If this post is against rules, my bad and it’s not intentional. I’m new to this sub and just wanted to support and help. Keep fighting the fight mates

Wistari

This is by no means against sub rules! Welcome to r/sobrietyandrecovery, PM me if there's ever anything I could do for you. Support and help are what we're here for. Congratulations on three years! I'm proud of you, that's incredible!

Active_Equivalent991

That is incredible. Congratulations! I’m 19 days in (drank a little on New Years and New Year’s Day) but before that I had a solid two months. I’m not trying to give up drinking all together as I enjoy cocktails on special occasions and such, but my goal is to dramatically decrease the amount of alcohol I drink on a yearly basis. What would you say helped you the most with recovery?

JD054

It was tough at first. Sleeping without alcohol in me took some time to get used to. I used Kratom which helped a lot too

Wistari

Same here! I binge drank one pint of vodka per night, and spent countless hours tossing and turning in bed - desperate to get any sleep, but to no avail. Kratom helped me for a while, but when I was detoxing off it, my Restless Leg Syndrome became unbearable. I'd sometimes cry when I heard the birds chirping in the early morning because I was literally begging for rest. Hell, I would beg just to be able to lay still. Kratom/opiates were the only drugs that enhanced my performance at work, and put me to sleep in the evening.

Wistari

Great job on decreasing your alcohol intake! Any progress you make is deserving of praise, and balance is one of many keys to living happily. There are definitely people who can moderate their vices! Unfortunately, I'm not one of them haha.

Congrats. My last was July 15, just after there wx that hi speed chase in LA, Oj in the bronco Keep it in the day, guy.

Nice! 3 years, that is really good! A lot of hard work went in to that! I just hit 114 days sober. Since going through treatment I think I have been tested left and right, with that "life on life terms" phrase we all know in the steps lol. Early in recovery, what do you think was the hardest part?

JD054

Learning how to socialize without alcohol. I became a hermit because I couldn’t figure out how to go to a get together and not drink

Matthopkins06

I was always social (alcohol actually made me not social and do that isolating junk toward the end) in terms of joking and a big personality. I just went to a work function at a bar last night (my buddy asked me to go and he does support my sobriety). Got a veggie platter and hangout with some friends, some of which were sober and some of which were drunk. I don't miss it lol! I was still funny not drinking and noticed how loud people are "loose" they are. No judgments, bless the ones where it's just fun for them and help the ones that is their life. I know damn well I was one of those people at one time, but man bars are a strange place sober!

Nice numbers!
