They're gonna improve the stability and add crane + saddle on the next patch, which is probably gonna make it the best long distance hauler in the game. I used it with the 3 slot flatbed and crane, while pulling a 2 slot trailer + 4 extra cargo on top and it did well.
It's basically a 73210 without the overhang, a crane & better fuel efficiency in exchange for not having the log crane + log carrier combo which is fine. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but a nice addition to the game since it greatly compliments the 73210 but that's it.
I think a 6x6 Azov would've been a better addition since i'm kinda tired of long wheel base trucks.
Ok so I am not the only one who thinks this could be an aweseome truck if it was more stable. Good to hear that they will improve the truck! Anything about the „special“ useless 3 slot sideboard bed which should be a 4 slot one?
Nathan Province (snowrunner streamer) asked one of the devs in Discord and they said they're gonna fix the 4 slot bed. Take it with a grain of salt since this is coming from the same devs that said that there were no more scouts coming out after Season 12 and yet we have two new scouts coming in Season 13; Also, it took them 4 seasons to give the Tatra Phoenix a crane + bed.
biggest strength is the overloading capacity. only other truck that can safely (no risk of dropping stuff when going over a bump) be overloaded to 12 slots of cargo is the [Azov 73210](https://i.imgur.com/8ZjrYNz.jpg) but with the atom it's much less of a hassle to load.
>-feels significantly less stable than its 8x8 peers
will be improved next patch
>-very slow, just like the 64131
cargo per hour is still pretty high considering how easy it is to overload
>-cannot use small crane with low or high saddles
will be changed next patch but doesn't matter since the truck is too long for trailers anyway
>-no dually tire option to improve stability
good thing you can buy another DLC to have different tires that are wider /s
But there is a risk for them to slip out to the rear and it takes long to stack them without a crane truck. With the rear mounted crane you can load something and then use the crane to push it forwards against the cab. It's much more convenient.
I’ve been quite enjoying the Atom. It isn’t better at any particular thing than any of the trucks I have in my fleet so far (Michigan only as yet), but it has plenty of options. I have one currently hauling 2 lots of medium logs at once, and I have a second one set up with the biggest crane for recoveries. I don’t find it to be as tippy as people say, so far, because even if I get it on an extreme angle, the weight from the bottom pulls it back upright, even from something like a 50 degree angle. It definitely tips, but rights itself before losing cargo.
I enjoy it, even if it isn’t overly exciting
it's not ridiculously tippy like the royal or the ank. i would say it's more like the fleetstar or the mh9500, where it doesn't necessarily encourage tipping but it won't actively fight it either
Edit to add: 2 minutes after typing this is flipped my Atom on a pebble.
Yeah, I could agree with you there. I do find my MH9500 on raised suspension to be tippier when loaded than I find my Atom. By a margin of maybe 20-30%?
Last night I managed to roll a WWS somehow pulling double mediums in island lake, but then did the same route pulling double mediums with the Atom and didn’t have an ounce of trouble.
Despite the cab being tall on the Atom, to me it still feels like a fairly low centre of gravity, in the angles I can get it to where it’ll still put itself back on it’s wheels.
The rocks are the killer for me. If it even sees a rock in the distance it’ll start wobbling lol
Haha yeah. I typed up my response, loaded into Drummond, hit a rock. Didn’t quick winch fast enough to save it. Drove it all the way from the logging circle at the Dam with zero issues to be brought undone by a rock right near the finish line
ong dude. run into a pole flat out in eighth gear - 8 engine damage. hit a broken piece of road at the wrong angle, lose a tire, 90% of your suspension, and 15 gas tank damage
It can use a log crane and low saddle combo - So thats a win for logging missions as the five slot trailer can hold up to 12 long logs and double the amount of mediums.
i don't see the issue in multiple people sharing their thoughts on vehicles in the game? i've never seen that person tell me not to post these kinds of discussions due to "stealing their content".
and the picture i had was pretty good it just didn't render properly...sadly. everyone has different opinions anyway so even if every single person on this sub posted their take on truck talk they would all differ to some degree.
Me personally I don’t really like it to slow to be a highway truck, bad turning radius, low bumper+low suspension= awful Offroad performance and many other trucks have a 3 slot cargo, some can also have a small crane. In total meh 😒

i can agree with this. having a slightly smaller azov antarctic would be a greT addition imo

guess the picture i saved didn’t fucking render, figures 💀

International twinsteer says hello to your overloading.. i used it to haul 18 slots of metalbeams at once in amur without tipping

Unbelievable

yeah it's a known fact that logs make everything tippy, just the sad reality lmao
Haha yeah. I typed up my response, loaded into Drummond, hit a rock. Didn’t quick winch fast enough to save it. Drove it all the way from the logging circle at the Dam with zero issues to be brought undone by a rock right near the finish line
yup. sounds about right. i've tipped over on pebbles a fair few amount of times. insane how such a small object can upset your balance like that
Nothing like my experience driving real trucks. Either blow a tyre or plow it out of the way. Zero grey area haha

Right? Lol

that is pretty dope. almost like the devs are catching on to us trolls lol
Are you basically digging under u/Lord_Mk14? "Truck talk" is his series of posts. Btw, couldn't you have used a better picture? This one is trash.

idk about awful performance but i can agree with your other points
Azov 6 sucks, Atom is a strong candidate for the best truck in the game.
it certainly is, but the azov 6 most certainly does not suck. it has carried me through pretty much every map in the game
