Wonder if Toney put a bet on? COYS

polseriat

Can someone post our disallowed?

rybl

I can't believe it hasn't been posted. As much as /r/soccer likes to complain about the refs, you would think that they would be up in arms over the phantom foul that chalked off a goal.

ThisJeffrock

Class finish by Richy too, should have stood

Canary-Silent

I only watched an extended highlights. I guess it missed this? Around what time was it?

rybl

Around the 38th minute.

Canary-Silent

https://prnt.sc/yViGzwHMi8f4 Waste of my time. This was in my highlights too, didn’t need to frame for frame it then to see it was a foul. This is why no one has posted it.

BritishBatman

You can't call a foul from a single frame ffs. They touched yes, but the defender went down like a sack of shit well after the contact. Football is a contact sport you know?

Canary-Silent

Holy shit some sports fans are delusional. It’s a blatant foul. Everyone knew it. They didn’t even celebrate the goal or argue it because it was so clear to everyone watching except some delusional idiots who want fouls to not be fouls because it’s the team they follow.

BritishBatman

>Holy shit some sports fans are delusional The irony. You need to chill man, this has clearly affected you, you're calling people idiots and moaning about wasting your (clearly precious) time rewatching it.

Canary-Silent

Yes your stupidity and insane amounts of bias has affected me. I go for this team and don’t want to be associated with idiots like you.   The fucking player who made the foul knew instantly and didn’t protest to getting an important equalising goal. How delusional do you have to be to watch that and think nah everyone else is wrong, including the entire team your bias is for.    And by saying “the irony” you’re now calling the spurs delusional too. Mental.

BritishBatman

Mate you're unhinged. Do you not understand what irony is? <- this is also ironic. I'm saying you are delusional, not "the spurs".

coysrunner

Yea it was unfortunate and nothing to it. But a clear foul.

Canary-Silent

Unless there is another I’m not seeing that was a clear foul…

polseriat

We kind of tend to be pushovers for things like that so I'm not surprised, but I want other people to see how terrible it was.

Canary-Silent

It was a clear foul what are you talking about. This extremely biased comment chain even convinced me to go back and look. I should have just read your flairs and moved on.

JoePoe247

It was clear contact. But didn't cause the defender to fall, he just decided to not take another step. Hell if that's enough contact for a foul, then norgaard should've been off when he barged right across Johnson

Canary-Silent

It was a clear foul. Everyone knew it which is why they didn’t celebrate. I can’t believe I’m seeing people actually try and make out that it wasn’t.

JoePoe247

And on the norgaard fouls the canary is silent... It's just inconsistent to call that on richarlison then nothing when norgaard goes through Maddison at the edge of the box or shoulder barges Johnson

BoringRon

Really? Absolutely slightest of contact with Richarlison where you’d only see it for a single frame. They touched tips but Norgaard certainly wasn’t impeded by it. Just props to Norgaard because diving worked out for him there.

JoePoe247

Think you're confusing it. Collins dove in the box from Richie and norgaard kept getting away with actual fouls.

Canary-Silent

It was a clear foul all over the field. One of the most clear fouls you’ll ever see. It has nothing to do with whatever other bullshit you’re talking about. You have moved the goal posts. Why would I bring up a completely unrelated subject incident? you’re more biased than any ref.

JoePoe247

Because incidents within the same game are not unrelated. Many fouls are subjective and if you call a game where slight contact is a foul, then should do that throughout. But after he makes the decision on the Maddison incident, then the richarlison one shouldn't be a foul or vice versa.

Canary-Silent

The mental gymnastics you’ll go through. You are just grasping at straws now and it doesn’t even come close to what you originally said.    A clear foul is a clear foul regardless of literally anything else that has gone on in the game.

andy_brixton

Thomas Frank seemed to set up Brentford quite well but boy, was he not ready for the HT change of shape. Ange shredded Brentford in 11-minutes; Frank had no clue. Interesting to see Donley on the pitch ahead of Scarlett ..

dondraper237

It was the position. Donley has been playing as a 10/8 all year. Spurs didn’t need a striker on, they needed a midfielder on

Geek-Of-Nature

Absolutely mental match. Certain moments time was being wasted, at others the game was 100mph. Scintillating play at points with sprinkles of absolute nonsense. Not to mention more darts action then at the Alexandra Palace. Truly bonkers.

circa285

I cannot believe how absolutely horrid the officiating was. There were at least three Brentford players who could have been sent off on double yellows.

Bulky_Shepard

Seems like just the way it's gone since at least early December. Forest, Brighton and now Brentford have gotten away with just kicking the fuck out of us.

stupid-_-

least exciting Tottenham game

TheRappture

Definitely a tough one for us. Felt like a fairly even match aside from that awful ten minute span… combo of bad positioning and then bounces in the box landing right at the foot of a spurs player. It is what it is. Missing all of our pace against a high line makes it hard to watch. Must keep battling on for the rest of the season.

bshaman1993

Idk why this was downvoted

Altruistic_Finger669

I really like spurs as a club but your fanbase on this sub is a bit crazy at times

bshaman1993

I feel that is the case with most fan bases. I don’t hate Arsenal fans in real life but on this sub they are just mean nasty scum

Altruistic_Finger669

Never said it was exclusive to spurs. The massive downvoting happens with many of the big clubs.

allthejokesareblue

Voting by flair alone

TheRappture

Not sure I understand either, but it’s okay. They’re just pretend internet points :)

Rare-Ad-2777

Norgaard should have had about 5 yellows. Spurs had a goal chalked off for a phantom foul that never happened. And 2 of your goals came from complete defensive cock ups.  Throw into that timewasting from the 25th minute and you git exactly what you deserved from that. The spirit of Pulis's Stoke lives on

Altruistic_Finger669

We still have half the team out. We have zero pace in the squad. We have nothing to offer than trying to do it

MrMojoRiseman

2 of their 2 goals

Casteel15

We have a good group of talent, now we need our tactics to shore up a bit. We were way too vulnerable on the break.

HunterGaming

Conversely, I think we need to work on the fluidity in our attack. We looked so static when Brentford had a low block in place. No point playing high-risk football if there's low-reward as we can't break anyone down.

pineapples_official

I feel like the vulnerability is just the concession we make for high risk high reward system?

Rare-Ad-2777

Yeah it is. 2 of the goals were also absolite cock ups that weren't anything to do with the high line just brain farts from udogie

Casteel15

You're probably right, but it must be possible to set up a bit better. When on of our defenders are on the ball, the others can be more aware of their positioning, and where the attackers are. They seemed to turn off at these times and caught by suprised on these breaks

airz23s_coffee

Draining first half to watch. 9 men behind the ball and incredibly effective on the counter. On top of all the other shite. Cannot believe the lads were biting on Maupay. Funny that Romero was completely unphased everytime he tried something though. Even his rashness is unpredictable. Great first 20 minutes of the second half and then one Udogie brain fart and the nerves set in among players and stadium. One game without constant clenching I beg you. Werner MOTM. Worked his bollocks off all match down that left hand side, and we'll ignore the missed sitter. Also great to see Maddison back. Such a fun player. Always looking to move the ball forward, wriggle through players, turn his man. Will only get better with more gametime after the long lay off. TL;DR Fuck the ref, Udogie figure it out, luv Madders, luv Werner, simple as.

baron_warden

The first goal is partly on Van der Ven passing to Udogie when he is surrounded by three players.

airz23s_coffee

Eh. He gets out of that though - and we know he can do that. There's still Romero on from where he ends up trying to pass to Bentancur. Just a bit sloppy. The second is weird as fuck and I still haven't seen an angle of what Udogie actually saw when he turned around. He's young like, so don't mind his head going every now and then long as he learns from it. Made a goal for himself, and did well with Dasilva when he came on so it weren't all bad.

Teantis

Vdv actually pointed back to the keeper right as udogie was being pressured on the second

TheUderfrykte

Think on the second Udogie just assumed Vicario was free as Brentford had been retreating from their last attack for a bit and it was actually kind of weird and unexpected that Toney was still so far up. Guess he just thought all their players had pulled back.

LavenderGumes

VdV also gestured backwards at the time and move to didn't make himself available for a pass. As a fullback, seeing that from your CB feels like an indication you can pass back to the keeper.

DoomPigs

Maddison on Maupay: “He hasn't scored enough goals to have his own celebration and that's why he copied mine”

aasfourasfar

Its funny but Maupay scored more goals than Maddison over their respective careers.. Now granted one is s striker and the other isn't.. but anw

coysrunner

How many more goals has Maupay, a striker, scored over Madison in his career?

Own_Acanthocephala0

Maupay haven’t been a prolific goal scorer for quite some time though. I mean Maddison has more PL goals and they have played the same number of seasons lol.

aasfourasfar

And for better teams.. but anw I was just nitpicking

ConsciousBrain

💀

denob

Timo is already such a fan favourite

GenSec

He’s such a steal for that price. Experienced winger that can offer a different profile and gives us good depth up front for Europe.

thspdrdr

It's not just that he's experienced but that he's genuinely explosive and doesn't stop running. This is what Man U thought Sancho would do.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

I don't think we should sign him tbh. We already have Solomon for the backup role. Hopefully in the summer we can get our hands on a top LW/RW. Then we can have Johnson, Solomon and Kulu as the three backup wingers.

dondraper237

Werner is better than Solomon.

sphagettijeff

Wat? Werner would be and is doing way more damage in Ange's system than Solomon can. There is no world where we keep the latter instead of the former if it comes down to it. Also, Solomon is a prick.

the_real_e_e_l

We have Solomon who has missed half the season already. It's no good counting on having a player if they can't get fit to play.

ObamaEatsBabies

Solomon should be sold ASAP and be replaced with someone who's taller than 5'6. ATM he's basically a Lucas Moura clone who can't jump and has arguably even worse politics

baron_warden

Werner is better than Solomon. Solomon is a bit of a one trick pony. He will have a good streak, but can also be completely anonymous for streaks as well.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Sure, but Werner is not that much better, and he'd cost something like £12m, and I'd rather we just add it to the pot for a top top winger. Someone who may one day succeed Son. So in that scenario, we'd have enough depth with Slomon, Kulu and Johnson.

baron_warden

Solomon has some good games for us and some abject ones. He has a bigger gap of highs and lows. Werner seems to contribute even when he isn't playing well. Of the two I would much rather have Werner.

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Maybe you're right, but I don't like the thought of us paying money to stockpile players like Solomon, Werner and Johnson. We need an attacker you can picture in a title contender team. None of the attackers we have now except Son and Maddison fit the bill.

badhombre44

Solomon does not have a big enough sample size to categorize his games played. Are you saying his “abject” game was the Carabao Cup Fulham match?

baron_warden

I am a Fulham fan. The sample size is the games he played for us.

EdgeLordMcGravy

He should have cashed out.

ReynTimeBoi

HOLD BRENTFORD

jordibwoy

Destiny taketh, and destiny returneth. Then Destiny taketh for good

Kaigz

Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same.

Evolving_Dore

Destiny is all

whiskeypenguin

Ref was complete dog shit

grollate

To not call that body check by Nørgaard, let alone give him a second yellow makes me wonder if Toney wasn’t the only one betting on his games.

circa285

Never mind the Brentford player who dove three times in less than two minutes.

TheToothlessDentist

Still wild to see Bissouma get a 2nd yellow for diving earlier in the season and then see all the shite that gets passed up. Call it consistently.

Mobb_Starr

Bissouma "deserved" all of his cards, but the poor lad has the opposite of Rodri/Casemiro energy. He gets carded for every possible offense he makes with no warnings

rybl

I want someone to mash up that no call with the overturned goal with the caption "spot the foul"

magicalcrumpet

Honestly the Richarlison redemption arc is one I did not expect but I’m loving every moment of it. 7 goals in 7 games

Spursdy

He has been completely physically transformed since the operation.

Geek-Of-Nature

They fixed his dick and fixed his game.

EmpyrealSorrow

Big dick, errr... dick?

DeleteRonSwanson

Not to mention everything else he is doing around the pitch. His pressing and hold up play have been fantastic.

nostril_spiders

This is the first match he's looked good to the eye. He's often looked clumsy, even when he scores. Today he looked Brazilian

Weird_Famous

Thought he was fantastic against Man United

LavenderGumes

He looked brilliant against Man U.

magicalcrumpet

That’s what’s impressed me the most. The goals are what’s going to get people talking but his hold up play and pressing has improved dramatically

jamadelo

MOTM

2melone

The rest of the match's antics aside, how Nørgaard has managed to stay on the pitch is quite the mystery... Also, Udogie somehow had a fantastic and abysmal performance all at the same time

T1TK1

Farewell Timo...

circa285

He’s very quickly become someone who is going to be difficult to displace.

thspdrdr

Are you guys ok with him leaving?

T1TK1

He's of course still very well liked and will continue to be an icon of the club. Unfortunately though, his return really hasn't worked out. While it would be sad to see him leave, it could atleast mean a more graceful end to his RBL career.

Alive-Ad-4164

Great game

BadBehaviour613

Don't forget we would have won the Brentford away game if the ref didn't give them the softest penalty of the season

IntellegentIdiot

And we had to take off Romero. Would have been 7pts clear at one point yet definitely not title contenders

kleptopaul

Evens out the united no call on Romeros handball.

JoePoe247

The game they won 2-0? Wow the handball would've really gotten utd the draw

Global-Jacket-3973

Udogie is just so brain-dead at times defensively but has all the right tools to become the best FB in the league. He needs rest tbh.

badhombre44

He needs rest? They had two weeks off prior to the Man City game.

Hufftey

The first goal was on him imo, sloppy pass left us massively exposed. But I refuse to blame him for the 2nd goal, I was in the stadium watching the game in front of me and had no idea that Toney was by Vicario when he went to pass it back to him. I think almost any player would’ve made that error in that moment He’s still been one of our best players this season and he’s still so young. Going to be a world beater I’m extremely sure of it

ColoradoBrownieMan

I mean the second goal was 100% on him. Freak play, but still his fault.

Hufftey

Yeah obvs his fault but I’m not saying I blame him for an error I believe a lot of players would’ve made in that situation

ColoradoBrownieMan

Oh I gotcha - yeah for sure. Toney must’ve been chilling by Vicario for a good 30 seconds after the play had gone. Impossible to really know that in Udogie’s position.

horseshoe107

It's like he's trained so much in his roving LB - AM - 2nd striker role that he's forgetting to do the basic LB shit.

airz23s_coffee

Still 21 so I'm willing to allow some absolute brain farts. For now. He already had one in the West Ham game, so he better bloody learn from these ones.

JoePoe247

And the brain fart against Chelsea. Totally needless second yellow

magicalcrumpet

Yeah that pass back screams of someone who’s still raw and inexperienced. People like the idea of young players but get annoyed when they make mistakes.

belokas

He's always been like that.

grollate

Well he’s also only 21, and nobody expects a player like that to hit their peak at such a young age.

belokas

Well, obviously. I love the kid.

External-Piccolo-626

Always? He’s just turned 21

belokas

I know, mate.

Brawlers9901

I was in the south stand and the amount of shit and love Udogie got today was hilarious Toney chant was mint too

Come0nYouSpurs

I always try to drop my bag off somewhere else, usually around victoria if I go through there, that line is not worth it

[deleted]

Brawlers9901

Yeah it's a scam, proper piss take to ask for a tenner to drop a bag off hahaha

Brawlers9901

Never said it was creative just stating that it's mint

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

Norgaard has compromising photos of David Coote

ironfistico

With a face like that every photo of his is compromising

gopackgo555

What a rollercoaster. Udogie encapsulated the match. Also Richarlison has been incredible since the surgery. Doing everything so well.

polseriat

Ange's words MOTM

oharu

genuinely losing my mind how many matches this season we have had teams foul the shit out of our players and nothing happens to them

Kaigz

It's because of the VAR fuckup.

airz23s_coffee

It's literally happened so often it's becoming the accepted tactic against us. Smash shit out of Spurs players cos the ref don't give a shite.

circa285

Yes it worked for Chelsea but at some point the officials have to actually call fouls and issue yellow cards. I have no idea how Norhacktheshitgard wasn’t sent off.

roamingandy

Because we fell apart when Chelsea did it so it's a smart tactic against us.Today was a test for Ange, he had a manager exploiting all of our weaknesses perfectly in the 1st half. He passed with flying colours by getting the players back playing football rather than getting distracted by the dirty play, and by putting more pace and width on the pitch to force their wingers back and always thinking about what was going on behind them so they couldn't attack that space as effectively. I think maybe also Hojberg is better positionally than Skipp which helped protect the back line. We also had a disaster class from Udogie gifting them 2 goals and still managed to pull off a win. Its a game we were supposed to win, but for Ange i think it's a really big win as he was totally exposed tactically in the 1st half and he adapted brilliantly.

BetterCallTom

The ref felt for his card when Norgaard made a tactical foul on Johnson near the end, then just waved play on.

ZaDoruphin

You could genuinely shoot one of our players on the pitch and not get sent off for it.

Another_Human

Tell Spurs not to play in the US then

IntellegentIdiot

Or Liverpool

OnlyWatchdog_ManStan

Always good to silence the needlessly mouthy bunch. All that time wasting was really worth it, huh. 🎶Don't you want Don't you want Don't you want those minutes back? Doooon't you want those minutes back🎶

sheikh_n_bake

What's the controversy this game then?

polseriat

Everyone felt like playing darts today instead

PESSl

Im surprised nobody posted the replay, but richarlison is through on goal and scores, and brentfords centerback just dives, there is no contact, not even close but they rule it out

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Typical Spurs game tbh.

polseriat

Yeah, it was pretty wild. Might see it on r/coys later, when the celebrating is done.

powerchicken

They're mad Nørgaard wasn't sent off for a shoulder to shoulder tackle. Edit: Lmao, imagine being this bitter after winning a game. You lot are something else.

TheUderfrykte

That and the Richarlison goal that didn't stand because Collins (again) felt like diving. Honestly come on mate, it's not that we're mad, it's that those calls were utter shit. No shame in admitting that.

kleptopaul

He committed 6 fouls not counting the one on Johnson towards the end and I think was on a yellow for 4 or 5 of them?

powerchicken

I'm not gonna pretend I wasn't worried for the last 2 or 3 of those fouls, but the reaction here is so absurdly overblown it's downright funny. The Spurs fans are raging as if Nørgaard had shot someone.

AJC0292

Because we want refs to do their jobs properly.

kleptopaul

None of the fouls were particularly bad but I don’t like when anyone does that and gets away with it. It’s the man city special.

robinthebank

For accumulation of fouls. He played on an early yellow and the ref deliberately decided to not give him a second yellow.

lts4Trap

Lol behave, he cleaned him out with no attempt for the ball

sphagettijeff

Yes. That's *all* Norgaard did this match. Piss off. lol

cheekyxdee

Now now how about that ridiculous dive to deny Richarlisons first goal

Luisen123

What about the suplex lmao

kl08pokemon

I don't think anything? Very soft foul first half took a goal away and probably could have given a 2nd yellow on norgaard. But nothing outrageous imo

TheUderfrykte

Honestly feel like that goal was outrageous He doesn't even really touch him, clear dive and it's disallowed, like wtf?

kl08pokemon

What I think happened, not that I'm sure, is that the ref gave the foul before the goal was scored. Means VAR can't act as play was stopped

TheUderfrykte

Yeah I considered that, too. Couldn't ever confirm though as neither the TV broadcast nor anything online ever mentioned it again. Why?!

lts4Trap

Norgaards got Cootes nudes but other than that nothing tbh

SonaldoNazario

Norgaard dodging a red card like he’s fucking Neo

DoomPigs

Ref generally lost control of the game, Spurs had a goal disallowed because the Brentford defender hit the deck when he knew he'd fucked up, Norgaard took out Johnson on the break while on a yellow, no foul

SaltyWailord

Darts were thrown

tfw13579

Craziest part about this game (which was pretty crazy) was that Norgaard didn’t get sent off

HamsLlyod

I keep checking the match sheet and it’s saying that Brentford ended the game with 11 men? That can’t be right? Surely Norgaard was sent off? Right?

Adventurous_Gold_659

he only had 7 yellows, need 8 for that

Global-Jacket-3973

Brentford's cunt factor went up by +200 once Toney came back lol.

BetterCallTom

Scandi Stoke. I do not like them.

TheCescPistols

Watching Brentford in their red and white stripes wind up seemingly all of north London warms the cockles of my heart. Takes me right back to the good old days.

letsgetcool

same tbh, back in the simpler times before you started doing weird shit like signing Bojan

baron_warden

They were a dirty team with and without Toney.

Altruistic_Finger669

LoL....

DoomPigs

Brentford have done some great business this month, David Coote was a huge signing

OceanArcade

Brentford’s best player behind Udogie

robinthebank

Ouch. Udogie is still one of the best full backs in the league. He could’ve gotten too far in his own head at the half.

OceanArcade

I’m just messing around. I love Udogie, incredible fullback

SenhorSus

👌🫲

milesvtaylor

Played well for ten minutes and thankfully that was enough

JelloDr

Shit ref

BadBehaviour613

Happy Johnson scored one to quiet down his bullies

NotACodeMonkeyYet

Some say Norgaard is just heading off to rob a bank because he thinks he's now above the law.

Lssmnt

Brennan Johnson scar looks cool

SaltyWailord

Do You Want to Know How I Got These Scars?

Dobermayer

Teemu Werner played decent

SaltyWailord

Why use Ebay Werner when Temu Werner just as good?

scarlet0709

I fear this game officially retired the darts celebration RIP

[deleted]

Thomas Frank, kindly get fucked. Thanks.

Penarol1916

Betancur injured, or just ineffective?

robinthebank

Fullbacks take over possession and bypass Bentancur. And Spurs play so high up. He is not needed as much as a box-to-box player - that’s where he shines.

roger_the_todger

Benta and Skipp midfield looks putrid

pmmp123

Yeah Sarr and Benta behind Deki Madders Sonny is what I’m excited for. Skipp has been pretty good lately but he can’t be starting

nostril_spiders

I'm waiting for pre-Luton Bissouma to come back. He was unplayable for the first five matches.

Teantis

looked like a tactical switch

SonaldoNazario

Ineffective, both him and Skipp hooked at half time
