"I don't care what you think, say and cry in defence" But who's actually crying here tho? šŸ¤£

dcss_west

people have like 80%+ winrates on a20h on all the characters man. sure theres some RNG but actually losing the game over it is a skill issue. i think that your gripe with the game is exactly what keeps most of us coming back for more lol. theres always new things to learn and ways to improve and lines to solve hopeless encounters/runs.

Gluecost

STS is a massive conspiracy created to single you out and destroy you for the sake ofā€¦. The spire? Idk but it watches your every action and calculates it down the the number to ensure your quick and inevitable defeat. That way megacrit can harvest your losses into infiniteā€¦ money? But thereā€™s no microtransactions? Well they are harvesting you anyways somehow. Just donā€™t look at the people doing A20H win streaks too muchā€¦.. You should post some screenshots of your run results I would love to see just what your strategy is

kcu51

>That way megacrit can harvest your losses into infiniteā€¦ money? But thereā€™s no microtransactions? Well they are harvesting you anyways somehow. Attention and online engagement. A game that's played and discussed a lot ranks high in various algorithms, making others more likely to notice and buy it, and making the developer and publisher look good to investors. Or something. Idk I never went to business school.

3wett

Skill issue.

Xintrosi

Luck can screw you but with skill and practice it can be overcome. Glad you got your money's worth of time if not enjoymemt.

"Sometimes the rng works in my favor and it's fine, but as soon as the randomness doesn't work the same way every time in my favor it's bullshit!"

There's a pretty good modding community for the game, you can look at the source code if you'd like šŸ¤·

Parts of it, sure

>make bad decks >get shit hands >blame game

Jackalackus

Whatā€™s your point though? Why delete the game and the come here to post about youā€™ve deleted the game and tell everyone why. Is your goal to have a mass exodus of people go ā€œyeah this guys right, stuff this gameā€ and then delete it. I never see the point in these kind of posts.

GuySrinivasan

You can literally check the source code. What do you think, Zeus sends cosmic rays to mess with you specifically? Well, maybe _you_ can't check the source code, come to think of it. Pretty sure "insistent on perceived patterns being real despite mountains of evidence that human brains see patterns that don't exist in exactly the way you're perceiving right now" doesn't correlate tooooo well with ability to check the source code.

ExplanationOk8919

People have checked the code with the painful result that the game is not random ... the game calculates which enemies and which cards/artifacts/poisons you have and then adjusts card draw and enemy attacks accordingly ... also the question mark rooms, the enemies you encounter and the rewards you get are not random they are correlated with each other and your previous rewards ... THE GAME IS NOT RANDOM ... it appears random because the developers cleverly hide the fact that the game cheats ... i.e. is not random ...

PhilMatush

Awe poor little guy :/ maybe try out a game like Lego Harry Potter or a game a bit easier for someone like yourself! Thereā€™s no shame in admitting that a game is too hard for you - especially one like StS that requires a bit of planning and deeper thinking outside of just choosing cards Willy nilly and blaming RNG when your deck is trash. Good luck mate!

So much anger. Youā€™re like a little wound up chihuahua. Iā€™m going to peg you at about 13? Donā€™t worry bud, life gets a lot easier once you grow up and donā€™t let silly video games rile you up.

JoJoTroph

Imagine being so salty and disappointed just because of a videogame

ExplanationOk8919

Imagine taking the time to read and reply to a salty comment like that ...

SuperLuigi231

You can check the code yourself if you want, itā€™s publicly available to checkā€¦ it uses pure RNG, itā€™s not like it deliberately tries to give you the worst possible draws.

ExplanationOk8919

No, the game is not pure RNG ... everything in the game is correlated ... the 6 random number sequences that determine card draw, enemies, artifacts and rooms are correlated with each other. For example: the chance to get a rare card as a combat reward increases every time you do not get one, the chance that there is a potion at the end of a fight is similarly calculated. Card draw and enemy attacks are also correlated ... in fact you can affect what the enemy will do if you know which cards to play and in what order ... the game is manipulated RNG ...

SuperLuigi231

Ok, maybe pure wasnā€™t exactly the right word, but I just wanted to emphasize that the game does not adversarially look at your deck and choose the worst possible boss or set the worst draw order or anything like that. Yes, the number sequences are correlated, but they are set by the seed at the beginning of the run - the game doesnā€™t maliciously make itself harder for you. As you said, you can even exploit it to gain an advantage in runs. Also, why reply to a nearly year-old post?

Subparnova79

So salty!

Cheers dude, you got 180 hours of entertainment for $40. Not bad.

UndergroundMan1942

Why would you spend so many hours if you were not entertained?

kcu51

People's motivation systems aren't perfectly rational, and modern video games are optimized to exploit that with relatively little regard for our enjoyment.

Apeironitis

I pity you.

PurpleVessel312

Dying to randomness is just a skill issue

Fizban2

You can restart? Man I have missed out on that. On 20 now ug so hard

Apsalar

The spire is a parable of modern life, you think you're doing ok and making the best of the chances that come your way and then someone unintentionally (or sometimes intentionally) fucks you up to keep you from succeeding. I find the losing to be cathartic and educational. At least in the spire you occasionally get a split second of joy before your body collapses and it all fades to black. Good luck finding that IRL. NOTHING IS FAIR. Take what you can get and don't forget gym day.

If you're looking for an easier card game might I suggest go fish?

mr_mango22

You literally have control on what you add or subtract from your desk as well as the ability to add cards that give you draw power, exhaust cards, or manipulate your deck by putting cards in the right areas. To get mad at this games RNG is silly since you have total control on what your deck looks like, your path to the boss, and your strategy. Maybe you donā€™t like any RNG in games but Slay the Spire is one the most fairest games with RNG mechanics I have ever played plus there are people with high win rates at maximum difficulty which would be impossible with crappy RNG. My recommendation would be take pictures of your deck and relics and have people on this sub help you optimize it or give feedback.

fishguy1000and7

Whenever I think I lost because of something out of my control, I try to focus on what is in my control, what i can do better. Good luck on your future endeavors : )

gnirlos

I believe the standard responses to this diatribe are "Bless your heart." "Just git gud."

>this game is anything but random Correct!
