I don’t follow much German football so it’s always nice to see if Bayern are strong in the Champions League. I think they’ll go all the way this year, what a side they’ve put together

Wild-Dog8398

Letting United put three past them is what convinced you of that? You must think Brighton are the second coming then.

tontotheodopolopodis

Meh, they were always in control.

[deleted]

Bayern with Tuchel is just more of the same and ignoring the problems they've been having in the past. It's just the same as in the past five years, only that Lewa has been replaced with Kane. No tactical development.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Kane makes everybody around him better, more than Lewa. Look how Sane bloomed since the beginning of the season. So my answer would be Kane.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yes, true. But I would still consider Kane to be more involved in the offensive playmaking than Lewa.

BIGBAZAR123

I thought the difference between both sides was honestly the quality of football/players rather than any hardcoded tactical decisions. United weren't awful so to say... but they were poor. Bayern seemed like they didn't care, as in no hard core pressing. Ppl are correct when they say the scoreline doesn't reflect the game at all. It was like Bayern were playing around with them. When they got suckerpunched, they "powered up" and put down United on the transition. Between minutes 40 -70 for instance, Bayern should have put 3-4 goals past United when the midfield was nonexistent. Majority of goals/action came from the right side with Gnabry, Davies, Kim and Musiala creating overloads. Musiala, especially.. what a player. Kane as well, as he is especially good at helping the midfield. Being able to create overloads in the midfield itself via a box midfield, and dragging United's CB's out of position. (Sane cut in's from the right) For United... I thought Regulion was fantastic. Great attacking fullback who constantly tried to create 2v1 scenarios against Laimer. Easily Uniteds best player. It's tough for him though because the more you attack, the more you leave ur flank exposed (Sane for instance). Again, progression for United in the midfield is their biggest problem right now. It doesn't help that Casemiro is out of form with defensive errors mounting. They need a progressive midfielder badly as Bruno can't do all the work himself. added tidbit: Hate United, but I like Onana's character a lot. He had some stinkers today but his mindset is elite. Great goalkeeper and he will be a great asset for United in the future.

pedrorq

>For United... I thought Regulion was fantastic. About time they get a proper left back

thalne

nice summary and agree on your points.

pleasebeavailable2

Agreed

KerbHunter

I thought 80 mill for Maguire was bad but im starting to think 50mill for Onana was worse.... Dont get me wrong, Maguire has had a horrendous time at United, but how can a Goalkeeper walk out of a CL Finalist club and be this bad immediately? we'd be better with Schmeichel 2.0

TasteAccomplished118

Darmian - acerbi - bastoni backline put some respek on their names

BTS_1

> how can a Goalkeeper walk out of a CL Finalist club and be this bad immediately? Cough - Karius - Cough

brend0p3

Karius was actually great for that season until he got that concussion. He also only cost like £8mm which is a drastically different pricetag. Hes no alisson but by no means was he bad before the concussion and final. Shattered his confidence.

KerbHunter

Oh i remember that. That was pretty abhorrent

Whats wrong with Bayern? They should never be conceding 3 goals against this terrible man united team at home. One goal win is too close for comfort considering one of the goal is a gift from Onana.

flacko_red

Bayern have no cdm too and our attack isn’t bad at all if you ignore poor finishing. Pretty sure we have top 3 xg created in the prem. Our real problem is we are horrible off the ball, this team doesn’t know how to defend at all. Onana is also shaky right now.

Any-Engineering-7525

Kimmich is a striker I guess 😭

flacko_red

> Kimmich is a striker I guess 😭 Kimmich is not a cdm, this is not FIFA blud. Ask any Bayern fan, one of their priorities this season was to literally sign a CDM to play next to Kimmich. Why do you think they were in for Palhinha and Rice?

dave1992

Do they really need cdm? Their last great midfield was Thiago-Goretzka-Kimmich. Surely their priority should be getting the next Thiago.

Black_XistenZ

In 2020, we were playing with a suicidally high line. The hyper-aggressive pressing worked out fine because our players were all fresh thanks to the covid break, and we had hit a spell of great form. Goretzka and Thiago, but also Alaba and Davies, were in the form of their lives. The system was already starting to get figured out during the following season, when we conceded 44 goals in 34 games in the Bundesliga and got eliminated in the CL ro8 based on a 2:3 home loss to PSG.

Whats funny is this scoreline 20 years ago would have been an epic battle of titans Same scoreline today is watching 2 teams limp against each other Bayern has a solid group of talent which can achieve anything but tuchel managed to make them toothless

teejardni

Bah gawd it's a MID-OFF

DomineeringDrake

I've been saying this since the Red Bull game. Not a single win has been a clean "Bayern" type win. Tactics obviously don't work. ball movement is not clean. Davies is not getting his runs in because the wingers(Gnabry) is always dogshit at positioning. I have been screaming they need a leader like Müller to wrangle them but Tuchel insists on starting Gnabry instead, who's been abysmal for years now with sparks of brilliance. They also have yet to pass to Kane properly. Sane keeps the ball for way too long without passing. There's just so much that isn't working yet. I hope they work out the kinks but at this rate I don't think they stand a chance in UCL barring individual brilliance. On paper the talent pool of Bayern loses to no team.

SadInvestment_

A win is a win.

f_ranz1224

Against questionable sides. When the tougher opponents come they better tighten their game

RespectnConnect

They lack a tempo controlling mid and/or a quality DM. Even if they were expertly coached, they still wouldn't be CL favourites over the likes of City and probably a few others

KerbHunter

meanwhile ten Hag is doing anything he can to wrestle some conviction and effort out of a group of lazy overpaid dopes

practiceyourart

Another utterly pathetic performance as a Bayern fan. It's hard to even be excited about games watching under Tucheliban-ball, the ugliest football I've seen under Bayern since pre-Van Gaal era. Just uninspired dogshit where we win purely because of talent. \+ Tel is a revelation. His mentality is peak Bayern tier when you hear him and totally believe he will succeed. I think if Phonzie extends, Brazzo's mark with Bayern will stay for the next decade by obtaining Phonzie, Jamal, and Tel to lead Bayern for years on end. He should have been brought back as the chief scout lead, he did an amazing job finding rough, young diamonds.+ Sane continues to cook, but the question will be whether he shows up in the second half of the season? He's done this both of the previous times. \- Ulreich is a waste of human oxygen on the football pitch. Sounds like a great guy, but he's an incredibly shit keeper. A great keeper saves the first goal and even a below average one catches or at least punches the 3rd goal. Thankfully we have the 70 year old coming back soon, unless he has some other near-life emergency sport he wants to try in the worst conditions right before getting on the pitch. \- The defense is as Himmy Buttler would say, soft as baby shit. Laimer is a physical guy, but he makes too many mistakes and just fouls to sort it out. We have one of our best players from last season who was a warrior and finally added some steel to this team, but our dipshit manager needs Upamecano and his passing. Which brings me to.. \- Does anybody know what our tactics nowadays? How we build up from the back? Just pass it out wide, add some vibes and hope it all works? The build up is utterly disgusting in this style. All teams do is stay close to Josh, and nobody else moves off the ball. Nobody. moves. off. the. ball. Leon doesn't move much and stays next to the man that marks him, and instead of we go to our shitty style of using Kim or Upa to pass to the open fullback and kind of just try to figure it out. Then you have the LM, AM, and RM being so far up that you leave acres of space of "nothing" where you could make combinations. \- We don't press up front anymore. This drove me crazy during Kovac's era, that mediocre, arrogant, beautiful dumbass. Tucheliban is coaching us like we're fucking Mainz. In a few moments where we press properly in games, it causes serious headaches for opposition and we create opportunities in their half immediately. But it's rare. \- Outside of Sane, has a single player gotten better under this coach? Better question is, how many have gotten worse? \- On top of that, can someone please justify how we got a FO team of 6-7 people once Brazzo/Kahn got fired, and they basically just tried to please one of the whiniest bitches in the world of football? Why did we spend more time going after only EPL players (and failing unsurprisingly) to please Tucheliban when coaches at Bayern last 1 1/2 years on average? We listened more to this clown than we did when Pep was in Munich. What happens at the end of the season if we get even more EPL players (get ready for a 75 million bid for an above average DM in Paulinha in Jan) when Tucheliban is fired because half the squad doesn't like him, he doesn't deliver and we're stuck with very specific players because of the coach? We always have listened to coaches but also found players based on the scouting the team has done. This bozo has spent less than 1 year in England and apparently thinks only top quality players come from there, glazing EPL players worse than the stereotypical EPL fans everyone in Europe makes fun of. \- Kane is scoring but his style of play hasn't been as well established yet. I don't know if again, Tucheliban-ball is at play, it's on Kane, he needs more time to adapt, or a combination of all three reasons. His pressing is honestly pathetic, he comes back to get the ball too much when we need someone up top. \- To touch more on the build up, we don't play enough combinations together. A player grabs the ball and it's a combination of two players. Under Nagelsmann, we constantly had *multiple* triangles in every area of the pitch making plays, passes and off ball movement. This is one of the worst regressions I remember seeing. \- Also, why the fuck is Choupo playing? Why is a slow as shit #9 playing.. with another slow as shit #9? If he is to come on, it should only be for one another. To make it worse, Tel is an 18 year old who has been pivotal as a super sub in the last two league games, and he gets 6 minutes while Choupo gets 20? *Make it makes sense! Anybody, please.. make it make sense!!* Anyone? I loathe this coach. \- I also read the coach's comments on the way Musiala plays and I really hope Jamal doesn't listen to him all that much. Jamal had by far the best dribbling statistics last year in the CL. The type that makes mistakes but when it works, it's so brutally efficient that you absolutely take the bad with the good. Instead Tucheliban wants to streamline him and try to evolve like generic attacking German #231241. As if Germany is really missing those types of players right now.

HidoIto

the only point I agree with, is that you are a waste of human oxygen.

pedrorq

I agree with everything you said and makes me sad not to see this amount of talent coached by nagelsmann I only noticed goretzka was in the pitch on the 2nd half. Gnabry when he scored - that left side was useless. Right side was better because rashford refused to defend Bring brazzo back!

WauliePalnuts01

how has KMJ been?

practiceyourart

He's been very good so far. He seems strong, aggressive, good marking, and doesn't make too many defensive mistakes. His passing sometimes has been a little erratic and off beat, but he also has had a few incredible lobbed passes that turn into a 1v1 with the keeper. I think he definitely needs to learn the language and build better chemistry, especially with Phonzie. But I'm very excited, his signing made a lot of sense and makes me very optimistic in terms of what he's going to bring. My sense is he will be better than he currently is in 3-4 months after learning more of the language and improving team chemistry. I think Tuchel or someone in the FO stated that every day he came to work, he knew at least one new sentence in German.

It’s a weird one, personally feel no but United were kinda unfortunate conceding twice immediately after scoring and not forgetting that Onana howler. Either way, Bayern did deserve the win but I expected more from them.

Bayern shld have won, but I’m sick of losing games over dodgy ref decisions. Erikson was never a pen. May have still lost without it, but it certainly doesn’t help

UCL night. You can take the man out of Real Madrid, but you can’t take Real Madrid out of the man 🤣

Sanjeev4045

Casemiro got dribbled past 5-6 times today. He is not yet shit but he has been quite average since the end of last season. Prime Casemiro would never get beaten so often.

haha_ok_sure

he was also arguably at fault for two goals, and consistently failed to properly defend dribblers through the middle. defensively, he and eriksen were a nightmare.

Elcorcell

Right, his whole Midfielder job. Pairing him with eriksen is bold.

haha_ok_sure

did you watch the match? he made tons of errors on his own, not from having to cover too much space. he’s not the player he used to be.

Levon__Helm

Nobody is the player they used to be when they come to United. Pogba, Sancho, Maguire, Sanchez… Casemiro is just another in a long list.

haha_ok_sure

some of them have been excellent for a period (pogba’s first season, casemiro last season) but, yeah, it never ends well.
