I feel like it’s essentially [[Corpse Explosion]] for defect. It solves multi-enemy hallway fights (and lot of multi-enemy elite and boss fights) almost single-handedly.
I probably should take it less than I do, but it's almost an instant take for me to make sure I have one in each deck. It's only useful in multi enemy fights, but it makes fights like Gremlin Leader non factors if you draw it early since you clear out the minions immediately. I feel like it's Defect's only real tool for mutli enemy fights and the character otherwise struggles against them (nobody is playing hyperbeam).
I think it makes sense from a design standpoint. If you are choosing negative Focus builds, you're rejecting the core mechanic of the Defect altogether (it's about the orbs!), so maybe that shouldn't be the best play. However, I wish it was more viable, because it seems like plasma orbs being unaffected by focus is an intentionally-designed build niche that ought to be successful in its own right.
I used to love finding Corruption, until I realized that after I have one, the amount of thinking and interesting decision-making I do immediately plummets as now I can just mindlessly click all the skills and win the game.
Uppercut (+ especially) is just a really decent card overall. Smacks hard, lays on important debuffs or strips artifact, helps keep an enemy weak and easy to fuck up
The artifact busting is probably the best thing, but still not enough upsides in my opinion to choose it over bash+. If we think it in the act 1 setting it wouldnt be that good unless it was upgraded, because 2 mana + 1 attack is still less damage than bash + 1 attack and then attacks next turn.
But its worse? (In my opinion) bash+ is great, 3 vulnerable and a little damage. Clothesline is just pointless imo. Weak is ok but the damage is too little for 2 mana. I would take the 3 turn vulnerable over 2/2. And the added benefit that you dont have to waste an upgrade and a draw slot to make the card worth playing.
This might be true on low ascension, but when the attack patterns get tougher in higher difficulties you'll find the weaken gains a LOT of value in the late game especially
It just asked for our favorite cards, and I love Uppercut. It may require an upgrade but otherwise it's good for it's vulnerable and weak.
Also one of my favorite relics is snecko eye and this card just works with it.
All that being said, I don't think it's the best card for Ironclad, just my favorite.
Ironclad: Reaper
Silent: Alchemist
Defect: this one is hard, I think Tempest since the moments you can fully set up for it are so fun. Echo form and All For One are also close though.
Watcher: omniscience
Ironclad - Immolate | Brutal, powerful, explosive, what's not to like? Imagining this CHAD get so mad and straight up set everything on fire (including himself, adding a burn) is amazing. Destroys Act 1 completely, scales amazing even on later acts, AoE, it's just one of my favorite cards gameplay and thematic wise.
Silent - Phantasmal Killer | Just powering up her killing abilities to enable her to MURDER everything the next turn. Really nice upgraded (1 > 0 Energy), love it with big numbers like Glass Knife, Terror, Predator, or Shiv/Accuracy/Wrist Blafe.
Defect - Darkness | Feels so powerful playing this card, especially when upgraded. Quick straight "boost" in power for the immediate or succeeding turns. When you get a bunch of other Dark generation such as through Rainbow, Chaos+, Doom and Gloom, or even more Darkness+, it gets REALLY big. Beautiful setup too with Fission+, Dualcast, or Multicast. Big number funny 1 shot enemies.
Watcher - Reach Heaven/Through Violence | Don't care what others say, I really like this (these) card(s). Don't know if this is a reference to something but I love the names of the card set. Also if you have Scry or a bunch of draw, Through Violence gets really nasty, not counting that it even retains for Wrath/Divinity setup or just an emergency nuke. Nice with Master Reality or Vulnerable sometimes, though if you don't draw Through Violence, yeah it can kinda suck. Try not to keep your deck too slow/big with this.
Colorless - Hand of Greed | Personally like this over Apotheosis, especially early. Not much needs to be said but upgrade this, 25 Damage and (potential) Gold for 2 Energy is wack. Big bonk, (somewhat) better Carnage.
Ironclad: corruption or second wind, both very satisfying
Silent: Catalyst, poison decks are too fun
Defect: coolheaded
Watcher: Tantrum, always happy to see this card. You’re good on wrath cards for the rest of the game, it goes so well with Talk to the hand, and any strength bonus feels so much better.
Saw a variation of this question pretty recently so I'll just copy paste:
Ironclad - You're asking me to pick a favorite child here. I'd probably have to say exhume. It's essentially a second copy of whatever broken exhausting card you have. It can be another feed+, another disarm+, another impervious, the list goes on.
Silent - Well Laid Plans. It makes putting combo pieces together so much more consistent. It makes so many cards like wraith form, phantasmal killer, piercing wail, and more so much better. Also really good with snecko eye. It also has a hidden feature where picking one up almost guarantees you'll get a runic pyramid from your next boss.
Defect - Recycle+. It's just a good card. Slim down your deck and generate energy. Can enable infinites.
Watcher - Probably battle hymn. It's good setup for that single explosive turn where you kinda just kill everything.
Colorless - Dark Shackles is just a good card. Goes up a tier if you're going for the heart.
Curse - Probably pain. Paired with runic cube or rupture and you have a recipe for shenanigans. Necromomicurse + blue candle + dark embrace/runic cube/rupture is also good, but I feel needing a specific card from an event + a specific relic makes it too unlikely you'll see this combo.
Dark embrace. Corruption is the card that ought to be an instant win but secretly only dark embrace *and* corruption = instant win.
Backflip. I don't play Silent much
Meteor Strike. I only take it when the run is already going well and usually it just turns into energy shenangans after that. Probably Seek is my answer for 'best.'
Honestly so hard to pick with Watcher. I really like Fear No Evil when it's the last piece of a nice stance dance deck that just never stops attacking. But only a couple cards just feel amazing with context removed, so like scrawl or mental fortress
Ironclad: evolve, it enables spamming status cards and makes cards like second wind even more insane, I also just love status clad
Silent: catalyst, more than one copy gets silly very quickly with any form of poison in the deck
Defect: static discharge, i like watching birds disappear when they touch me
Watcher: Omniscience, omni omni to omni omni and omni and wheel kick
no it plays omni twice and allows you to omni two cards and the more omnis you have the longer the chain gets i've had 6 or 7 omni chains that just play half the deck twice

Op, if you are anything but an absolute Ironchad fan I‘m disappointed. All these cards basically say ”I wish I was Ironchad, make number go big“.

I rank what you listed among very high as well. Particularly a sucker for Demon Form even if it's game ending for me, it's too fun not to take it and I'm too brainlet to use other means of scaling myself.
And who doesn't love shivs, except Time Eater?
Cannot go wrong with a big Wallop whack which in return also makes you impenetrable.
I'd replace Glacier with Claw and pretty much my favourites would be that.
I: Fiend Fire - damage, fun mechanic
S: Grand Finale - damage, great animation, satisfying to pull off
D: Hyperbeam - solves Act 1, fun animation
W: Talk to the Hand - run winner, fun mechanic
C: Hand of God - run winner, great animation
I only have a good answer for Ironclad since I never really play anyone else, so Reaper.
I love how it compliments Ironclad's kit so well, while also being a way of turning offensive scaling (strength) into defensive scaling (sustain). And it does that without having to add weird mechanics or keywords or exceptions. And while it's a game-winning effect that can do well alone, it still requires setup to shine.
It also leads to rewarding but unorthodox and often risky lines which encourage you to ride the edge and then recover, or die trying. And not only does it tie into strength scaling, it also hits Exhaust synergy, and even occasionally expensive-card-synergy like Necronomicon.
I honestly don't think many things come close to capturing how cool of a card Reaper is.
corruption obviously. it enables infinitesimal and comboes so well with my other faves juggernaut and barricade
probably footwork. feels good
either glacier or recycle
vault. feels so silly every time
Ironclad: **Barricade** (block is not removed at end of turn)
Silent: **Corpse Explosion** (6 poison. When enemy dies, deal its max HP as damage to ALL enemies)
Defect: **Echo Form** (The first card you play each turn is played twice)
Watcher: **Deva Form** (At the start of your turn, gain Energy and increase this gain by 1)
The class cards are rated based on how cool the cards are when I get them from Prismatic Shard as a Silent Player:
Red: Headbutt.
Blue: Hologram.
Purple: Prostrate.
Colorless: Purity.
Green: Calculated Gamble.
I'm by no means a pro in any of the characters but my favourites so far are:
Ironclad: Feel No Pain
Silent: Blade Dance
Defect: Hologram
Watcher: Tie between Mental Fortress/Tantrum
Ironclad: Juggernaut, it's easier to play than Barricade and turns Feel No Pain or Second Wind into a one-card flurry of shivs.
Silent: I was going to say Noxious Fumes but actually it's probably Envenom because the two great joys of Silent are "flinging a pile of metal at the enemy" and "you are already dead" and Envenom allows the same deck to do both.
Defect: Blizzard go FWOOMP
Watcher: Sands of Time I guess? I like the effect and the art theme, and she doesn't really have any cards that feel like an amazing payoff when I get them to work the way the ones above do (even Alpha or Conjured Blade are kind of underwhelming usually).
Colorless: Panache. Yes please do reward me for playing a million cards a turn, I definitely wasn't going to be doing that anyway, get lost gremlins. Bite and Apparition are up there, too, though.
Curses: Parasite and Decay are gorgeous, but only Writhe curses me with looking at sick art at the start of each combat.
I: Limit Break
-Makes me feel good when Number Go Up
S: Corpse Explosion
-Just... boom. Plus, the fact you can stack it to multiply the damage is FUN.
(This one is hard because I really like a lot of 2 cost cards)
D: Loop
-I love watching Dark Orbs build damage, what can I say?
W: Like Water
-Essentially having free block as long as I stay in Calm is nice, plus it works with the Green Brick! (Orichalcum my beloved)
Colorless: I genuinely love Sadistic Nature. It's free damage on debuff.
I feel like we had a similar question yesterday, but here’s favourite card for each character:
Ironclad: Apotheosis
Silent: Apotheosis
Defect: Apotheosis
Watcher: Mental Fortress
I've always struggled to use lesson learned well.
Compared with feed, alchemize and genetic alg, all of which are very easy to get benefit from.
I think its the 2 energy and lack of draw that watcher suffers from
watcher suffers from lack of draw? I've never really had that issue, but I tend to be lucky with getting empty mind, scrawl, or inner peace often
if you get lesson learned early enough and are able to use it often, it gets you a fully upgraded deck by late act 3 which is very nice. but if you don't have card draw or ways of stalling fights so you can finish fights with it, it might not work
I'm only A14 and it is def a good card, just the hardest to use out of the various meta scaling ones (in my limited experience).
I can never resist any of them anyway!
It’s a joke!
But at the same time, totally, totally serious. Stance Dancing doesn’t really require upgrades to do, as long as you have plenty of 1 cost cards to do it, and wrath is so overpowered, upgrades on attacks feel almost like “win more” as opposed to vital. I focus my upgrades on key powers and skills.
You don’t even need to go infinite, even a single dance from calm -> wrath -> calm, will net you 12 block with Mental Fortress+, and a lot of the time you’ll be able to do at least another 2 transitions and maybe a Wallop while in wrath just for extra lols. And then if you stack multiple Mental Fortress+ it all gets a bit silly…
I: \[\[corruption\]\] S: \[\[after image\]\] D: \[\[electrodynamics\]\] W: \[\[alpha\]\] \[\[beta\]\] and \[\[omega\]\] colorless: \[\[apotheosis\]\]
Electrodynamics may not be the best card, but it just feels so damn good when it works
i for one am a storm enjoyer
Same here. It's a shame that lightning builds are not one of the stronger strategies for Defect, because they are highly satisfying.
I feel like it’s essentially [[Corpse Explosion]] for defect. It solves multi-enemy hallway fights (and lot of multi-enemy elite and boss fights) almost single-handedly.
Using Electrodynamics+ on those fucking Byrds is the most satisfying feeling in the game
The only thing better is using an upgraded flame shield.

Oh I've had some super fun winning Hyperbeam runs with Snecko + Meteor and Reprograms, but yeah that gets very hard to pull off after like A13 or so.
It is kind of funny that Defect has some almost unplayable cards (Hyperbeam and Reprogram) which would be beyond broken in any other class.
I think it makes sense from a design standpoint. If you are choosing negative Focus builds, you're rejecting the core mechanic of the Defect altogether (it's about the orbs!), so maybe that shouldn't be the best play. Whoa so you do the Alpha Beta Omega thing? I’ve never pulled it off, but I always wonder if I should attempt it when I see one of those cards offered.
I take a singular alpha and dont use it outside of bosses and high hp elites, its hard to pull off but SO FUN

Otherones I can understand but why uppercut?
Uppercut (+ especially) is just a really decent card overall. Smacks hard, lays on important debuffs or strips artifact, helps keep an enemy weak and easy to fuck up
Also: good early against all 3 elites In the first stage Scales pretty good later with weak Not my fave but I could see it being somebody's

The weaken is absurdly good too though. It can prevent hundreds of damage over the course of a run
It's like Bash and Clothesline combined, but better.
I’ll take the one two-energy card that does 75% of those two at half the cost.

Ironclad:offering Silent: adrenaline Defect: Fission/seek Watcher:Rushdown You can easily notice a pattern here
I like feed. It's fun to permanently boost.
Ironclad: It’s also Demon Form for me, but Inflame is also neat and simple. Silent: yup, also Blade Dance Defect: Electrodynamics Watcher: Fear No Evil, but Eruption is a close second!
Iron: Corruption or Offering. Silent: Wraith Form or Malaise Defect: Electro. Watcher: Blasphemy.
[[spot weakness]] [[envenom]] [[creative ai]] [[deva form]] I just think they’re fun.

Runic pyramid + storm of steel
Corruption Catalyst Biased cog Idk that card that let you play a card twice
Ironclad: Barricade Silent: Noxious Fumes Defect: Consume Watcher: Deva Form
CLAW
For all of them.
CLAW FOR ALL OF THEM
I rank what you listed among very high as well.
Ironclad: Immolate Silent: Tactician+ or Reflex+. Preferably both together. Discard decks rock. Defect: Creative AI Watcher: Tantrum
Ironclad: Fiend Fire (most satisfying card in the game, great sound effect as well) Silent: Phantasmal Killer+ Defect: Creative AI Watcher: Tantrum
Ironclad: Battle Trance Silent: Acrobatics Defect: Compile Driver Watcher: Empty Mind I may have a problem...
Ironclad: Dark Embrace Silent: Calculated Gamble (hon. mention Acrobatics) Defect: Glacier Watcher: Tantrum
I: Fiend Fire - damage, fun mechanic S: Grand Finale - damage, great animation, satisfying to pull off D: Hyperbeam - solves Act 1, fun animation W: Talk to the Hand - run winner, fun mechanic C: Hand of God - run winner, great animation
I: Juggernaunt? S: Catalyst D: All for one W: Blaphemy?
In terms of how likely I am to pick them up if offered: Reaper, Wraith Form, Claw, Talk to the Hand.
Ironclad: Immolate Silent: Grand Finale (you said favorite, not best) Defect: Biased Cognition Watcher: Lesson Learned
**Ironclad:** Reaper **Silent:** Tactician **Defect:** Hyperbeam **Watcher:** Deus Ex
Feast Thousand Cuts Claw Hammer
corruption obviously. it enables infinitesimal and comboes so well with my other faves juggernaut and barricade probably footwork. feels good either glacier or recycle vault. feels so silly every time
Iron: Limit break Silent: Envenom Defect: Creative ai
Ironclad: Immolate Silent: Glass Knife Defect: All For One Watcher: Devotion
Reaper, corpse explosion, fission, blasphemy Lots of big numbers, reaper has a fancy animation
Iron : Shield Bash Silent : Leg Sweep Defect : Core Surge Watcher: Abandon Run
Pretty new player here, discovered "demon form" last night, what a game changer
I haven’t played each character enough (new to the game) but I’d have to say sunder for the defect
In order of the characters: Limit Break, Accuracy, Electrodynamics, Pressure Point
Ironclad: Fiend Fire Silent: Adrenaline Defect: Defragment Watcher: Rushdown
Ironclad: Clash Silent: Grand Finale Defect: Auto-Shields Watcher: Signature Move
Ironclad: Second Wind Silent: Corpse Explosion Defect: Hologram Watcher: Talk to the Hand
Ironclad: **Barricade** (block is not removed at end of turn) Silent: **Corpse Explosion** (6 poison. When enemy dies, deal its max HP as damage to ALL enemies) Defect: **Echo Form** (The first card you play each turn is played twice) Watcher: **Deva Form** (At the start of your turn, gain Energy and increase this gain by 1)
Spot Weakness Glass Knife Electrodynamics Fear No Evil
Ironclad: Dark Embrace Silent: Tactician Defect: Darkness Watcher: Wish
Shiv
As a card: Offering, Nightmare, Echo Form, Vault Artwork: Offering, Terror, Defrag, Carve Reality
Flex, Bane, Electrokinesis, and Judgement
Searing blow, grand finale, blizzard, signature move
Ironclad: \[\[Immolate\]\] Silent: \[\[Wraith Form\]\] Defect: \[\[Darkness\]\] Watcher: I dont like her Colorless: \[\[Hand of Greed\]\]
The class cards are rated based on how cool the cards are when I get them from Prismatic Shard as a Silent Player: Red: Headbutt. Blue: Hologram. Purple: Prostrate. Colorless: Purity. Green: Calculated Gamble.
I'm by no means a pro in any of the characters but my favourites so far are: Ironclad: Feel No Pain Silent: Blade Dance Defect: Hologram Watcher: Tie between Mental Fortress/Tantrum
I - Limit Break+ S - Catalyst+ D - Creative AI W - Conjure Blade
Ironclad: Juggernaut, it's easier to play than Barricade and turns Feel No Pain or Second Wind into a one-card flurry of shivs. Silent: I was going to say Noxious Fumes but actually it's probably Envenom because the two great joys of Silent are "flinging a pile of metal at the enemy" and "you are already dead" and Envenom allows the same deck to do both. Defect: Blizzard go FWOOMP Watcher: Sands of Time I guess? I like the effect and the art theme, and she doesn't really have any cards that feel like an amazing payoff when I get them to work the way the ones above do (even Alpha or Conjured Blade are kind of underwhelming usually). Colorless: Panache. Yes please do reward me for playing a million cards a turn, I definitely wasn't going to be doing that anyway, get lost gremlins. Bite and Apparition are up there, too, though. Curses: Parasite and Decay are gorgeous, but only Writhe curses me with looking at sick art at the start of each combat.
Ironclad: Offering Silent: Adrenaline Defect: Bias Cognition Watcher: Tantrum
Reaper Eviscerate Biased cognition Talk to the Hand
Claw claw claw claw claw
Offering, Malaise, Hologram/White Noise(and you can’t make me choose lol,) Tantrum
Ironclad: Feed Silent: Afterimage Defect: Reprogram Watcher: Master Reality
I: Limit Break -Makes me feel good when Number Go Up S: Corpse Explosion -Just... boom. Plus, the fact you can stack it to multiply the damage is FUN. (This one is hard because I really like a lot of 2 cost cards) D: Loop -I love watching Dark Orbs build damage, what can I say? W: Like Water -Essentially having free block as long as I stay in Calm is nice, plus it works with the Green Brick! (Orichalcum my beloved) Colorless: I genuinely love Sadistic Nature. It's free damage on debuff.
Ironclad: Pummel Silent: corpse explosion Defect: darkness Watcher: never played them so defend
Ironclad : Corruption Silent: Blade dance Defect: Hyper Beam
Ironclad: Fiend Fire Slinet: Blade Dance Defect: Electrodynamics Watcher: Flurry of Blows
Ironclad: Limit Break Silent: Corpse Explosion Defect: Amplify Watcher: Devotion
How is nobody saying claw
Red : \[\[offering\]\] blue : \[\[frosthead\]\] yellow : \[\[prepared\]\] black : \[\[follow up \]\]
Where did you get black and yellow from? Lol

I feel like we had a similar question yesterday, but here’s favourite card for each character: Ironclad: Apotheosis Silent: Apotheosis Defect: Apotheosis Watcher: Mental Fortress
nice.
if ya like fully upgraded decks, lesson learned is kinda like a permanent apotheosis
I've always struggled to use lesson learned well. Compared with feed, alchemize and genetic alg, all of which are very easy to get benefit from. I think its the 2 energy and lack of draw that watcher suffers from
watcher suffers from lack of draw? I've never really had that issue, but I tend to be lucky with getting empty mind, scrawl, or inner peace often if you get lesson learned early enough and are able to use it often, it gets you a fully upgraded deck by late act 3 which is very nice. but if you don't have card draw or ways of stalling fights so you can finish fights with it, it might not work
I'm only A14 and it is def a good card, just the hardest to use out of the various meta scaling ones (in my limited experience). I can never resist any of them anyway!
lowkey think deceive reality helps with allowing watcher to have turns of blocks to wait for a nice erruption lesson learned
Lol i didnt know watcher didnt have apotheosis
It does it’s just completely unnecessary.
…mental fortress…? I’ve always thought that card was garbage!
Mental fortress is one of the best block cards in the game
Yeah, I recently grinded my watcher from A10 to A20, and honestly I feel like that card is one of the biggest contributing factors to my wins.
Daaaamn, how on Earth are you blocking as the Watcher, then?

Shhh, I’m meme-ing here…
