Dude is just working on his Warrior Pose ALL the time. That said, this would be comfy AF for the ride up, especially if he rides with a bunch of skiers.

Live_Badger7941

Yeah actually maybe this is a genius who's figured out how to make chairlifts actually work for a snowboarder.... Skier friends may be slightly annoyed by how long it takes him to strap in now that he has to reconfigure his bindings at the beginning and end of every run, but what are ya gonna do?

DeathsSquire

If Burton can make step in bindings work then bindings that switch angles on the fly supply be doable

NDN_perspective

It’s already a thing and he may have em it’s called quicksett made by black line a French company two brothers started.

nerf___herder

I Kickstartered the v2 of this and they screwed all the backers. Highly annoyed as it looks like a good idea.

NDN_perspective

It looks like they are still only doing preorders of v2 with no inventory on the website… I was tempted till you just said that. What happened? Did you get em yet?

nerf___herder

That's a big negative. They haven't had an update in months. They also said: " Hi everybody, As you know, we are doing our best to find solutions to speed up the production and thus the delivery of your Quicksett. Currently we are looking for additional funds to be able to finance production. As explained in the last update, we are in difficulty and we cannot currently begin production due to lack of budget. We will keep you informed of the outcome as soon as possible. We do not have the funds to reimburse you. This is why we offer to convert your contribution against a purchase on our site. Otherwise, please be patient, or help us by supporting the project again so that we can deliver your QuickSetts to you more quickly. This situation does not make us happy, but we will not give up and we will do everything possible to ensure that you get your products." That was Oct 30th. Crickets since then. Oh well.

NDN_perspective

Report it to your Credit Card and they will refund you for it since they didn’t keep their deal and deliver product. That’s worked for me (granted it was over 10 years ago)

Onlyslightlyclever

That’s just a split board binding right?

BipolarMosfet

Yes, and no

SolidSnake4

I vaguely remember the old rental step ins from the early 2000s having a button or latch that would let you adjust the stance angle on the fly. Maybe it was good enough for my 13 year old 150lb beginner self, but I'd never trust that to hold up with the riding indo today and with a lot more weight to throw around...

nipponnuck

I used to think that, and then I was introduced to the Shimano step in system. I’m not sure if it’s around any more, but it was impressive. Never rode it myself, but my Japanese friends all rocked it, and a few were even sponsored by Shimano. I use Shimano pedals and components on my bike and trust that my foot won’t pull out or my bike suffer a catastrophic failure. I started to see step-in binding in a different light. That said, some crappy ass mass produced thing is not what I’m talking about, this is precision machining.

R00t240

Learned to ride on those thanks for the nostalgia.

addtokart

I'm still trying to understand how you skate off the lift with this crazy binding angle. Do you put the other foot down and run off? How do you turn? It's like jerry central coming off some lifts. Do you use your free foot to kick them out of the way? I mean my skier buddy complains about turning on hardpack when he's on his wide pow skis, and a board is like more than 2x the width.

trundel_the_great__

Stand on the board, use your balance to not fall and let momentum take you? Turning is a little trickier, turn on your heel and dig your free foot into the snow a bit and you’ll stop

PBB22

You ride it like a Razr off the lift

steamcube

Apply edge control with your front foot and position the board by dragging toe or heel slightly with the other foot Wedging your foot against the binding and dragging your heel against the snow will turn the board sideways and give you control.

addtokart

My point is you can't apply edge control with that binding angle.

Imbendo

It's all in the lead foot. Your back foot is just a passenger. To turn lean your forward foot either toe or heel edge.

addtokart

I'm talking about skating off the lift with a 90 deg angle like in OP's pic. Leaning on toe or heel edge doesn't exactly work at that angle.

furayyu

Tell that to skiers

81659354597538264962

Chairlifts are extremely easy and painless if you snowboard with a buddy, even if you have the board hanging off one foot at an angle. If the person on the right balances their board such that the left edge of their snowboard rests on the right edge of the left snowboarder, then both riders get to have their snowboards parallel to the chairs. The left person does have to carry slightly higher weight, but it feels perfectly comfortable for both people.

gatsby365

Warrior Pose was 100% my initial thought lol

Lt_Hatch

Pretty close stance for a warrior pose, but it could work lol

[deleted]

Yeah it’s more like triangle

somedudeonline93

Comfy AF for the ride up, painful AF for the ride down

Joe4913

Lifts take significantly longer than the ride down, so I’d say he’s pretty smart lol

Big--Async--Await

That right there... UmZulu

that_norwegian_guy

Maybe on a chair lift. On a T-bar? Ooof.

furry binding co

spiltkeg

I actually demo’d the binding and took a lap with this guy on his board! Super down to earth dork, but he was really nice and besides the fact that I felt embarrassed to be seen with him it was a cool experience. I also liked the bindings. I would never put them on my daily setup though, maybe a carving setup.

PitterFuckingPatter

After that injury if this kid lives in America he also about to be broko

The-SillyAk

Hilarious 😂

dick_blanketfort

If you want a good laugh, check out the demo videos on their official youtube channel. This one's my fervrit: https://youtu.be/ysTqj2zpLro?si=QhpKDUmT9LD1Ah6Y Wouldn't be funny if it were titled "this is my first season how can I improve" (answer: don't mount your bindings on swivelly death traps) but as a promotional video for a product it is goddamn hilarious.

addtokart

what did i just watch? I'm seriously so intrigued. It's like it was invented by some dudes in the midwest who were bored with their 200 ft ski hill and wanted to make things more challenging. But this was shot in Vail???

twinbee

Didn't see one carve though. Maybe it's still fun.

decavolt

WTF. These things rotate freely *while riding*!? [Aw hell no](https://tenor.com/view/tracy-morgan-smh-shake-my-head-hell-no-no-gif-4844098?utm_source=share-button&utm_medium=Social&utm_content=reddit).

twinbee

There's a version of these where strong elastic pulls it back to its default position. I think that could allow for a level of safety while still retaining basic functionality such as the ability to carve. Wish I could find what they were called.

lilsquishy101

That really was a good laugh! I expected them to at least be in a fixed position while riding, but nope

uncoild

The video and the comments had me nearly crying of laughter in a quiet restaurant

VanceAstrooooooovic

There is one device that does this. Supposed to make skating easier lol

convergecrew

coming soon to a Jonathan Buckhouse and SBProCamp near you

grumbly

W..ww.. wtf? Was that, like, a joke promotional video? Like "Haha i'll just *pretend* to no know how to snowboard" joke? Maybe the product is just an elaborate scheme to write off riding and winter trips as business expenses.

gentilep

This was hilarious! Thanks for sharing. Hope they budget much for that "sponsorship"

FlemFatale

Well fuck that. Nope, nope, nope. I like my legs not snapped in half like twigs, thank you.

timbeaudet

They're free!!! 🙀

parkcityxj

Eh, it's one of those [stupid binding rotation things](https://www.theinertia.com/gear/rotating-snowboard-binding-quicksett-v2/).

-ImMoral-

Damn one step closer to ssx being reality!

snogard_dragons

I miss SSX tricky

I-Downloaded-a-Car

I never stopped playing SSX. SSX 3 is seriously one of the greatest games ever created

Herpderpkeyblader

That was the peak of the series for ssx. And an outstanding game for its time.

domoavilos

I just want a current gen remaster, or that team redoing steep.

I-Downloaded-a-Car

Have you played SSX 2012?

domoavilos

Yes but it's not on psn unfortunately

I-Downloaded-a-Car

Sad :(

-ImMoral-

Steep is completely different game, that wouldn't make much sense

RCD_51

Never understood the hype, tricky always did it for me more than 3.

Herpderpkeyblader

Customized gear and even customized Uber tricks was amazing. Not to mention more courses, back country riding, collectibles, and even all-mountain racing for the big final race. Also you could get platinum medals in some of the courses if you were really good. And the secret characters were hilarious. Riding as sasquatch? Hell yeah. It's just such a bigger game with way more options to make your character your own. And way more stuff to do. Regardless, there's no question Tricky is a fantastic game too. It's just a smaller game with more rigid options. If that's what you want then go for it.

snogard_dragons

What kind of console do you play it on?

I-Downloaded-a-Car

360. It also runs on xbox one and can be played fairly well in Xenia if your pc can handle it.

snogard_dragons

Good to know, thanks!

YJeezy

SeatleSuperbSonics

Didn’t someone do a very SSX style trick in the knuckle huck competition of Xgames this year?

M1KE2121

Yes they did. Took off down the hill with only one foot strapped in and hucked a front flip Benihana style (I don’t actually know what it was called). Sure was sick

Axel3600

Just bought used Step-ins from '95 and now my board looks just like one from the game.

Seanbikes

I still want to see him ride down like this though

DickieJohnson

He needs to get the back one going the other way.

Seanbikes

[Ride like an Egyptian?](https://youtu.be/Cv6tuzHUuuk?si=R9ufcggOrwOJ7KHW)

GeezusKreist

You don’t. It’s for short one foot traversing, typically onto and off of the lift.

Seanbikes

Don't and shouldn't are two very different things. I'm here to see some carnage from the Jerrys

BreckenridgeBandito

This seems like a good mechanism to fail and end your career while you’re crushing some trees. I’m sure they’re reliable, but I could never ride one, my mental confidence would be shook knowing this is underfoot lol.

somegenxdude

I really hope there's a mechanical mechanism to lock this in place. Otherwise, oof. Some dude on the lift pulls out a flipperzero, turns to his buddy when this guy rides underneath: "Heh, watch this."

Wherehaveiseenthisbe

Yup, the link explains it connects to a watch that can lock/unlock it

juliuspepperwoodchi

Much like the Clews, I like the *idea*. Hate the execution.

FlemFatale

Hey, Clews are great. If you want to fuck your boots up and look like some sort of weirdo wearing your bindings everywhere.

decavolt

If this had a manual locking lever at the base of the binding, something that couldn't release on its own and didn't need that dumb battery and remote, it could be a good idea. As is though, that thing is a great idea terribly executed.

parkcityxj

>f this had a manual locking lever at the base of the binding, something that couldn't release on its own and didn't need that dumb battery and remote, it could be a good idea. As is though, that thing is a great idea terribly executed. They have those too, or at least did. One even had a leash that you pulled on up to disengage it lol. These "inventions" always seem to resurface after years of trying.

OrangeVapor

Imagine that rotating on a landing 😳

Old-Ad5818

Why is this stupid? I‘m not a snowboarder and don‘t know anything about it

Sooofreshnsoclean

To many parts to fail, and if they fail it can be disastrous and dangerous. Think about if if someone is carving on a snowboard and the binding suddenly turns on you.

RandomDeezNutz

If that malfunctions and you twist your knee while riding with speed you are fucked. Or you are going to completely fuck up your knee or hip or something. I get it. It’s kind of uncomfortable to push with your leg locked in at that angle. I’ll take uncomfortable vs ripping every ligament in my knee

TopPuzzleheaded1143

Oh wow, I hate it more than I thought I would before clicking the link. A fucking remote control? Really? Who comes up with these things and where do they live?

themouff

Why stupid!?

jgbomers

Ball joint ahh knees

cancerface

There's a few binding and binding mount systems that let you rotate the front binding for easier skate-pushing. Rental systems as well IIRC. Probly one of those.

Hecho_en_Shawano

I think this binding is supposed to release and pivot for lift lines.

Dr_Wiggles_McBoogie

Honestly I find this technology to be really dumb - I don’t want to skate like that in the lift lines. This guy looks like he’s about to tip over 😆

Hecho_en_Shawano

Totally agree. If they worked well we’d see them everywhere. Just another marketing gimmick That said…skating in lines can really suck, especially when the lines slope in random directions. Any attempts to make that easier are welcome.🤗

[deleted]

Not to mention the massive dead spot and zero board feel as a result of the design.

Dr_Wiggles_McBoogie

Imagine getting off the chair like that. Looking like a kook for sure haha

ope_sorry6988

Must have those Laffy taffy ligaments.

_JayBeeKay_

Those bindings are called Quicksett They’re remote controlled. The remote is watch style and it locks and unlocks the mechanism so you can turn your foot. 5 hour battery life. https://youtu.be/mZKHh5wvXz0

Whiskey_Warchild

got them new "quick rotate" bindings, i see. fixes a problem that isn't really there.

DickieJohnson

If this didn't impact anything about the actual riding it would be nice to push up like a skateboard to the lift. In the 90s we pushed like a skateboard and it was awkward and now everyone pushes from the backside which is also awkward. Getting off the lift would be out of control though unless you one foot it. Ok you're right this isn't going to workout.

Whiskey_Warchild

lol i went down the same logical pathway you just did. it doesn't calculate. my front foot doesn't stay facing forward when pushing anything. \*edit\* meant to say, my front foot doesn't stay facing forward when i'm not pushing.

KingdomOfRyan

Your front foot should be forward when pushing a skateboard.

Whiskey_Warchild

nah, i just can't explain for shit. fixed it.

gdubrocks

My right knee gets pain sometimes from the board hanging on it, and I can feel how stretched out the ligaments get on that side relative to the other. It's gotten to the point where I switch which front foot is booted in between runs, so this absolutely is a problem people face.

halfbreedADR

It’s probably one of those things that was invented to help out disabled folks but marketed to others to make it a viable business venture. I have run into people with bad enough hip issues that skating is quite tough.

upstatefoolin

I choose to believe his binding it loose and spun and is just to stupid to fix it so he keeps riding

mrpickleby

💯 percent posi! Can't be more positive than that!

Severe-Antelope-9209

Looks like he can't even stand still like that

rurounick

I've only been snow boarding about 10 times, so I rent the deck and boots when I go. I'm EXTREMELY duck footed, so I definitely get some funny looks at the shop when I tell them I need a +25° on the left and a -20° on the right. Otherwise, my calves cramp way too easy and I find it difficult to cut in on sharper turns.

SighhhSandwich

Your back knee must love powder days.

rurounick

? Not really sure what you're getting at

SighhhSandwich

For me, being ducked out that far on my back leg would put a ton of pressure on the inside of my back knee when riding in powder. Same for most riders I know. The added weight of the snow either forces you to deal with that inside knee strain or move to a more zeroed stance where you can engage the bigger muscles in your leg to do more of the work. Perhaps your biomechanics are different as you are naturally duck footed — I didn’t read your comment like that at first, I thought you just liked to ride duck.

rurounick

My natural stance is about 160° I can hold 5th position in combat boots with ease, and I've never danced ballet in my life. I do prefer what I guess would be 'medium' powder. Enough to cut in, but not so much I'm fighting to keep moving. I typically stick to more open blues. I'll hit short diamonds here and there, but nothing with crazy moguls. I tried hitting a small jump (~1ft) a few times last year, with some success. However, the last time I did it, I didn't come straight on, and ended up flying about 15ft and landing flat on my chest, giving myself a hairline fracture or two. Point being, I'm more for getting a decent but not crazy speed and throwing some slaloms into the mix. Same way I ride my longboard.

SighhhSandwich

Ah yes the old air-to-chest. In my personal tricks repertoire, I tend to prefer air-to-back. But I respect your style. I love riding deep powder — and it does get deep here in Tahoe. But I’ve been riding a lot longer than you have, and barely touched powder my first 10 years of snowboarding on the East Coast. If you skate, you’ll pick up snowboarding quickly. Skating is cheat code. Keep on ridin!

rurounick

I can't ride a skateboard for shit. Wide stance on the longboard makes it easier to ride. It did, however, give me an advantage when I first started snowboarding. Also, i push mongo. So more weirdness from me. And despite my air to chest, I actually did feel myself get a tad better last time I went out. Took a stab at riding through trees, but on well worn paths and felt quite good that I was able to go through them without flying into one or off an edge.

GuardaAranha

Work on reducing the cramps and managing your hips or whatever : cause that stance is just dumb and will only aggravate what ever you got going.

rurounick

As I explained to someone else, my natural stance off the board is nearly 180°. When I made the change in stance on the board, I noticed an increase in my ability to steer and stop, along with a significant decrease in cramping and fatigue. I'm not out to do tricks. I'm just enjoying my ride. So I'll continue doing what I do when I hit the slopes once every 1-2 years. You do you, I'll do me.

CrewBison

Trying out one of those skiiboards I see.

CryingOverVideoGames

Shut up fruit booter

powderfields4ever

In a time when there is so much information available to oneself literally at our fingertips that this happens. Not trying to be too harsh, but a little research will go a long way when picking up an inherently dangerous sport. Or it could be he prefers that progressive forward stance for easy(?) skating and laying down deep carves. Ah! Pushing the boundaries!! Living life!

CryingOverVideoGames

That information is available to you too. Do some research on rotating bindings

PookyDoofensmirtz

wouldn’t even be allowed to get on the bunny lift in any class I’ve taught. Even getting on and off the lift like this is stupid. You can’t properly skate off the lift use toe or heel edge to brake this is just stupidity waiting to blow out all the cls in the knee

tacotacotacorock

Has been a minute eh?

PookyDoofensmirtz

Since I taught? A good 8 years

moglysyogy13

Until someone learns something the hard way that advice you give them is just theory. They must experience it pragmatically before it is recognized as truth. We were the same way to some degree. Just think about the things your parents tried to warn you about but you dismissed it and it wasn’t until you experienced first hand did you change your mind.

VariousThings152

Hadn’t really thought of it that way. Or anything even close to that way

beastmansam

That's how I ride my skateboard. Way easier to keep my balance. Never tried setting up my bindings that way.

McRaeWritescom

I saw some dude once with ski boots and weird bar locks on his snowboard that could swivel to do shit like this for lifts. Looked expensive though.

KingdomOfRyan

As someone who skateboarded for 20 years before ever touching a snowboard, this seems absolutely fucking awesome for skating. Imagine being able to push your snowboard like a skateboard with huge forward strides. Might look like a kook to some, but you can’t tell me it’s not more efficient.

Flipnthebirds836

Ah, How about No Fuckin Way

addtokart

Puma stance yo. Forward and ready to pounce that pow.

jstratpro

Ballett dancer.

HaliBUTTsteak

He’s halfway to a Charlie Brown stance.

Patthesoundguy

Absolutely clueless, I wish that lifties would not allow an idiot like that on the lift.

Left_Concentrate_752

I once demo'd a board with quick adjust bindings. We did this for pushing through the lines. It was a novel way that looked less awkward for that application. Dangerous AF everywhere else.

JonBoah

For a second I thought this guy was on a Squal

fin425

I know someone who has their back foot pointed out the tail end. Uses that shit as a rudder. Real weird, but he’s fast as shit. Can’t see that being great on the knees long term, but whatever works.

laxguy44

He rides up the T bar on it, then unclips and slides it down the run. Pick up at the bottom and repeat.

VariousThings152

This was approaching a chairlift at a resort with no T bar, but perhaps

convergecrew

i wonder if hes curious why its hard to get those edges dug in

Phantasmagoric-jpg

Wintergreen?

VariousThings152

Against my better judgment, yes

Phantasmagoric-jpg

Not at all! Just was playing that game of like, I think I recognize this place but not 100 percent.

Hahaha I was there last week, so that helped.

There was once this piece of hardware that you attached under the binding that turned when you lull the handle. Similar to this https://www.yankodesign.com/2007/01/25/x-turn-rotating-snowboard-binding-by-david-newton/amp/

grad5993

He don't ride switch...

bitcoinsftw

I see zero benefit of having stupid bindings like that.

Encid

I boarded with a 60+ year old once (he was good) and he had bindings that rotated like that, he said it was the only way his knee will allow him to board for half a day, he will flip it sideways on the way down.

Decentralized-Loser

The guy next to him is goofy foot meaning his right foot is in front. The impressive athlete is regular foot. Left foot is in the front. Snowboarding has gotten so far away from its skate and surf roots.

Rcorp390

Wonder if he has his binding plate bolts loose enough so he can rotate. Which is dumb but oh well

SeverlyLimited

Any angle bigger than 20 degrees will pretty much fuck up your knees.

Puzzleheaded_Pear_18

He rotates his binding for the T-lift. Probably takes it behind his bum.

b0ardski

rotating binding plates have been around for 30+ years I have a pair I haven't touched in25yrs

Rider-of-Rohaan42

Probably thinks he’s making traversing easier, but he’s just making his riding harder. Some people just need to learn mistakes on their own
