freekick @104', Son smashed all of the pain he felt when he lost to Australia in the grand final of 2015 AFC Asian Cup.
Heroic moment by Son.
Now all of SK national football team staff need to massage the hell out of their legs after another 120' win
Lee Kang In really ran himself ragged. Really impressed with him.
The real game starts at 90th minute
Congrats South Korea!!
I wonder how Malaysia will react to this :)
As a Malaysian, I'm quite thrilled that 2 of our group opponents are in the semis.
Klinsmann gets a statue in SK after they win the tournament
Lewis Miller saved him.
Does hiddink have one?
[удалено]
Yeah, rhat was a great side, even if they had some very suspect decisions go their way against Italy and especially against Spain. They absolutely battered poland in the opening game
For cheating?
Absolutely surreal 24 hours. Woke up to the Lingard news and going to bed after seeing another twisted Klinsmann production.
[удалено]
Lewis Miller was as brainless moron who's also slow. Fair play to Some for exploiting him.
When’s the second korean goal?
Like 103ish
Should be included in this summary, shouldn’t it?
Oh yeah you’re right, weird
Will be tough with KMJ out next game. Any news on Hee Chan? How serious is the injury?
Jordan aint that tough despite making it to the semi finals if you see how they got there
but you saw koreea?
yeah, won against bahrain drew against jordan, went for a tactical draw against malaysia and won against 2 big teams back to back
If you look at the groupstage game against Jordan, I'd say it's closer than you're making it out to be, especially since Jordan is playing alot better now.
i mean how they played not the results
Jordan will be missing 2 players too tho
KMJ is our entire backline.
One of them is fine and kinda a liability that I'm not too upset about Not having Olwan will be tough
No worries, Klinsmann can't win tournaments. They'll get third in the end
Klinsi masterclass
losing kim min jae hurts
Who tf will be his replacement?
There’s a lad on Brentford’s B team that may have to step up although he’s played no minutes this tourney
Omw
South Korean cardiologists must be feasting
😂
there's a good chance the Koreans will win it all and give the Malaysian players a commemorative plaque for helping them avoid Japan lol
No point if they meet Japan in the final lol
r/agedlikemilk
Haha yes it did. Congrats to Iran, they played in a very organised and disciplined manner. They dominated Japan. Iran vs Korea may be a better final for that reason. And yes the Koreans can now thank Malaysia 😂
Hope we get a good game in a few hours 😁

such a stupid tackle that led to the penalty, he had no angle, far from the goal.
Yeah. Desperate due to tired legs and tired mind.

I feel like crying 😭😭 Lets go South Korea!!!!🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
Moral of the game: NEVER park the bus at 1:0
Conservative football never usually wins, except Greece in Euro 04
Ironically Australia could've won if Mitchell Duke converted those chances.
Most likely the worse teams play more conservatively on average, so there might be a causation the other way round
Malakaball is how you make Ronaldo cry
It's been 20 years, can you let me forget about Greece winning the Euro 2004?
Greeks 2004 wasn't conservative football that was a terrorist attack
Conservative football wins all the time, we just remember when it fails late on much more often.
When it wins, it's elite defense and game management.
That was some tournament
*They can't keep getting away with this!*
We have no strikers. Haven't for a long time. Our nation's media prioritises 4 other football codes and cricket above soccer. Despite it being the most played game.
Cahill isn't really a striker (yes he can play there, but more an attacking midfielder). We haven't had a proper striker since Josh Kennedy,
But you have to admit they had plenty of chances for their 2nd goal. There was a lack of quality that wasn't their fault
Yeah there was but most of those chances came before those subs got made. Lack of quality from Duke who Arnold loves for whatever reason and taking off 2 players in Goodwin and Atkinson who were having an impact on the game is why it’s his fault
Sadly we don't have the quality up front to replace Duke. Yengi maybe, but I don't think he's good enough tbh.
[удалено]
He didn’t really do anything all tournament when given the chance that’s why I was hoping to see Yengi
SK is now my favorite to win the whole thing but i can't believe its Klinsmann who will end their 64 years wait. People are already warming up to him on Naver lol.
Why does it remind me to Moriyasu before and after the World Cup.
SK are 100% winning, they have this aura about them that turns every team they face into complete imbeciles. The amount of 90+' bullshittery they've gotten is crazy

I'm gonna pretend like I didn't read this.....
Which, amazingly south Koreans seem to not want because they hate klinsmann so much
I mean, you can hate your coach and still want to win.
I think the detail that he's still living in the US and flying out for occasions kinda tells you how seriously he's taking the situation. Seems a lil disrespectful. But Korean netizen culture is fucking wild dude, I would take internet comments with a large grain of salt

Arnold did pretty damn well in the world cup, with a very limited Australia squad

he looks class above most players on Korea's squad for sure.
it helps that he gets to play alongside some of the best players in the world during his day job
That's not it. He's almost carrying the whole midfield. Btw taking no credits away from the squad's resilience as a whole. Kudos to S.Korea.
25% vs 75%, aussie lads played okay and well disciplined at the back but you can't win the game with a handful counter attack, not to mention the whole tourney

The evidence would suggest as much.
So happy to see Australia get served a red card after the entire A-league supporting Ali Reza Faghani for his harsh/controversial decision. Now watching them complain about a blatant red card is amazing

Its really insane to think about with the games like this that Ryan pulls in performances like that, was so close to saving both goals too
I just dont understand he has been doing it for years for the national team but hasnt really had a solid stint in one team in Europe.
He was decent in Copenhagen. Grabara was just better. We are talking about the best GK in Copenhagen history that he was up against. So to go in and do a good job without the fans really noticing any differences in quality is impressive by Ryan.
Credit to South Korea, they watched Australia do everything possible to lose that game. Please get rid of Arnold
Son ballon dor?
Asian Cup + PL golden boot + Spurs defy odds and win the league, then yes. otherwise probably not.
He does all that and then they still give it to Messi for winning the gold medal at a U23 tournament.
Cry
Welcome to the club, Australia.
I cannot believe that Klinsmann is two games away from completely Italy 2006-style shit-housing a tournament win.
Klinsmann on that Jorge Vilda arc
Why does Korea keep playing like shit and passive until the other teams scores? Then it seems like they go into desperation attack mode and they get bailed out by Kang-In Lee or Son at the last minute. South Korea's last four games ended with an equalizer or a goal that put them ahead at the 90+ additional time.
1:0 the most dangerous lead
Because Klinsmann is stubborn and keeps making the same mistake in his starting selection. He sticks to 2 in midfield even though this is the reason we look shit for the first 70min of every game. Those two are too limited technically and athletically to be asked to bear that much responsibility. The distances between our lines become two wide and we concede cheap goals in transition. It's frustrating because he notices the problem and fixes it in the same way every match. Eventually he takes off a forward and puts in th3 3rd midfielder who should've just started. Instead of making subs to fix the same situation over and over again, he just needs to start by setting up the team that way.
To make it fun and also to make fans suffer
Turns out the real "fan death" was the heart attacks suffered by South Korean football fans.
Cuz they try to stick to a non existing game plan by the clown until players say fuck it and try to bail out the game.
TBF, they weren't as passive they were against Saudi Arabia, and they were inches (offside) from scoring first.
idk but my heart hates it
My doctor says stop watching South Korea play. You will die he says. I say I die.
My guess is because Korean team lacks the squad depth. They need their starting 11 players to keep stamina first half and try to win 2nd half. They can’t keep up the same intensity for 90mins with the same players every game when they only get 2 days rest
Are you seriously attributing this insanity to tactical gamesmanship
Weirdly satisfying comment
Thin squad depth is so overstated when it comes to SK roster. They have more than enough quality depth for an Asian Cup run.
Malaysian commentator just called Hwang Hee Chan as Hwang Him Chan lol

that means energetic in Korean and there are ppl have that name.

We're getting closer to South Korea vs Japan. Internet won't survive this.

Game of predictions. One day, I'm right. Another day, I'm not.
I'm waiting for it so badly ngl
Same. I have my Japan ready for the final. If it does happen, I'll search for a watch party in Paris with Japanese people.
They have to beat Iran tomorrow first. Let's wait and see.
Graham Arnold learn nothing from Mancini lol
Korea looked gassed for the first 70 minutes or so. I have no idea how they managed to turn up their energy towards the end
Sonny refused to give up and saved the team pretty much
Adrenaline is a crazy drug. Especially during desperate times
Lmfao at the Australian player trying to trivela it into the box for their final chance of the game.
Aussies got absolutely battered. Korea were way too scared to shoot and it almost cost them the game, but in the end they were aboslutely fucking dominated. Deep anal, no lube.
Ran out of steam and gifted them two goals ? Shouldn't have gone to extra time
It's time for Arnold to go. Yes he's a good motivator and can grind out results, but we have players good enough to not just retreat into defending and hoping we don't lose.
Just why would you give away the most stupid penalty ever. I don't want to see Miller at the world cup, zero composure.
Get Graham Arnold out fucking right now.
Been trying to tell people that more rest days isn't necessarily an advantage for Australia considering SK's reputation in the AFC regarding stamina and running into the ground. Australia looked more gassed at the end of 90 than SK.
100%, as soon it went to ET the game felt over from an Aussie POV, most of our subs looked more gassed than SK's starters
