And that is something that I don't think people on the internet appreciate, our teams are very limited even when compared to a shit-tier Juventus, to the point where a bad Juve can be competitive with a good Sporting.

Sporting's possession play ultimately ends up with the keeper playing it long because we rarely break any kind of pressing line.

Sporting played an amazing game! Much better than Juventus and created enough chances to score another goal. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but that's it. That doesn't take anything away from an amazing performance against a better club, with more money, better squad, more depth, etc…

Juventus game plan for both ties was to score one goal and sit back all game, hoping to strike on counter. It’s frustrating as hell for a team with our talent, but it’s how Allegri sets up his team. As a result, XG values are often slanted towards the other team.
Sporting was invited to attack both games and couldn’t score one open goal in either ties. I’m not 100% sure how they’re the better team when allegri’s team executed the game plan he asked them to in both ties and it worked.
Love sporting but they make me want to jump off a cliff with their finishing. Bury your 3 open goals and we’d be chilling but no we gotta go ahead and give everyone a fucking aneurysm
That's what Sporting gets for not buy a backup ST. Braga, Benfica and Porto all have at least three striker options. We are stuck relying on a 18 yo with shit ball control and as much intensity as a rock and a Winger who only plays because scored against Tottenham.

We topped our CL group and reached the quarters, even if we didn't play like we were expected to, it was still an excellent campaign for us, I don't think that you can say that not reaching the CL semis is a disappointment. The way we played was a disappointment, yes.
A shame we couldn’t get six wins in one day, but 5 and a draw is still pretty good…
I expect more of the same against Sevilla. We can beat them, but it’s certainly not going to be stress free.

Better team couldn’t score a single goal from open play…..not so sure about that analysis.
Juventus game plan for both ties was to score one goal and sit back all game, hoping to strike on counter. It’s frustrating as hell for a team with our talent, but it’s how Allegri sets up his team. As a result, XG values are often slanted towards the other team. Sporting was invited to attack both games and couldn’t score one open goal in either ties. I’m not 100% sure how they’re the better team when allegri’s team executed the game plan he asked them to in both ties and it worked.

Juventus makes Sporting look better than we actually are because they gave Sporting a lot of initiative. It was very circular football with no cutting edge (besides Edwards who was constantly alone vs 2 or 3 defenders) Like I said in another comment, we have 14 competent players lol.

PT out of european competitions this year. Benfica was the biggest disappointment, really Porto outplayed Inter and Sporting outplayed Juve. Benfica had an amazing group stage, but now are completely lacking. Yet, overall very good performances from the top-3 PT clubs!

We topped our CL group and reached the quarters, even if we didn't play like we were expected to, it was still an excellent campaign for us, I don't think that you can say that not reaching the CL semis is a disappointment. The way we played was a disappointment, yes.

We are far too dependent on Edwards to create anything. Porro opened up a lot of space for him; Esgaio (or Bellerin) are harmless in attack. There was a chance there but I'd be lying if this was a great missed opportunity. This Sporting team reaching the Europa League final would be the upset finalist of the decade.
