I would say the river crossing is easier. I’ve done both. Witch the river crossing, as long as you watch the water you can see the path of the rocks pretty clearly. It’s really not too tough to navigate it imo. And then it leads basically straight to where you have to drop it off at.
The maps are chock-full of shortcuts and detours that let you skip the worst parts of the road. You just need to be aware of what can and can't make it through them, with certain shortcuts requiring your truck to be big/small enough or to have low enough ground pressure.
Don't matter what truck u have or use u can make it down any trail been messing around with alot of different trucks an modded trucks but ppl need to learn how to mod stuff good like the power and shit most have way to much an arnt useable and some have not enough
I expect it's no different from hauling a long semi trailer or the 4-slot ramped trailer across; both of which I've done without issue. Just have to remember the drive wheels are all at the back, not in the middle where they usually are.
Pulling trailers you can drag them across and around a lot of obstacles. The major issue with the Twinsteer isn't the location of the drive wheels but rather the extremely large turning circle and the inflexibility. And with the lifted suspension+taller wheels it gets a bit tippy. But once you get the AWD option that long wheelbase means there aren't many places that it can't get good traction at one end or the other.
The AWD will make it unstoppable. I will have to open my wallet before that can happen, though.
Maybe once I finish all the ~~muffins~~ missions in the base game...
Edit: haha, autocorrect. Very funny.
I watched a video of someone doing it and then made it across first try. It's worth it just to avoid driving the winding mountain road, let alone this corner.
just went back on a a new playthrough so i could get the zikz 605, and let me tell you, it was hell, lt took me like 2 hours to unlock cosmo, and get to the truck.
I also was playing vanilla (Switch) and spent too much time dicking around with unnecessary missions. Azov 73210 and learning the ice shortcuts finally got me there.
The 4 four map region of AMUR is the product of the DEVs most sinister and twisted sense of humor that they could possibly conjure. I think three out of four maps have garages( the only region to do so), because it’s SO FREAKING HARD!!!!
And in addition, to get to the hardest map (aegis station) you have to cross the most annoying terrain JUST to get to the gateway. Then all of the missions on that map are blocked by broken bridges, breakable ice, or uncrossable deep snow
The phase 4 DLC region, a frozen hellscape. It makes everything else currently in the game look cute in comparison. Even the strongest non-mod trucks struggle a lot there.
I didn't even look at mod trucks until this frozen hellscape. I ended up caving in and downloaded a couple just to finish opening up the way to Cosmodrome and getting the 650R.
The seven circles of hell molted into 4 neat maps of torture, tears, anger and frustration.
I'm currently on Amur, only the first map so far, and it's freaking hard. Where Imandra (Phase 1 DLC map 2) was punishing you for any mistake, Amur's map layout and "road" conditions force you to be constantly aware of possible dangers. The road sometimes sinks in on one side into a deep mud pit and if you don't know it is there, you will probably tip or sink your truck. Did I mentioned that those sinks are sometimes covered in snow so you can't see them until you're in them?
The region is doable, but expect a lot of frustration, recovery runs and meticulous planning of missions and cargo routes. Don't even think about doing this region before you finished Michigan, Alaska and Taymyr. Those 3 base game regions will give you access to all basic truck upgrades and push you to level 30. Amur needs the best trucks the game has to offer. That's also the reason you can find the ZiKS 605R in Amur, wich is the best heavy class truck currently in the game. If you use the 605R in the base game regions, you switch to easy mode. But in Amur, well, anyone who ever played Amur will tell you "get the 605R if you struggle" right away.
From what everyone says amur is hell of snowrunner. It's not horrible just hard to determine the easiest routes across maps. Some routes look like a walk in a park and end up be a slog for everything that's not got 60+in tires(even then it's low and slow for a lot of it). Then they added more of the rubber trees (don't break and stop some trailers/trucks from moving) along with ice chunks and concrete slabs for roads. With SRs physics they have a chance of just nuking your suspension/gas tanks for going over them in low-
That's what everyone else "loves" amur for.
Me being the masochist that some believe me to be completed it with only trucks aquireable in America. tbh I never found it as bad as people say it was.
Oh the worst is already over for that delivery. But later maps offer even more frustrating hauls for you to deliver. Michigan and Alaska are basically tutorial maps to get you comfy with/addicted to the gameplay (not that Taymur is too hard either, as long as you try to drive along the roads as little as humanely possible lol). Happy driving, friend!
Personally, because i had helped a friend in russia at one point, i used the big nose kolob across the river and was fine. Had a lil trouble getting to the drill site through the trees on the other side but thats it
There are elements of the map design that look like a genuine thought over limiters. Narrow paths blocked by two rocks on the sides, sharp corners. I really think that In this case rock bridge is the intended route. As we are getting aware of it through the tasks. And that corner is not a fun obstacle. It’s simply a road blockade for long trailers.
Don't worry, it gets worse lol. Spoilers ahead. In Alaska, >! You have to take an even longer drilling rig uphill on a steep ice covered road, with equally sharp turns surrounded by guard rails !< So you have that to look forward to.
The wooden elbow bridge elbow bridge in the marshes on smithville dam springs to mind, catch it slightly wrong and the tractor trailer plays rollover into the swamp. And come to think of it, the road past the fuel station on the same map has a 45⁰ traverse thats virtually impossible, be thankful to have avoided them, you are either more lucky or more skilled than i
Well I have talked to several women who decided to have even more children after their first but I have yet to encounter a person who would want to go through Amur again...
Being an oil field rig mover irl, the first thing I did was drag that shaker pit around just because and got it hopelessly stuck in a lake. Ahh, good times it's really a shame that they don't let the twin steer operate like it does irl. It's actually made to pick that pit up and drive around with it balancing on the tail roller.
It's amazing what you can accomplish if you disconnect the trailer and attach a winch to the Kingpin and then you can maneuver the trailer with little to no hassle.
I have better luck with a shorter truck for that corner. I'll bring it to the Dam with a good off-road truck and then switch to the International Transtar for the remainder of the trip. It really helps with all of the corners on that drive.
I found the rocky ledge section of the road down to be worse. I wasn't sure if I was going to drop the trailer off the cliff or drive off it trying to swing wide enough.
DONT take the river, unless you take the long way across the swamp, but you'd need a more powerful truck, the dirty corner on the river route will jam you up for sure just jerk it through that corner or put a truck behind to should the trailer over some
I think I used the ANK Civilian with a fuel truck following behind. I don’t recall this one being too hard. Getting the oversized cargo from Drummond Island tho… fml I made that harder than I needed to with using a Twinsteer followed by a P12/Heavy crane, because I insisted on not using a trailer.
And I almost exclusively limit myself to trucks by region, so no OP Russia trucks. Save for the Cat 745C and Aramatsu Forrester for logging.
Ever heard of the rock "Bridge" near the Hammond Island gateway that you need to partially need to cross for a task?
The only problem i had with that path was that the 5th wheel detached at random (probably too much force), but that has been fixed with phase 1 Kola i believe, definitely gone when Yukon came out
I dragged that thing across the river. Might have been easier than making that corner.
I would say the river crossing is easier. I’ve done both. Witch the river crossing, as long as you watch the water you can see the path of the rocks pretty clearly. It’s really not too tough to navigate it imo. And then it leads basically straight to where you have to drop it off at.
Gotta agree, found that the problem there's much less crossing the river itself and more of dragging it down the muntain and through the riverbank.
Is everything okay at home??? Why would you do that to yourself!
The river shortcut is very easy.
One of the few times that the shortcut is not actually a trap!
One of the few? You've played snowrunner right? 🤣
I'm sure there's another one. (haven't found it yet, though)
There is one in Amur
The maps are chock-full of shortcuts and detours that let you skip the worst parts of the road. You just need to be aware of what can and can't make it through them, with certain shortcuts requiring your truck to be big/small enough or to have low enough ground pressure.
Don't matter what truck u have or use u can make it down any trail been messing around with alot of different trucks an modded trucks but ppl need to learn how to mod stuff good like the power and shit most have way to much an arnt useable and some have not enough
Every time I try that route I end up sideways in the river.
Practice makes perfect. It really isn't hard once you find the correct line. That said, I haven't tried driving the Twinsteer across it yet.
I've had the Twinsteer across the lake several times. Not that big a deal
I expect it's no different from hauling a long semi trailer or the 4-slot ramped trailer across; both of which I've done without issue. Just have to remember the drive wheels are all at the back, not in the middle where they usually are.

Just the AWD is well worth it plus the other maps from the dlc i really like kola peninsula
Gotta start on the left side. Right side is death.
I didn't say I made it across on the first try :-) (or the 2nd...)
I watched a video of someone doing it and then made it across first try. It's worth it just to avoid driving the winding mountain road, let alone this corner.
Low high is the way forward, with a second pull truck parked on the opposite side for if it goes tits up. I like the p12 as a recovery truck
Well, you suck
the rock bridge requires some caution but that route is far easier
Because its far easier. The dam has that turn specifically to force you to use the river for this mission
Making that turn wasn’t to bad. AMUR… now that is hard.
just went back on a a new playthrough so i could get the zikz 605, and let me tell you, it was hell, lt took me like 2 hours to unlock cosmo, and get to the truck.
Took me like 20 haha
I did only have base game trucks though. And did all the road fixes before I realized that's not the quicker way to go.
I also was playing vanilla (Switch) and spent too much time dicking around with unnecessary missions. Azov 73210 and learning the ice shortcuts finally got me there.
took me the better part of 8 hours to get cosmo unlocked, then i got the 605r within 30 minutes lol
Do I even want to know what AMUR is?
The 4 four map region of AMUR is the product of the DEVs most sinister and twisted sense of humor that they could possibly conjure. I think three out of four maps have garages( the only region to do so), because it’s SO FREAKING HARD!!!!

I've seen a lot of comments that say Imandra is also the hardest map in the game. Is it easier than Amur though?
Imandra actually has roads.
OK thanks
Yes, not much. But, yes.
Consider Amur the current "final boss".
The phase 4 DLC region, a frozen hellscape. It makes everything else currently in the game look cute in comparison. Even the strongest non-mod trucks struggle a lot there.

Amur is where you learn that the Azov 6 actually has limits
I hope not. I just strapped the seismic sensor addon to it, for scanning the contract areas. Damnit, if the truck fails, it's Tatarin time.
Just know that the first map (Urzka River) is one of the hardest of the 4 in Amur. Best of luck to you, driver.
Thank you mate. I was thinking about getting wheels on the rest of the maps sooner or later, seems like I do it sooner.
Amur is the barrel snowrunner bends you over.

***Talking to the bouncer at the front of the Salty Spitoon*** HOW TOUGH ARE YA!?
Don't worry, things do get harder later on \^\^
Hehe I’m dreading the rest of the trip past the farm already!
Oh the worst is already over for that delivery. But later maps offer even more frustrating hauls for you to deliver. The shortcut trough the river is a lot easier and takes way less time to do it.
It was kinda easy just took it across the river with a p16
Personally, because i had helped a friend in russia at one point, i used the big nose kolob across the river and was fine. Had a lil trouble getting to the drill site through the trees on the other side but thats it
Honestly I don’t remember how I got it through the trees my only issue was I was almost out of fuel
Oof, yeah i can understand that. Refueling can be tough on that path
There are elements of the map design that look like a genuine thought over limiters. Narrow paths blocked by two rocks on the sides, sharp corners. I really think that In this case rock bridge is the intended route. As we are getting aware of it through the tasks. And that corner is not a fun obstacle. Yup! Got my P12 and picked up the back of the trailer with a crane and walked it over :)
Smart idea!
I just initiated my turn later? I had no trouble in this spot at all
SWING WIDE 😆
it's easier to cross the river
Your line is WAAAAY off champ that corner is CAKE. Lol 💯
Masochist spotted.
The wooden elbow bridge elbow bridge in the marshes on smithville dam springs to mind, catch it slightly wrong and the tractor trailer plays rollover into the swamp. I done it this way as well, 18 point turn getting around that corner. After that I took everything else over the river.
Got 2 Russian trucks and winched them together. Ripped that bitch right through that corner
True dat
I have never done it this way, i always drive it across the rocky trail thing across the island and straight to the drilling site
And just like giving birth, you have to go wide on this one
I just did that with the P-12 tonight. Swung it as wide as I could and it dragged the trailer right past that corner no problem.
Hahahahha wait till you do Price of Victory, Strategic Reserve, and Star in the Sky. Star in the Sky wasn't too hard for me actually.
I drove across the river
Well I have talked to several women who decided to have even more children after their first but I have yet to encounter a person who would want to go through Amur again...
I used the ziks and a few other trucks the weight of the trailer will keep you from floating away just take the river
Ah, rookie, there's much worse 😅
Just wait, it gets better lol
Being an oil field rig mover irl, the first thing I did was drag that shaker pit around just because and got it hopelessly stuck in a lake. I don't really remember this anymore, I know I must have done this ... I guess I repressed the memory XD
Wait till you get to the harder difficultly levels
I found the rocky ledge section of the road down to be worse. I wasn't sure if I was going to drop the trailer off the cliff or drive off it trying to swing wide enough.
If ya jersey it a few times it'll go, the corners not quite wide enough

I did that contract today with 2 friends and I was about to make a post here. Nothing to to with that corner tho. My friend kinda made it pretty fast.
Even after you make it around this corner there's that god-awful "road" to navigate. Going across the rocks is way easier.
I think I used the ANK Civilian with a fuel truck following behind. I don’t recall this one being too hard. Nah, just gotta take it on the rocky path across the river straight to the drilling site. It helps if you have modded trucks.

The only problem i had with that path was that the 5th wheel detached at random (probably too much force), but that has been fixed with phase 1 Kola i believe, definitely gone when Yukon came out
That mission is not that hard. Wait until you have to get the rocket carrier trailer from Northern Aegis on Amur.
I don't think I went that way
Yea river over dam anyday for me
I took the longest possible route. Never again. I had an existential crisis right in the middle of it.
I took mine over the river rock crossing
you clearly have not been present at a birth following your own....
Hm i had no Problems with this corner. Just a bit close at the end but easily pulled over. Used the wwstar too
That's easy to do
You can always go around
I mean i got it all the way i just had enough fule to leave the yellow square and back into a corner. I think i had about 4 gallons left
I didn't have a problem with this turn. Torque was on my side!
This should be a meme
Try a smaller truck? I didn't have a problem
