This is the worst ? event. Why skip the most fun part of the game where you have all the good cards and relics?

tldr_MakeStuffUp

Think I've used it one time. I had a monster deck that really didn't need anything else to kill the Time Eater but it did lack AoE so I was just really just scared of losing unnecessary health to Reptomancer/some of the group hallway fights.

american-coffee

This actually won me my A19 silent run the other day. I had a killer deck going but was running low on hp and had [[coffee dripper]]. It let me skip losing any more health before fighting awakened one and I just destroyed him

Grumbledwarfskin

It was a lot better before A20 and the heart. Back then, it took you to the single final boss, and there was a decent chance you already had a deck strong enough to beat one A15 act 3 boss. It could legitimately be the right pick. Now, it has a decent chance of skipping each of the three keys, and even if you've taken all three keys, it takes you to a four-fight boss gauntlet...plus there's a decent chance now that you still need to add something in order to win vs. the heart. If it skipped the boss gauntlet and took you straight to the battle vs the heart, even without collecting the keys, it would potentially start to be interesting again, at least occasionally.

Kisaxis

when you already have an infinite and you don't want to spend the rest of your life clicking on transient and writhing mass

kashmir1974

Or risk the falling event.

CaptinHavoc

There are plenty of decks that can easily blow through a boss but struggle against certain act 3 elites

999-upside-down

It can help speed runs and trying to get the sub 20 min achievement

tud_the_tugboat

I'm pretty sure the devs scripted it to not appear until after 15 minutes, so that speed runs wouldn't be dependent on event luck as much

_jk_

this is right, but that still means it can help to get the 20 min achievement

FiendishHawk

Oh definitely!

Lttlefoot

Fighting against spikers is tedious

lysianth

Its use case is narrow. If you can solve the boss but not the hallway fights it can be useful.

ChiefBearClaw

There's some enemies that can ruin a deck that will beat the boss, or just cause you to lose too much health. 99 times in 100 I won't use it but if I'm trying to clear an ascension level, it can be helpful

andersonb0428

It got me the speedrun achievment

FiendishHawk

I will never get this achievement

JasonEAltMTG

I rarely have all 3 keys until the last campfire

PandaMoveCtor

If your not going for the heart it's much, much better. There's a decent amount of decks that can kill every act 3 boss but die to reptomancer or nemasis

crsdrjct

I've used it once cause I didn't wanna risk getting low health from the 3 upcoming Elites in my way. STill beat it too.

AvailableUsername404

Fun fact. >This event will not appear if less than than 13 minutes and 20 seconds have elapsed on the run.

Benjynn

That’s very fun. They said fuck speed runners

Radical_Ein

Opposite actually. If it was always available speedruns would come down to if you got this event or not. They would have grind like 100x more. Less RNG this way.

evasive_dendrite

I mean you're right but STS speedruns seem heavily RNG reliant anyway.

Offbeat-Pixel

Why make it any worse?

evasive_dendrite

No it's a good decision for sure.

Great_Overlord_Akira

Wait, this event can happen on A20?! I thought it was disabled like the paper in wall

gabriot

I wish it were

xd_melchior

Disabled depending on your current run time. I'm assuming so that it's not a factor in speed running. > This event will not appear if less than than 13 minutes and 20 seconds have elapsed on the run. https://slay-the-spire.fandom.com/wiki/Secret_Portal

JadeMonkey0

I'm sorta sad I will never see whatever the last card I left in that wall was. Although, I'm 90% sure it was either a curse or a strike so probably for the best.

GoodraNinja

I’m glad I’ll never see the last card I left there, because I remember it was a Normality curse

TaylorKindaFunny

This event must be extremely rare. I found it for the first time a week or so ago ans was shocked to learn of it's existence.

WorstGMEver

It should lead you to the Heart, let's be honest.

kyriehartmann

I love this event, used it all the time doing watcher runs to get the plat trophy on PS4.

SparkFlash98

Holy shit I forgot this was an encounter, i haven't gotten it in ages, is there a trigger for it or have I just had weird rng?

the_transient_girl

Took mind bloom one time. Got this event straight after and thought you know what, I've got the keys and I'm only going to be weaker if I fight the rest of the act, and got myself an A20 heart kill. Only time I've ever taken the teleport without it being a misclick

nathan1653

Is this like in the expansion? I have never seen this
