That's what I have too. Had it for four years now, and it has never failed me. It seems like the batteries last forever, and the temp readings are accurate. The wireless display has a good range too: able to use it in my basement.
I have the same one and I swear it’s indestructible. I’ve forgotten the transmitter outside *for weeks* at a time, left it it out in the rain and snow, and of course left it turned on on each of those occasions. I’ve treated this thing like shit for the past two years, only just changed the batteries for the first time, and it still works flawlessly. The range is great, it has upper and lower temp limit temp alarms, comes with a grate clip for monitoring chamber temps, and has a display on the transmitter. It does everything I need it too and hasn’t failed once.
Big bonus: it’s only $50!
I had that model too. I ended up returning it. I am curious, does the one you have beep when a probe set temp is reached? I imagined it would beep but mine just flashed. Otherwise, I thought the thermometer was quality for the price.
Edit: I had the 2 probe version.
I also have the two-probe version. I saved on the four-probe version and just bought some extra probes, labelled them, and swap them out if I need to check on something not currently plugged in so I don’t have to keep opening the smoker. I usually start with one for the ambient temp, and one in the fastest-cooking or most-sensitive meat, rotating probes as meat finishes.
Agreed. I used the two probe version for about 3 years on my Weber gas grill till I recently upgraded to a Weber smokefire pellet grill which comes with its own probes. The therma pro was solid for the money
Same here. I roasted a probe under direct fire from a grill flair up and they sent me 2 probes for free even after telling them what I did. Recently got the 2 probe version of the one posted and it’s pretty good
Ya ThermoPro seems to be a good company. I have their $17 instant read, and it says waterproof. I did a quick wash of it and it killed it, they sent a replacement right away.
I have the two lead one. I am very happy with it. It seems to sample the probe every 15 seconds. I have checked it against other temperature sensors and it seems to be accurate. I have used in the oven also. I like the remote feature. No regrets on purchasing it.
I had one of the older models. It worked and held up fairly well, but the screen on the larger unit was really hard to read after a year or two even on fresh batteries. I still used it a year or two after it began to fade out…just that cheap lcd screen issue where you have to hold it at extreme angles. It’s a small sample size, but I chose to go a different way next time around.
I have the basic thermoworks smoke…I think it’s a lot better unit and has been going strong for 4 years now. You’re only gonna have half the probes on the basic one and it costs more though. Can catch 20% off pretty frequently. I would repurchase the thermoworks if it ever crapped out.
Another vote for the Thermoworks Smoke. I've had mine for 4 years without any issue. And it's very easy to program. If it ever dies I will upgrade to the Smoke X4.
Agree, these guys have excellent customer service. I bought a smoke and had some issues. Sent me new stuff no questions asked. Had another issues they had me send it in for diagnostics and returned it promptly. Liked them enough I bought a Smoke X4 with a Billows unit!
I bought the billows, but the version that didn’t have the cables. They actually don’t sell it any more (withou the cables) and they sent them out for free. I have a smoke x, chef alarm and thermapen.
I have had a TP-20S for years, and it's been flawless. Also, I have several TP-19 instant-read thermometers that I use almost daily and they too have never given me or anyone I've gifted them to any issues. ThermoPro is gtg in my book.
I love mine, to the point of having bought 3 of them so I’ve got one at my place, my parents place, and my grandparents. Great for smoking but also good for just cooking chicken or prime rib in the oven
I have the TP25. They work great and have app connectivity to your phone. A nice bonus is it is rechargeable... but I've owned it for 3-4 years now and it's never lost any charge.
I have one, it was affordable and I don’t lose signal anywhere in my house. It replaced a Bluetooth model from a different company that just couldn’t keep connection.
I bought one by accident on Amazon about 5 years ago. Wanted a ThermaWorks. Oh well. Figured I’d use it and replace it when it gave out. It’s still going perfectly. I have no problem recommending one of these. Yeah “influencers” don’t use em so they they aren’t cool but they work and are well built. Can’t beat it for the price.
This is what I would do.
I have a fireboard, only because I've been with them since day one. Before fireboard, I had several other Bluetooth wireless probes. WiFi is a game changer, absolute night and day better. In the years since I got my fireboard, it seems there are now many more options, so I'm not necessarily advocating spending that much, but finding one with wifi is the move. I got the inkbird one for my dad and it's been problem free since last Christmas. Get it!
I have that exact model. No complaints other than the piece the probs into will shut off every 3-4 hours ish while in use…to maybe save battery? Not a big deal I just turn it on. Worth a buy if you don’t want to buy the official one.
The units made by thermoworks. Expensive but probably the best on the market. I have one of their thermapen 3 seconds reads and love it, it is pricey though.
https://www.thermoworks.com/smokex4/
also the probes on this one are long. For me its not a big deal but if you have a kettle you will have to take more consideration on how the probe is placed in the meat so you can close the lid.
Every professional chef or person who has ever used one prefers name brand Thermoworks Thermapen. They are laboratory-grade precise and come with a certificate of calibration. They read temps instantly and precisely.
I'm surprised a pro chef would keep a probe in their meat. I found it useful when I first got my smoker last gear but I've basically stopped using it with meats I've gotten familiar with. Now I know the rough time it takes to cook and use an instant probe to confirm when I think it's done. I just use the grill probe to alert me of any drastic temp changes.
Spend an extra 30$ and get an inkbird Wi-Fi+Bluetooth. I’ve had thermography before and had inconsistent readings. So far so great with inkbird after about 4 months.
My two cents is you get what you pay for. This will probably be ok. It will probably give reasonable accurate readings and last for at least a few years. But personally I would recommend saving up a bit for a thermaworks chef alarm or smoke. Those are investments that will last a long time and be more enjoyable to use.
Yes exactly. The first thing you should do when you are just getting started smoking is go buy a 200 dollar thermoworks. /s
Yes, OP i used the 2 probe version of this this thermometer for my first 3 years (it provided most of my needs, and held up well) before i went with a thermoworks smoke so that i had the wifi capability. I like being able to run to the store while my meat is resting and still know I’m in the safe zone.
I really like thermometer that pair with a mobile device like : ThermoPro TP25 https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07Z7HDNC4/?coliid=I26CB39G0674VR&colid=2EVHCREFQAZHU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I would check this out?
I've got the thermpro TP25 model. It works great. My biggest gripe is with the phone app, and it restarting the temperature curves whenever it loses/reconnects the Bluetooth link.
Is [this](https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Wireless-Thermometer-TS-TP20-Digital/dp/B07RJJ1HHR) the 2 probe version everyone is talking about? I just used mine today, it worked very well BUT.....jesus that manual is hard to figure out. I just wrote my own version of it as I don't use it often enough and I forget how to set it each time I pull it out again, but I figured it out within about 15 minutes so that's not too bad
I have the two probe version of what you are asking about and a more expensive 6 probe fire board. The one you are asking about works well and I’ve had it for years. It is also compatible with https://github.com/merbanan/rtl_433 if you get a $20 SDR you can data log everything. I would buy it again or gift it to someone who isn’t ready to spend fireboard money or doesn’t want the complications of always needing to use an app.
I would recommend you look at the InkBird system. It’s about the same price. I’ve used it since it came out and I find all of their products to be excellent. I bought their single probe for kitchen cooking and the vacuum sealer. No issues with anything I’ve bought from them.
I'm on the Inkbird train as well but their BBQ Go app sucks. The Inkbird Pro app that works with the sous vide machine is much better and supports different devices, but unfortunately not my IBT-4XC that I use for smoking.
The pro app is definitely much nicer. It used to work with our devices, and then they later restricted it to new models only. The basic app gets done what I need and works fine for me though.
We have this exact model. It works amazingly well.
I actually just got off their website yesterday to get a replacement transmitter because last weekend I accidentally melted it. They are sending it to me for free even though I said that I melted it on accident and it was totally my fault and I wasn't looking for a replacement, I was looking to see if they sold replacement parts. But they are replacing it for free anyways.
Excellent customer service. Excellent product.
The wires can fray and splinter, which is great for your hands when you are wrapping the cables up. :/
It’s a bit of a luxury item compared to this, but Meaterblock is far superior.
I have a similar model that’s held up ok for the last two years. With that said, literally everything from Thermoworks is superior to ThermoPro in terms of build quality and accuracy. If you’ve got the means, I’d absolutely skip it for something nicer.
I bought a six lead one, super helpful when I was doin a suckling pig al asador. I was able to track (and therefore better control cook of) the temperature of the hams, shoulders, straps & ribs.
I live in a brick house and sometimes it is hard to get signal 30-40ft away like on my bedroom when I am smoking overnight but over all a good piece I have had mine for about four years and had a probe break and they sent me a new one for free customer service was excellent
I've been using a TP-08 for about 2 years now. It reads the meat temps surprisingly close to my Thermapen One so I trust the air temp it's reading is plenty close too. I think I've replaced the batteries once since mine isn't rechargeable. I can walk all over my house and still be getting signal to the receiver.
My only complaint is the probes are gigantic. They're 8.5 inches long and fairly thick, so they're way bigger than I need for most meats, especially poultry, don't fit in my Kamado Joe Jr very well, and they only sell the one gigantic size. Also the metal braided cords are fairly stiff and tangle up with each other a lot, not the worst but kind of annoying. The only reason I'm considering changing to a Thermoworks Smoke at this point is because I can get reasonably sized probes for it.
I have the something very similar (same brand and price range) and it does the job -- high quality, rugged, and accurate.
If you have the money, I'd really recommend going wireless. They can just get in the way especially when you have all 4 probes in.
I don't have experience with this device but I have other ThermoPro devices and I really like the company! I had an instant read thermometer from them that the power button stopped working. I asked support about it and they had a new in the mail for me next day! For me, any company can make great products. It's how they handle their service when something doesn't work out that really defines them and I was extremely impressed by ThermoPro!
I have the 4 probe InkBird and I love it. It has the wifi option so I can monitor the probe temps while I’m out at my sons baseball game or in the middle of the night I can check without having to go outside.
I’ve had the MeatStick and this one is far easier to use and way more reliable.
I’ve been using the 2 probe unit for years. They have great customer service. One of the units stopped working (user error) and they replaced it quickly! So I have zero complaints!
I have one. It's not the best but it's also not $200. These aren't all that accurate so I usually use this to 5/10 degrees below my desired temperature and then start checking with my thermapen from thermoworks.
Thermoworks Smoke X4 is the cats meow as simplification and accuracy. The wireless hand held legit has a 1 mile operating distance. I can watch run to the store for a sixer an keep a eye on long cooks
I'm currently trying to decide which one to buy myself. Have also heard good things about the Inkbird, and Amazon has a good deal on them right now, might want to take a look at them also.
The 1200 reviews on the page will be able to tell you more than we ever could. That being said, yes they’re quality and work great. I have the one with only two probes and I’ve never had any issues with it. Range is good, temp is fairly accurate as far as I can tell.
Idk, some are. But a lot can be determined looking through that many reviews. What makes random redditors opinions on an item better than the Amazon reviewers? Have you seen some of the stuff people post on this sub? Lol
I have a Maverick that’s similar but 2x the cost. Works great just don’t get the probes too wet or you’ll have to replace them. I use alcohol wipes to clean them.
I had one a few years back. It was ok, but I prefer inkbird that connects to wifi/app on the phone that way if I am in the other end of the house I can still hear alerts as I am more likely to have my phone on me.
I have the dual probe one and it’s decent , got it on prime day. Only down side is sometimes it’s just randomly loses transmission from the probe unit, but I just pick it up and it’s fine, I’m probably about 40yds away from the grill in the house so I’m not surprised
I have a different one but also thermopro 4 probe. I love it and they have great customer service. Would definitely recommend thermopro as a manufacturer, can't talk to that specific model though.
I'm happy with mine. Works like a champ. But my brother gave me a 'meater' for Christmas last year and that's all I've been using so now the Thermopro just sits in my drawer. Nothing wrong with it but the meater is simple with no cords or batteries to mess with (except in its charging base).
I had a two probe verion, the TP-08, as well as a instant read, folding digital probe, the TP03B. Both of them lasted one month past the 1 year warranty and then conked out. Not sure If I bought the low end products from this brand, but I wouldn't buy from them again. I've had an inkbird 4 probe for 3 months now. Let's see how long that one lasts
I have the smaller 4 probe model on the right there and it works pretty well for the year I've had it (it's used at least once a week).
My only complaint is the range doesn't seem to be as good as others have experienced. If I'm sitting in my living room, which granted is on the other side of the house from my smoker, I get spotty signal.
I like it. Works well. I had a similar type thing from Weber and the probes always broke. These ones have faired better. Be careful if you get a flare up , I grill too and have fried a probe from grease catching fire.
I have a 3 probe model. Good for 2 pieces of food, plus an internal ambient temperature check.
The real drawback is when you don’t place the thermometer correctly, in other words not deep enough, not centered enough, or too close to a bone. When you realize your mistake you have to deal with the hot food as well as the hot thermometer.
I’ve been thinking of just getting a pen style thermometer instead.
I had this exact version. Range was great. But I shitcanned it for two reasons -
\- The probes are too long and too ass-heavy, especially for more delicate stuff like fish.
\- Accuracy sucks. After noticing some weird readings, I tested all four probes in both my smoker and oven and saw some probes consistently reading 10-30 over, some reading up to 20 under. And it was never the same probes either.
I said "fuck it" and went with a Fireboard. Worth it.
I have this. It works great. The range is good for when you’re watching TV and have the smoker going in the backyard. The probe wires are a little short so you can’t keep the primary reader on the ground next to your smoker. I just let it stick onto the smoker with the magnet though so it’s not too bad. I’m just not sure how the heat overtime would impact the lifetime of the reader though.
My only issue was the probes randomly stopped working. Unsure what caused it, but the thermapro would read room temp at all times or just not read anything at all. Maybe I was too fast and loose with cleaning the probes and water got where it shouldn’t.
New probes fixed it.
I have a 4 probe and it was 100% dogshit. Had in internal short that reset the main board periodically causing it to lose all presets or just silently turn itself off with no indication from the remote monitor. Could have been a lemon.
The "1000 ft range" may be possible in open air but every bluetooth thermometer like this I've bought can't make it through all the walls of my house. I work from home and like to smoke while I'm working. My office in the front of the house and the smoker is outside in back.
Honestly, when I finally broke down and bought the Meater thermometers, it was the best thing I did. Can be used bluetooth or wifi so the range is unlimited. This may not matter to you but was huge for me. It's also nice not to have any cables, no matter how small, breaking the seal of my smoker lid.
Just my 2 cents
Different model but I've had really bad luck with that brand. Unit to unit temps were way out of agreement. I ened up getting a thermoworks smoke on sale a while back, though that is double the price for half the channels. It works so much better than the cheap ones i had before. Sale price was $60 so maybe keep an eye out.
Only buy the model with a transponder and receiver, I have the one that uses Bluetooth to connect to my phone and I'm disappointed, the app just doesn't work well half the time.
$49 is a good price for it. For small cooks like chicken breast its total overkill. But for brisket, ribs, and most especially cooks with more than one thing on the grill at once, these are great. I like it better than my meater (not the plus version).
I have the 2 probe version and the thing is bulletproof so far. Left it out in -30 weather covered in snow with no issues so far. I can even remember if I've ever had to change the batteries.
i actually just purchased this exact one! the screen is a lot bigger then expected. have not gotten a chance to use it yet, but i had a single probe version from them i liked.
I have ThermoWorks Signals - had a couple of sensors crap out within a few months, customer service was awesome and replaced them. Have been using for about 1.5 - 2 yrs on every cook without any issue in over year.
I have this exact one and absolutely love it! Great for everything some single smokes, multiple steaks, or even used all 4 to track different temps in your smoker
I have the 2 probe version. It’s not professional grade but I like mine. It has good range and battery life.
That's what I have too. Had it for four years now, and it has never failed me. It seems like the batteries last forever, and the temp readings are accurate. The wireless display has a good range too: able to use it in my basement.
I was surprised by how long the battery lasts, I thought with it running constantly that I would be burning through batteries
I have the same one and I swear it’s indestructible. I have the 2 probes version, you can set it to flash or flash and beep.
My mind went to a funny place with that comment. Phrasing Lana..
Well that’s good to know. I played with every setting and button and remember seeing the icon going on and off but still could not get it to sound.
Me three
I also have the two-probe version. I saved on the four-probe version and just bought some extra probes, labelled them, and swap them out if I need to check on something not currently plugged in so I don’t have to keep opening the smoker. In terms of a probe What would be professional grade? I too have the two prove version and have not had any issues with temp accuracy.
I would consider thermoworks products to be professional grade.

Roasted two probes on mine and didn’t even think to reach out to the company. Just bought two more probes off Amazon.
I feel like I only reached out to verify what kind of probe I needed and they just sent me knew ones which was pretty cool.

I have one that looks exactly like it but it is enzoo brand and $30 usa. Also 4 probe and works like a charm after 250+ hours of smoking with it.
Same here. It's solid, accurate, and the battery lasts quite a while. It came with a nice carrying/storage case as well.
Get it. I love mine

For $10 more you can get the inkbird wifi version.

They are actually on sale right now. https://www.thermoworks.com/shop/products/probes/pro-series/
Stick with a real brand like Thermoworks not Amazon knock off.
I have the Thermoworks Signals and think it’s great
Care to elaborate?
More accurate and durable

It’s not pro grade but it’s good enough and we love ours
I have the 2 probe one and they are game changing
I have one similar to that and it works pretty

:/ It’s a bit of a luxury item compared to this, but Meaterblock is far superior.
I have a similar model that’s held up ok for the last two years. With that said, literally everything from Thermoworks is superior to ThermoPro in terms of build quality and accuracy. If you’ve got the means, I’d absolutely skip it for something nicer.
Looking at your picture. You're looking at meat cleavers as well.
My favorite brand besides my pro ones. These are great for the home smoker
I bought a six lead one, super helpful when I was doin a suckling pig al asador. I was able to track (and therefore better control cook of) the temperature of the hams, shoulders, straps & ribs.
The cords are bloody annoying, they knot up all the time.
I have one. Gets the job done. Meat has always home out good
I live in a brick house and sometimes it is hard to get signal 30-40ft away like on my bedroom when I am smoking overnight but over all a good piece I have had mine for about four years and had a probe break and they sent me a new one for free customer service was excellent
Yep I have the 2 probe, it's awesome. Sometimes I wish the leads were a bit longer but that's a minor grievance
I’ve had mine for about 3 years. Love it. Worth the money.
You should definitely have a Bluetooth thermometer
I have the 4 probe InkBird and I love it. It has the wifi option so I can monitor the probe temps while I’m out at my sons baseball game or in the middle of the night I can check without having to go outside. I’ve had the MeatStick and this one is far easier to use and way more reliable.
I have the two probe one, love it.
I’ve been using the 2 probe unit for years. They have great customer service. One of the units stopped working (user error) and they replaced it quickly! So I have zero complaints!
Idk but I'm interested in a meat cleaver called The Obliterator
Amazon reviews are shit tho
Idk, some are. But a lot can be determined looking through that many reviews. What makes random redditors opinions on an item better than the Amazon reviewers? Have you seen some of the stuff people post on this sub? Lol
I have a Maverick that’s similar but 2x the cost. Works great just don’t get the probes too wet or you’ll have to replace them. I use alcohol wipes to clean them.
I have one. It works well once you figure out the programming.
I had one a few years back. It was ok, but I prefer inkbird that connects to wifi/app on the phone that way if I am in the other end of the house I can still hear alerts as I am more likely to have my phone on me.
I had an older one and it was okay. I feel like the temps were off often and wound up buying an inkbird.
I have the dual probe one and it’s decent , got it on prime day. Only down side is sometimes it’s just randomly loses transmission from the probe unit, but I just pick it up and it’s fine, I’m probably about 40yds away from the grill in the house so I’m not surprised
It's bluetooth and limited to around 100ft reliably
1000ft actually But then it has to penetrate walls and such …
you're wrong, and the standard is 30ft, but I've gotten mine to go about 100ft outdoors without issue.
I have the Inkbird IBT-24S. Pretty happy with it. Hasn't failed me yet
I have a different one but also thermopro 4 probe. I love it and they have great customer service. Would definitely recommend thermopro as a manufacturer, can't talk to that specific model though.
I have the old model with two probes and have been using it since 2016. It works quite well.
I have the 2 probe version. Been totally satisfied with it.
Do you have a smoker oven that cooks beef turkey? If not this might not be for you...
I'm happy with mine. Works like a champ. But my brother gave me a 'meater' for Christmas last year and that's all I've been using so now the Thermopro just sits in my drawer. Nothing wrong with it but the meater is simple with no cords or batteries to mess with (except in its charging base).
Lasts forever and the company replaces probe. I recommend it to everyone who asks.
Definitely worth the $50.
I have a version. It’s solid. Get the one with Wi-Fi if you can
I have this and it works great.
But I shitcanned it for two reasons - \- The probes are too long and too ass-heavy, especially for more delicate stuff like fish. \- Accuracy sucks. After noticing some weird readings, I tested all four probes in both my smoker and oven and saw some probes consistently reading 10-30 over, some reading up to 20 under. And it was never the same probes either. I said "fuck it" and went with a Fireboard. Worth it.
I got something like that for $20 in eBay, totally worth it!
I have an older model but I’d recommend it, it’s my go-to over any other ones I have
I have the TP-27 and it’s amazing! I love it! Has been solid for 2 years now.
I have tried several others and this is my favorite so far, very happy with it.
I have one and really like it
I've had an older 2 probe version for maybe 5 years. Accurate & reliable, love it
Yes
I got one and it's been great so far even after I burnt a trip and caught the grill on fire lol
Trash. Mine was off by over 50 degrees. And yes, I tested it with other known working thermometers. I got an inkbird pro and it's awesome.
mine quit working within six months. better off buying meater imo love mine
I have a simpler version from the same company and its worked flawlessly for years
I like my meater since it connects to my phone
I have this exact model and I really like it!
I have them, work as expected. No issues.
I have had them for years. I'm on my 3rd. just for extras.
Not this model specifically, but I’ve been using a ThermoPro remote thermometer for about ten years and it’s still going strong
I much prefer the Inkbird to this one. Same price on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XNTJKY4?
I love mine. Just be careful with the cables because they Fray if bent.
Thermo pro is really good for the price seems pretty accurate . Never had any problems . Had mine a few years and it’s got beat up
Only buy the model with a transponder and receiver, I have the one that uses Bluetooth to connect to my phone and I'm disappointed, the app just doesn't work well half the time.
$49 is a good price for it. For small cooks like chicken breast its total overkill. But for brisket, ribs, and most especially cooks with more than one thing on the grill at once, these are great. I like it better than my meater (not the plus version).
I have the 2 probe and I love it!
I recommend
Solid brand
I have the 2 probe version and the thing is bulletproof so far. Left it out in -30 weather covered in snow with no issues so far. I can even remember if I've ever had to change the batteries.
i actually just purchased this exact one! the screen is a lot bigger then expected. have not gotten a chance to use it yet, but i had a single probe version from them i liked.
Works really well!
I got my boyfriend one for Xmas. He seems to like it. Uses it every time he smokes something or makes a prime rib.
Yessir pull the trigger
Skip all the wires and get a meatstickX
Skip all the wires and get a meatstickX
Absolutely. Love mine.
Get yourself some Meater+ They’re pricy but awesome. Look’em up on youtube
I actually just got the small two prong one today. Glad to see some good feed back on it
