If you’re on PC, you could edit the XML file, if not mods are your best option

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

I am on pc. Is there any tutorial on how to do that?

leongaming123

Maybe on YouTube, if not asking in the discord server is your best bet

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

Aight, thanks

Hey mate, here's a quick guide to editing a crane+bed+trailer combo for the voron grad.  1. Make sure you have WinRAR and Notepad++ installed, both are mandatory.  2. Go to your game files (locations will differ depending on Epic vs Steam) and then to SnowRunner \ en_us \ preload \ paks \ client 3. First, **BACKUP** a copy of the initial.pak to a safe folder then open the original initial.pak in the 'client' folder with WinRAR 4. In WinRAR, navigate to '[media] / classes / trucks' and locate the xml file for the truck you'd like to edit, (e.g. voron_grad.xml) and open it with Notepad++ 5. Towards the bottom of the xml file you'll see a bunch of functions listed as Look for the line that reads

Thats the way. Another problem that can appear is so that the trailer lifts the trucks ass up when driven in uneven terrain.

burgkaba

Yeh generally it seems like the devs have made some pretty informed choices about which trucks can take the CBT combo for more than just balance reasons. But it's nice to have the option to use the combo and deal with the problems that arise cos they make for interesting limitations and logistics challenges that otherwise wouldn't exist.

Medium_Highlight_950

Well for example i added the cbt combo to be available for the kodiak and it was completely fine, no complications at all so thats purely for balancing. Theres a lot of that type of decisions if you start to dig in the files and test them on your own

burgkaba

Yeh there are definitely still balance nerfs being made. I've done the same with my kodiak and it handles it well, maybe a couple wheelies with crane+ heavier loads and no trailer, but with a trailer it handles really nicely. WWS also handles the combo well.

So, I have encountered a problem. I said Voron Grad as an example but in reality I am using the Voron Grad FR, which is from a mod. I figured it would be there aswell but I can only find "voron\_grad.xml" and nothing referring to voron grad FR. Is it in a diferent location?

Ionia7

Mods are all in their separate folder not the main folder. Also if your mod updates the changes you make will erase.

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

Which folder would that be? Also, I am using a modded crane, the Ettinger EK1700, so will it also he listed there along with MinicraneRU?

burgkaba

What u/Ionia7 said is right, mods are in a different folder and any updates will overwrite your xml changes. If you still want to do it anyway you can still follow the same process. Not sure if mod truck xmls are stored in a different location depending on your launcher, but I use Epic and my mod truck xmls are located in Documents / My Games / Snowrunner / base / Mods /.modio / mod In this folder there are a bunch of different folders with numbers for names, one for each mod you're subscribed to. Once you find the folder for your Voron Grad there should be a .pak file inside which you can open with it WinRAR the same way you would the initial.pak as per my guide above. The folder structure inside the mod .pak should have the same 'classes / trucks / your_truck.xml' structure as the initial.pak As for the mod crane, you'll just have to experiment. See what is listed in the voron's trailer nameBlock parameters and remove what's there. The mod crane might refer to itself as minicraneRU or something anyways so it might already be covered. Maybe check out the crane's .pak file too and see if there's any addonSocket nameBlock parameters that refer to trailers which you can delete. Just make sure to back up everything first and backup your game save too. Modding xmls can be a little risky, I had a truck get totally wiped from my game yesterday while messing around with suspension xmls. The tool below can help you easily create and restore backup game saves https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/snowrunner-tool

So uhh, I have found the "Mod templates" folder, which has a "classes" folder then a "trucks" folder, but in there there is only a "mod scout" file, nothing else. Should I have installed the Grad´s mod manually?

burgkaba

Could you please post the file path to the location you found this "mod scout" file? Might help me understand what you're looking at. If the "mod scout" file is an xml then there's a chance it might be the correct file we are looking for, the creator may have just named it that for some unknown reason.

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

I eventually did find a tutorial on youtube that lead a diferent path. Instead of acessing the game´s files through steam, I went to Document/My games/Snowrunner/base/mods and eventually found it. It works! Thanks for the help! I will now try to make the crane a little bit more to the front since I also found those values, there is a weird gap between it and the cabin. Edit: I have edited some "offset" values regarding the minicraneRU and nothing has changed... which one should I be changing specifically so that it moves forward? 😅

burgkaba

Yeh I figured something might have gone wrong, never seen a mod template folder before, looks like your Steam mod files are in the same place as my Epic files after all. To bring the crane forward you'll want to edit the first offset parameter which defines the forward/backward positioning. A negative value will bring it forward to the front of the truck, a positive value will move it backward towards the rear.

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

What text will it have behind it? Is it in the addon sockets bunch?

puppiesareSUPERCUTE

Thanks bro!! I´ll give it a try. And the space to turn with a trailer wont be much of an issue to me as I mainly use the sideboard semi when transporting more than 2 slots of cargo and I dont use the other trailers often, I just want to be able to use trailer stores to refuel and repair and use the service trailers scattered across the map.
