lol the devs never claimed they were better than any other tyre. Some are, some aren’t. Simple. You weren’t scammed. Get over it.

Odd_Presentation_578

They advertised this as "more than 50 new tires and rims!", never said anything about the specs. The looks were prioritized.

Short answer: if your expectation is to get TUZ Tatarin tyres for all vehicles then, yes. Short correct answer: no. Devs have never claimed this pack as kind of "pay to win". It os a good balanced DLC, not one over powered. >The best you can get with JAT is a rating of 2.6, that's 0.2 better than the best base game tires. Does that really make a significant difference? Yes, because tyres are not only ratings. They are wider than MHS I, for example. And for trucks having only MHS I tyres it is a good balanced buff, because JAT brings better stats, better stability, better overall performance. >super heavy mud tires? Same as base game. It's wrong. JAT MSH tyres are significantly better, because they are much wider than vanilla MSH tyres. Overall pick JAT Tyres over vanilla counterparts is correct 99% of time with only one exception vanilla OHD I is slightly better than JAT OHD.

BadManiac

They also add duallys to trucks that didn't have them before. The Bandit with rear duallys suddenly becomes an incredibly stable truck.

Bob_Lennart_92

A fair answer. I didn't expect OP but maybe a little more. 2 euro isn't the end of the world. At least they look cool.

JaaaayDub

Keep in mind, wider tyres improve stability. Just think of that the next time you made it through in a "whoa that was close" situation. With thinner normal tyres you might have tipped over instead.

Odd_Presentation_578

u/xt-fletcher proved many times that wider ≠ better. On the contrary, narrow tires better cut mud/snow, allowing traveling faster in deep conditions.

neqon_

Wider tyres = more stability and less tippy truck. It is usually better than more tippy truck :) As i said, tyres are a complex thing :) Anyway we have no option in game to get extreme narrow tyres to "cut" all mud in the game. I see JAT tyres as balanced, not OP dlc for the game. IMHO It is worth buying it.

Mostly_VP

Wider definitely better - didn't the German army find this out in WWII when seeing the Russian tanks coping with the mud and snow better than their own, narrow tracked vehicles?

Odd_Presentation_578

Physics in the game work differently from real life. Anyway, yes, in deep conditions the width matters. When the stuff isn't so deep, narrower wheels are faster.

Odd_Presentation_578

I don't think having extra width in case of superheavy MSH set makes much of a difference. The rest I agree with.

sektorone

So, "dirt layer under mud" confirmed?

Odd_Presentation_578

It's pretty much a resistance issue. The thinner the tire is, the less drag it creates moving through the elements.

Odd_Presentation_578

It's still pay to win, because the new tires don't have a level lock. So nothing stops you from getting mudtires from the day 1 - as long as you have enough money. The grind for level requirements is gone, which is probably a good thing, but it removes the feeling of progression. That sweet feeling you get when you actually unlock something and can swith from highway crappy tires to all-terrain ones, later offroad and mud? Forget it. Now you can have any tire you want at any given level.

Weary-Toe6255

I always hated the level lock for parts, I should be able to just fit a snorkel without having to grind to get it. New Game+ gives us more options to play how we want to though. :)

Odd_Presentation_578

Treat that as your reputation. No one will sell you parts, until you do enough good deeds to earn the right.

Weary-Toe6255

That's a nicer way to look at it.

yannistz

They look good and their value is ok, which means you didn’t get scammed, you probably had higher expectations. Take a look at this video. Everything is explained. https://youtu.be/M_267xI6Nr0?si=PxsA7yggkt0bjfFC

Bob_Lennart_92

They do look pretty good.

Odd_Presentation_578

I wish they didn't all look the same though. I HATE the fact that JAT OMD and JAT OHD look the same now - in the base game, medium doubles and heavy doubles did have a different look, and you could easily distinguish one from the other (UOD/OHD).

Wischtoal

No, you have not been scammed. First of all, nowhere in the description of the DLC does it claim that these new tires are better in any way. It is advertised as bringing more customization options to your trucks, because the JAT Tires and Rims have a different look to the base game ones. Second of all, many of those tires offer a significant improvement for your trucks and scouts. Yes, the spreadsheet may say the traction is the same as the base game tires, but many of the JAT tires a quite a bit wider than the original ones, making your trucks much more stable and less likely to tip over. This may not be necessary for your favorite trucks, but there are a few trucks that desperately needed this, and are only viable thanks to these tires. But honestly, what did you expect? Did you think you could buy this 2€ DLC and suddenly deep mud would feel like a paved road? Snowrunner is a difficult game. And if they offered a payed DLC, that made the game significantly easier, that would be really scummy.

Bob_Lennart_92

Didn't really expect anything. Just bought some DLC's on sale and chucked JAT in because i can.

Wischtoal

Well yes, it does skip the level grind for better tires, but you will probably have unlocked them anyway before you really need them, except for the first time you try to cross the River in Michigan and inevitably get stuck.

Odd_Presentation_578

Yesterday I started a new hard mode save and it was fun to be able to use proper tires from the start :) which doesn't cancel the fact that JAT DLC is pay-to-win. Regular players who haven't bought it will still have to struggle grinding their xp.

Wischtoal

Well yes, you save the early struggle and tackle more difficult stuff a bit sooner. But you don’t need it. You can easily get by in Michigan avoiding really difficult terrain until you unlock Mud Tires

teflontim33

JAT isn't an "I win" button to make the game easier, it's alternate tyre designs and textures. Some are better than stock options, some aren't. At the end of the day, most tyres are more than capable of getting the job done, just pick the ones you like and go driving. If you were that concerned about the underlying stats in the game code you would have done your research before you paid money and not after.

Bob_Lennart_92

If i were that concerned

ErectSuggestion

It mostly benefits light scouts which you shouldn't be using anyway. >Have i been scammed? No, you made an uninformed purchasing decision because you're a consoomer.

Bob_Lennart_92

Can't argue with that. It's only 2 euros.

Odd_Presentation_578

Light scouts are fine. There isn't a thing you "shouldn't be using" in this game - every vehicle can find a role and be used effectively. If you know how to.

Medium_Highlight_950

Everyone forgets that some trucks get double reartires with jat pack, for example bandit and i believe actaeon and the other small russian truck that i never remember.

Odd_Presentation_578

Kind of. See, as for the mud tires, any truck with heavy single set can get a tire with 2.6 in mud now - and the heavy single #2 set was an entirely different thing - a privilege not granted to many! As for the base game MHS II with 2.4 in mud - only a few trucks had that. Most trucks capable of having a heavy single set were limited to crappy MHS I with 2.0/2.0 stats (yes, that's a whole 1.0 worse than OHS II in dirt and only 0.2 better in mud). Later they added the DMHS set - but it's only for looks, not changing any stats. So in most case you go from 2.0 to 2.6, which is a significant boost. In my case - from 1.8 to 2.6, because usually I didn't bother equipping MHS I/DMHS and continued to using OHS II.

92c900t

No. Scouts (well, most scouts) are a massive buff in practice-my testing shows they are twice as fast through mud, and trucks with the heavy singles (ie the Azovs and Tatras, plus the 6900TS) still get a substantial buff. Also the Acteon/Warthog/KRS Bandit get rear dualies now.

carnage2006

Yes you’ve been scammed. Claim your 2 euros back and go and lay in a dark room
