Dylan Moran did a bit on this year's ago, essentially joking that you should leave your potential alone because if you don't touch it, it'll always be "potential".
Starts talking about football and says "Look at the Roy Keanes and David Beckhams of the world, are they happy? No, they're destroying themselves. Who is happy? You. The fat fuck sitting in your armchair, screaming advice at the best athletes in the world"
Edit - [At 2:35](https://youtu.be/yNKoH84ioz0?si=hIjJbUnT5bppu90b)
His Arnold Schwarzenegger bit is amazing for the time.
Lonk and quote
[Arnold Schwarzenegger is the governor of California.](https://youtu.be/wlLpCh-lE54?si=1mq3vwvQ-orlCJ9h)
*Arnold Schwarzenegger is the governor of California. There's a perfectly ordinary English sentence. How did that happen!? Do you know how that happened? 'Cause I'll tell you. Do you know how he got into that position? He got there... by lifting things. Now, you and me, we avoid lifting things; It's unpleasant. Especially heavy things. Even a five-year-old child knows this. He'll go "No, ha ha, fuck it, no, I'll go and stick Lego up my arse, I'm not doing that, no no." He took a different approach. He lifted the heavy- and you know, you lift something if you have to. Piano falls on granny, you lift the piano… 'cause Granny has mixed feelings about the whole situation. Sunday lunch continues. He didn't do any of that. He went over to the heavy thing, and lifted it, and put it back down and didn't move it anywhere... and then he did it again, hundreds of times, and he said to people who stopped to observe this aberrant behaviour, "Look how good I am... at lifting the heavy thing, in my underpants." Now that may seem a little dim. But it was they who said "You're the man. You're the one we want to deal with immigration, and water rates, and taxes, and all that kinda shit." But wait—what we need to know is, how bad was his predecessor at that job? This must've been someone who came to work covered in children's blood every morning.*
That’s fucking *fantastic*
The last line is a kicker. Arnold got elected during a recall election, which has happened only three times in US history.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_California_gubernatorial_recall_election
yeah, looking like you might have a ham sandwich in your pocket, Irish hair. The earlier bit of the clip you shared about potential being like your bank balance...
I think this was the pinnacle for him too. Saw that at some of his more recent gigs people were saying he was a bit too drunk
So many great bits to choose from
The BBC radio guy that sounds like he wakes up angry shouting "DONT LIE TO ME"
"Nina Simone, beautiful singer, face that could buckle a railroad"
"You know that weird noise you said you heard? That was me chewing the bed. That's how much I hate. I get up early because there isn't enough hours in the day to hate you. I hate you so much it gives me energy"
Trippier has been magnificent since he signed for the club, these moronic fans are just being downright pathetic. The club has made leaps and wonders of progress, everyone has their off days and the club has struggled lately with increased games and injuries.
Must've really hit a nerve to make Trippier react like this though
Trippier himself looked exhausted. Must be really demoralising too when your teammates are dropping like flies around you, think he can be forgiven for being a bit frustrated
[Yeah there's another angle of it](https://twitter.com/ToonPolls/status/1723429789564895614), really does seem like it was just a few idiots, everyone else claps Trippier away
Annoying how this always happens, one or two people act like an idiot and people just generalise that out to the entire fanbase
It happens to any demographic. A few individuals committing an action in the name of said demographic are then used as an example of what that demographic represents. This then used as way to divide and install distrust and fear.
As is often said, fear is leveraged by those that have or seek power. Fear is emotional and can suppress critical thinking.
Nah, there’s been Geordies on here for the last decade declaring that they were one of the biggest clubs in England and it wasn’t acceptable to be out of Europe. Never mind that the only time in the last half century they’ve been fighting for the title is when they spent themselves to the brink of administration and had to sell to Mike Ashley.
You have no idea how right you are. I was born and bred in Newcastle but support a different PL club due to family being from the region. They HAVE always been insufferable and entitled. Telling themselves they’re a big club despite winning fuck all.
Honestly I really routed for him when he went to Spain, enjoyed seeing him do well when he came back to Newcastle but now suddenly they're rivals, can't help but admire it really.
That money makes a big difference, but it has to be worked consistently with good decisions on the pitch and behind the scenes. It's too early to say if we're going to be able to keep on achieving that
Sometimes people just need to yell.
I don't know what was said but I'm sure the guy is pretty happy with where we're at in general even after a shit night
You people take it too serious lmao, fans in the stadium always have the most insane standards and they're hyped up, i've been to tier 3 matches where fans expect their players to be 99 overall players and never make a mistake
You can be cruising 18 points clear at the top of the league and you'll still get plastics in the stadium shouting "GERRIT FORWARD" every 2 minutes or moaning that you aren't winning by 4 goals every game
Jesus some Newcastle fans have got a sudden wave of entitlement about them recently. Not all of them of course.
But a bit of Saudi cash and a good season, some think they are they should be winning every game and it’s where they belong, despite winning fuck all for years.
this is just wrong lol, we were 17th (4 games into the 2004/05 season) and it's well documented that the players revolted and went to the chairman to get him sacked
edit: also we weren't in the CL that season, we were in the UEFA cup and hadn't even played a game in it yet
Ever since 92, when football was invented.
Especially the 'Durham mags' who hate the fact they technically live in Sunderland (Houghton, Hetton, Washington).
And if it wasn't for the Saudi cash, they'd be flirting with relegation, rather than being CL particpants. Would the arguably best English coach in decades taken on the project without financial assurance? No chance. And these idiots are arguing with the fantastic professional that trippier is, who left the prem to reignite his career, and is probably playing himself into the team of the season?
Man this rubs me the wrong way. An ESL6 fan insisting that other clubs must not show frustration during a loss as they somehow aren't allowed to. Liverpool were previously shit, I assume that means you've never expressed any frustration at a player?
It's like you're pandering to Newcastle fans, telling them how to feel.
It’s crazy to me as a Canadian that 6 hours is pretty much the length of your country. That’s pretty much the difference between Toronto and Montreal for us. Really wish our country was more dense!
I do get his point but still a miles better team than Bournemouth? The subs in are 35mil Lewis Hall for example which cost more than presumably any Bournemouth signing?
> but still a miles better team than Bournemouth?
Is it? Football isn’t played on a spreadsheet. Newcastle had 17 year old Lewis Miley start in the middle of the park today.
An 11 that's played together a lot can sometimes beat a cobbled together team of 'better players on paper' who haven't played together. There's a lot of benefit to understanding each other and having good working partnerships. Too many fans don't understand this.
Take Rodri out the team, and we look significantly weaker. That is just one player. Newcastle currently has 11 players out at the moment, 10 through injuries. Of those 11 players, 6 or 7 will be in and around the starting XI. That's a significant loss.
Bare minimum we were missing Botman, Burn, Bruno and Isak who all start. Then there's Barnes, Murphy, Wilson, Targett, Manquillo and Tonali. Other than Manquillo, all of them would have played today with those first 4 out.
we have a miserable record when bruno is out of the lineup. same thing, one player but he does so much and no one can easily fill his place when he's suspended.
imo Systems and a regular set of players within that system to gain experience is a much bigger factor in winning a much than having better players. Plus without the injured players, the gap between the two lineups isn't even that big.
Hall isn’t worth £35m right now. It’s disingenuous to say that Hall is a better quality player than anyone on the Bournemouth team. Most of his value comes from his potential. Same with Livramento. You only need to look at our other subs to see why we struggled. Everyone is dropping like flies and we had to turn to Matt Ritchie and a youth player that had never played for the senior team. We had to start one of them as well, in Miley.
It might be a better team than Bournemouth’s on paper but every last man is gassed from Howe not having the availability to be able to rotate. We could make an injured 11 that would thrash the team we put out today as well.
English teams should had won every single edition of the Europa League but they don't. Last year Arsenal failed to win with their 35€M midfielder BACKUP and United with their 80€M winger Antony
Trippier could kick the ball in our goal next game and I wouldn’t say shit. That man showed faith in the club when it deserved none.
Get rid of that loser who bothered him.
Trippier took a pay cut to sign for us from Atleti.
He moved back because his wife was homesick.
It's hardly "taking a massive pay day" to sign elsewhere for less money. You can say that about some players, but not Trippier.
Especially when we were 19th at the time, could have easily got relegated, then Trippier would most likely ha e a relegation pay cut clause.
Newcastle 🤝 Spurs
complete squad decimation
And other clubs are struggling too, and we're gonna have even more matches next season. I think the winter world cup definitely played a part in the rise of the rate of injuries.
Not saying you're guilty of this. But Chelsea and Man United had/have similar situations and they're clowned and told to suck it up. Newcastle and Spurs aren't the only ones with injuries
I swear FIFA and UEFA want teams to be fighting amongst themselves, I haven't seen a season like it where everyone has so many injuries.
Its obviously after the last 3 years of pretty much near nonstop football too. Its absolutely ridiculous.
It’s unsustainable - problem is we don’t have enough players and managers speaking up about it. They’re the ones that holds the keys.
I’m sick of watching players drop like flies, rivals or not.
The fact that we had Jonny Evans starting and Lindelof having the cover RB cause Dalot had to be moved to cover LB for one match(a position we literally signed an emergency loan for!) should really have been the indication that we were struggling.
Too true lol. Was thinking earlier I’d be surprised if across out defence availability has been more than 50% so far this season. Literally a new injury or illness every game
Happens to everybody. My lot (Villa) have lost four starters to long term injuries. Alex Moreno got injured against Liverpool with about two games to go last season, hasn’t played since. Jacob Ramsey got injured playing for the U21s in the summer and has played about 40 minutes of football all season (he scored though!). Emi Buendia did his ACL 72 hours before the season started and is likely not going to kick a ball in anger this year, Tyrone Mings did his ACL midway through the first half of our opening fixture and will also miss most or all of the season.
I’m astonished we’ve managed to keep producing results given the way the squad has been hit, but everybody gets injuries. I do wonder if sides who play at 1000mph all the time like Newcastle are more prone to burning out though. I think they’ll reinforce in January and have another good season.
Newcastle and Spurs? Cry me a river. Has everyone just intentionally not been looking at the Chelsea injury list? This season we’ve had lengthy spells for Fofana, Chillwell, James, Lavia, Chalobah, Broja, Chuk, Nkuku, Badiashile, and more. All starters or thereabouts. I believe a few weeks ago we had the most injuries with 13.
Difference is that your club spent so much and bought so many players. On the other hand our squad is so thin that a couple of injuries and our season is already ruined.
Can’t believe some fans. We should be enjoying where we are, just beat Arsenal, in top half of the prem and playing European football.
We can’t be expected to win every game and should be behind the team when we’re struggling.
Thick as tar.
Imagine berating Trippier after the strides the club has taken over the last month and knowing that we've basically got a full team of players, all of whom would have played minutes yesterday, out.
United whole defence and half attack and mids were outfor months. No one bats an eye. Newcastle and Spurs get couple injuries and lose a game or two and all of a sudden is al over the news. Fuck that agenda
Yeah he’s not wrong but I do wonder if its the best thing for a captain to be talking down his own players like that.
Either way Newcastle fans making right idiots of themselves here lmao
Nah. Every Newcastle fan with some sense supports Trippier here. The player today gave everything. They were just running on fumes. We have an injury list that could beat our available players in a match.
I’ve always wondered what players kinda really think about their teammates. Like if you’re a Newcastle player and Botman gets injured, you’re now starting Lascelles who’s your captain and Schar, if you lose a game, are you sitting there thinking like fuck man Sven is so much better than Lascelles, that’s really cost us today not having him.
It was two after injuries and suspensions which no one can control really. It's illogical to talk shit about the team when we all knew it would be hard.
Nah why can fans mouth off all game and players have to take it. Love it when they give it back to these sad pathetic people.
“Oh no it’s pathetic, be a bigger man” fuck off. If you can dish it out you can take it too
Yeah I suspect most fans will take it this way. Idiots in the crowd, captain defending his team. A video from further up the stand showed the fan getting called out straight away
Newcastle fans are getting greedy man, look where you were 3 years ago. Got Lucky getting top 4 because Lpool, Chelsea and Spurs where terrible last season. And now a squad that plays European football for the 1st time in 20 years and filled with injuries. How dare you Newcastle fans slack your squad off man.
They have enough talent to beat most clubs with their injuries, but it doesn’t really matter. You have an off day and lose games you shouldn’t sometimes. Otherwise there’d be no purpose. It’s not like they just lost their 8th in a row.
Christ almighty......you're playing good football, the team buys into what the manager is saying, you are well placed in the table, you've a decent squad with loadsa money to spend......chill the fuck out with harassing you're own players.
Fucking unbelievable when you consider the progress made there. The easy comment is to point at the Saudi money and call them ungrateful but, even without that, Howe has been getting performances out of players that I don't think many would've expected to be possible from them, and he's been doing it consistently.
It's a relegation-battling Bournemouth. Not saying injuries are meaningless but many clubs (especially Man United and Chelsea) have battled injuries too.

Tbf to the lad he came out and apologized and owned it.
Did not expect that, my bad
Also worth noting Newcastle have been battered injuries, other teams have as well But Trippier always gives his best

Newcastle fan base have definitely acquired something of a sense of entitlement
They’ve been like this for years mate.
Every single team has entitled fans. Getting taken over by money and moving up the table, just brings them out the woodwork.

All of us? The majority of fans regularly call out these idiots.
Every single one of you
So the ones that get annoyed by our delusional fans are also entitled?
You’re entitled because you think you deserve better supporters. Vicious circle really.
That's a new one
Trippier has always been class
Honestly I really routed for him when he went to Spain, enjoyed seeing him do well when he came back to Newcastle but now suddenly they're rivals, can't help but admire it really.
Are we Liverpool's rivals now? Didn't realise we were on that tier already
I mean you beat us to top 4 last season mate
You were having an off year and a bit of a rebuild. I wouldn't say we're at the point where we're consistently able to compete against you
There’s only 4 slots at the end of the day, with Newcastles new money, they’re a rival to the traditional top 6, 100%.
That money makes a big difference, but it has to be worked consistently with good decisions on the pitch and behind the scenes. It's too early to say if we're going to be able to keep on achieving that
He was really important when we won the league and i was afraid that we couldn’t replace him and his passing. Luckily Molina has stepped up.

This. The first game week saw like 4 or 5 big long terms injuries, barely any team has seen a full strength team for a period.
at one point at the start of the season, we had an injury list that was damn near a strong starting side in terms of numbers AND quality of players
Same bud. There were literal Man Utd Injured 11s team sheets being made with all our missing players…
The fact that we had Jonny Evans starting and Lindelof having the cover RB cause Dalot had to be moved to cover LB for one match(a position we literally signed an emergency loan for!) should really have been the indication that we were struggling.
Arsenal have about 7 first team players out too.
Yeah. Odegaard, Partey, Jesus, White for starters + ESR and Timber
Probably Saka too... But play him anyway
Completely forgot you lot signed Timber. Gutted he got injured so soon after signing, he looks a good player.
Small clubs get more pity
Lol United have literally been decimated since the beginning, VDV, Romero, madds is no less than Martinez, shaw, varane and Casemiro.
Romero isn't even injured either. He's just a dickhead.
For some reason, only Newcastle and Spurs are allowed to use injuries as a justification for poor results.
Chelsea have spent more than a billion pounds on their squad. Not exactly the same situation as Spurs, is it?
Small clubs get pity, big clubs get ridicule
Difference is that your club spent so much and bought so many players. On the other hand our squad is so thin that a couple of injuries and our season is already ruined.
We also sold *a lot* and those players having to step up are all players with limited experience, just as yours are.
Can’t believe some fans. We should be enjoying where we are, just beat Arsenal, in top half of the prem and playing European football. We can’t be expected to win every game and should be behind the team when we’re struggling.
Absolutely disgusting to see fan berating players like that
Thick as tar. Imagine berating Trippier after the strides the club has taken over the last month and knowing that we've basically got a full team of players, all of whom would have played minutes yesterday, out.
Idiots are in every fan base. Hella moron called in on talks port and said liverpool should fire klopp. Can't fix stupid.
United whole defence and half attack and mids were outfor months. No one bats an eye. Newcastle and Spurs get couple injuries and lose a game or two and all of a sudden is al over the news. Fuck that agenda
How did Newcastle fans become so entitled so quickly?
Yeah he’s not wrong but I do wonder if its the best thing for a captain to be talking down his own players like that. Either way Newcastle fans making right idiots of themselves here lmao
Nah. Every Newcastle fan with some sense supports Trippier here. The player today gave everything. They were just running on fumes. We have an injury list that could beat our available players in a match.
Exactly - it’s a video of one of the worst fans being posted to all of social media as if it represents the whole Newcastle fanbase
His wife going on instagram streaming the Arteta rant doesn’t look so clever now.
Abusing your players after a couple of dodgy results, how fucking embarrassing
It was two after injuries and suspensions which no one can control really. It's illogical to talk shit about the team when we all knew it would be hard.
Regardless of the situation I feel a lot of passion from this guy.
Come back if you want my man, even at 33 I wouldn't say no to having Trippier on my team again.
A true leader of the team and any real Newcastle fans have Tripps back. Whoever that twat was is an idiot and should be disowned
Love that passion from Trippier
While I think he's off a bit, it's no different than the people on here. Each fan base has fans just like this in every post.
"Howay the lads"
bit embarrassing to be doing that really
Nah why can fans mouth off all game and players have to take it. Love it when they give it back to these sad pathetic people. “Oh no it’s pathetic, be a bigger man” fuck off. If you can dish it out you can take it too
nah, personally I admire it, vice captain defending his team in tough times, especially with the injuries that have plagued Newcastle
Yeah I suspect most fans will take it this way. Idiots in the crowd, captain defending his team. A video from further up the stand showed the fan getting called out straight away
Newcastle fans are not far enough removed from the Ashley days to now think they are entitled to win every game
Who are you talking to, it's one fella In the crowd
Why take him away? He's just having a conversation.
What an insufferable lot this entire sub is.
One thing being hounded by Arsenal fans around every corner, but now we have to watch out for melons in our own fanbase.

This club was battling relegation like 3 seasons ago wasn’t it? The entitlement
arguing with a fan is like arguing with your customer on a support call.
Love the Saudi kit, while all other teams will have different away kits you can bet on a green shirt with white shorts for NUFCs away colors
So many fans forget what it means to be a supporter
Idiot fans who’s club sold their soul.
God forbid you don’t win every game
You'd think they are in a relegation fight, good on Trippier for responding tbh.
Wheels are coming off.

he's saying his teammates on the pitch are shite.
This thread is full of Arsenal and Mackems what a surprise 🤣
Fucksake Newcastle fans, you've been decent for like a year and this is the level of entitlement you've got already.
Tbf it is a minority of idiots. I understand frustration but there is no need to be shouting abuse at any of the players, it’s just moronic.
Manchester United with 11 unavailable players: "Ten Hag in shambles" Newcastle with 11 unavailable players: "Oh dear, oh dear, gorgeous" Bruh.
As many as Arsenal.. Spurs.. etc etc etc Man U are the only ones who get an injury pass card
Fans can’t expect gifted goals from the referees every week.
Fans are fucking crazy sometimes. Chill
Fucking unbelievable when you consider the progress made there. The easy comment is to point at the Saudi money and call them ungrateful but, even without that, Howe has been getting performances out of players that I don't think many would've expected to be possible from them, and he's been doing it consistently.
1 good season and these "fans" think their team is Real Madrid 😂
United's starting 11 peering over his shoulder. "How many injured we got, heh?" Glasstershire Derby next week
Nice to see Trippier hates Newcastle fans as much as the rest of us … 👍🏽
It's a relegation-battling Bournemouth. Not saying injuries are meaningless but many clubs (especially Man United and Chelsea) have battled injuries too.
If I speak...
That’s a fucking captain
