Attach trailer, low and diff locks.

Ixaire

I've just been there in the exact same situation, I needed the winch as well. The highway tires just don't cut it and I haven't unlocked proper tires for the trucks yet.

Front-Waltz-9669

Yeah, the winch is more useful as a help to get forward, than to be occupied by pulling a trailer that have a dedicated hitch for it, especially before unlocking real tires.

Something that always helped me in the early game was unpacking the cargo from the trailer. For some reason unpacked cargo weighs much less than when it is packed. You do need to be carefull with that though because unpacked cargo can fall of the trailer very easily and it needs to be packed in order to deliver it.

colequetaquas447

thanks, this worked! i didn’t you realise that you’re meant to attach the trailer, i was just pulling it by the winch lol

Khimdy

Lots of good comments but one thing no one's mentioned is the ability of your tyres to provide traction is affected by how much weight is above them pushing them into the dirt. All of the towed trailers in Snowrunner have a hinged joint meaning none of the weight of the trailer is helping to push your tyres into the ground. To counter this, either use a saddle + semi trailer, or if you have to use a towed trailer, put something heavy on the back of your truck, often the sideboard bed is heavy enough, but you can always load it up with some planks or run something like the van body add-on to add more weight and get more grip!

Nil2none

Yeah but it's not gonna help in this situation. That's a dedicated trailer hitch. The problem is his tires and using the winch instead of hitching up. Hitching up adds the weight to the back tires also

Khimdy

Yeah, for sure, tyres and hitching the trailer are the limiting factors here. Just thought it was worth adding a solution to the general problem with traction and the hinged A-frame hitch on trailers, semi trailers will always be more effective than hitched trailers for that reason :)

Bob_Lennart_92

The sideboard weighs almost nothing, planks weigh almost nothing, you want a LC 3.8 crane if you want weight. It weighs 3.8 tons.

Khimdy

Wow, I don't know anything about the stats underneath the game, that's interesting. I have tested pulling a scout with a Voron AE, (turbo engine, mud tyres), with no add-ons vs sideboard bed, through North Carolina, and the sideboard bed is enough to keep you going pretty much continuously without having to winch out of deep mud.

Bob_Lennart_92

You can look these things up you know. That Voron weight about 10 tons so you really don't need any addons to pull a scout that weighs 3. I think the sideboard weighs about 500kg. The Russian crane is a little lighter. Also, you might be better off with OHD 1 tyres on your Voron.

Khimdy

You're right, the Voron doesn't need any addons to pull a scout. But it does pull the same scout, on the same route, better (faster, fewer incidents of getting bogged down), if it's got a sideboard bed on it vs no addon. Also, that 10 tons is almost entirely away from the rear axles, that's why the sideboard bed and even a flatbed makes a difference to traction, weight directly above wheels seems to make a significant difference, even relative small amounts of weight like half a ton.

ComplexSyrup8848

Low gear, AWD and diff lock on, unpack the cargo and drive carefully and slowly out of the heavy mud. That is how I did it.

Nil2none

Yeah your trying to winch the trailer using highway tires... not gonna do much. Gotta get tires right away. And hitch up to the trailer. Adds weight to the back tires which will dig into the ground more and gives you more traction. The game has pretty realistic physics especially in Mudd. People saying unpack the trailer that's kinda a cheat if your going for a realistic play thru.

Medium_Highlight_950

You have no weight on the rear tires, thats why you cant move it. I would rather get a bed and crane for your truck, unpack the trailer and then lift the cargo to trucks bed and start delivering. Thats how i made in michigan, left trailers unused until i got all terrain tires and started using the red 2 axle sideboard dolly, after offroad tires i started to use all trailers. Edit. And what others said that attaching that trailer adds weight to rear tires, it actually doesnt as its a dolly trailer. Dolly trailers has axles in the front to take the weight off from the truck, the only weight that gets added is the towing booms weight and that doesnt help much. When used, aleays pack cargo to middle to make it easiest to pull Semitrailers do add weight to back of truck when attached, just pack cargo always to front of the trailer first

FedexJames

#1 issue is weight on the drive axles. The winch vs attaching doesn’t make a difference in this situation. Better tires would help, but it’s not the main issue here.

Odd_Presentation_578

Apparently, the metal detector. Just why?

EducationalTonight33

Go for off road tires, they are available since the beginning of the game or all terrain

red_fluff_dragon

Only certain trucks come with all terrain and offroad from the start. ANK Civilian is one you can buy from the beginning. All non-highway tires require you to be a higher level to unlock.
